New Skin ? Made by Kadin, as part of the Koran Updates. [Kadin @ 1. 26 . 07]
The sun sat in the center of the sky, the earth was starting to warm up only the nights were chilled now but the days were warm and perfect chances for any creature to be out and gather food or sunbathe. Though the warmth of this day had the young varg traveling about, having spent most of the winter curled in a den avoiding the cold and snow from his last winter experience it was best for him to stay hidden unless he was hungry or needed water. His brown and grey body moved with grace and elegance, deep chocolate brown eyes scanned the area as he moved along, searching for any quick movements or off guard critters he could catch quickly, the Koranian youth stopped for a moment to stretch his tensed muscles he looked back at the sky and sighed lightly "Stayed in too long again...well let's see what today brings me" the thought drifted through Takuto's mind as he wagged his tail slowly and continued to walk forward, nose filling with familiar scents his packmates, the moss growing on the trees, the damp earth which he kicked up lightly with his ebony claws having a small bounce in his step nose continued to twitch as he moved along wondering what his choice had caused him to miss out on, stopping he sat down and looked up, ears twitching lightly as the breeze blew gently once more.
((Please forgive the lameness of this so very rusty..will get better with time))
For a single moment in his life, Varloc was thankful for the chill of winter. The sun was high in the sky and he could feel the rays beating down upon his back, warming his fur to a point where it was growing uncomfortable. He found that his mood was dropping the more he walked, though it had no reason to. Perhaps, he wondered silently to himself, it was because he was finally putting his past behind him. And it meant, not necessarily forgetting about the life he had once led. About how he had been the leader of a wonderful pack and now had been reduced to nothing more than a pathetic kerl, left to rot and wither at the hands of nature. A soft growl rumbled deep in his chest. It was time to forget the horrible things of his past---keeping the memory of his beloved ones alive all the while moving on with what was left of his life.
Varloc, you old fool, He chided himself, You have a new home awaiting you with pack members to grow to love and care for. Why are you allowing your mood to be so foul? He silently cursed himself for allowing his mind to drift to darker thoughts and finally managed to set his thoughts on what awaited him. He was now a Koranian and it was a title he would carry with pride. He had yet to run into other pack members, though scents drifted everywhere, enticing his now and leaving him to wonder about who they were. His scarred legs carried him with little difficultly over the snow, large paws leaving behind deep impressions in the soft snow. He frowned at this. He preferred traveling on harder packed snow where there would be little sign of his passing; however, he could not control the weather, let alone his surroundings.
Varloc was silently cursing the snow when he stepped only yards away from another, though it took him a moment to realize this. He nearly started, though managed to mask his expression, his dark eyes narrowing only slightly to study the male more closely. His anger began to rise when he realized that he had nearly walked right by---never once realizing how close he was. Though as suddenly as it began, his anger subsided, becoming more of an unsettling feeling deep in his gut. Was he truly getting old? Was his losing his wit? He gave a soft shake of his head and allowed a smile to cross his graying muzzle as he stepped forwards with a bow.
”Greetings, friend. I am Varloc. A new member to your lovely pack. Forgive me for intruding. I had lost myself in thoughts and failed to notice that I was headed in your direction. He took a moment to allow his brown eyes to sweep over the male, taking in the interesting blend of his coat and dark eyes. For first impressions, Varloc found nothing to fear of the male before him. He seemed good natured enough.
