[Alright guys, this is an open thread - BUT there is an order for the start. Kai is to post after me, then both Alphas. After they've taken their turn feel free to join in.]
Side by side the two shadows walked, moving between the trees in near silence. Their bodies were closely matched, each sharing the well muscled physic of a warrior and a pelt of solid black. Experience seemed to weigh on each pair of shoulders and they both had their own past to carry, their own set of eternal scars. Anyone not looking close enough may have mistaken the two wolves for one and the same, a trick of the light, not realizing that the two were in fact separate. To the left, the dark wolf possessed a set of bright emerald eyes. His gaze danced around them, flicking from object to object in careful surveillance. This was his home and the land of those he loved, anything out of place would be carefully investigated as to determine it's intent. To his right, the mirror image walked, with eyes of vibrant amber gold. He smelled of others, a pack of his own, completely separate from the wolves that inhabited this area. He was Kai, Beta to the Koran pack while the green eyed wolf was Dakota, Beta to the lands of Deor. Together they walked deeper into the forest, to the small clearing in which the meeting would take place.
Dak shifted his eyes to watch Kai walk beside him and smiled slightly. It had been a long time since he'd seen his old friend, years now seemed. The two had grown up together for a time, sharing adventures that should have resulted in more scars then they did. He carried one lasting mark, a jagged bracelet of white that encircled his left foreleg as a constant reminder to the stupidity of youth. And yet the male was sure he wouldn't have changed a thing had he been offered the option, after all there had been memories there as well. Happiness he had dwelt on during times of strife. After they had parted ways Dakota had lost contact with his childhood companion, loosing sight of his past and becoming wrapped up in dealings that had been best left alone. It wasn't until recently that he'd been able to rekindle old ties with those he'd known before, and to find his home in Deor once more. Even more lucky was the fact that Kai had stumbled upon him during a hunt earlier in the day. He was on a mission, he'd said. Set out to confirm the alliances for his own pack and eager to meet the alphas of Deor's bold lands. It hadn't been instantaneous, but the two wolves had soon recognized each other, thrown back for a moment to their young days together. And in that short time it had been as if neither had ever parted, both spilling their current lives in turn.
Now as Dakota walked, his mind whirred with the thoughts and feelings that had been brought to the surface in recent moments. Upon hearing Dak's story, Kai had been quick to offer his support and advice to his old friend. His words had made sense to Dak then, and though they still did now he couldn't help but question the differing views. Whereas Dakota eagerly took on the responsibility of others, of their wellbeing and safety, Kai had been quick to warn him of this practice. To suggest that such things would soon lead to a path that could not be returned from, that one might loose themselves in such a quest. Dak knew that his friend spoke with concern, but what, he wondered, would Kai have him do? Leave the suffering to walk alone, as he once had? How could that be right? How could he really step aside knowing that it was possible he could be of aid? The questions plagued him, as many often did these days yet he did not speak of these thoughts. Their views were clearly different and Dak wished not to get into an argument so new into the rekindled friendship. Shaking the clouds from his mind, Dakota turned to Kai and laughed quietly.
"Excuse me, brother.", he said heartily. "I sometimes get caught up in my own mind...I forget that I should be entertaining those in my company. This is Deor, the Land of the Bold. It's quite beautiful this time of year...if I do say so myself. Winter is coming and I must say, I'm thankful. This summer's heat will be the death of the dark skinned, I think." Offering the Koran warrior another customary wink, the male affirmed that he too had felt the relentless heat waves earlier in the day. "See there?", he asked, tilting his muzzle off to the side. "Those are the dens. My usual spot is just to the left of the Alpha's resting place...though I do not often stay there. I prefer the openness I guess. Don't feel quite as cornered when I am among the trees." Dak felt silly, talking as he was. It was not the casual manner that bothered him, but rather the subject matter. Would Kai honestly care to hear about such trivial details of his life? "Here we are.", he said at last, breaking through the trees and into a small grass clearing. "I can call to the pack from here, the Alphas will come to meet you." The male paused for a moment, watching his friend. Almost without notice, his face shifted into the look of someone deep in remembrance. "Do you remember...", he whispered quietly. "The first time we tried to howl?" Dak had been so excited that day, raising his young voice to mingle with Kai's. "Tell me, old friend.", he said, flashing a smile reminiscent of that time, his voice taking on a teasing tone. "Have I gotten any better?" Then, raising his head proudly into the air Dakota released his deep and booming call, summing his brethren to come and meet the gold eyed shadow.
[Uhm. Sorry for the length. Just trying to give background for those that haven't read the other thread!]

Keeping pace with the shadow at his side, the silence offered him a bit of time to reflect; On their shared past, on the very different paths they had each taken, on the journey that lie ahead of them. Dakota's steps were the calculated movements of one who knew the land well. Kai imagined that his paws had covered the pack lands many times, for he had much finesse to show for his considerably short stay in the pack. The male's features were strong and bold; He had changed so much from the carefree, spur-of-the-moment pup without worry, for also visible in his features was the telltale sign of age. Stress, it seemed, had overtaken him; The heart-wrenching ordeal concerning his friend in Sarnes had taken much of his mind, as well as his heart. He had managed to remain strong though, as always, and rather than being consumed, for now, he used the turmoil as a driving force; something to live for rather than a reason to give up. Seeing his friend completely transformed left Kai in a state of deep contemplation and awe; how time robs us all, and the terrible marks it leaves! The tired form of his companion before him caused his attention to turn back towards himself. How did he appear different in the emerald eyes of his old friend? Surely he had not changed so much from the days when they both were cubs, for though much had happened between then and now, all of the events seemed to blur together in the Koran Beta's mind, all of the obstacles he had overcome seemed dulled when compared to what his friend had become as a result of his trials. Though the both of them were of equal rank and each had met their hardships, Dakota somehow seemed so elevated in Kai's mind as to have achieved some level of success that he never would; he did not envy Dakota the weight of his burden, but the way he handled himself and the confidence he wore as comfortable as his pelt were things to be envied for certain.
The two had experienced, quite early in their encounter, a disagreement of sorts. Being the mild-mannered gentlemen that they were, each had dismissed the dispute almost immediately, though the silence that had ensued made it clear that the smoke had not cleared completely. Kai dreaded any sort of rebuttal from his friend; they had never argued before, and to do so now, when he was to be meeting Dakota's new family, would only cause disaster and even distrust. No, it was better that neither of them mention anything of it again. Things had a way of working themselves out, whether for better or worse; in truth, he had no idea what he would do in that situation, or what he would have Dakota do. It seemed unfair to ask him to sit idly by, but also somewhat necessary in order to preserve any part of himself that was left. Of course he hoped that the tangles in Dakota's life would smooth out with minimal effort and vexation, though he understood that no matter what approach his friend took, whether dedicating his whole being to the solution as he intended to, or simply sitting back and watching things unfold, nothing could be classified as painless. Without speaking a word he returned his friend's smile.
