The leaves have started to change colors, covering the trees with layers different shades of crimson, orange and yellow and carpeting the ground as they fall. The days have gotten shorter and the weather cooler, but nothing yet to begin worrying about. There is still plenty of time before the harsh weather of winter sets in. Even though the mornings and nights are cold the days are still brilliantly warm, perfect autumn - or "Indian Summer" weather. As she sits at the base of an ancient oak tree Mist looks around and ponders these things, smiling a small smile as she realizes how much she loves this time of year. There are piles of leaves to jump and play in but still enough on the trees that they have lost none of their vibrant beauty. A perfect time for a mother of still-young cubs to be outside for the day.
Shaking her head slowly in amazement as she looks at her cubs the grey beta thinks how it seems like just yesterday when they were born... or just yesterday when she and Chayton were just talking about someday having cubs. Well, that day came soon for them, and now she wouldn't have it any other way. In her short time with their cubs she remembers the time before almost as if it was a dream. Her life has certainly changed. She will no longer wander as much as she used to, and now has much more responsibility, but that is part of life. She now has a duty to her family and has no regrets on that account. Once again she has been blessed by the gods and daily thanks Tor for her wisdom and blessings.
There are things the new mother never would have thought about that are now some of her favorite things. Watching her four cubs when they sleep or when they play is one of her greatest joys these past weeks. They are so innocent and so full of life and curiosity... It makes her occasionally think back on her own cubhood. She loved the autumn then too. Piles of leaves were a source of endless fun. Smiling she scans the area and mentally counts the small furry bodies. After making sure all four are in sight she sighs happily and lies down with her paws in front of her and her head up - a relaxed but still alert position - good for a mother in her place...

So many sights, sounds and smells; there simply wasn’t enough time in the day too take them all in. Life had been one curious adventure after another for the cream pup. From the moment his eyes opened, and legs strengthened this puppy proved him self to be quite the little rebel. On more then one occasion in his still short life, Ryu had already managed to get scolded for wandering off and teasing his siblings. It wasn’t that the ivory pup didn’t like his family; there was simply a need or will to venture off into the world of the restricted. His cerulean optics captured the autumn scenery displayed upon the Deorian landscape. Tree’s brushed in strokes of red, orange and yellow. The wind was gentle, yet still able to sweep some stray leaves into an aerial dance. And there, sitting at the base of a rather tall and old oak was his mother. She watched him with a kind and loving smile, perhaps today would be a day the reckless little radical could stay out of trouble.
The chances of that were about as likely as Fenris pulling a twenty-four hour reign. Sooner or later, something would spike the little cream pup’s curiosity. He glanced around and noticed his siblings close by, but didn’t pay them too much mind. Rather, his attention was now focused on a small rodent that had wandered out of its hole in the ground. The creature’s tiny form scurried along on the ground as quickly as its little legs could take it. And without a second thought, care or concern Ryu chased after the little morsel. Not for the purpose of eating it, for their source of sustenance still came from the regurgitated remains of their father Chayton. The little pup simply wanted to catch the mouse. He wanted the pleasure of trapping the creature, for reasons he could not explain. The little mouse darted toward one of Ryu’s siblings, and he quickly followed in toe with out a thought of crashing into one of them.

Torn, tattered, both elligable words to describe Chayton's appeareance. The once bright white coat was now a duller hue, but the blue markings shone strong, the only bright thing about the mann. He had wanted to thank Krystal and Ge-rad for helping and he was grateful to krystal. So he had taken a journey to Ge-rad, only he had never gotten there. It was a strange occourence that happened to him, one that put him behind schedul rather quickly, he was only suppsoed to be gone for a little while, the pups and Mist needed him. But....
Chayton stepped forward from the brush, watching Mist and Ryu for a moment before barking his greeting, hopefully they wouldn't be startled by his appeareance, he hadn't had a decent meal in a long time. But his family was more important at the moment. That was the reason he just stood watching them, as if he were in a dream. They looked familar, but he didn't really seem to understand what the entire situation lying ahead of him was. He was going to see all his pups, he had seen them when they were born, but now he would see them as they were older. It then dawned on him, he had no food for his children, nor Mist. He had in all ways failed as a father.
He hung his head, trying to clear his mind to speak, but all he could feel was shame. "Mist..." He looked up, watching her. "I'm sorry but...I have no food, I've been gone for days without a word and I return to you....ragged and miserable and of no help to you or the pups." He sat down, feeling the past coming back to haunt him, he felt the anger, the shame the sheer humiliation that he was no better than his father. He felt as though Mist could never look upon him again. "I'm sorry I've been gone ...I...I don't know what happened, I don't know where I was. I can't remember a thing." This was true, the blue and white mann couldn't remember a thing that had happened, he didn't even remember leaving. He felt helpless.

