‘Sometimes the world spins a little to fast’ Faolan mused. She lay on her back on the mountain’s gentle slope, gazing up at the darkening sky. Fenris was rather low, on the horizon, and Tor was just starting her slow dance across the heavens. Nights cool finger’s were beginning to lick her fur. She smiled sadly, she had come up here to be alone, but now more than anything, she wanted someone to talk to. She was so tired of being lonely. She wanted to love something, even if only a friend. She began to shake uncontrollably, hating herself, with no idea why. Her soft silver gaze turned away from the sphere of darkening light, for it caused her more pain than she believed she could bear. Slowly, she tried to calm herself, slowing her breathing, and making her mind go blank, until she could think about what she came here to think about.
She quietly thought of her pack, knowing she would never see them again. Her mother and father, so strong, so brave, her brothers, who, in her opinion, were the worlds best tellers of tales…. She found it to be to much again, and she cleared her mind. What she would give for a friend, for someone to talk to. She sighed, internally battling the pain, and setting up blocks to keep out the pain that had yet to come. She put everything she’d come to think about, no longer wanting to think about it, in a little hollow in the recesses of her mind, sealing it over with layers upon layers of barriers. Pulling herself together, Faolan forced herself to turn her head back to the sky.
She was shocked to see how long her internal struggle had taken. Fenris was now gone, leaving only a faint afterglow from his fiery glare, and Tor, though still low, was steadily tracing the steps of her mate across the endless sky. Sometime in the fast paced trek to this strange land, she had expected the sky to end, or for eternal night to take over, devoid of Tor or her daughters the stars to light the way. When that happened, she realized just how big the world was, and how fast it could leave a varg behind. The world would move so fast, if you stopped paying attention for just a blink of an eye, you could miss something so vitally important to your life, you would be left behind and forgotten. She stared up at the stars, sensing they were her own, they were just in different positions. She picked out familiar shapes, and the Wolf Trail, which was the final trail for a varg, the trail which her family was traveling right now.
She continued to stare up into the heavens, up into the vast expanse of which any living creature could never know, could never begin to even ponder. She desperately wanted a sign she wasn’t alone, she hadn’t been abandoned. She wanted to be curled up next to her mother, or learning from her father, or… oh the endless possibilities. The endless wants and needs of a pup. Still laying on her back, she gave a howl, so heartbreaking and torn lera all around shivered and gathered a bit closer to their families, as if their closeness could protect them from this callous world, from the horrors that could happen in the blink of an eye…

When Negi finally got a hold of his senses, he found himself a the base of a sloping landscape. His eyes followed it up the tree covered incline. Large boulders and shrubbery litter the ground of the gentle mountain slope.
"I wonder whats at the top," he said to himself before even noticing his paws were moving beneath him. Pulling the rest of him ahead. It appears he was gonna find out for himself.
"Negi slow down, these old bones can't move as quick as they use to." Negi's mind had shifted again back to his past, to once where he was happy and he wasn't alone. There was someone there, a companion. Standing still but a few seconds he looked down upon his front right paw, at the blue arrow shaped trinket he received that day so long ago. It wrapped around his ankle so tightly now. He chuckled when he thought about how it use to hang around his neck when he was a pup. "Your always getting yourself lost Negi," she giggled and place the arrow shaped trinket on Negi's neck. "I was given this a long time ago by someone very important to me. He told me that it would help me find my way if i ever got lost. When the time comes, the arrow will point you in the direction you need to go, to where you need to be." The arrow was hanging from the anklet pointing to the ground. Apparently he didn't need to be anywhere, he was not yet in his time of need.
He started to stroll up the mountain again, aimlessly heading up the to the top, in hopes to find something interesting there. A scent caught his attention, nose in the air he sniffed to get a better grasp on the scent. It smelt strangely familiar and at the same time not. His curiosity has gotten the better of him once again. It was dark and the scent lead him to a side of the mountain with the most gentle of slopes with a field of flowers. Insects fluttered about, but nothing could distract him from his mission of discovery. In a distance he could see something, it must have been what he nose picked up.

