If it's dead I didn't know (so I don't think it is). I'm actually using a Latin phrase for the name of my upcoming website. I guess no one really knows what Lusus Naturae means, but I know that just about everyone is familiar with the phrase Cave Canem (beware of the dog).

No, not a dead language.... Why do so many people take it as a language then?

Maybe because not many people take the time to learn it anymore, and it's not as popular as English and Spanish are. (doesn't know and is making up things XD) And not many people use it in everyday language.

I take latin class, in fact, I'm in Latin II next year! So, yeah, I say that its still alive, plus we use it in everyday things like reading or talking. Not only that but doctors use it to describe illnesses, medications and such. Latin is so alive. ^-^

I'm taking Spanish, just because I have to.
But, I think that it's dead to speak, like in a full out conversation. But, it's still used widely in names, and especially taxonomy (scientific names of animals, studied in Zoology).
I think people say it's "dead", because it isn't a "spoken language", if you know what I mean.

(I don't feel like looking it Up.) It's annoying when people say it's a dead language. I'm in Latin III. Ms. Mosely is nice(Fro knows who it is.) Marvelous. Shakó, it's spoken in a city in Italy. I forget which one it is though.

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!!!!!!! Miss Mosley is ANNOYING! How dare you repeat the dreaded word! *mutters under breath* Wonderful! *tries to erase both 'wonderful' and 'marvelous' out of dictionary* *coughs when is done* Latin is not dead. And it actually is spoken. Many people speak it, plus it's interwoven in almost every major language today. I'm in Latin II. Fun fun fun. I like how Latin is: it's so easy because of the connectors to English and science and stuff...it makes everything else easier while everything else makes it easier...Yay! *throws self a party* *dances Macarena and drinks punch* *takes shovel and serves self peanut butter M&Ms* And Zane, I was stupid enough to forget saying this in the last debate, but...you avvy says I can have a cookie, so I want it...now! White chocolate macadamia please! *waits* And if that's too much trouble, you can just give me the dough... *holds out paws* *drools*

in my opinion yes it is, becase there is no one country **at least that I am aware of** who's main comunication is the language of latin! for example, Itily uses Italian, Japan uses Japanese, Mexico uses spanish, ect. ect! sure its know about, but so are alot of other 'dead' languages!
its only so wel know becase scientific names are most all in latin, and its so old, and blah blah blah. but in my opinion its dead.

Hehe, Lusus Naturae means the Sport (or freak) of Nature.
*hands Farrah a bowl of dough* hehe, cookie dough!... alright, you can have a cookie too ^__^ of course, you need to sign a binding contract for life that keeps you on the dark side! And if that doesn't work we can always use medival torture as a threat for escape, or simply chain you to a stone wall in our dungeon o_O still want the cookie?

Cookie cookie cookie!!! ...wait...are the chains made of nickel, 'cause I'm nickel hypersensative...? *thinks* Who cares! *grabs cookie* I think I will name you Charlie...or Willie...or Debbie... And I disagree about it being dead. You said that for example, Itily uses Italian, Japan uses Japanese, Mexico uses spanish, ect. ect! sure its know about, but so are alot of other 'dead' languages! its only so wel know becase scientific names are most all in latin, and its so old, and blah blah blah. but in my opinion its dead. First off, there's no real place where the Romans eventually settled after their harsh downfall. When the aquaducts were plugged, leaving the 200 million inhabitants waterless, that number quickly fell to about 2000. Everyone moved to neighboring countries. But you see, they spread their language with them. Spanish, Romanian, German, French, English, Italian...they all have Latin heritage. There are SO many similarities...so by speaking those languages, you are PRACTICALLY speaking Latin. Besides, so many people speak it across the world in Latin class, and read it in books and mottos, and translate it from old scrolls. It's not dead. It's still breathing...I think...wait just a second... *checks heart monitor* *heart monitor is flatline* CLEAR!!! *bzzzz* *bzzz* *heart monitor goes steady again* ...yep. We're good.