A quiet chuckle from his traveling companion quickly caught his attention. He was thankful for the interruption which served to dissipate his hovering thoughts of discontent. His expression was quick to mirror Dakota's, the resemblance between the two handsome males being more natural in joy rather than despair. Following the cue of his guide, his bright eyes were redirected to the fresh, new scenery now surrounding them. Crumpled leaves crunched almost unnoticebly underfoot, the vibrant reds and oranges littering the ground in beautiful, eye-catching patterns. "This place, your home, it's beautiful" he said, captivated. Koran looked similar in that it too was affected by the autumn changes, though he was already aware of the beauty of his own land. "It is easy to see why you stay, why you have chosen to call this your own." He offered a toothy grin and a nod of approval, "Yes, sometimes I think we are doomed to suffer worse than any other in the forest; blending with the shadows is not so important that we must suffer such discomfort by the light of day."
It was refreshing to hear that his friend had chosen certain aspects of the packland to make his own; dwelling grounds that were favored more than other parts of the territory. He, too, had his desired spots in Koran, though like his friend, he was in constant motion more than he sat dormant. "I understand. After Zhentee's death I became quite the wanderer myself, though I suppose that's another part of the kerl spirit within me that was never satiated with the consistency of pack life."
Upon reaching the clearing his pace slowed until finally he stood still beside his escort. Anticipation began building within him, along with a reserved sort of fear and worry. Still, he maintained his eager grin, and the prospect of meeting those who had completed Dakota's life outweighed the dread that tugged at his mind. "I am eager to meet your Alphas, though I must admit, I am also a bit intimidated." It felt natural to openly admit such feelings to his friend, though he hoped he he would be able to hide such feelings when he was face to face with the higher ranking wolves. Suddenly, Dakota's voice dropped to a mere whisper, prompting him to listen harder, pricking his ears forward and leaning a bit closer to catch his hushed words. His grin grew as the memories flooded his mind; they had been so young, and with so much yet to learn. "How could I forget?" he chuckled. The world seemed to fall silent in expectation, even the gently swirling wind died down to an unheard lull, casting an almost eerie stillness over the land of Deor. Breaking the silence came the proud and practiced voice of his friend, his rich vocals filling every conceivable void in the atmosphere with a demanding yet respectful tone that only a profound fondness for his land could have shaped. The beautiful notes captivated the amber-eyed male even as they faded into the distant mountains. "You have made quite the improvement, I must say," he replied impishly. "Your Alphas would have to be deaf to your dedication to not allow themselves to be summoned by such a call. I only hope they welcome a humble ally with the same receipt you have been blessed with." With that, he stood in silence, his tail swaying contentedly behind him as the gentle breeze picked up where it had halted, slowly inciting the world into action once more.

Post by Mist on Nov 28, 2008 22:14:16 GMT -5
Unaware of the two friends' conversation or even presence in her beloved pack, Mist is standing quite still in a shallow bend of the wide stream that makes its way happily through the packlands. Though the water is certainly cooler than it is in the height of summer heat, she does not mind its cool touch. This place brings back many memories to her, and plus it is a good place for easy fishing. This stretch of the stream is not far from the place where she and Dakota officially became mates, and she used to fish close to this place often with Chayton. Indeed, if she were to think about it she would have many times to think on. As it is, her mind is focused mainly on the task at hand and her most recent and vivid memory with the ebon beta. A small smile dances across her face every once in a while as vivid pictures of her mate come to mind. It is so easy to smile when thinking of him, for though he is everything she would wish in a beta, he also knows how to make her laugh and feel as if they are the only two vargs in the world.
Finding her mind start to wander she pulls it back to her fishing and focuses back on the clear water beneath her. A good sized trout swims lazily near her and she watches him, her golden eyes the only part of her to move at all noticeably. An experienced fisher she gauges the distance to him and fractionally shakes her head. If she were to try and catch him, it would most likely be a miss, and she would disturb the water and all the rest of the fish, and it would take her even longer to get a catch. Pulling her eyes away from the trout she looks further upstream, a somewhat smaller greyling catching her eye. Eyes glinting as she watches the silver-grey fish move toward her she is sure this one will be lunch. He is smaller, yes, but she is alone today, and a somewhat smaller fish will be plenty. Not yet... Just a little closer... She tells herself silently, not taking her eyes off the fish for a moment. Every muscle in her lithe body is tensed for the plunge. Almost there... And she springs! Her knife-sharp teeth flashing once in the sunlight before she dives her head under the water, straight into the path of the startled fish. It has no chance to swim away as her powerful jaws close around its middle, breaking its spine in one clean snap.
Pulling up out of the water Mist wades happily back to the shore, her eyes laughing for her, as she can't very well with a fish in her mouth. Throwing the limp greyling up onto the bank she shakes herself, sending clear water droplets flashing in the sun to land on the dry grass of the bank. Making a quick meal of the fish she is just about to sit down in the still-warm sun when a familiar sound comes to her keen ears. Pricking them so their ebon tips stand straight up she feels her heart start to beat faster and her eyes beam excitedly. It is Dakota. He has come home. Pushing herself up to all four paws, Mist springs lightly forward with the grace of a born-Drappa. There was something in her mate's howl besides a call for her. There was more of the beta in that howl - as if he has something to tell both the alphas - or someone to show. Lifting her own voice to the skies she replies in turn, her own alto voice mingling with the memories of Dakota's.
The silver Drappa covers her packlands quite swiftly, knowing the best ways to go and picturing the area where the beta surely is. Only a few moments have passed since Dakota lifted up his voice to howl his beautiful song, and the echoes of the notes still ring in Mist's ears, urging her foreward with the promise of his presence. As she nears the wooded area, she slows to a steady lope, and sees a glimpse of her mate through the trees, with another ebon mann. The sight gives her pause though she only slightly falters in her stride. She is confident - she is the Drappa - and there was nothing in Dak's call to indicate an unwelcome intruder. Slowing even more to a graceful walk she pads into the manns' sight, her eyes sparkling clearly as she looks toward her beloved. She has not forgotten the formalities, however, and after sending a look to Dakota she looks at his companion. Her voice is musical and evidently happy, but very much that of a welcoming Drappa as she speaks. "Welcome, stranger, to the lands of Deor. I am this pack's Drappa, called Mist. I see you are friends with Dakota, which is a fact that makes you doubly welcome..." Turning for only a moment away from the golden-eyed stranger she crosses the short distance between herself and her mate and brushes up against him in a loving welcome before turning her shining eyes back to meet those of the other ebon mann.
((Hmm, I wasn't sure if she should say something else or anything. Please tell me what you think.))

Post by Chalos Autumn on Dec 2, 2008 2:27:37 GMT -5
As the dark pair entered the packland unseen, Chalos was stood atop a small bluff, surveying his territory with appreciative eyes. He could not help but brood over how quickly Deor seemed to have fallen into its pre-winter season – first, it was summer, and suddenly one could look out from the dens and see the tell-tale coloured leaves of the year’s next phase. On this particular day, the world was crisp and truly smelled ripe with autumn; the wind had slowly picked up throughout the morning, providing midday relief to both those who stood on higher ground and those outside the forest. His nose worked furiously, studying each and every wave of air, both learning anew and remembering the scents brought to him. Those brilliant eyes had closed after a time and he simply stood there, taking in the world around him and for a moment, for just the smallest moment, he was truly happy.
