New Skin ? Made by Kadin, as part of the Koran Updates. [Kadin @ 1. 26 . 07]
The soft ground made for springy steps, rendering the creation of paw prints unavoidable. The winter had released its harsh grasp from the land, making way for the great rebirth of the forest. Fenris had reclaimed his rightful place up above, no longer kept imprisoned by tyrannous, black clouds. Though the sun god's appearances had become more and more frequent, there were still days when even his warmth could not penetrate the atmosphere, and the days that bridged Winter to Spring were as rainy and miserable as though the change had never happened. For this reason, no matter the temperature, the ground almost always had a soggy texture to it, leaving mud and puddles for the Lera to track through on their journeys. Two Varg were leaving such an impression on the earth; the story of their travels was being written in the ground, and it was obvious that from the unclaimed territory, their tale was leading them straight to the packlands of Koran.
Occasionally, the male (who was in the lead), would take a glance over his shoulder to check up on his follower. She was a Fae who about matched him in age and bravery, a trait which they both had proven to each other only a few hours ago. Dealing with humans was something Kai had never thought he'd have to deal with again, though the past had a way of creeping up on someone and causing them to look a bad experience straight in the face for a second time. He had originally left the Koran to venture to GeRad for an alliance check, though due to the pleas of a GeRadian scout and circumstances beyond his control, he was forced to re-work his plans and abandon his original goal for a much more dangerous (thought it could be argued that it was also more valiant) one.
He and Krystal, for that was the bi-hued Fae's name, had come to find that a small tribe of humans had gathered between the borders of Koran and GeRad. Worried for the safety of both their packs, they had found investigation to be a necessity, and only after they were sure that the humans would move on to leave their packlands undisturbed did they see fit to move on, though not without reawakening previously tame demons from their pasts. Such a close encounter with man had forged a sort of connection between the two Varg. One that, in time, could grow to be called a friendship.
With the comforting view of the Koran dens in sight, the burdened Beta was able to finally breathe a sigh of relief. The rolling hills and dipping valleys of the territory seemed to call to him, tugging at his heartstrings, asking what had provoked such a lengthy and uncalled for absence. If only they knew, he thought, what dangers had come so close to befalling the land. Turning his amber gaze to Krystal, he managed to light a smile on his handsome maw. "Well, Krystal," he said calmly with an adoration that could only be understood by a fellow wolf who felt pride for the land they hailed from, "This is my home."

Winter was but a distant memory, lost to the minds of the simple lera who could not remember such seasons, and wandered the earth aimlessly from season to season, void of any real purpose in life, other then mating and being food for Putnar. But too the intelligent creatures of the land, the end of winter and the beginning of spring were a welcome sight and a sigh of relief. For the Putnar would no longer have to struggle with what many believed to be an eternal battle with the frigged frost of Wolfbane’s tempest, and the herds of herla and other lera would at last return to provide game and life to weary families. The eternal cycle of the four seasons had once again started a new, and now all life could enjoy the fruitful splendors of spring, and the new life that spawned from Fenris’ warmth. Two wolves were all ready enjoying the light and warmth that came with what many called the season of life, evident on their expressions as one wolf led his companion to his homeland.
This was not at all their first encounter, for the two varg had shared an experience together that tested the limits of a past in which both wolves cared not to recall, much less relive. One is an ebon and ivory Ge-Radian whose blood ties intertwined the fae with the infamous and malicious Zanguzen clan, a message that was clearly displayed with emerald crescent markings that could be found on her right shoulder, and left hind leg. Bi-hued sapphire and emerald optics silently viewed and took in the world around her. Such was common practice for a lead scout. Though her heart may be kind and caring, she can never truly escape her blood heritage, as was evident during the adventure the two wolves had shared. The other, the one who Krystal followed, is a varg of Koranian allegiance. A charcoal warrior, and beta of the pack, Kai stepped proudly across the pack borders of his home. There was a keen intelligence in his golden eyes that spoke like volumes in a manuscript, and Krystal was compelled to follow him, hoping to learn more about the Koranian warrior, as well as his home land.
From the amber Dragga of Ge-Rad, Krystal had heard many stories of the beauty and sheer majesty of Koran. But words could never do justice to what eyes could behold, and bi-hued optics took in all the wonder and splendor that came with the Koran territory. The sheer size of the valley and the endless hills, with grass tips that swayed to a gentle spring breeze, as if they themselves have been rehearsing this moment for years, captivated the Ge-Radian. Krystal couldn’t believe the differences between her own homeland, and that of Koran. Ge-Rad in many ways held its own beauty in that of the labyrinth of redwoods, open plains and magnificent crystal pond who shared its name with Ge-Rad’s former Drappa. To the lead scout, both lands sustained a level of beauty that would captivate any, and it came as no surprise why the two packs held a strong alliance with each other. Like two halves of the same coin, both packs functioned with each other, and aided the other when crisis was evident.
It was only when Kai spoke, that Koran’s hypnotic spell of wonder and brilliance broke its hold with the Ge-Radian. By now, her ebon paws had at last ceased movement, bringing Krystal to a halt by the Koranian beta’s side. Kaleidoscope orbs found the handsome smile that displayed on Kai’s maw, a smile one wore when being reunited with something dear to their heart. A treasure with a value of infinity, worth dying for if it meant its protection and safety. His smile alone revealed the love and care he held in his heart for Koran, a warrior that would give his blood to protect his homeland, and those he called family and friend. This trait, the two wolves shared in common, for Krystal loved Ge-Rad with equal passion, and would give her own life as well if it meant the protection of the land that mothered and provided for her. “It’s so beautiful.” Krystal spoke; her tone and features displayed the wonder and admiration that had taken hold of the bi-colored fae. “You must really love Koran very much.” Tail swishing gently behind her, a smile had formed on Krystal's midnight maw as she waited for Kai to speak.
As he had hoped would be the case, the bi-colored Fae seemed to understand each and every word he had said without a moment of hesitation. That unfaltering, unquestionable bond required little explanation, only a few words of fondness to trigger one's own strong feelings of kinship towards their homeland. His satisfaction towards the shared connection displayed by the GeRadian scout was splayed on his maw in the form of a proud smile.