Faolan lay still, her eyes closed, for all the world asleep. But her mind worked, memories flooding in, but she was so tired that she couldn’t push them away, nor did she have the energy for another emotional display. She remembered stories her brothers would tell her ,and the plants Brondyn had told her about, ones to heal, and ones to stay away from. She remembered the quiet, fierce beta, Alastore, telling her the laws of the land, and showing his soft side only to her. Timorie, showing her to walk in a straight line… Timorie and Shoulen! She never found their bodies after the attack. ‘perhaps… no, something else to brood about. There is no one left. Stop killing yourself!’
[Faolan realized she wasn’t alone as a soft breeze blew across the slope. It gave off the scent of a male varg, but she couldn’t tell how old. Her ears flattened a bit, and she flew to her feet. She was rather frightened at the fact whomever it was could have been watching her, and knew she was vulnerable, and she wasn’t very big, so she very well wouldn’t be capable of fending for herself. ‘But I’ll give em a heck of a show’ she had hoped that she hadn’t been noticed, but as her gaze swept her surroundings, she saw a figure about a couple dozen branches away. It was fuzzy in the night’s darkness, but it was fairly obvious he was looking right at her. No way to avoid… a confrontation, a simple passing by, or maybe a place to stay the night? “H-he-hello” she took a step nearer the varg. His colors were becoming a bit clearer, perhaps an orangey color, with a cream, or a white? It was to dark.
Tor eye was mostly closed tonight, impairing her vision. Another breath of wind. No pack scents. A kerl? But that didn’t mean he wasn’t dangerous. She took a half step closer, but tensed preparing to spin and run. “I am Faolan. Who are you?” Her quiet, lilting voice surprised her. She hadn’t meant to talk. The wind was acting odd tonight, blowing all over, changing direction every couple seconds, carrying her voice to the varg, so even her quietest stammer could be heard. Then the cool wind began to get cold, showing signs of autumn. She gazed at him, waiting for him to speak, or attack, or something. She put a quiet nervous grin on her face and cocked her head, her insufferable ear flopping into her face for what had to be the thousandth time.

The familiar yet unfamiliar scent was even stronger then before. Even with the aroma of the field of wild flowers masking it. The smell of poppy, daisy, and cosmos filled the air. Negi had to pause just for a second closed his eyes to take it all in with one deep breath. The noise in his head quieted. Focused on the wind that rustled through his coat.
The trance of his curiosity lost its hold, returning him back to his sense. The breeze brought with it a subtle sound, almost impossible to make out. A whisper that traveled a long distance was almost decipherable. Was it the figure off in a distance? Was it trying to say something to him? Was it dangerous?
"What am i doing? I dont even know who that is and yet i was walking to it." Hesitation swept over him, and he disappeared into the dense meadow of wild flowers. His instinct told him to turn around and walk away, but his curiosity couldn't be squelched. There was only one thing to do.
He crept across the ground below the flowers, completely hidden. Or so he thought. The black tip of tail peaked out, like a shark stalking its prey. He quick crawled his way in the direction of the figure, every few yards popping his head from beneath the shrubbery to keep himself on course.