The howl pierced his thoughts like a child's innocent finger through a floating bubble. The massive Mann blinked, stirred from his reverie. He did not immediately move, but instead stood just a while longer to admire the clean tone of Dakota's call. He fancied he'd not heard the ebon beta speak so and could not help but release a howl of his own. Though it was low and seemed to rise from the very depths of his chest, it was pure and strident and traveled along like thunder on the wind, a true alpha's bellow. Only then did he move, muscles not failing to put him effortlessly into motion despite the length of time they'd remained unused. He traveled like a ghost of the land, weaving through obstacles as if he had grown up around them, running with such grace and with such a smooth gait that at his fastest he appeared to soar. The mere feeling of the air whipping his fur as he bounded along nearly shoved the Dragga into another trance, but he discovered beforehand that he was drawing close to the call's host and those who had possibly already joined him.
Chalos slowed before he approached the trio, believing it was rude to burst in on fellow varg, guest and packmember alike. He made his entrance at a gentle pace, lungs working lightly with the run he'd so recently had, small puffs of steam rising from his maw with each breath. Eyes bright with intelligence studied Kai politely before the alpha bowed his head to each of the three wolves, a display of respect their guest may have never seen in any of Transylvania's other packs. Indeed, it was highly unorthodox for an alpha, especially an alpha male, to lower his head and show respect for anyone. His greetings finished, Chalos turned to Kai, not hesitating to move as close as he dared to the stranger.
"They say varg used to speak with the wind." He said quietly to no one in particular, his voice calm and almost sagely in tone as he turned to look from one varg to the other. "If you take the time to listen, its scents can tell you everything; it has the ability to sharpen the senses and expand the mind. Keep that in your head the next time you've a moment to spare or have found yourself unsure of which way is home." His emerald eyes settled upon Dakota for a moment, watching for his reaction before he returned his attention to Kai. With a small smile, he lowered his head to touch noses with the Koran beta. The black-and-rust Deorian seemed to change tone then, for he straightened, standing tall as his tail raised with authority. "Right, then. You may come to know me as Chalos, Dragga of this land, uncle of previous-Dragga Thunder and also relative-in-law to the famed Drappa Aztec, may Fenris bless their souls. Seeing as you smell as though you've been traveling with our own Dakota for a good distance, you are welcome to Deor, so long as you stray from causing trouble. Your scent also tells of packlife, that of a pack I've yet to know, I think. And since you don't seem in much of a hurry, if you've a message to relay, I suggest you first take time to rest and feed."
[What the hell, that last paragraph is so strange. I hate entrances. And I hate being rushed to get off the bloody computer towards the end of a post. Pff. ]

The land of Deor was set deep in the hues of orange and red, the flavors of autumn had saturated the land and served as a marker for times ahead. Though the true beauty of Deor rests in the heart of the autumn season, one could not mistake the gentle time as nothing more than a literal “calm before the storm”. Winter was just around the corner, and every now and then the winds themselves would bring a chilling reminder to the lera and varg of the region. The wolves of Deor were kept very busy in preparation for the winter season. Lera would of course migrate to warmer climates, and those herds that stayed would need to be monitored closely to insure the survival of the Deorian’s. At only a year a spare change for months under Ryu’s paw, young as he may be, even the beige male was aware of the coming danger that loomed over Deor’s land in similar fashion to the clouds overhead. Not too long ago, a storm had ripped its way into the land of Deor with intent to plunder and pillage the terra of all sorts of life, plant and animal like. The young Deorian had the misfortune of being caught in the heart of the tempest, and together Koiji, Deor’s newly appointed ivory scout, they had both managed to survive what would otherwise be considered probable fatal conditions.
Ryu walked the terra of Deor along the paths most familiar to him. Deor’s rolling hills stretched deep into the forest and splintered the trees of the land in all sorts of directions. Fenris’ light could catch an occasional opening in this perpetual maze of wood and the sun god could touch the ground in the form of a beam of light. Such light sources illuminated the forest and added a sense of wonder and mystique to the elegance of Deor’s landscape. Ryu’s course in life was like the paths of Deor, they wound and bounded in all which ways and rose and dip with the hills of change, each one proving to be a difficult trial and challenge for a wolf with still so much to learn. His thoughts for the moment were lost in his time spent with Koiji. The two wolves had managed to find safety from the last tempest thanks to quick thinking and knowledge of the region. But by no means was the venture to safety an easy one. Ryu had suffered a sprained paw from his efforts to keep the young scout safe from harm and in by doing so, caused he himself to need saving. In the golden eyes of this defender, whose purpose is to protect those he cares for, the event only served to further bring into focus how much more he needed to train, grow and learn. For Ryu was simply still too keep the promises he had made.
Ryu’s mind also reminisced on his encounter with Deor’s Beta, the ebon knight of the pack known as Dakota. The encounter was doomed from the start and by the end of the meeting, at least the younger of the two Deorian’s had left with indifference. He knew so little of the ebon knight, and all ready it seemed that Dakota would play a major role in the life of Ryu’s mother, perhaps that of a mate if it hadn’t all ready happened. So far, Mist hasn’t told her son anything about a possible courtship, but Ryu was not naive to the concept of what could very well all ready be a partnership between ebon beta and silver drappa. As much as Ryu tried, he could not see this union ship as anymore than just a simple insult to the name and memory of his true father Chayton. The death of Deor’s guard was still fresh in the memories of the pack, and that coupled with the fact that Ryu knew little to nothing about Dakota as a whole didn’t help matters either. He wondered for a moment what Delilah thought about the subject, and questioned if she even knew about what was going on. The beige male was so deep in thought, that only the sudden howl of Deorian wolves worked to bring him back into reality.
Silently Ryu listened to the mantra and tunes that played and reverberated to reach every corner of Deorian land. Beige auds perked to full alert as he decoded the message in his mind. There was to be a meeting of varg, and such a meeting would involve the alphas of Deor. It also appeared that Dakota would be among them, and Ryu wondered what was going on. There seemed to be no air of danger in the tune that had been played, but nevertheless it would involve Mist and that was reason enough for Ryu to investigate, with or without an invitation. With that bit settled, the beige Deorian trekked in the general direction of Dakota’s howl, which took Ryu along a path that would ultimately lead to the pack dens. As he neared, the strong scent of the alpha’s engulfed his sense, indicating that Chalos and Mist had all ready arrived. Dakota’s secnt was also in this concoction of aromas, no surprise there. “I wonder what this is all about.” Ryu thought. Still, there was one more scent left unidentified, one that remained foreign to Ryu’s nose. Curiosity was quickly beginning to build, and in turn governed the male into the clearing.
