The bright white orb hung lazily in the chaste blue sky. Fenris's rays shining just above the mountain tops and peering over the pointed edges of the giant 'hills'. Wisps of fog still slung to the sides of the mountains, clinging on to dear life as Fenris vanquished them into thin air. Even though summer was still upon the land, the land showed no signs of giving into the season's demand. The evergreen trees towered above the ground, making perfect perches for the birds that fluttered into the woods. Squirrels chattered along with their winged friends as though gossiping and chatting of the latest news. Small drops of dew formed at the very ends of each green pine needle. Growing heavier and heavier until the clear droplet fell onto the ground. Falling upon any unfortunate traveler that happens to pass by.
Oddly colored paws crushed the moist dead leaves on the forest, pushing them down into the muddy ground. A bright pink clashed with the greens and browns. Sparkling pink eyes glittered in the fall morning, trying to stare their way out of the misty shroud of fog. Ragged breaths escaped her maw and into the air, her eyes still searching through the grounded clouds. Dropping down onto her stomach, Rose's lungs heaved with effort. Pumping oxygen into her body and at the same time trying to keep her warm. Paws trembled and ached, grateful for the first rest in days. A pink tongue hanged limp from her maw, dangling in mid air as puffs of hot air came forth. That should do it. I'm well beyond the pack borders now....in fact perhaps way beyond it. A sense of joy and a triumph came into the 3 and a half month old pup. Even with a thousand scrapes, bruises, aches, and pains, Rose got up onto her hot pink paws. Strength returning to her at once in a great wave.
"Try and follow me now! See even a small cub can beat you at running! In your faces you mutts!" The overjoyed pup cried, only to collapse back down onto the ground. A few chuckles escaped out of her maw before clamping shut. Staring out into the open, Rose watched as small shapes of birds darted to and fro in the trees. Always leaving behind a stream of chatter and chirps. The wet pine needles and bits of dirt stuck onto her blood red fur, making it a disheveled mess of red, pink, brown, and black. A smile still plastered onto her face, Rose shakily got onto her feet. Still winded from her three day trek through the hills and part of the mountains. Urging her weary body on, Rose heaved herself down a few more feet.
Small sounds of hooves stamping on the ground alerted the tired Fae to the group of Herla near by. Their musky scent making saliva drip through the edges of her maw. Shaking her head at her foolish action, the red and pink cub crept closer to the small herd. Rose's pink eyes stared from the bushes, mentally noting the characteristics of each Herla. That one is to strong and the other one is probably to fast so.....which one? Her question was soon answered when her eyes fell onto the body of a young fawn. No bigger than herself, Rose licked the edges of her maw. Taking another small step before charging into the herd, straight for the small fawn.
Caught off guard, the Herla sprang into the forest. Not caring who was left behind and vanished into the shadows of the trees. Paws no longer aching, Rose lunged at the fawn. Tackling it into the ground and burying her teeth into the struggling Herla's neck. Holding on the thing until it was no longer buckling and kicking underneath her. Gasping, Rose shook her fur out, sending a cloud of dirt and dust free before sinking her teeth into the fawn. The smell of fresh blood and the sight of the fresh began to send her into a trance. Tearing through the small meal, Rose let the fresh blood drip down her chin and onto her chest fur.
When the bones were cleared of meat and was no than a pile of bones and fur, Rose licked her maw and left the clearing. Padding over to the nearby trees, the red and pink pup laid down. As she had many times before, Rose curled up into a small ball. So tired.... Curling her tail around herself before drifting off to sleep.