As the Fae's dual-toned eyes roved over every inch of the landscape he called his home, he felt as though he was on trial. Eager anticipation was building within his body; his frame would soon be too small to house it for much longer. Amber eyes followed the path distinguished by their blue-green counterparts, drinking in every aspect of the rolling hills, dipping valleys, and towering trees as though inspecting them himself and insuring that they were indeed up to par to be presented to a stranger making their first visit to the land. Everything seemed to be just as he remembered it to be, though the new green leaves on the trees seemed more vibrant, each pebble seemed more defined as if they had each found their perfect resting place between the fresh sprigs of green grass. All of this beauty was amplified still by the approaching light of the sun; Fenris had decided to aid him in his display of Koran, shining his rays most splendidly on all that lay exposed to the eyes of the two Varg.
Turning his gaze back to the fae, he tried to discern her thoughts. It was evident that he loved his home, but what would she think of it? Scrawled over her features was a mask of wonder, and only after she had lifted the mask was she able to acknowledge him once more, her eyes shone with the brilliance that reflected the feeling of home. "You like it?" he asked, though Krystal had already revealed such to be true. He seemed to be reassuring himself with the question that indeed his pack was a formidable place. "Oh, I do," he said, without his usual reserve, giving the pup within him a glimpse once more into the world from behind bright eyes. "I love the Koran very much." All one had to do to see that the statement was true was look into the Beta's eyes.
"You know," he began, as though recalling his past and beginning to formulate it into expressible words, "I've lived here since I was a cub. I grew up in these lands. Would you like me to show you?" Taking a step forward as if to prompt the female into following, he turned to see if she was at all interested.

If one were too gaze upon the charcoal male with experienced orbs, perhaps even with optics of innocence and ignorance, they would still be able to discern the message Kai displayed. A message that spoke of the pride and joy the Beta held for his homeland. For a Kerl, or simple lera, such a relationship would be difficult to comprehend. But the bi-hued Ge-Radian knew all too well the feelings Kai was experiencing this moment. This feature, this relationship held between pack wolf and the land to which they called home was shared between the two varg. For Krystal held her own home with the same high prestige and passion. Like Koran is to Kai, Ge-Rad is to Krystal a magnificent and wondrous place, the land that had mothered a rejected kerl and had provided for one of Zanguzen blood. “I can understand your feelings Kai.” Krystal explained with a soft and supple tone, like that of a gentle river whose waters flowed in tranquil harmony. For despite such calmness, the water held truth and consistency. A river will always flow in one direction, the stream that never changes, the truth that never bends.
“I love Ge-Rad with all my heart.” Krystal continued, her tail swishing gently behind her as she spoke, and her eyes lit up at the thought of her homeland. “She has mothered me like a cub, and I would give my blood to keep her safe from harm. To be allowed to defend her as lead scout is an honor and privilege that I never take for granted.” There was no other wolf in the pack more suited for the job and all ready the former Zanguzen’s accomplishments spoke the truth of her words. During her time in Ge-Rad, Krystal has done everything from warding off threatening kerls, too alerting the pack of newly migrating herds. She has even gone tooth and claw with Sarnes’ drappa, and saved the life of Ge-Rad’s ivory beta. Yet still there were those who sided against Krystal, like Shayla, Draeg’s daughter. It was one of the reasons why the lead scout had taken it upon herself to being this journey of self-enlightenment. Too not only grow physically, but mentally and spiritually. To become stronger not only for herself, but for the pack in which she loved.
Kai’s words had hinted at a puppyish nature. Perhaps the Beta had been forced to grow up fast, or his responsibilities had suppressed what would be his normal personality. There were many guesses but no clear answer. Before Krystal could ponder about it any further, Kai had made the Ge-Radian an offer. He would allow Krystal the honor of being toured around the land. To this Krystal was elated, which clearly displayed on her features. Her ebon tail wagged with delight, and before she knew it, the lead scout had jumped and yipped with joy. She found Kai’s cub like enthusiasm contagious, which brought out her own playful side into the light. Perhaps it was because the beta of Koran and lead scout of Ge-Rad shared the ties of love, passion and protection for their land. Or perhaps it was the bond the two wolves had developed, over the adventure they had shared when dealing with the human investigation. Krystal felt at ease around Kai, and padded up beside him, a smile displayed on her midnight maw. “It’d be an honor to see more of your home.” Krystal spoke gently.
Falling for Koran's Midnight Beta
Tail erect and eyes so keen Strong and quick but thin and lean Fills her prey with fear and fright Hunting on the darkest night
Up to this point the Fae had done nothing but agree whole-heartedly with the ebon Beta, though few words were said between them, the cloak of wonder that covered them both was enough to show their feelings on the subject of home. There was no doubt in the male's mind that he had been right in bringing her here, for although showing one's home off was a somewhat private matter, he felt confidant that doing to was not a mistake, especially after seeing Krystal's eyes light up upon offering such a suggestion. There was no hesitation in the Fae's reply, and his purpose for the day was clear: he would be showing her around the Koran.
With a playful smile plastered to his maw, he could barely wait for the Fae's compliance before bounding down the hillside. His expression spoke volumes of his unchanneled excitement as his tongue lolled freely from his mouth while the wind swept over his sleek, stream-lined frame. Legs pumped him faster and faster down into the heart of the valley, and though he had no doubts of the Fae's ability to keep up with him (she was a scout, after all), he would still turn to glance over his shoulder from time to time, and was reassured by the black and white blur that followed.
Halting no sooner than the decline leveled out, he intended to keep to the outskirts of the packland if possible, for although Phantom was a kind-hearted Drappa, he was unsure how she would feel about him inviting a stranger into the heart of their land. Even though he was sure there was nothing to worry about, it was better to be safe than sorry, and so some things, like the dens, Krystal would have to view from afar. "We have a lot in common," he said happily, the corners of his maw pulled up in a smile as he panted from the run. "I serve no purpose but to defend this pack with my life. It's part of the oath one takes as a warrior. I owe everything I am to this pack." For the first time, he was able to say it outloud. He had felt lost for so long, wondering whether or not he truly belonged within the confines of Koran. Now that he was attempting to explain his feelings to another being, he became aware of just how much he depended on his family for happiness, and how much they depended on him. Although the Koran had not needed such service from him in his time there, for they had not waged war with another pack since then, he was still willing to lay his life on the line at any given time if it meant ensuring the safety of those he cared about.