Faolan nervously realized the varg was trying not to be seen. Faolan gulped, tensing more so than before. She noticed that he was fully grown, at the very least two, three years old. For some strange reason, she didn’t bolt. No, not so strange. ‘He could catch me pretty easy.’ the little fae glanced around, wishing there was an older varg with her. ‘I’m tired of running my own life! I can’t do it on my own! Someone else make the decisions!’ But there was no one else, no one who knew how to handle these things. She growled to herself, cursing herself. Faolan called out louder than before, her voice rising like a hawks. “Who are you? What is your pack?! ” Talking without requesting permission form her brain thing was gonna get old, fast. And he still wasn't close enough, nor she loud enough, for her speech to be understandable to him.
‘Really! Was it such a good idea to come here? Sarnes and Balkar wolves running all over the place!’ The mann was much closer now, only ten branches away. She carefully assessed the situation she had found herself in. He was an orangey color, yes, with white - not cream, and black markings. His expression wasn’t hostile, and he seemed as curios about her as she was him. She took a hesitant step closer. ’ARE YOU INSANE?! DO YOU HONESTLY HAVE A DEATH WISH?!’ ‘Oh do shut up!’ she snapped. Sometimes she wondered if she had gone completely off the wall, talking to herself, and thinking about totally irrelevant things in, er, troublesome situations, like now, but she had concluded she just had a really annoying conscious. She shook her head, bringing herself out of deep thought, and quietly said ”Hello, I am Faolan. Who, may I ask, are you?” he was obviuosly close enough now for him to her her quiet voice, but perhaps not notice how different her voice was form other vargs in this region. she hoped he wouldn't. some vargs were kind, and didn't appear to notice at all, but others weren't so fast, and an odd expression would cross their face before they could cover it up. It simply took some by suprise, and she disliked drawing attention to herself. It drew attention. Grrr.
She then realized, that if he was indeed stalking her, he was terrible at it. It was rather like watching a cub play hide and seek, or tag, trying to stay out of sight, but constantly popping up to make sure your ‘prey’ was still in the same place as five seconds ago. She almost giggled, but caught herself, and put a very solemn expression on her face and worked very hard on keeping it that way. It was almost entirely clear to her that he was harmless, but she stayed tense, knowing a badger hole, twenty yards away that she could bolt into, and go out the back way. It was far to small for him to fit, she hoped.

Negi continued to move ahead, even with the commotion he heard coming from the newly identified Fae. He could make out only certain words, but it wasn't enough to fully tell what she was going on about. She was quite on the small side. A deep black coloring with patches of white. This wasn't enough information to please his curiosity, so he continued with his investigation.
She looked rather tense, frightened at the very least. But, what could she be afraid of, he wondered. Her muzzle moved again once more, but it was different this time. Her words, he understood them finally. Negi was started, but he didn't know why. All she had done was give her name, and ask for his. With these words Negi completely sunk into the shrubbery, and sat for several minuets. Contemplating what he should do next.
From beneath a patch of cosmos his voice emerged. "I am called Negi..." He paused again probably leaving her with a confused look on her face, but he wasn't good at dealing with new people. He was doing the best he could. "So ummm, why are you out here so late?" He questioned her from beneath his protective shield of flowers.

Faolan began to let her guard down, just a little, while trying not to laugh at the mann hiding in the bushes. “Why are you hiding from me? I swear, I‘m alone, and I‘m not that big.” Her eyes were bright with laughter, a quiet smile on her face. Night had fallen heavily on the land, the thin silver sliver that was Tor high above their heads, the stars bright against the night-dark sky. She took a couple steps, until she was right in front of him. Her infernal ear was still in her face.
She gave a shy smile. “What am I doing here? Er, I‘m not sure anymore. It wasn’t nearly this dark when I came up here, but I’m starting to wonder if I should have come around here at all, it being so close to Balkar and Sarnes territory. And you, Negi? May I ask what you‘re doing here? If you don‘t mind that is.”
Her smile was slightly sheepish now, as she was getting nervous, and she was blabbering, and she realized she was, and that she was having difficulty stopping the quick, choppy words falling out of her mouth. It was starting to get very chilly, wind blowing through her baby-soft fur. She liked it, but she would like it even better when her winter coat grew in. When she was a little bit bigger, and could retain most of her body heat.
She hunkered down in the thick ground covering with him. “If you like, I know a an old den just a little bit from here that’s pretty warm, and big enough for a couple wolves, so we won‘t be crowded. I mean, well, er, um…right.” She smiled uncertainly. “I wouldn‘t ask, but it‘s getting kinda cold. So, er, I mean, whatever you wanna do, um, sorry. I‘ll just shut up.” She was blabbering again. Great, now she must look like the worlds biggest idiot. Wonderful.