Eponine was hungry. Her stomach growled ferociously as she shakily rose to her paws to see the world and her mother. It seemed a bright day but Eponine’s bright, spirited, blue eyes were giving her a blurry reception and made what she saw a little deceptive. She toppled out into the light to search for food. Everything was dead silent or at least it was to her. All of her days of her life she had not heard a sound and so not knowing what that was, did not expect to. Her crème colored fur glistened in the day as her extremely small and skinny body moved clumsily toward what she assumed was her mothers scent.
She came to an abrupt halt, to abrupt for her feet apparently because she toppled head first into the ground. Her head hurt a bit but she regained her composure and looked to see a new smell joining the group, she new it had to be her father but she continued on course. Unaffected by any words that might be being spoken around her, because she could not hear them, she move heavily to her mother, though her weight was close to none. She hoped she wouldn’t trip before she reached her destination.

Endless watching of the pups takes up the silver beta's attention, especially when it comes to Ryu. So far the other pups don't wander or race about quite as much as the young mann. Time after time she counts them.... five... and always feels relief when all are there. A breath catches in her throat as she goes on to think that when she had the cubs she thought she would always have Chayton by her side to help with them and keep track of them. To her it seems that something must have gone wrong - the gods didn't intend it to be this way. Chayton had disappeared. He had gone to Ge-Rad to visit and thank Krystal for all she has done for the family... and he never returned. A trip to the allied pack had revealed no knowledge of him. He had never even made it there. Every time she thinks of him Mist feels an almost physical pain in her heart. Her most loved one is gone, and she will probably never see him again or know what happened to him.
Her sorrowful thoughts are cut off as a small whine reaches her ears. It is her youngest, Eponine. The tiny white fae is at least partially deaf, and her small paws do not support her as well as her those of her siblings. Motherly instincts taking over Mist swiftly stands and pads over to her small daughter, gently picking her up by the scruff of her neck and taking her back over to the pleasant coolness of the tree's shade. After allowing Eponine to situate herself and start nursing Mist looks back up to do another head count. She just finishes when a strong familiar scent assails her, followed almost immediately by a sharp bark and the sight of one she never expected to see again... Chayton.
Her heart tugs at her and she wants nothing more than to leap up and go running to her love, but there is another who needs her. Her fragile daughter depends on her for life, and she cannot abandon her even temporarily. A whine escapes her throat as she beckons Chayton to her. When he reaches her he lowers his head as if ashamed and quietly explains as best he can, apologizing sadly. Shaking her head and looking at him with mixed emotions shining from her golden eyes Mist whines again softly. "Oh Chayton... I thought I would never see you again. Your very presence makes those seem but trifles. You are what matters to me. You don't remember what happened - it's not your fault! You are always to quick to blame yourself my love... please, do not this time. I know you would have returned sooner if you could have. But now it doesn't matter. You're back, and everything will be alright."
((Gah, sorry it took so long for me to reply!! Also, I hope it's ok that I switched the happenings in Chayton and Eponine's posts... I couldn't think of a way to do it otherwise))