"Actually, I didn't always live here," he admitted, turning once more to the Fae. He hadn't been trying to conceal the truth, more, the truth had surfaced and reminded him of the facts. "I had a family, blood relatives, that I lived with before. We were a small pack, but happy." Faint remembrance flashed in his eyes reminiscent of the glaze that covered them when they had been amongst the humans. "After they died, I was found by a saint among Varg. Zhentee was his name, did you know him?" He asked, more to remind himself of Krystal's presence than to receive an affirmative answer. "He was the Dragga of your pack, once, though that was long before our time. Without his guidance and hospitality, I would have never found the Koran, and may have never lived to be this old at all. He was like a father to me, and I owe everything to him." His tone was almost melancholy as he remembered the ebon and crimson hued Dragga, though he had not been the only one to suffer from his loss, or to have flourished from his care. Zhentee had indeed been a role model for many a misguided wolf, and Kai felt privileged to have been one among them.
"We've already passed into the valley, what lies ahead is flat land accompanied by a line of forest on the border. Those dens in the distance are where I spent much of my time as a cub." Putting an end to the pause he had issued to tell a considerable chunk of his history, his pace picked up again, though slower than before; more of a pleasant stroll. "Tell me, Krystal, what lead you to your home in GeRad?"

Truly it would be considered an honor for any varg to be able to even glimpse the majesty of Koran’s valley and overall terra. For Krystal, who would now get a grand tour of this wondrous place by none other then Koran’s very Beta, the Ge-Radian knew that luck had to be on the former Zanguzen’s side. Never did Krystal believe that the beginning of her journey would entail everything from observing humans, to confronting past demons and inner turmoil, to being able to observe the land Koranian’s call home, with none other then Kai acting as the tour guide. The excitement in Kai’s form was as clear to Krystal’s kaleidoscope orbs as the ever present sun, which overlooked the land from the heavens. Kai’s passion for his homeland was enough to bring inspiration to any pack wolf. No doubt, the heart of a warrior pumped the blood of a compassionate hero through the Beta’s veins. Both Koran and Kai were lucky to have one another, a destiny perhaps set by the will of the gods.
Kai was soon barreling down the hills of Koran, which led to the valley. Krystal quickly followed in suit, her ebon paws propelling the lead scout at an even pace. A sense of true peace emanated from this place. Krystal could feel her spirits lift, as if the very wind that ran through her pelt as the lead scout of Ge-Rad followed the lead warrior of Koran, could lift her form into the sky and cradle her spirit in a gentle embrace. It was the same feeling that Krystal felt when within the safety of her homeland of Ge-Rad. Both Koran and Ge-Rad shared this kind of tranquil security, and the bi-colored fae found it comforting that another wolf felt the same passion of protecting what is precious to them. The two wolves shared this connection; it is what makes them strong and passionate. Down the hill the two wolves ran, the beta and lead warrior of Koran, leading the lead scout and emissary of Ge-Rad. Though the two wolves held different titles, and lived in different packs, their passion was none the less equal.
As Kai and Krystal reached the bottom of the hill where the valley leveled out, the Beta shared kind words with the Ge-Radian. The brisk run had left the two vargs panting with excitement, though little energy was lost on the lead scout’s part. Traversing and sprinting across the open plains of Ge-Rad was a routine morning regiment for the bi-colored fae. Such a manner of training yielded the results of an athletic and speed oriented frame in which the former Zanguzen carried. Her speed was unrivaled within the boarders of Ge-Rad, making the bi-hued fae the perfect candidate for scout and emissary work. But in truth, Krystal did not view routine runs as training. Rather, Krystal loved running for the sheer joy and bliss that came in tow. The wind would rush through her silky pelt, and her very spirit would almost seem to take off. Running brought the cub within Krystal to life, and there was no greater joy for Krystal then out on the patrol, sprinting away all her worries and concerns.
A smile adorned Krystal’s midnight maw, as her ebon auds took in every word spoken by the Beta. She could not agree more with each lyric, and his words caused her own charcoal banner to swish subconsciously. For Kai was not only speaking to Krystal, his words reached deep within the heart and soul of the former Zanguzen. “If I’ve learned anything from life Kai, it’s this.” Krystal explained, recalling a lesson learned by one of the wisest wolves she had ever had the privilege to know. “A wise wolf once told me, that without purpose, we can’t exist. It is purpose that defines us. Purpose that binds us, gives us life and meaning. Without purpose, there is no reason. And without reason, how can we live, and call ourselves varg?” Krystal’s bi-hued optics seems to take on their own glow from Fenris’ radiance, as she spoke her next lyrics. Her tone filled with a sense of promise and passion that could only be understood by one who felt that same. “What greater purpose is there, then protecting the ones you love, and the land who cradles you gently? That is my purpose.”
Krystal couldn’t answer right away when Kai spoke of Ge-Rad’s former Dragga, and it came as a shock to the bi-hued fae how little she knew of the events previous to her own arrival in Ge-Rad. Kai not only held knowledge of his own land of Koran, but also contained a wealth of information of Ge-Rad to which even the lead scout was unaware of. Quickly Krystal made a mental note to ask Draeg about Ge-Rad’s past when she got back from her journey. “I’m afraid I don’t know of Zhentee.” Krystal spoke honestly, but recognized that this figure was indeed important in Kai’s life. Her tone was respectful. Judging by the way Kai spoke, Zhentee was no longer among the living, and Krystal shut her eyes and bowed her head in a silent showing of respect for the deceased Dragga. “I’m sorry for your loss… he sounds like a great Dragga.” Opening her eyes and raising her gaze now to meet Kai’s, she continued. “Draeg has never told me about him, but that is partially my fault. I’ve never bothered to ask about Ge-Rad’s history. I’m surprised how little I know about it.”