He was about to stand and continue on his afternoon venture when a scent caught his attention and then a voice, he turned his head to the speaker and stood slowly hearing that this varg was another packmate, Takuto kept his body language friendly and welcoming, his voice reflecting his youth though he was a year of age, Takuto's voice hadn't caught up to his growth yet "Greetings to you Varloc it is a pleasure to meet you" he bent forward in a polite bow, straightening up again he flicked his bi-hued tail in a small wag "I'm Takuto the lead hunter for Koran, though my presence has been a little scarce for a bit I'm still around" his voice reflecting his care-free nature, with a wide wolf grin it gave off the young handsome face he was known for. This was a first for the young mann, Takuto had met only few of his packmates and really could only call one his friend, well that would change starting with making a polite meeting here with the new member Varloc, keeping his grin he spoke again "I've been here since I was very young, and can say Koran has been a wonderful family to me, I may still be young but I can say I've grown up with a great, loving feeling here" he sat keeping a casual manner, for the lead hunter the varg didn't really seem to have a very strong sense of pride to him but that was to be expected, Takuto was still growing up "I enjoy spending time in the area, even if it is alone...but company is always great, I never mind running into a fellow packmate" he turned his chocolate brown eyes to the sky for a moment, then looked back down "Sorry I must be chatting your ear off, it is very impolite of me" he bowed his head in an apologetic manner "Sometimes I talk and not realize that its become bothersome"
((Gah!!! so sorry it's bad >.> still working on getting back into this character))
The graying male settled his brown eyes on the young male before him, listening intently as the youngster spoke and explained who he was. It was pleasant to meet another pack member and it did his old heart good to see that it was composed of young wolves of such fine quality as the one he saw before him. To him, Takuto had no real special look about him, but he was a handsome creature and he enjoyed the friendly air that radiated from him. But special markings never made the wolf and Varloc had no room to judge. He was far from handsome himself, at least in his mind. He was just some washed up old warrior that needed a place to live out the rest of his years. Varloc had a tendency to be hard on himself and usually had a grim aspect on his own life, feeling he was nearer to death then he actually was. In truth, he was probably at the top of his game, though life had been crueler to him then most and so he had aged much more in mind and spirit then in body.
Now he eyed the male before him with a curious gaze, picturing only himself at that age. Carefree and ready for anything. At that age, Varloc had been sure he could take on the world and win. Now he was not so sure. “Lead hunter? He repeated, this time a hint of surprise in his voice, his tail swaying once behind him. It was hard to imagine such a youngster holding such an important role within a pack, but then again, he had held a high position in his own pack, before eventually moving to the top. Surely this youngster had proven himself worthy of the position and was no doubt a perfect match for it.
Finally, the old male nodded, as if satisfied by what he saw and offered the youngster a grin.. “I am impressed. You’re young, yet hold such an important position. But I have no room to speak. Youth means nothing. Sometimes it’s the youngest ones that know more than the elders. And you are by no means bothersome. You’ll come to know that I can probably out talk anyone once someone gets me started. “ He laughed softly, his brown eyes twinkling good naturedly. There had been times when his own pack had been gathered in the den and he would dazzle them with stories and at times had been chastised by his mother for talking too much and keeping the others awake at night.
With a shake of his head at the memory, he smiled back at Takuto, reclining comfortably. “So tell me, youngster. How did you come to gain such an important rank? Ah, yes. I know it. You must have slain some terrible beast, threatening the pack—or perhaps you took down the lead stag, when he had evaded all the other hunters. And you pulled him to the ground and had him finished by the time reinforcements could arrive.”
The breeze ruffed up his shedding coat, blowing bits of hair off underneath the rough loose hairs was his softer, shinier coat. Scratching an itch, he nodded a bit his left hip had three claw marks scarred into his body, showing his encounter with a large bear only a winter ago. It'd been a year since he'd run into that creature and protected his dearest friend from it, the scars meant nothing but her safety "Ah well, my past had some to do with the stamina I carry when hunting, not a pleasant story, but I was found and rescued from that life early, so I really don't dwell on it and really don't let it effect me unless it's physical" he pulled his maw pack into a friendly grin as he continued "I used to have adventures up in the mountains with Morrow Koran's young healer when we were just pups, one day last winter we ran into a bear, didn't know really what it was, it was my first encounter with a bear" His face fell making him look serious, an odd look for Takuto but one he was often seen with when doing his job for the pack "All I knew was instinct told me it was dangerous to us and I defended her from it..got a bit beaten but it's nothing I'm not willing to take" his tail twitched with the memory of that day, the memory of her and he sighed lightly "So...if that had anything to do with my title, then I guess I kinda earned it young...but this job is what my nature and body was made for" he grinned again, looking at Varloc "Not to sound cocky or anything..but it's what I believe and having a title and a place here..I guess I can have some bragging rights" he rolled his shoulders stretching the muscles out "If it wasn't for Koran...I doubt I'd be as carefree as I am now and I wouldn't of met the wonderful vargs that make this place my home" he looked around himself as he finished, nodding as if he were satisfied with his statement. "I'm glad I'm not bothersome to you, I'd hate to have someone in this place annoyed by my antics or the fact I can speak for hours"
Dark brown eyes followed the male’s gaze to the scars on his body, his skin prickling at the thought of the creature that had made those marks. He had had his fair share of encounters with the lumbering beasts and they were by no means a creature to be taken lightly. He could almost feel and smell their hot rancid breath upon his face, their thick musty scent burning his nostrils. Involuntarily, his lips twitched up in a silent snarl. Bears. He absolutely despised them. Horrible mammals that lumbered across the earth.