Golden orbs were met with the sight of four vargs. Three of which belonged under the flag of Deor, and the fourth did not. Ryu couldn’t have picked a more awkward moment to walk in, as his golden optics caught the sight of Chalos, nose to nose with this stranger who at first glance was the spitting image of Dakota. In fact, for that first instant Ryu thought the ebon male in question was Dakota. If not for the eyes, the two wolves would be like shadows of the other, and it was only when Ryu noted the amber eyes of this stranger, could he pick off the two shadows as being different. The beige defender’s initial reaction was to tense himself, ready to jump in at a moment’s notice to what looked like the comings of a violent encounter. But when Chalos pulled himself back, Ryu loosened a bit, choosing now to simply study the situation. An introduction was then given on Chalos’ part, and what tension remained now faded into memory. Ryu had emerged a few paw steps or so away from his mother’s position. And in by doing so, he chose to pad up to Mist’s side and greet her first. “Mother, what is this all about?” Ryu asked, concerned over the situation. His gaze then turned toward the direction of Chalos, Dakota and Kai as he waited to be informed. “The one standing by Dakota,” Ryu whispered, only audible to Mist. “It’s as if he is a walking shadow of him.” Golden gaze fell on Dakota, and if carefully read, one could sense the indifference in those pools when they looked upon the noble knight. Dakota and Kai were nearly twins of each other, both carried the frame and muscle of warriors, and carried on their shoulders the strength needed to protect, strength that Ryu needed if he wished to do the same.

[So, I know there are others that plan to join - but I promise, there's a reason for me replying again so soon. It just breaks things up a bit so that we're not all replying to 20 entry posts at once. Just makes a bit more sense when it comes to thread 'flow']
As his voice rose higher to the meet the tree tops, Dak felt as he often did when howling, that his spirit rose with the echoing notes. It was like a release, all feeling flooding out in a single breath. The male was not good at sharing his inner thoughts, and it was on these few occasions that he lifted his head high and felt truly uninhibited. A wolf's song was open to so much interpretation he knew that no words would ever be needed to explain it's intent. Those close enough would simply need to listen, and they would hear the secrets and truths echoing in his heart. As his own voice ended, Dakota took a deep breath and turned back to Kai. "Do not worry.", he said. "The leaders of this land are benevolent. They will welcome a good ambassador...especially now with winter coming. It will sooth everyone to know that alliances are tight." Dak paused a moment, his sight trailing away from Kai as another voice rose in the air. A slight smile curved across his maw and perhaps unknowingly, the male found himself standing a bit straighter. His neck arched up in a proud stance, ears alert to the wind. "Kai...", he whispered, without turning to face his friend. "That voice. That's the Drappa, her title is Mist. But...there's more then that. It's real recent and I don't know why I didn't share it with you before...I guess maybe I still wasn't sure. I got caught up in the tales of our past I guess...I dunno. Forgive me, Kai. Mist isn't just someone I've grown close to...she's my mate." Dak kept his eyes averted from Kai's own amber stare if for just a moment longer. He felt as if he had somehow sinned, kept something special and important from his friend and no matter how hard he thought about it, no reasoning came up to support the actions. There was nothing he could do but stand and wait, for either a reaction or an interruption as Deor's members answered his summons.
The male's breath caught in his throat, both relived and excited to see Deor's Drappa finally break through the trees. Her silver body glimmered in the light as she moved toward them, using grace that seemed more inborn in her then learned over time. As she came closer, Dak's dark face lit in a smile of longing and love. He didn't have many ties keeping him in one place these days, but those that did exist were strong and the Beta was always pleased to rekindle a meeting with any such wolf, the fae especially. Mist brushed against Dak's body and he turned to her, pressing his forehead against her neck and breathing in the thick familiar scent of her fur. "Hello, Love.", he whispered quietly before pulling away. "I am pleased to be home." Bold notes hung on the air as they stood close and Dak knew this meant Chalos was close, that the Dragga would soon arrive to see who had entered his lands. It seemed like only seconds before this thought was answered and the auburn wolf appeared before them. His steps were measured and confident, but gentle as well. He did not burst in on them, rather taking the time to assess the group that was slowly forming. Dak inclined his own head in response to Chalos's gesture, his ears sweeping back against his skull in respect for the leader. "Chalos.", Dakota rumbled softly, welcoming his presence.
The mann's emerald gaze twisted around them, watching for any other newcomers. Only one other appeared soon after Chalos's arrival, his beige body coming soundlessly across the lands. Ryu..., Dak thought quietly, recognizing the wolf for Mist's eldest son. Their relationship was volatile at best, each having his own reason for distaste when it came to the other. Each had lashed out and each carried a share of the blame. Dak knew he should have been better at handling the youth, that he should have shown his age and remained above a petty spat but the wolf had pushed him. He'd pulled at all the right strings, triggering Dak's temper until the point that he only remained half in control. Until Ryu had no longer been a wayward pup, instead taking the form of just another adversary. Just another soul standing between the male and his own path to redemption. Now though, with his head cooled Dakota still found himself resenting the smaller mann. His eye's watched him harshly, looking for fault rather then potential. They did not speak to each other, neither stepping up to be the bigger soul, to shoulder the blame on his own. Instead an indifference past between them, an understanding, cold and uncaring. Turning from the young defender, Dak focused his attention the Alpha's, his ears missing Ryu's whispered inquiry.
Chalos spoke before him, offering a bit of wisdom that Dak had not heard before. He found his head nodding slightly under the male's bright stare, indicating that perhaps he'd caught the underlying message. Chalos was wise and skilled, a formidable leader. Dakota was honored to serve under him as well as live in his lands. It had been a miracle that maybe the Dragga didn't even know of, for it seemed like the two of them rarely had time to talk alone, but Dak now knew where his home was. Without Chalos's willingness to welcome him back, the male knew he might have been left to wander for an untold amount of time. "This is Kai.", Dakota finally said, now seeing the opportunity to introduce his companion. "He is perhaps my oldest friend, we did a fair bit of growing up together. I can personally attest to his integrity and to the fact that he is sure to act with nothing but the respect of a guest honoring his hosts. Besides...", Dak paused, offering Kai a small smile. "To hear him tell it, I was always the trouble maker in our group. Kai holds the position of Beta in Koran and has journeyed here asking to speak with the Alphas. I, of course, was more then willing to show him the way." Intros done, Dak felt his body relax slightly, knowing the formalities were over. Sitting back against his haunches, Dak curled his tail around him and waited to see what would come of Kai's time spent in Deor.

As the last echoes of Dakota's song ebbed away, the ebon male turned to Kai, convincing words of reassurance spilling from his maw and soothing the Koran Beta's worry until it dulled down to an eager anticipation. His sense of duty had brought him here, and though he was a close friend of Deor's Beta, he knew all ties between he and Deor's Alphas would be strictly professional. A certain protocol was to be expected and certainly would be put into practice. Customs were not the same now as they were among friends, such had been evident upon crossing over the border, for something had changed in each of the males, a certain air of pride washing over one while profound respect coated the other. Buried beneath the surface, though not too deep, lingered still the bond of trust and brotherhood that would not normally be shared between an ambassador and their escort. "Alright," he spoke with a low chuckle, before offering Deor's Beta a customary wink. "I trust your judgment, now as always."