Negi lays beneath the flowers. He sat quietly as she responded to his previous questions, and then question him herself. Why was he there? What urged him to follow her scent?
"Im not really sure,"Negi responded from beneath the flower canopy. "For some reason I just needed to follow this scent that I came across. Im not sure why, but it was like i was on a leash it pulled me here."
He felt a little calmer now. He arose to his feet, shaking off all the pollen and petals that were stuck in his coat. But a blue cosmos got stuck behind his right ear. He shook and shook but it just wouldn't come out. Obviously ignoring it, Faolan continued to speak.
"It is getting a little cold..." Negi thought aloud. "But, umm," he paused for a second, "we only just met. It feels a little weird doing something like that." The look on her face told him she was disappointed. He didnt want to make her sad. "Well it is really cold, as long as getting out of the cold is all you wanna do."
Negi sat and waited for her response. As the cold night breeze blew in. It was cold and silent, not even the crickets were chirping, and the wonderful scent of the flowers were fading away. It was certain to be a cold night.

ooc- sorry about the responses for the next week or so, i sprained my wrist and fingers on my left hand -.-
Faolan scented the air, trying to pick out the scent he was talking about. The night air was sharpening, becoming colder. ‘How strange.’ It had been fairly warm the night before. She then realized this was a different land, and its seasons would be different. Suddenly, Negi rose up from the brush, showering the ground and her with flowers and pollen, making her sneeze. She hid her giggle at the flower stuck in his ear, and did a mental double-take. “What‘s a leash?” Frankly it sounded painful. Past experience of being pulled always was, but usually for her, it was her scruff, or her ear, but what in good Tor’s name was a leash? “But I do sorta know whatcha mean. sometimes its like you smell, see, or hear something you just gotta know exactly what it is, and what does.”
At her offer of a warm cave, Negi’s became uncomfortable. She was confused. She had taken refuge with many kind kerl, and offered the same to other lone wolves since she had been orphaned. She liked this strange wolf though. His personality was so different from other kerls she’d met. While he’d been hidden in the flowers, she’d drawn a picture of a cub in her head, and then he went and sat up, towering over her. It was like he knew less of how to act like a varg than she did. She was still a pup, she was learning. “Er, well, I didn‘t mean to make you uncomfortable, sir, but you know, it‘s a kerl‘s way to help other kerls. All wolves, actually, to help those that need it. Some are beginning to forget those unspoken rules, but I don‘t think I‘d be here if some vargs didn‘t help me on my way. I really didn‘t mean to make you uncomfortable, I‘m really sorry sir”
She felt really awkward, but at the very least she wasn’t blabbering anymore. Negi appeared to be relaxed and much calmer than he had a few moments ago, and Faolan relaxed all the way. She really was far to trusting, but she’d yet to learn better the hard way. This was the first cold night of the year, and it wasn’t truly freezing, but it was the kind of cold that went through her silky fur to her skin, and carried the growl that warned how hard it could bite. “Well, if ya wanna, I‘m gonna go now, cause it’s a bit creepy out tonight, and I think a bit of sleep‘ll be very nice, and if you don't, it was very nice meeting you sir, and I hope you find somewhere warm to stay.”She gazed at the mann, now thoroughly exhausted, the feeling creeping through her defenses to show in her eyes and stance.

Negi sits and thinks about his options. It was probably going to be a cold night tonight. Thanks to his curiosity, he was lost once again, but its not like he ever knew where he was. He gazed up into the heavens, dark clouds are forming in a distance. He was sure they would be heading his way. His muzzle rose toward the sky, and he could already smell it. Rain falling, how far it was he couldn't tell, it was undoubtedly on its way. Negi did enjoy sleeping under the start, but he never once liked the idea of having a layer of water being his blanket.
His thoughts drifted back to his past, where he always had a warm, and safe place to sleep. Warm and safe in his cocoon. He sighs and looks back down to the eyes of the one before him. She was relaxed and waited for his answer. He couldn't see anything he should be worried about. She was definitely younger then him, and smaller. He turned away. It could also be that she is the one that needed him. There is no way Negi could leave a person in need, at least good conscience. He had no choice but to accompany her.
He looked back at her. "I guess it will be alright," he replied with a smile on his face. "So umm... If the offer is still on the table, lead the way."