The story that the young male had offered showed the heart of his character. He deserved the title he carried. He gave a sort, approving nod and smiled. “You’re brave to have taken on such a beast. Not many wolves have walked away from such an event.” He took a moment to study the youngster more closely, dark eyes narrowed to take in every detail. He was basic in coloration, but he found that he liked the younger male. He was pleasant to talk to and his care-free attitude was refreshing. It helped ease the heavy thoughts that weighed on his mind.
”You have a gift. Your attitude and outlook have a way of lifting one’s spirit and a wolf such as yourself is essential to the success of a pack. Without one there to help ease tension, a pack would be a ball of nerves ready to explode.”
He sat there for a moment taking in the older warriors words, his tail twitching, he felt a small string of pride run through him at the kind words spoken by Varloc he let a grin spread across his maw "Then again I'm not like most other vargs, in a sense anyway, to blindly attack such a beast at the age I was...just to protect my friend was rather impulsive" he continued to grin thinking back to that day the creatures hot breath on his fur claws swiping ripping open his flank, yet the fact he felt no pain as he continued to fight off the creature...luckily he had escaped with his life, and only those marks, he could of been killed "I guess luck truly follows in my pawprints" tilting his head letting the scents of late winter-early spring fill his nose closing his eyes for a moment then opening them again "For if it hadn't I wouldn't of found Morrow, followed her to Koran and stayed here, to save our lives from that beast and to of met such an interesting and pleasant to speak to pack brother, Varloc" he twitched an ear slightly blushing as the older male continued to give him kind words, he knew of vargs who let their past attack their memories and had such a down outlook on life but what he said was true, if there wasn't that one energy that gave off the carefree feeling then the pack would more then likely snap at each other "Thank you for your kind words, I hope to continue fulfill that job as well, I hate to see family down and not enjoying what life we have..I just look at my past as something that happened, it'll never change, so instead of lingering on it...I just move on and change myself to enjoy what love and warmth I'm offered here and now"
Ooc: I’m so sorry, but I’m totally blanking right now and I feel like I’m totoally ripping you off with my pathetic posts and so I’m having him disappear, but I can definitely assure you that Varloc will see him again. You were fun to roleplay with! O: Varloc the Noble
Varloc gave a slight nod, watching the younger male interestedly as he spoke of his feelings on the encounter. It was something that Varloc, at least at the moment, would have skirted away from. To take on a bear was something that didn’t sound so pleasing; especially at the age he was now. But then again, he wasn’t sure about the feelings he would have if it was a loved one in danger. Perhaps it he would take on a bear if it was someone he loved in danger. He would surely throw his life in the life to save his loved one. He gave a slight flick of his tail, turning his gaze thoughtfully towards the sky, again nodding his head ever so slightly to the last of Takuto’s words.
“Those are very good words to live by. Its how I’ve gotten around by not allowing the past weigh to heavily on my mind. It doesn’t dictate my actions and that’s seem to work pretty well for me.” He paused, stretching slightly. “It has been a pleasure in meeting you as well. I always love getting to know others. Now I must depart, my friend. But I will surely see you again.” He gave a slight bow and rose completely, offering the young male a departing smile before turning and loping away into the underbrush.[/blockquote]