The Koranian and Ge-Radian walked at a gentle pace within the valley of Koran. The grass blades were still moist with the morning dew that had no doubt resulted from a spring shower. A gentle breeze combed the land of Koran and brushed the blades in rhythm, like gentle ripples in a crystal clear pond. They helped cool Krystal’s paw pads and reminded the fae of her own home to which she missed dearly. The bi-hued fae observed every spec of land from the blooming flowers of spring, to the trees and grass valley to which they traversed. From a distance, Krystal could see the dens in which Kai had spoke of. As they continued, a question arose from Kai, inquiring about her own ties to Ge-Rad and how she came to find the land she now called home. “There was a time where I had been a prisoner of the humans.” The lead scout began, her tone bathed in a downhearted aura as she recalled the event in her mind.
“That is why I know so much about their ways, why I still carry resentment towards them. Even though I escaped, I felt lost and alone, a kerl with no purpose or reason. But something intervened…” Now however, her voice changed. Lyrics now filled with hope flowed gently from her maw as she continued. “Call it pure luck, chance, the will of Tor, what ever you like. I stumbled across Ge-Rad, and into their amber Dragga. Despite being a kerl, despite my blood ties to the malicious, murderous Zanguzen clan, a clan whose symbol, whose curse I bare on my pelt, he took me in with no hint of judgment in his eyes. If it not for that day, if it not for Draeg, I don’t know where I’d be now. Much like Zhentee is to you Kai, Draeg is to me. He gave me purpose when I thought it had been taken away from me. Now I have a family that loves me, and a land that protects me. And in tern I protect my family, and my home. And I know that nothing, not even the humans, can take that purpose away from me.”
With Krystal's wise reference to the meaning of life, Kai was in perfect agreement. "There is no greater purpose," he managed to add, "Without the love of family and friends, one has nothing worth fighting for." It was then that he realized how strong the pack mentality resided within his heart. He had spent many suns wandering with the burning question etched in his mind: Was he truly meant for the like of a pack wolf? Standing here beside Krystal now and sharing his passion for his home, the answer became suddenly clear to him as would a reflection in a pond when the ripples fade away: His destiny was here, within the Koran, and he would live out the rest of his days defending it.
At hearing that the energized Fae had no knowledge of the late Zhentee, Kai was forced to check himself. He felt no animosity towards the scout for her ignorance, nor was he disappointed in any way. He had simply thought, in his naive, cub-like fashion, that any figure who appeared as wise and benevolent as the Dragga had been would be known by all the world. More than anything he remembered the god-like stature and preternatural majesty that had emanated from the mann's very being (this vision of grandiose was perhaps enhanced but a little through the young eyes which Kai had seen him through). His kindness seemed to benefit even those who did not know him, and when he finally fell, claimed by the trials of time (though earlier than ever should have been, according to those that knew him well), it seemed that the whole forest quaked with the descent of such a deity; the cries of agony and melancholy had seemed to echo around the world.
Still, he had to shake his head and smile at the thought. Of course it was only natural for Krystal not to know him, or to have even heard of him. She was a relatively new addition to GeRad's ranks, and it had been many moons since Zhentee had been amongst the living, not to mention an Alpha of the pack. In a way, he was sort of glad that she hadn't heard of him, because it made his magnificent description of his character seem all the more breathtaking, while at the same time managed to keep him grounded by reminding him that it was impossible for someone to be known by everyone. Even the great gods themselves were unheard of by some unlearned Kerl. "A lack of knowledge is nothing to lament," he said calmly, "Besides, if everyone knew everything, the joy of learning would be absent from our lives." He bestowed a kind smile and a knowledgeable glance upon the bi-hued fae. "Zhentee was a great Dragga, though he too had his time to pass, as all things do. The famous measure of his kindness has left an impact on the land and those acquaintances of his who inhabit it. No doubt you, too, feel the impression of his good will, through the people he has touched." He was referring to himself in particular, and hinted at such with a playful wink, though he had no way of knowing if she had met another associate of the ebon and crimson Dragga, and had been touched by their disposition as well.
Their comfortable stroll had lead them to the bank of a small stream that ran through the valley; a main source of water for the beings that dwelled within Koran. The soothing sounds of the rushing water invoked a break in conversation, and it was then that Kai was aware of his nature to ramble taking over. As he bent his neck towards the water for a drink, he turned his gaze first to Krystal; "Please forgive me if I've bored you," he apologized, a hint of embarrassment in his voice. "I've never really spoken of these things before, and I feel that sometimes I may take a listening ear for granted. Please, speak more of your own past, if it is not too uncomfortable a subject for you." The mention of her clan in particular struck an interest within him. "I'm sure your Alpha had no trouble in seeing past the title you carry, for you bear no resemblance to such a clan." This statement was not entirely true, he realized after the fact, for he had seen her lash out while in proximity of the humans; a fearsome shift that even an extremely angered wolf would have trouble competing against. "Tell me, Krystal, about this clan, the Zanguzen. How was it that you started your life out there?" Pausing a moment to take a drink (and allow Krystal some time to regroup after his onslaught of questions), he then licked the remaining droplets from his maw and reclined onto his haunches as to receive the Fae's story more comfortable.

(ooc: I’m sorry for the very long wait for this post Kai. I figured it was best that I finished the semester off since I was falling behind on everything. Just a fair warning, I’m very rusty at the moment so my post might sound a little lack luster, and I don’t know exactly what’s going on anymore in the thread aside from what I learned from re reading your last post. So please bare with me for this one, they’ll get better as I get back into the RP’ing swing.)
There wasn’t much more the bi-hued Ge-Radian could ask for, if one could request settings for a day. Clarity of the weather made a peaceful stroll across the beauty of Koran even more elegant and becoming to Krystal’s kaleidoscopic orbs of intrigue. Spring was upon the land that mothered the wolves of the region, and those of Koran blood envied the time of great sustenance and warmth, after having struggled against the tyranny of Wolfbane’s frozen tundra. Evidence of the great circle of life (as often referred to by Varg) was abundant from the blossoming of various types of plants, to the return of dear packs that grazed on the spring grass. Though slightly tempted by the walking meat, her attention was at the moment taken totally by the Beta of Koran, Kai. With an inquisitive face and an eagerness to learn as much as she could, Krystal listened attentively as Kai spoke of this Zhentee, as a cub would speak of their father.