A prompt response to Dakota's call soared effortlessly across the territory; The voice was clear, a stunning alto in contrast to the Beta's rich tones. The voice of a Fae, it was strong, perhaps even the call of the Drappa. Dakota's next set of words affirmed this, while also managing to catch him completely offguard. "Your mate?", he questioned, completely dumbfounded and unable to conceal his surprise, though it was clear from the Beta's straightened posture and the quaint gleam in his eye that this was no prank. Afraid that his exasperated reaction might have initially been ill-received, he was quick to follow it up with a more appropriate response. "Well, I don't know how you managed to do it, but I'm happy for you none the less. Congratulations, I can see from your pup-struck expression that she must be truly wonderful; I look forward to meeting her all the more now." He gave Dakota a playful nudge in the shoulder to further prove that he was not cross with him for having concealed such knowledge. Not long after the call resounded, a form of streamlined silver parted through the trees with slow, confidant strides. As she approached, Kai offered a warm smile to Dakota as if to reflect his approval, a gesture which was then turned towards the pack's Drappa. Offering her a deep bow, he lowered his neck until his nose almost scraped the ground. Holding the position for a few moments, his rich vocals began their reply before he allowed himself to regain his posture. "My Lady, it is indeed a pleasure to finally be in your presence. Your loyal Beta has only had praises to sing in your name since our arrival." The two Deorians were quick to share a moment of mutual affection, caring not to hide their feelings from the guest, though the moment passed quickly and evoked no awkward sentiments. Their love for eachother was clear, and Kai was truly happy for his brother having found such contentment in another, though as was often the case, it was quick to remind him of the affection that he was without.
As if on cue, a third voice rang out in the sky, tearing through the air and nearly causing the forest to quake. The bellow was almost eerie; a preternatural call that started low, almost muted, and then grew to challenge the authority of the heavens. True power was reflected in that voice, and for a moment the foreign Beta became once again nervous. His reception thusfar had been friendly, a thought which he held tight to now as his heart began to race. If it was indeed possible, the Dragga seemed to arrive with even more speed than the Drappa had previously shown, though his overall approach was slow and very regal. The mann towered above the congregation, his stature being more bear-like than any wolf Kai had ever before seen. Had he not been in the presence of such a good friend and a calm acquaintance, panic would have no doubt overtaken him. The mann, though mammoth in size, had a gentle air about him that did not inspire terror. His emerald eyes were not unlike Dakota's, though they held the wisdom and authority of an Alpha within them. All formalities had been momentarily forgotten amidst the wonder, and it was an unorthodox show of respect from Chalos that surprised Kai and reminded him to do the same. Feeling foolish and a bit embarrassed, Kai was quick to correct himself with another sweeping bow before returning his amber gaze humbly to the face of the giant before him.
The Dragga's voice was a deep rumble, though soft and easy on the ears. His tones were rich and enticed the listener, touching upon the deepest reaches of the wolven soul. Kai wondered how Chalos had come to acquire such wisdom; and if he would ever be the bearer of such musings or have a tone so eloquent and far-reaching. Surely it was not merely something that developed with time, for such sagacity he had heard nowhere else. He offered only a silent nod to the profound advice, his bright eyes reflecting his understanding. The Alpha then moved to touch noses with him, a gesture he had not been expecting but embraced almost thankfully, and with certain relief. It spoke the volumes that no words could, and seemed to tell him of their alliance before he had even inquired of it. All doubts and dark feelings had been purged from his mind and he now felt completely at ease, embraced by the peaceful acceptance of the Alphas. Before he could speak in reply to the auburn Dragga, a white form in the corner of his eye caught his attention. Now standing beside Mist was her son, a yearling perhaps, with a coat of beige and amber eyes. His gaze was stern and unyielding, and seemed, for a moment, to be focused hard on Dakota. Such a stare was an unusual way of showing respect, he thought, and he couldn't help but feel there was some unspoken animosity present in the youth. Giving a small bow to the mann, he shrugged the feeling off and offered a warm smile at Dakota's introduction of himself. Having not had the opportunity before to offer his own name, he hoped that a singular introduction to the whole of the group would be acceptable. Dakota spoke with his usual flattery for those he cared about, his language elegant and offering perhaps too much credit to the humble Koran Beta. Having finished his piece, Dakota took a seat, leaving Kai to stand alone in the faces of his packmates. Giving them a somewhat nervous smile, he tried his best to hide shy tendencies and carry on.
"I thank you, Chalos and Mist, for your warm welcome. I must say, your kindness has far surpassed my wildest hopes. As Dakota mentioned, I hail from Koran, and am very honored to meet you both." He offered another bow to the both of them before continuing. "I am grateful for your generous invitation, it sounds very tempting indeed, though if you please, Sir," he said, speaking to Chalos, "I would rather settle the business of my journey here before continuing any further." He hoped this would not cause offense, though he could not very well accept the Alpha's invitation before stating his business. "Deor's benevolent presentation today seems to have answered the matter for me, though I still must voice that my intent on this day is to check on the alliance between the lands of Deor and Koran. It is both my hope, and the hope of my Drappa, Phantom, that our ties remain strong." He stood expectantly, his tail held low in respect for the foreign Alphas, though his formal tone was that of a proud Beta, and truly hoped that Deor's actions towards him had reflected their goodwill towards the whole of Koran.

As she reaches the two friends and greets her mate, Mist returns his affection and breathes in his scent gratefully. For one so in love, even hours away from her love is hard, and it has been days. She knows her place however, and would never be inconsiderate to a guest. Turning her bright golden eyes to the mann that is almost a mirror image to her Dakota, she smiles at him, dipping her head in response to his respectful bow. At his words of Dakota's praise she looks to her mate with another smile before turning back to his friend. "Dakota is overly generous with his praise when he approves of you. It is a pleasure to meet you too. Anyone loved by Dakota will always be welcome in my home."
Not long after her words does the Dragga join the trio, and Mist realizes how long it has been since she has set eyes on the other alpha of her pack. For the reputation of tight-knit family, it is surprising how rarely in the last months she has seen many of Deor's members, Chalos not least of all. "Chalos." She speaks, her voice low, but warm in greeting to a friend. Smiling in turn at the mammoth Dragga she dips her head low in respect to him, still acknowledging his leadership and seniority in the pack. When he is not present she is host and alpha, but usually when he comes she lets him be the head of Deor. As she thinks how long it has been she also realizes how little she knows this mann. Since she returned from her year of kerl-life after the disappearance of the last of her family, she has been in Deor under his leadership, but there have been few times she has actually had the chance to talk to him or get to know him. His entrance is pleasing to her, and she is gratified at his evident hospitality to their guest, Dakota's friend.
Staying close to Dakota she watches the meeting in interest, her gentle eyes moving back and forth between Dragga and Beta. Chalos's words of the past bring all attention to him, and the lovely Drappa almost feels as if she can hear the wind speaking to her - or the voices of the varg of long ago that spoke to the wind. A quiet sigh releases itself from her maw as she then wonders if perhaps it is the voices of those who have passed on to the Red Meadow... and if that were true, surely her family would be among them. Blinking as Chalos changes his stance she brings her mind back to the present meeting and listens to the Dragga tell of his title. One thing that strikes her like a blunt object is when Chalos mentions his relationship with Thunder - and through Thunder, his relationship to her mother, Aztec, and to her. How strange... that she has known Chalos now for over two years, and she didn't know that. True, she had never been close to Thunder - it had been hard for her to tolerate his presence - but she would have thought that this would be a fact that would be known before now. That is not, however, related to the task at hand, and is a matter that can wait. With the decision that she will ask Chalos of this later, she dips her head slightly in agreement to Chalos' words concerning their visitor.