ooc - im so sorry it took so long
The mann appeared to be very deep in thought, as he looked out to the distant horizon. Faolan leaned up on the tips of her toes to see what he was looking at. There were heavy rain clouds a few miles away, heading towards them fast. She shivered and jumped as a crack of thunder ripped through the night. It sounded like Wolfbane was out, growling at the world for daring to be happy. “We‘d better hurry, the gods are angry tonight. Perhaps at the lera, or maybe each other. In all the old stories, Tor and Fenris are always at each others throats.”
He looked at her for a few seconds, deciding, seeming to be in a mental war with himself. Then Negi grinned and accepted, if “the offer was still on the table.” She‘d never heard that phrase before. “Yeah, it's still open, come on, it‘s not that far from here, and the way its set, it won‘t get flooded out.” Faolan was surprised at how relived she was. It was an older varg, and for a few strange moments, she felt like the gods had heard her silent scream, but then she decided that was stupid. And she was tough enough to take care of herself, well at least, whe she was by herself. She was far to small to fight off other varg, but every time that thought came to mind, she berated herself, and shoved it into a dusty corner of her mind she no longer used.
She turned and began to trot down the narrow path. She glance sideways at him and shyly asked, “If you don‘t mind me asking, sir, what‘s that blue thing on your ankle? Where are you from?” As they walked, she glanced at him with her eyes, which looked like they had stolen bits of the moons light. “Er, sorry, I ask to may questions, I‘m sorry, I didn‘t mean to be rude”

The two of them walked side by side on their way to a destination that remains unknown to Negi. Slowly he walked, silently. The meadow and the flowers, slowly became soft blades of grass. The forest grew thicker and thicker, more and more trees appeared before him. They walked in silence, but Negi could feel her eyes, they were gazing at him. But, they gazed secretly. It began to feel a little uncomfortable, just a little paranoid. Why did she keep staring at him, he wanted to know. Finally she her mouth and question Negi about his anklet, his precious charm.
Negi looked back at her and smiled. "First of all its not sir, just call me Negi, and you dont have to apologize so much." Negi looked down upon his right paw, lifted it and shook it. "You mean this?" The blue charms sparkled in the moonlight, and the arrow pointed towards the heavens for a moment and then back down to the dew covered grass below his feet. A feeling of tranquility could be seen in his face as he spoke. "This was given to me along time ago, by someone very important to me. And its very precious to me as well, since it is all i have left of her, my family." It got quiet again, and Negi gazed up into the night sky, lost in thought, lost in his past. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and continued to walk straight ahead.
He opened his eyes once again. His surroundings were different. Different, but so familiar. Everything was larger, the ground was sopping wet. He stood in front of a door of a tiny cottage, in a shallow puddle, shivering. Glancing down he saw his reflection. It wasn't his own, or well it was. but he looked different. His fur was soft, his paws were large and his ears flopped down around his face. A whine escaped from him, and seconds later the door creaked open. A figure stood in the door way, that towered over him. But Negi remained still, not at all affected by the great presence. "Oh look at you, your soaked. I told you not to go too far today. Probably got yourself lost again. Hurry inside so you can dry off. Negi looks up at her smile, and prances toward the door.
THUD
Collapsed on to the roots of a tall tree. He closed his eyes and shook off the pain in his head. He wasn't sure what just happened. The forest surrounded him again, the smell of rain was getting stronger. He gathered his thoughts and moved forward, leaving Faolan to watching him, speechless, and confused.
"Are you coming? The rain is approaching."