“He sounds like a wonderful Dragga, it would have been an honor to be in his presence.” Krystal commented, catching the wink painted on Kai’s expression, and matching it with a pleasant gesture of her own. Her own playfulness was ever more present, but was matched with respect once she spoke of this great Zhentee. “Zhentee reminds me of my mother.” She spoke humbly. “Even at the tender age of cub hood, I could tell that she was a very positive influence to those around her, and she too passed on before her time.” There was a hint of sadness, as the lead scout touched on this delicate subject. But from this sadness came great strength, which she would subconsciously show the beta male as she continued. “But even in death, their spirit lives on. Through me, my mom lives, as Zhentee lives through you Kai. All we can do is live on, and hope that our actions in life are looked upon by their kind eyes from the realm of spirits.” With that said, a smile formed on Krystal’s ebon muzzle, as she felt the need to put her thoughts into words. “I think Zhentee would be very proud to learn his teachings still hold strong within you.”
The two varg soon arrived to what could be called the artery of Koran. A stream that cut through the heart of Koran’s valley, its crystal like waters teamed with life giving nectar and an abundance of fish, just waiting for the picking. The gentle hymn of a soothing stream only furthered enhanced the symphony of the land, with peaceful breezes and chirping birds acting as the many assortments of instruments, and Fenris as the main conductor. Though somewhat thirsty, with an inviting stream of cool water acting as the ultimate tease to a parched tongue, Krystal remained polite and held her ground. This wasn’t her land, and to drink from the stream of Koran without permission was something the bi-hued fae simply couldn’t do. Rather, she ignored her thirst by carefully listening too the curious words of the ebon beta. “I don’t mind listening to your stories Kai.” Krystal began. “But if you’re curious to learn of my origins, you should probably take a seat, for there’s a lot to talk about.”
The world around the Koranian and the Ge-Radian seemed to move on its own time scale, separate from the world in which the former Zanguzen shared with her friend. A world filled with hate, spite, blood and agony. The world of the Zanguzen, the pack in which Krystal was born in, and forever shared her blood and lineage with. The Zanguzen clan is well known within the lands east of Transylvania, a place governed by savagery. Their cruelty and malicious deeds could very well rival that of the western Balkar, or perhaps even put to shame the male oriented Balkan society. Even Krystal herself was unaware of just how sinister her blood clan is, for her innocence and ignorance were protected by the very mother whom she had earlier spoke of, and had it not been for the kindness of that very fae, it would be very likely that the bi-hued Ge-Radian would have wound up as her siblings had. Cold blooded assassins with a thirst for power and blood that stretched into the realm of savagery.
Fenris’ orb had idly strolled along in the heavens, causing shadows to now face a different direction as day turned into afternoon. It had taken a while for the bi-hued Ge-Radian to recount her past and tell her story to the ebon beta of Koran. She wondered for a moment, what thoughts were passing through the beta. “That pretty much covers everything.” Krystal concluded. What was once a parched throat had evolved into a need to drink that could be seen in her bi-hued eyes, as the former Zanguzen glanced long fully at the cool stream of water in which they sat beside. “The Zanguzen… The humans… they’ve all played a roll in the way I turned out, but none more so then my mom. I owe her my life, a debt I can never repay. I can only hope that she’s proud of what I’ve become and the decisions I’ve made.” Unable to speak anymore, the bi-hued Ge-Radian subconsciously began to pant from thirst, as she Kai time to ponder over the tale that had just been recounted.
(ooc: I hope that you don't mind that I did a little time skip for telling Krystal's story. This is post is all ready way long as it is. I hope you like it.)
Falling for Koran's Midnight Beta
Tail erect and eyes so keen Strong and quick but thin and lean Fills her prey with fear and fright Hunting on the darkest night
The blazing sun overhead heated his charcoal pelt, but not uncomfortabley so. It would be a while yet before Fenris summed up the strength and intensity to deal such a harsh blow to those with dark pelts. For now, the Varg needed only to enjoy the pleasant sunlight and thank their gods that the firm grip of winter had been relinquished. Krystal's description of her mother brought a smile to his maw- a light-hearted memory that he could relate to in the most identical of ways. Her words, though tinged with sadness, contained within them, too, a strength that carried their spirits high enough to be safe from the melancholy that loomed below. The same traits that had made their two idols such memorable characters had carried on to the next generation and had made themselves apparent in the two mature Varg that reminisced of the late predecessors. The closing of her short tale left his face feeling warm with abashment beneath his fur. Considering himself to be a reflection of such a grand teacher was something that had never crossed his mind, though it was true that the same sense of integrity had been ingrained within his very soul. To such a compliment he turned his head slightly, staring modestly at the ground, and offered only a wide grin of appreciation for the praise.
The rushing water of the river offered a mellow and relaxing atmosphere that contrasted with the recollections of savagery and unjustified cruelty that wound their way into Krystal's tale. He had never realized how fortunate he had been as a cub, to have been able to share those precious times with his loving family, when there were other wolves, perhaps some of which he had met face to face without knowing it, who had endured a hellish past and kept the dark secret harbored within. Such hardships produced hardened dispositions and sometimes nasty personalities, or so he would have speculated had he not met Krystal. Her display of character had shed light upon other unfortunates; she had added to their reputations simply by showcasing her exemplary perseverance. Though there was much to be recounted by the bi-hued Fae, the Beta hardly noticed as time flew by. Gradually, Fenris eased along his track through the sky, creeping from behind the horizon to full view above the treetops, and finally, began his dissent near the end of the Zanguzen's story.
"It's amazing..." he finally said, dumbstruck, and without the capability of saying much else. "The horrible things our kind is capable of doing." As he shook his head sadly he was reminded momentarily of the destructive cult of the west; The Balkar. Known for their treachery, he had been lucky enough never to have run into any of their kind, but the wickedness of their deeds was so widespread that no questions needed to be asked when concerning their character. Nasty brutes, the lot of them were, and he hated them all the more for the pain they had forced a dear friend of his to endure. Those kinds of wolves cared nothing for the destruction they left behind them; they thrived differently than the rest and were concerned only with themselves and their own twisted sense of pleasure. "Though I suppose, choosing not to do the evil things we are all capable of is what sets us apart from the monsters among us."