Before Kai has the chance to answer, however, another varg joins the small group, and his presence fills the Drappa's heart with happiness even more than it had been already. Lowering her head to her son she nuzzles him affectionately, pleased that he came to her first. She does not, however, miss the look that passes between her son and her mate, and this apathy tears at her heart and reminds her of her own cubhood when her mother took on another mate after her father's disappearance. She never grew to love or even really respect her mother's mate, and now... fully understanding how hard it is to think that a parent is being "replaced", she vows that she will do everything in her power to let Ryu know that she is not trying to replace Chayton, and to have him at least respect Dakota as a packmember, if nothing else...
"Hello, Ryu darling." She whispers softly, matching his soft tone. "There's no need to be concerned. This mann has come in good faith and no doubt will tell us his intentions in a moment." Having seen the resemblance of the two manns she nods at his comment. It is as if the friends are indeed brothers as they almost were when they were cubs. "Indeed, you are right. I believe they have been friends for a long time..." This would certainly explain the similar stance and pack status between the vargs. Knowing her love as she does, Mist is not surprised that a friend of his would be just as proud and responsible as he. It is but a few short moments later when Dakota speaks up for his friend, revealing not only his name but his errand. It seems that Mist's surmise was true, and that the two ebon manns have indeed been friends since cubhood and that they grew up together. Turning gently sparkling eyes back to their survailance of Kai, Mist smiles softly at him once more, pleased to know one of Koran's vargs. Though the two packs are allies, she has rarely crossed paths with any of that proud pack's members.
Pleased that Kai's first introduction to Deor would be one not only of a bold stance, but also of kindness, Mist dips her head once more in response to the Beta's words. "You are very welcome here, Kai, Beta of Koran. I am very honored to meet you as well - not only because you hail from one of our allied packs, but also because of your friendship with my Dakota. I hope, as you do, that after this meeting the ties between our packs will be strengthened and that perhaps, we will not be strangers as much to each other." Her gracious words are followed by an understanding look and she thinks how fortunate it was that the two long-time friends met when they did. It was indeed a positive turn of events for Kai to be led to Deor by his old friend, and so highly recommended by Dakota's eloquent words. Indeed it is Mist's wish that she might even get to know Kai better as well as some of Koran's other members. Perhaps one of these days she will make the journey to the allied pack's territory and pay her respects to Phantom - a proud fae she has heard of, but one she has never met.

[Wowww I certainly didn't expect to make you guys wait this long for my post! Sorry! Short, but I didn't really know what to say.]
When the touch of his nose to the stranger he knew nothing about was accepted, Chalos gave a wise grin. This was the test for him to know whether Kai's presence could be tolerated in Deor. Before even knowing the ebon lupine's reasons for travel, he was happy to share his territory with him evermore.
The oversized Dragga bowed his head at the foreign visitor as his name was mentioned. "Kai." He tasted the name, rolling it easily off the tip of his tongue. "Your presence is welcome here - it is a rare treat to play host to a Koran visitor and it joys me to know that our own beta is so closely connected to one of Koran's." With a low chuckle, he added, "In fact, I don't believe any member of Koran has trod this land since a short time after I newly held this position. It was the Drappa Tarkah, coming to check our long-since-gone nurse, an old friend of hers who went by the name of Bent Time, BT. Bless her, she was a terrible mess before she passed. I heard tell that Fenris reincarnated her into my Lucivar. But fate, it seems, cannot be held back even by gods - her soul was meant to rest." Then, trying to shrug off memories of the young Drappa's death, "But enough of that. It seems that I ramble far too often anymore."
Chalos glanced to Ryu as he joined the gathering, a short nod accompanied by a small bow being given towards him. The last time the two had met, the Dragga was ferocious and bloodthirsty in an impressive attempt to push a rather rude little intruder from their land; Genocide was what he'd called himself, he remembered, a colourful, weak young varg who hardly looked to live up to his name - all bark, no bite, just another loner looking in vain to make a name for himself. "Good to see you're growing, pup." He observed lightly, winking in that casual yet good-natured way of his - even though the Mann was quite grown, he couldn't help but tease on his comparative age. "When we've finished speaking, Ryu, it would be appreciated by all if you would kindly show our new friend here to a den where he may reside for the rest of his stay with Deor." Looking to Mist, he added, "Your efforts at raising the lad are admirable. It's.. a shame that my own Linn didn't enjoy my company so much as Ryu enjoys yours." Dakota's jealous looks were noticed when the Dragga sent his gaze towards him, an emotion in his eye which plainly said that the peaceful behemoth, somehow, understood.
His attention had wandered again, but Chalos realised this and caught himself before he began changing subject again. Clearing his throat, the snow-rumped male shook his thick pelt as if to put his mind back on track. Always the gentleman, he waited until Mist had finished speaking before he added his two cents. "Kai," The bearlike leader turned now to the Koran Beta, " I am honoured that our old friends are concerned with keeping our alliance strong. The ties between Koran and Deor shall never break unless some incompetent fiend claims Koran power. Feel free to rest as long as you wish here and when you return home, remember that we will always enjoy your company should you wish to visit again. But first, a curious inquiry. You mentioned that your Drappa is Phantom. Tell me, what has become of Tarkah and Andre?"

//ooc: I’m going to keep this as short and sweet as possible.//
The effort was difficult, but the yearling did as best as he could in avoiding all contact with Deor’s black knight, keeping his golden gaze off the male whenever possible and outright ignoring Dakota’s own emerald glances. Ryu knew that those pools only brought with them distaste, from the encounter in which the two males had shared. Those memories still fresh within the mind of the defender, he could not shake off the lyrics in which he had heard spoken from Dakota, and pondered on the concept of revealing such facts to his mother right here and right now. But for whatever reason to which even Ryu himself knew not, the beige male chose to keep such facts hidden for the time being. Rather, he occupied his attention with this foreigner from a land in which Ryu knew nothing about. Ryu was not without his own experiences in dealings with foreign varg, having once met a fae from the realm of Ge-Rad by the name of Sorcha. Yet something was different about this black wolf that held the title of Beta of Koran. He carried with him an aura of strength and righteousness as all warriors did. But more so then that, Kai carried on his shoulders a sense of humility that intrigued the beige Deorian, and in a way he felt drawn to Kai.
As his mother had earlier explained, Kai made his intentions and introductions quite clear, to which even the Dragga of the land granted passage and welcome to Koran’s beta. This was the final note of certainty that Kai’s intentions were clear and true, and that all was well and would be well in terms of this good natured wolf. Ryu felt as though he too should introduce himself in a sort of band wagon courtesy, but before such an introduction could be made, his auds were met with Chalos’ lyrics. “And there’s still more growing to be done.” Ryu replied in how own good natured voice. “You’ll see my Dragga, one day I won’t simply be just a pup; that I promise you.” Finishing off his statement with a wink, Ryu listened carefully to Chalos’ next set of instructions. “As you wish, my Dragga.” Came the yearling’s response. He gave a nod and a bow to his Dragga and moved his golden gaze onto Kai, giving him the look over and a smile all in unison. “Whenever you are ready of course, Kai.” Tail swishing contently, he had at least for the moment, forgotten all about Dakota and the trouble he introduced into the young defenders life.
