Joyo's blind eyes didn't do anything to deceive her of where she was going. Ever since she had become blind, she had trained herself to enhance her senses of hearing and smell so that she wouldn't be a blind fool.
As she wandered towards the smell of the water, she started to wonder about things. Her thoughts drifted to this new land that she had ventured to. It was unfamiliar to her, and she was slightly scared of it. But, she knew she would find a friend to guide her. Then she thought of how different she was from other normal vargs.
Her coat was the color of the grass and the leaves on the trees. She had a star that was the color of the night on her one shoulder. She knew it meant something, but she didn't know what. Again, she was blind, and so she never got to really see what the world was. She only has recollections of what the world was and looked like when she was a pup.
When she was a pup, her true family was attacked. Her parents were attacked and killed by a rogue bear. This bear slashed her eyes and made her blind. She looked forward to the day she found a bear. She would make it pay, giving it no mercy.
She giggled at these thoughts of silliness that she frequently had. She was always silently threatening the bear race for what they did to her family. And then, she hasn't seen her brother ever since that day. But she has managed to keep the scent of him close to her heart so that the day she does find him, she'll know it is him.
She neared the water, so she lowered her green head down until she felt the water touch her nose. She lapped up the clean, refreshing water. It refreshed her thirst. Now, if only she could find some food.
She had a way to make this work. She laid down and lowered her head to the ground, hoping she was blending into the landscape. Then, she listened and focused only on her sense of hearing. She listened to all of the noises around her, waiting for the sound of a deer.
Then she heard it. There was a slight crunching noise as the hooves of the deer approached. She waited for it to get closer. When it did, she jumped up and felt for the thing. There was a scuffle of fur and teeth, and then Joyo had the deer's neck in her teeth. She felt the warm blood filter into her mouth.
She ripped the flesh of the deer off and chomped down on it. She smiled to herself as she thought about having yet another successful catch. Sometimes, like this time, she got lucky and got the prey the first time. Other times, she went hungry for a few days. Still others, she would chase the prey over and over and over again until she got it and ate.
Then, she heard another noise. She jumped up and growled. These days, she had become very wary. She obviously couldn't see anything, so she had a slight disadvantage. But, that didn't mean she wasn't a good fighter.
She had trained for a very long time to become a good fighter. She had figured out how to keep the attacker right in front of her, where she had a powerful and usually fatal bite. But, she didn't like to use these tactics unless it was absolutely, positively, 100% necessary.