Rising to all fours, he slowly stretched his forelegs out before him, his rump arched in the air causing his spine to extend and his vertebrae to crack. Parting his maw, he licked his lips and suddenly became aware of how dry his mouth was. The tempting trickle of the nearby river beckoned him forth as though he were being led on by an invisible string. Shooting Krystal a glance, she seemed to plead with him for permission to join him at the water's edge, the thirst could be heard in her cracking vocals and he both wondered why she hadn't excused herself to get a drink and regretted not offering her the opportunity earlier. "Oh Krystal, forgive me! I have been a wretched host!" The regret was written plainly on his features and could be distinguished by his furrowed brow and frowning maw. "You are more than welcome to help yourself to the sustenance of Koran. If you are thirsty, please, join me for a drink from the prominent stream that flows through the packland. I only wish you would have said something earlier; it was not my intent to cause you to endure any discomfort during your stay." Embarrassment returned to his features as he led the parched fae to the stream and bent his neck to drink. Lapping at the cool water quickly eased his thirst and restored his lost energy. Returning to his full height, he rid his facade of any stray droplets. "I don't know how you've managed, Krystal. The things you've gone through... no one is deserving of such injury." He paused for a moment, letting his words sink in and pushing back his own sadness. "Whatever influence that horrible clan might have had on you has been smothered; your mother knew what was best for you and acted accordingly, as all good mothers do for their children." His own mother came to mind, the soft, benevolent features of her face; she had always put him before everything else, up until the very end. "I know that she'd be proud of you," he assured her with smiling eyes. "You've proven your strength in remaining pure of heart- a feat that anyone you meet should be able to acknowledge and respect without resistance."

(OOC: I’m sorry it took me a month to get to this post. It’s been a very stressful month for me, but things are finally getting back to normal. Don’t know how good this post will be, but I hope you’ll like it.)
The moments that followed the tale were full of uncertainty for the Ge-Radian, yet she did well to mask her doubts both intentionally and unintentionally. While Krystal did worry about possibly being judged as being a Zanguzen by blood and inheriting the sins of her ancestry, the lead scout would none the less still hold her head up high, knowing that she did all she could to follow in her mother’s paw steps. And while there certainly were many bumps along the way of bi-colored fae’s life, she was still proud of the decisions she had made and the life she had lived. Panting heavily from the thirst that had settled in her throat, kaleidoscopic orbs of wonder fell upon the ebon beta. Were it not for the orchestra of the mighty Koran River that played its majestic concerto shamelessly for all to hear, the immediate scene before the two wolves would’ve been a silent one. Silently, Krystal thanked the river, for breaking what would otherwise be a very tense moment.
The bi-hued fae would later nod slowly, as ebon auds absorbed the lyrics of Koran’s lead warrior. Krystal watched as Kai stood on all fours and stretched what appeared to be a rigid stiffness from being seated for so long. It was probably a rarity for someone with such a prestige title and responsibility that accompanied it to be seated for such long periods of time. No doubt normally the ebon male would be on patrol, protecting Koran from any threats that would dare set paw upon this peaceful valley. As Kai motioned himself toward the river no doubt for a drink, Krystal was again reminded on how thirsty she was, but could not bring herself to ask the ebon male for passage to quench her thirst. This wasn’t her land, and merely stepping paw on this soil was a privilege granted by the Koranian, the ebon and ivory fae simply felt that she couldn’t ask for more then what was all ready given. But in the end she wouldn’t have too, the need to drink was painted clearly on her expression, and deciphered clearly by Kai’s golden orbs.
Words could not express her gratitude, which would make no difference if they could because the Ge-Radian was too parched to speak any further. Gratefully, Krystal rose to her paws and stood beside the Koranian Beta. Sympathetically, she gave a soft wine which broke in several places as a result of a parched throat. “It’s ok.” She struggled to say, as every other lyric broke with a cracked voice. “I didn’t want to intrude. These are your lands, and I’m merely a humble guest. Just too be here is a blessing, and I felt like I’d be asking for too much.” Slowly, the ebon male led Krystal to the river’s edge. The crystal waters easily reflected the image of the bi-hued fae and for the moment, her sapphire and emerald gaze was glued to the reflection. As always, the image of her mother kindly looked back up at her daughter, for the two she-vargs shared the same reflection of beauty and kindness. It was only when the ripples of Kai’s drink reached Krystal’s gaze was the reflection disturbed and the bi-colored fae’s mind snapped back into reality.
With a kind a grateful smile directed toward the Koranian Beta, Krystal lowered her maw so that the cool fresh water of the river would touch her parched lips. Eyes closed, she lapped at the life giving nectar, each drink bringing new life into the fae as the frosty liquid soothed its way down her throat and cleansed the she wolf of all impurities. As Krystal drank, she listened carefully to the words spoken by Kai taking in the kindness of his compliments while the river nurtured her tender throat. Finally, Krystal parted ways with the water, allowing several droplets to trickle down onto the awaiting grass blades, but managing to catch a few spare droplets that were clung onto her wet maw with her pink tongue. Koran’s waters had done a miracle for her throat and voice, as strength had returned to both. “I met a wise varg once,” Krystal began with admiration in her tone. “with one eye as the moon, and the other as the sun. And he told me, that it’s not who we are underneath, but what we do, that defines us. I believe in those words, because it’s what we do in our lives, the choices we make and the actions we take, that tell others who we are.”

((Sorry this post is sort've rushed.. I'm headed out the door- hope you like it, Krys!))
As humble words spilled forth from the Geradian's maw, Kai found himself at a loss for words. Her reluctance to request anything of him baffled him, and in truth, he found himself somewhat embarrassed. It made him drift into a moment of self-reflection; How would he have acted upon visiting foreign lands? Surely he would have spoken up, voicing his need to drink, and would have taken such not without thanks, but not harboring shame, either. As somewhat of an Ambassador for the Koran pack, he found himself questioning his conduct. Would this be considered rude, or would it be only necessary action? He was sure when the time came he would do what he felt was right, though for now, he was absolutely certain that the GeRadian before him had no reason to act so reserved.
"Please", he began, his vocals deep but not artificially so. "You are a guest here. The land of Koran welcomes you with open arms; do not hesitate to ask for something that is required, especially when it is just within reach." When his dialogue had reached its end, he offered a reassuring wink as if to set the rule in place. "The last thing I want is for you to feel uncomfortable here." As Krystal satiated her thirst, Kai took the time to examine her for perhaps the first time since their meeting. Her body was well muscled, and complimented with a healthy, toned frame. The sharp, contrasting tones of her pelt were brought out by her lively, two-toned eyes that caught perfectly the reflection of Fenris's light. Just as the fae seemed paralyzed by her own reflection in the water, so Kai was momentarily taken by her appearance. Upon her finishing her drink, he was quick to hide the wonder in his eyes, and the feeling eventually faded with the sound of her voice in his ears.