But as common with all young minds still growing and maturing, came the ever present flip flop effect of attention and soon Ryu’s mind was once again on the ever growing concerns that involved his mother, and the beta of Deor. There was no question now that despite any concern and apprehension that Ryu felt on the matter, Dakota had utterly ignored all these things and went on with his plan to successfully court the once widowed Drappa. Could it really be so easy for one to simply cast asunder the memories of an eternal partner, and treat it as nothing more than a lost soul in a thick pelt of fog? As the saying goes, out of sight out of mind. And in Ryu’s mind it didn’t take long for Chayton’s death to be the proverbial “out of sight out of mind” effect to take hold. Just like that it seemed, Mist had moved on and now both her remaining children would have to accept this new Varg into their life as a father, without even so much as a say in the matter. Such a realization angered Ryu, and he shook his pelt in an attempt to hide such frustrations as nothing more bundled up energy and anticipation for this new task in which Chalso had given him. Taking a seat, Ryu waited patiently, focusing his mind back on the here and now of the situation.

[Not my best, just wanted to keep the ball rolling.]
Dakota's keen eyes flicked softly from face to face as each introduced themselves. He was not surprised by the level of politeness and open-hearted warmth that had thus far been offered by Deor's members, but it was still a new experience. It was not common in kerl life to meet another who was so openly welcoming. There just wasn't the trust there...you couldn't afford it. One had to be careful with who they allowed to get close and who they allowed to stick around for too long. Here in the pack, though...it was so easy to fall in line with the others. So easy to believe that they were incapable of betrayal. And it was a good feeling, having that trust. The male relished in it for a moment, taking in the kind words as if they were for him, as they once had been. As they would be again someday. Because Dak now had a place to return to, to call home. He'd be returning to others. And he knew that he could count on Deor's members for the same warm reunion each and every time he returned from a prolonged absence.
The male flashed a smile, rolling his eyes playfully as Mist spoke from beside him. "It's deserved!", he insisted. "My praise is always warranted by those that get it." He paused for a moment, venturing a quick glance at Kai. "And he is loved.", Dak spoke a little quieter. Koran's Beta was like a dependable force in Dakota's life. Though they'd only recently rekindled the old friendship he could already feel it's effects taking place within him. The added sense of stability in knowing that he still had connections out there, in knowing that the friends of his childhood were not all gone. And the reassurance such an bond offered. Kai seemed to trust Dak in a way even he didn't quite understand, or feel deserving of...but treasured none the less and returned in favor. One of these days the dark wolf knew he would have to tell Kai of these feelings, of the importance he had in Dak's life. Of the influence. One of these days he would have to make sure his friend knew just how valuable he was.
As they stood together Dak felt himself leaning slightly toward Mist's smaller frame. He ached to be near her and to feel her warmth again but knew that this was neither the time nor the place. With her son so close, no doubt watching for any such movements. Despite and indifference he chose to show now, the older male knew their past interactions were still fresh in his mind. For they were still there, in the forefront of his own. He knew it would take awhile for those feelings to fade, for his own ill will toward the youth to lesson. It was not that he wished anything bad for the beige wolf, but simply that he did not feel that same...loyalty as he did for others. He didn't feel that desire to be close and to interact. It was as if Ryu were still a stranger to him, one not yet worth welcoming. Still, he did not wish to make the situation any worse and therefore stood where he was, moving no closer to the fae that was now rightfully his mate. Instead, Dak settled for turning toward her and grinning a broad smile. He wondered, if that alone could convey his happiness. If she would understand. She always seemed to, always knowing what was in his head. Mist could read him well enough by now, he knew she would see his feelings there in the quick outward expression.
These thoughts had no sooner left his head that the Beta heard Chalos speak once more. First orders, asking young Ryu to escort Kai off when their meeting was finished. His dark head swung sharply in the direction of the alpha, green eyes sweeping across his strong face. There was no doubt there, but simple questioning, wondering why the duty to attend to Kai had been stripped from him. It was not anger either. Instead it passed almost as a moment of desperation. As he came to grips with the idea that Kai would be leaving him again so soon. So soon after he'd gotten him back. In the end though, it seemed for the best and Dakota nodded his head slightly. He had his own dealings to make peace with and enough on his plate as it was. Perhaps Chalos saw this. Or perhaps he simply saw a chance to give Ryu a bit of power and responsibility. Either way, Dakota was in no place to question the decision. "Yes Kai..", he finally said in characteristically rich tones. "Please tell us of your lands. We are all curious to know. Then you truly must wish to rest. You're journey has been far longer then my own." Swishing his thick tail lazily behind him, Dak keep his eyes shifting around him, determined to focus on the dealings at hand and not on the news that he would soon have to share with the silver fae. For now was the time, at long last. He would have to leave her now, for a length unknown, for a future far from sure. It was time to find Dane.

The deep bond that Dakota had forged with these wolves was obvious; the ties of family ran deep in these lands, though they somehow managed to remain tight-knit without being overly protective and hostile to foreigners. He was sure their kindness had a lot to do with he and Dakota being so close, and though he knew they were capable, as every pack was, of aggression towards strangers who deserved it, he could not deny their gentle generosity. As Dakota had mentioned, there was a significant bond between he and the Drappa, the closeness of the two in comparison with the slightly less personal proximities of the rest of the congregation was proof enough of that. Kai cast his warm eyes onto the two and offered a kind smile, with a customary wink at Dakota. He was happy for his friend, and proud, too, for he knew of the ebon male's free spirit, and his secret worries that he would never find another family. Such anxiety was in the past now, and he was glad to see that his friend had finally moved on to the life he had always deserved.
In hushed tones, the Drappa and her son conversed privately. Thinking it rude to eavesdrop, he ignored their low tones, but did not pass the moment by to examine the youth. His features, while still young, were strong; the makings of a fine warrior were already within him, given the right training that this pack would no doubt provide. His amber eyes, a bit darker than his own, seemed to be searching for something. Answers, he guessed, for they were something always sought after. He had caught on to the subtle exchanges of disdain between the youth and his old friend and it made him uneasy. The feeling did not belong with the rest of the benevolence the pack offered, it only served to prove further that something ugly had transpired between the two, though judging by the apparent ignorance of the rest of the pack, it had been kept a strictly private issue. He wondered if he should voice his concern to Dakota later, or if he should simply let the matter rest without provoking it further. Still, he offered a kind smile towards the beige male, it was full of reassurance and the same kindness Kai had been shown by the pack.
His thoughts were broken by the strong yet disarming voice of the Dragga, Chalos. He spoke warmly through his parted maw, his words welcoming the Beta and then speaking of loss. His amber eyes dropped at the mention of the late Drappa and Chalos's mate. He thought to apologize for his loss, though thought better of it considering the consolations the autumn-hued male had no doubt received already. Knowing that no amount of apologies could raise the dead, he decided to keep quiet on the matter, offering his respect through silence. When the moment had passed, Kai found that the subject had shifted back onto him and his home. Feeling the need to speak now, he did so, in controlled tones. "With all due respect, I would suspect and hope that such a Varg never assumes power over Koran. Phantom is a competent leader and she's backed by level-headed consorts. That being said, I believe it is safe to say that our ties shall remain strong." Such words were bold to speak to a foreign Alpha, and he almost resented having to assume such a stern, business-like tone during what had thusfar been such a casual affair. Still, he needed to make clear Koran's faculty, and the fact that should corruption occur in the pack, it would be dealt with accordingly. He hoped his retort had not been out of line. "As for Tarkah and Andre," he began, his tone more solemn, "I never knew Andre, though I do know he passed away over a year ago, Fenris bless him. Tarkah saw fit to appoint Phantom and Kadin as the new leaders of Koran, and has since stepped down to become the beloved nurse of Koran's pups." He recalled the snowy white Drappa, and a small smile formed once more on his maw at the recollection of her kindness and acceptance.