(( Ok, as far as RPs go and how many I've written, and I've written a lot, but not on this website, I think that this one was one of my favorites to write, but not my best. )) Delilah
Keeping my icy-blue orbs tightly shut, I lay in the cool grass next to my mother, trying to concentrate only of the sounds around me, willing myself to forget all of my other senses so I could think about only one. Each, one at a time. They were all so new to me, so different, that I wanted to experience them all for the first time by themselves with no other sense to interfere. So I was laying there, closing my eyes and trying my hardest not to breathe, concentrating.
The sounds.... I thought deeply, trying harder, always listening. The small little shrill sounds of some type of animal chirped repeatedly from the grass beneath my ivory paws. The churning of water sounded in the distance. The soft swish, swish of leaves ruffling, followed by the almost quiet thud of the leaves falling one-by-one from the trees and finally landing to the ground reached my ears. The melodious beat of many paws beating rapidly against the earth. The serene and tranquilly of the birds songs. All the many sounds rushed into my ears at once that I almost jumped in surprise. Some many noises! It was wonderful!
Then, lifting my ebony head and pinning my ears back against it, I opened my eyes and peered across the area. There were huge trees, their leaves of the many different shades of yellow, brown, red, green, and orange, all mixed together is a giant bunch. I watched, perplexed, as a small round bird with a scarlet belly swooshed down into one of the many trees and flew out a few heartbeats later. It returned again and repeated the same process. An involuntary smile stretched across my maw, while my thin ebony tail began to thump against the ground.
Still grinning, I closed my eyes once more and sniffed. Mostly all I could smell was wolf, but there was something else, something that I could not identify. I could also smell the crisp air; it smelled a lot like something wet. I could smell Mother the most, probably because she was closest to me. Or maybe because I'd gotten to know her scent more then anyone else, though I knew the rest of my family's scents too.
Shrugging, I lowered my head and licked the ground beneath my paws. Yuck, I thought sourly, shaking my head back and forth, trying to rid my mouth of the horrid taste. That was the nastiest thing I've ever tasted. I shook my head again, my blackened lips pulling back over my teeth. A mummer of contentment rumbled in my chest as I rolled onto my back, staring up at the sky. Even with that horrible taste still in my mouth, I still loved it here. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen, beside Mother anyway. And I could only think of one word for the scene around me.
Home.

Silve had been watching the gathering of this family for some time. New in the pack as she was, she did not know the names of many of those she watched, but she could tell from where she was that this was a wonderful and loving family, like the family she had once had before the bear and the river.
The silver fae shivered and whimpered low in her throat, the thought of the river was something she did not need right now. She noticed that the pups especially looked somewhat hungry, and she had only just brought down a small roe buck less than an hour hence, only a short distance from where she now stood.
Quiet as a shadow she returned to the site of the kill and chased off the few crows that had gathered to it since he had left it. She chewed off as large a chunk she could carry and this time made her presence known to her pack members. She dropped her small offering at the feet of the those that looked like the parents. "I hope I'm not intruding, but I offer you food in return for some company."
The young silver varg felt so nervous in front of so many others, she had not been among any gathering this large before. "Or I could go, if you like," she whispered, turning away.

It seemed to the blue and white mann that his life was blessed with something that was more than he could ever make sense of. Not only was his family here before him...no, but they were still loving. Despite his dissaperance. Mist, his love was here still loving him. She was understanding and forgiving. Oh how did Tor and Fenris bless him with such a wonderful mate, and a wonderful family.
He glanced around at his family. His puppies would only recognize his scent, since they had never seen him before. They had felt his warmth when they were only the size of his paws. But now they were bigger and a little older. They were still dependent on their parents. Luckily that would give him some time to make for his absence. Not that what happened had really been his fault. Well of that he couldn't be quite positive. It had happened so quickly that he didn't know what had truly happened.
At first they had come slowly, but they weren't Ge=-radians. They were some pack that he hadn't heard of. Said they were looking for a varg that had ties to the askook pack. He had denied these ties but they had seemed persistent, and that is when it all got hazy. He was still greatly tired, and assumed he had been runnning for most of this journey. But why, and where were these vargs now? Had he endangered his family by coming home?

After a few moments of just simply being near her beloved Chayton is enough for Mist. He is alive and alright and has returned. Wagging her tail slowly the mother of four smiles and takes a deep breath, the gloom of the last days passing like a cloud shadow. Looking up at Chayton as he sits beside her she leans toward him and licks his muzzle fondly before looking around at their pups. Delilah's encounter with the taste of the ground makes the beta laugh softly. "Delilah! Come here darling!" She calls softly to her daughter. "I can tell by the face you made that you've tasted better things." Smiling fondly at the pretty young pup she nuzzles her as she comes close.
A slightly familiar voice startles her slightly and makes her look up. It turns out to be a silver fae, from her scent, new to Deor. She has already gained a bit of Deor's scent but that of the kerl still lingers slightly on her coat. Listening to the fae's soft words Mist tilts her head and as Silve turns shyly away to leave the beta calls her back. "Wait. Do not go, you are welcome, do not fear. Thank you for the meat, it is a welcome offering, and of course you may stay. You are new to Deor? I believe I saw you once before from a distance, but we have not met. Allow me to introduce myself..." Smiling welcomingly she continues. "I am Mist, Deorian beta faemme... this is my family..."
((Meh, short, sorry... and I just posted out of turn 'cause I wanted someone to reply to Silve so she would be included. If anyone has a problem with my posting out of order, I can delete this if I must...)