Faolan quietly watched Negi’s face while he told her about the anklet, for his emotions rushed across his face as water rushes through a river’s rapids. She immediately felt bad for bringing it up, because the emotions settle on a deep sadness, and Faolan quickly looked away. She smiled sadly at her feet, watching the ground for a while, both of them lapsing in to a deafening silence, at least it was to her. She didn’t want to make a fool of herself by dwelling on memories past and then becoming so consumed with emotions she would curl into an uncontrollable ball of pain.
All of a sudden, there was a loud THUNK! Faolan jumped in surprise, and whirled around. She was rather shocked to see Negi sitting dazed at the foot of a thick old oak she’d just pasted. She cocked her head in complete confusion as he shook himself and got up, then began to walk in the way they’d just came. He turned and asked if she was coming, that it would start raining soon. “Er, Negi, um, I’m still coming, but er, you know your going the wrong way, right? Um, are you okay? It sounded like you hit the tree pretty hard.” She waved her tail uncertainly, her snow-bright ear flopping into her midnight black face. Shaking her head to rid herself of the insufferable thing, and failing miserably. She walked up shyly, and said in her quietest voice “I can look at your forehead if you like, you might of cut it. There are plants here that can help the pain too.”
She sighed and met his gaze for a second, and looked away quickly, pretending that she looked away to find herbs for him to eat. She looked for a few minutes and quickly came back and laid them at his feet. “those in that big pile will help your headache, and the other pile will depend on how it looks.” she said quietly, and sat down, waiting for permission to look at his head.

Negi stops in his tracks. He thought to himself. It was true he had no idea where he was headed. So he would probably head in the wrong direction, even if he had not walked into a tree. But he wasnt one to admit he was wrong.
"Of course this isn't the right way," his eyes shift, "I just wanted to check out the backside of this tree. Yeah... lets go with that." He turned back toward her and sat down.
Blankly he looked in her general direction. It appeared to him as though she was talking, a concerned look in her eyes. But there what she said didn't make any sense to him. Maybe he hit is head a little to hard. Blurred vision, he blinked a few times to clear his sight, and hopefully whatever else was wrong with him at the moment. However,on his last blink, she disappeared from his vision. Sitting alone in a daze, for what felt like a long time, he waited for her, or at least for his vision to return to normal.
Moments later she finds her way back. Accompanied by two large piles of leaves. He wondered what she was going to do with them. Maybe she didn't think they were gonna make it to the den, and she planned to use the leaves as a make shift bed. Though that probably wasn't it. "Mmmmm." Sniff Sniff. "Something smells minty."
Faolan explains to him what these two piles are for. But Negi had something else on his mind. He was already deep in the larger pile . Searching for the mysterious scent, that he felt like rolling on.
"I'm fine," he replied still under the leaves, "thanks though."

Faolan stood still, gazing at Negi, who was rolling in the piles of herbs she‘d brought, unsure if he was okay or not. She smiled as he commented on the minty scent. “Okay, if your sure,” She said, a tad uncertainly. She shivered, the night getting colder and now a fine mist was falling, leaving a thin layer of water on their coats. “C’mon, we‘ better hurry.” Knowing it was impossible to outrun the rain, she started at a fast trot, easily capable of doing this for miles, but thankfully, tonight, she didn’t have to go that far. She turned her head to make sure Negi was following, and stumbled over a rock. She felt heat in her face, and the inside of her ears turned a bright pink. She kept her eyes on the ground for the next few steps, then stopped.
Her face still hot, she quietly said “We have to go under here. The den is big, but you need to be careful through the opening. The vines have a mind of their own, and they seem to be able to make just about anyone trip.” With that, she ducked her head, and went under the brush. She could stand almost all the way, so Negi would be able to manage it if he crawled. She went slow so he could follow. The small tunnel of branches and vines went on for a few more feet, and she tripped a few times in the opening, despite her own warning.
She stood up all the way and stretched. The cave may well have once been home to a bear, but now a large mann couldn’t get through, so she felt safe here. There were large, soft piles of dried grass and leaves to sleep on, courtesy of her old pack. She sat on one at the far end of the cave where it was dry and warm, wrapping her tail around her. She shook herself, and hunkered down in an attempt to get warm. She looked at Negi. “I‘m curios. You don‘t seem to know how to be a varg, kinda like a puppy, but, your so much older than me. Why?” That all came blurting out before she could stop her mouth. She blushed again. “Sorry. I just meant, well, er, I don‘t know what I meant.” Completely making a fool of herself now, she was unsure of what to say. “This is my packs old cave.” she said randomly, blabbering again.