The silence was broken once more, this time by his old friend. In good humor, he nudged Dakota in the shoulder for his comment. "And your praise is of course returned, Koty." his friend's puphood name rolled comfortably off his tongue, and somehow did not seem out of place, even among his new acquaintances. All of the old spark was present in his friend's emerald hues, the happiness was plain on his features as he seemed to revel in the surrounding affection of his family. Though he was weary from his journey to Deor and the stresses that came with introducing one's self to important allies, he found himself regretting that he had not had long to talk with his old friend; He wondered if Dakota might be thinking the same, or if he was too caught up in thoughts of his mate to notice. Shaking the thought from his mind, he let a warm smile return to his face, "I think I will retire now, it has been a long but pleasant day. I thank you again, Mist and Chalos, for your hospitality and kind words. Both Koran and myself are eternally grateful for your returned compassion." Turning once more to his friend, he spoke "And Dakota... dont think that you're rid of me so easily. We're not yet through catching up." He gave a playful wink to the mann, and a nod of his head to Mist before turning to Ryu and offering him a smile. With that he left the congregation behind to speak of him as they wished as he followed his beige escort to the dens of Deor.

((My most sincere apologies! Also, I don't know if this is just assumed to be over since it's taken so long, or not. But I didn't want it to have to end because of me. So I'll at least reply, even if it's not my best...))
As Chalos speaks, Mist looks at him with great empathy, knowing the hardship and sorrow that comes with losing a mate - especially when it is to violence. It is not evident to her whether or not he sees the glance, and it does not especially matter. The two have never been close, but the Dragga surely knows that she understands at least slightly what he has gone through, if not the entirety of it. Recalling BT, she tilts her head, wondering about the possibility of reincarnation. She has never thought about it much or known whether to believe it or not. And truly, now, it does not matter. Smiling graciously at Deor's other leader at his compliment she nods, and glances proudly at her son as he stands by her side. "It is not all simply what I have done. Ryu has chosen to be strong and true. I am blessed." Smiling at her son she leans down only very slightly to nuzzle him gently. "You are already much more, Ryu..."She nods once more at his following words, thinking of Chalos' daughter and wondering about her. After Lucivar's death, Mist had expected to see much of the little fae, knowing how hard it is to grow and mature without a mother to comfort and teach. It turns out that Linnaea was solitary even very young though, and Mist was not able to care for her as much as she would have liked...
Tilting her head in interest as Chalos mentions Tarkah, Mist thinks back on her own memories of the motherly fae. It has been a long time since the two saw each other, and they never did get to know each other well, but Mist would very much like to see Tarkah again. The older fae is now Mist's only link to her adoptive family from her cubhood. Pricking her ears she turns her warm golden gaze to rest on Kai, waiting to hear his answer. She does not have to wait long, and she smiles, knowing how fortunate Koran's pups are to have such a wonderful caregiver.
Smiling brilliantly at Dakota as he insists that his praise is always true and deserved, Mist shakes her head slightly, and echoes Kai's words. "Kai is right, Dak. It is returned completely." She smiles and turns to look at Kai, nodding, very happy for her mate that he has such a good friend that is a strong, beneficial force in his life even after so long. She also noticed Kai's use of Dak's cubhood name, and there is something in her smile to reflect her feelings of the sweetness of that. "Kai, because you are my Dak's dearest friend, I hope I will get to know you well too... if you would like." Catching Dak's grin, she smiles back at him, understanding his reasons for not so publicly showing affection, even though it is no secret. Her thoughts and feelings always include her children, and she knows how they must feel... and does not want to make it worse for them. She loved her mother greatly, but was also greatly hurt but the seemingly too easy moving on. It is only now that she even begins to understand - though Aztec's second mate was nothing like Dak. He did not have the goodness and strength and gentle understanding as Mist's love. It is all this that the Drappa wants and needs to tell Ryu.
Turning her thoughts back to the present, Mist dips her head respectfully to Kai and smiles gently. "Indeed, it is understandable. I hope you find peaceful rest here, and will think of it as your second home. You will always be welcome, Kai." She dips her head gracefully and moves slightly closer to Dak. "I am very pleased you came - and that we could show you hospitality. Be well, strong beta."

OCC: Sorry my posts are so short i'm still working on it.
The young she-cub runed around the territory excitedly as she explored it. She had not yet met anyone so she wandered around hoping to fing someone. She sun was high whicj meant the day was half over. She sighed and kicked up her speed. She wanted to see as much of it as she could today. The sun shone on her shiny pelt making it glow. Her sweet gentle face gleaming with excitement.
Normally anyone who saw her emmediatly loved her because of her sweet inoccent childish face, and her high soprano voice. She giggled often watching the grasshopers jump out of her way. A warm breeze picked up blowing the fur on her neck around. She slowed and looked up at the sky, not watching where she was going but she didn't fall. Her paws were held high as she walked, almost a march. She saw a large grasshopper in the grass and she snuck up on it- her rear up in the air. She crawled closer and closer towards it. She soft grass made it easy to crawl over. The smell of Summer and other wolves filled her nose as she held it close to the ground. Once she was closer enough her muscles tightened, and sprung at the grasshopper. She trapped it in hre paws like a cat would. She held her head clser so she could see it. The grasshopper got out jumping towards her face. She jumped back and watched it hop away. She fell into the grass laughing and pawed her paws intothe empty air.
She got bored of the gamee on stood again. It felt good to be off the ground for she was staring to get tired. She yawnsed and stretched, her joints popping. She bounded offf towards a scent trail. The scent of many wolves nearby traveled up hre nose. She came arcross a clearing ahead. Mant varg sat around in it conversing. She turned her head to the side hoping she could hear without having to go closer. Her ears strained but all she heard was muffled talking. She desided tog o up and meet them for it seemed as if the main part of the conversation was over. She trotted up the group, her sweet adored face gleaming happily. She got a little closer, looking up to the varg and smailed. She wagged her tail. "Hi" she said excitedly.
She looked over to the Fae, her face was warm and inviting. Definetly a storyteller, or mother, something that had to do with being with cubs. SHer smile grew wider as she took in her expression. A small sweet giggle escaped from smiling so hard. She would normally be embarrassed but she wanted some attention now that she had other wolves to be around. Her smile seemed to big to fit on her face. Her eyes moving from each varg's face. Another small giggle, bigger than before, made its way out

Shadow -
This meeting/thread ended quite some time ago. We never posted an official end message on it but if you take a look at the dates, no one has posted since the first of March.
Please be sure to check how old a thread is in the future. Often times old ones are lurking around mixed in with the new, so you have to be sure that you aren't bumping up a finished thread.
Thanks!