At her next set of words, Kai found himself taken by surprise. The description Krystal had recounted reminded him greatly of a wise Varg he had recently encountered. "I think I may have met the same Varg, not too long ago," he said, a smile playing on his features. "He was not much older than myself, but had a wisdom beyond his years. He spoke similar praises to me. Silvanus was his name." As the title passed over his tongue, he felt a small tinge of loneliness. The two ebon Varg had gotten along wonderfully, and for the first time, he had found someone he could talk to comfortably about his past. "A good Mann, and a dear friend," he seemingly said to himself, though the comment could be directed towards Krystal all the same.
Turning his attention to the darkening sky, swirls of orange and magenta had begun replacing the brightness of the sun. "It's later than I thought," he said, the constant worry returning to his voice. "I didn't mean to keep you so long, the hours flew by so quickly.. I'm assuming you'd like to be escorted home now." He felt somewhat sad to see her go, for although the day had wasted listlessly away, he found himself enjoying the Fae's company. "Of course..." he began again, and paused, as though searching for the best way to phrase his next words, "You are more than welcome to stay the night here, in Koran. There are plenty of spare dens for the occasion." A smile sat comfortably on his maw, his amber eyes shining in the waning light as he awaited the Fae's response.

((I hope this post is ok Kai, I kinda used some elements from your previous post to add length too mine. There should be enough in it too give you something to work with. Hope you like it.
The bi-hued Ge-Radian was surprised to say the least to learn that Kai too held an encounter with the varg in question. His wisdom had spread too the four winds, and there was no telling how far across the lands his teachings had reached, or the paths in which the handicapped scholar had taken. Fate as it seems, was not without a sense of irony. It was fate, the will of the gods that drove the encounter between Krystal and Silvanus, and that same fate drove this meeting between lead scout and lead warrior. “I’m glad to learn that Silvanus is doing well.” Krystal spoke after having learned that Kai too had met the wolf with sun and moon as eyes. “I hope to be fortunate enough to cross paths with him again. And share more of his wisdom; maybe even contribute a bit if I can.” There was a golden sheen to Kai’s golden optics as he spoke of Silvanus.
It was clear to Krystal that this mann had impacted the Koranian Beta as he had her, and probably so many others that were fortunate enough to encounter the traveler. Time had slipped away from the two wolves, what was once an afternoon of sky blue and clouds had melted into a sea of sunset fragrances that bled into the far reaches of the horizon, and signaled the coming change of reign. For soon, the hour of Tor would be on hand, and the heavens itself would change to suit the moon goddess’ preference. But in truth, Krystal hadn’t noticed the change at all until Kai had directed his attention skywards, ultimately causing Krystal to follow in suit. Her time spent with the Koranian was no less then wondrous, and before the lead scout knew it, night would soon fall upon them. Turning her bi-hued kaleidoscopes on the ebon beta, she took a moment view him.
Kai held the frame of a Beta, well muscled with a deep black pelt that ran the entire length of his body. Golden eyes were pools of intelligence, but held a cubbish nature deep within, and a humble kindness that could be both seen and heard. At first, the bi-hued Ge-Radian was going too accept the ebon warrior’s proposal on being escorted back to her homeland of Ge-Rad. But as Kai seemed to hold the look of searching in his eyes, she patiently waited for his lyrics; head tilted a bit in curiosity. As Kai finished, excitement filled Krystal and caused her tail to swish contently. Her smile mirrored his, for not only was he allowing the fae the honor of spending the night in such a magnificent land as Koran, she would also get the chance to spend more time with the Koran Beta, for she enjoyed his company greatly. “I’d be honored to stay in your land for the night, thank you.” Krystal spoke humbly.
Once again there was a cubbish nature that Krystal could detect within the eyes of the beta, as he gazed at her. “Well Kai, there is still some day light left.” Krystal spoke in reference to the sunset flavors that still hung in the heavens. “Perhaps a meal before we go?” Krystal suggested playfully, but there was a hint of noticeable challenge in her tone, as she took a few paw steps into the shallow portion of the river. The cool water of Koran’s mighty river engulfed her paws and half of her legs. With a playful smile and wink, she tried to coax Kai into hunting fish with her, and waited to see if he’d take up the challenge. Krystal was not without her playful side, and she waited to see if Kai would be willing to play with her, this game of fishing.

At the time, Kai had felt so blessed by Silvanus' kind words, that he believed him to be nothing short of a godsend. The male had ridiculed his own malformed leg and blind eye, and had been surprised that Kai did not issue him ridicule similar to others that undoubtedly had. "It would take a miracle, I think, for me to repay him for what he has done for me," Kai spoke in an almost grave tone. It bothered him that there seemed little he could do to repay such kindness, though sometimes (as he had yet to discover), returning kindness with kindness and friendship with friendship was sometimes enough.
He could feel his face growing warm beneath his fur as Krystal stared at him. He couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking as her eyes roved over his frame, his paws shifted somewhat nervously beneath him until her voice broke the silence. As the fae offered her affirmative reply to him, his smile grew into a mile-wide grin. "No thanks necessary. Koran is more than happy to have you," was his only reply on the subject, though his eyes glinted with a happiness he couldn't express outwardly. his tail began to sway contently behind him, mirroring the actions of the fae's own banner.
As Kai was about to turn and head back towards the dens, his action was halted by the ever-so-sweet sound of the Geradian's voice. Her suggestion was a simple one, and not too far-fetched, though it was still not something he had expected to hear, nor was it something he would have thought to suggest. Still, the fae's playful smile tugged at his mind, and the corners of his maw twitched with the beginnings of a grin. "Alright," he replied with a tone that seemed to say 'I'll humor you', though he was caught off guard by her wink and dropped his gaze in awkward embarrassment. He was by no means the competitive type, but taking one step forward, he followed Krystal to the water's edge all the same. Peering down into the crystalline stream, his reflection was disrupted by the the ripples caused by Krystal's entrance into the shallows. Darts of silver flashed just in front of his paws, his amber eyes shifted quickly to keep a hold on the moving targets.
His brow furrowed with deep concentration, he remained completely still for a few moments until finally, from its place on the bank a single paw lunged forward, causing the surface of the water to erupt into a series of small waves and splashes. Intermingled with the chaos, too, was a single shimmer of silver scales; a fish had found its way onto the land at his paws, its slick body still writhing with the convulsions of a contortionist. A sense of accomplishment washed over him, and for the moment, he was absorbed in his victory. Placing his paw over the wriggling fish, he turned his attention to Krystal and offered her a handsome smile before leaning his neck down to take a bite of his catch.

As Kai agreed to the idea of going fishing with the former Zanguzen, Krystal jumped in place with joy, causing water to splash in place and more ripples to glide along the surface of the Koran River. From a logical stand point, such an act would only hinder the two wolves from obtaining a catch, as no doubt any fish with decent intelligence would scatter away from the sudden activity on the rivers edge. However for Krystal, the point of fishing was not to catch fish, as much of an oxymoron as that sounds. Rather, the bi-colored Ge-Radian wanted to spend more time out with the lead warrior and beta of Koran. If one were to ask Krystal at this very moment why she wanted to spend more time with Kai, the Lead Scout would not be able to provide an answer, as she herself was confused on the subject. All the bi-colored fae knew is that for some reason she could not explain, she wanted to spend more time with Kai, and prolong the experience as much as time would allow.
As Krystal watched the ebon male stalk his pray with her bi-hued sapphire and emerald pools, her eyes could not help but explore the mann’s features, and her mind quickly came up with many reasons and explanations for her actions. His kindness and noble honor stuck out in the mind of the fae, for there was a true sense of humility about Kai that captivated the Lead Scout. Everything about Kai spoke of the truest, genuine nature, a rarity amongst wolves, especially among those with a prestige title like Beta, or Alpha. Yet Kai seemed immune to the negative effects often given off by holding such a title. There was not a drop of arrogance to his manner, not a glint of conceit to his name. The cub in Kai was as apparent to Krystal as the ever present Fenris in the sky. Sure there may be clouds to cover the mighty sun god from view, but you knew it was still there, his brilliance and warmth still radiating and providing life and stability.
“He’s so shy…” Krystal thought; those thoughts showing themselves in the form of a gentle smile as she watched the ebon beta successfully catch a meal. It was quickly becoming apparent to the bi-colored fae that she was developing a crush on Koran’s beta. And the thought of this development caused her shyness to kick into high gear. Moving her gaze downward momentarily, Krystal was comforted by the reflection of her image on crystal waters. She wondered for a moment what Kai thought of her, and then quickly put those thoughts in the back of her mind, as she turned her attention once again to the successful fisher wolf. “Wow you’re really good at this.” Krystal spoke, her words bathed in the warmth of envy. Her eyes gazed fondly at the handsome Beta as he bathed in the glow of his accomplishment. “I guess it’s my turn now. Wish me luck.” Krystal spoke with a playful wink and supple smile.
Sapphire and emerald kaleidoscopes scanned the waters around the fae. Of course the Ge-Radian wasn’t surprised to find that not a single fish could be found. With all the activity she had caused, there was no way the former Zanguzen would be anywhere near as successful as Kai was in this endeavor. However, an idea suddenly came to Krystal’s mind and a very playful and mischievous grin soon formed afterward. Tail now wagging with excitement, Krystal giggled a bit, unable to contain herself for what she was about to do. “I think I see one!” Krystal cried out in an excited and playful manner, as she eyed an empty spot along the edge of the lake. Without warning, the ebon and ivory fae swiped at the frosty river water, causing it to splash along Kai’s face just as he was about to enjoy his meal. “Oops, I guess I missed.” Krystal teased and winked, after all was said and done. And she waited to see what Kai’s reaction would be.
Falling for Koran's Midnight Beta

Krystal's enthusiasm for Kai's acceptance of the idea had still not worn off, for the Fae seemed more energetic and excited that he had seen her in the time he'd known her. He had gotten to see many other expressions from the Fae; Fear, anger, vengeance, wonder, contentment, all had shown themselves at one point or another during their encounter. He couldn't quite place a paw on the behavior she was exhibiting now, except that she seemed more giddy and happy to be fishing. Perhaps it was genuine hunger, and the perspective of food had her riled? Shaking the idea from his mind, he focused on his prize catch, unaware of the fae's stares of admiration and unbothered by the disruptions in the water that would make it impossible to catch another fish.
Moments later, the voice of the GeRadian rang out, expressing her surprise at a potential catch. A smile wrapped around his maw as he glanced sideways towards the fae, hoping to see her pull in a fish as he had. No sooner had he turned his head, he was met with a splash of cold water straight in his face. The shock from the icy water caused him to yelp out in surprise, his hackles now bristled as the alpine water dripped down his neck and onto the ground below. Wide eyes focused on the fae as he recovered from the initial shock and tried to regain his composure. "It- It must have gotten away," he said, staring intently at the swirling water as he approached Krystal to stand by her side. Unexpectedly, he gave his pelt a quick shake, chilled droplets flying outward, a great deal of them covering the nearby fae. Giving her a playful glance from the side of his vision, the corners of his mouth drew up into a small smile. "C'mon, it's getting late," he said, padding back over to his fish. Using his nose he pushed the fish over to Krystal's paws. "Here, you can have my fish. Bring it with you if you like." Amber eyes peered up at the fae before he rose back to his full stature, as though awaiting her approval. Giving one last glance to the river, he took one step, then two, making sure that he was being followed, in the direction of the dens.
The dens were located in the center of the packlands; not too far from the stream they had just fished from. The Alphas and Betas had their own dens, and there were enough for the remaining members to share if they cared to, or sleep alone. Padding up to one of the unused dens, Kai stood outside of it and took a moment to inspect it. It was a comfortable size, more than enough for one Varg and large enough for an ambitious duo. Casting a glance to Krystal, his eyes held that same, searching look. "Will this do? They're comfortable, I promise. I used to stay in these dens as a cub." He offered her a kind smile as he waited to hear her thoughts.
