The nights of recently were much more cooler then the previous month had been water had come back to the lands of Deor and replenished in the river beds, streams and the lake beneath the thundering falls, yes the days seemed to be better for most of the lands creatures. Except a small family in the Deorian lands, and not just any family it was the Drappa's family who were suffering internal wounds that the healer couldn't fix, only time could do that, her sapphire eyes looking to the stars above sadly there was nothing she wanted more to do then help sooth the pain her beloved Ryu was feeling but she hadn't seen the male in days, weeks and this worried the silver hued fae greatly. Laying her head on ivory paws she continued to stare at the skies above hoping for some sign that things were alright and that Ryu was safe somewhere among the lands and the only thing keeping him away was her. Yes that would be much better then the thought of him running off recklessly, not to mention blindly into a fight, sighing lightly she turns and crawls into her den, pushing past the herbs and small hole of water she kept constantly, it was a good sized den able to fit herself and two who needed healing though it had been empty for sometime now and that she was thankful for. Jonas continued to look out at the stars, hoping to hear his familiar howl, hoping to catch onto his scent, sadly these were only dreams she knew he was in no condition to return to her, she seeked the comfort of her mind, her memories and that tiny voice that had always followed her around since she was a tiny whelp looking for a place to belong. A smile creeped up on her maw as she was brought back to the first time she'd met Ryu just outside Deor's boarders by a large, hallow tree they played until the sunset and Jonas climbed into the hole to sleep for the night, by dawn the rust marked she-whelp was gone, months later Jonas returned growing into her adult coat and gained a new knowledge for the art of healing, Deor gave her a home, a duty and a friend in the warrior who swore on his life to protect her and his family. She figured that he was feeling so lost now, not being able to help Mist in a dire time of need but he shouldn't be worried...she ran off to defend a pack member which is what a Drappa does, Mist was proud you could see it in her and nothing could bring her down not even the jaws of another fighter. Though the death of her mate Chayton tore the family to shreds things were looking better thanks to the beta who'd been spending a lot of time with her, though nothing would replace those feelings for the father of her litter. Jonas had started studying healing of the mind, something only a kind soul was able to do, voice their words so that it allows the one suffering to feel better and eventually return to normal though only few had needed her to do this she was excited to know she was able to help in such a time. As these thoughts fluttered about her sleepy mind a scent drifting on the breeze caused her to become alert, soft tan ears came forward black tips pointed she pushed her way out of the den and trotting towards the smell of another. So familiar was this scent, that it made her heart race skipping a beat as it did so, she knew it had to be him, this time not her memory or mind playing games, it was him and she was to find him. Ivory legs built for speed carried her effortlessly over the rocks climbing the hill onto a stone ledge, she padded carefully over the stones and pushed her way through a small opening in the mountain face, the scent grew stronger and she wanted to cry out to him, but kept herself in check knowing he could still be in a fragile state. Her sapphire eyes watered as she followed the ledge down into the purple flowers, he was there lying in the field wounded from what she could see softly and carefully she spoke "Ryu...oh Ryu....!" she nuzzled his side gently letting him know she was there and had no intention of leaving.

//ooc: I am extremely sorry for how long it took me to get to this thread. Words alone cannot express my apologies. I hope this post is ok for you.//
The day was long, made longer and unbearable by the recent events that had unfolded before the golden eyes of a young defender. At least that’s what he called himself at the time, for now the beige Deorian knew not what he was or what he should call himself. A defender protects those they love and cherish, keeps all harm away and brings safety and comfort wherever their paws take them. Ryu accomplished none of these things, and this heavy truth weighed the male down. His tail hung limply behind him he traversed one of Deor’s many trails. Ryu’s mind however was on a different trek, one of self wonder and confusion, of doubt and despair. Over and over again he played the images in his mind’s eye; scenes of pain and loss, the sight of his battered mother and diseased father. They acted as a raging river, drowning all that came too close to its current, and Ryu was just another victim. Powerless to change anything, do anything, save anyone. Now the young male walked a lonely road down a stretch of Deor not often traveled. Perhaps this was the road for him now, the path of unrelenting loneliness and defeat. For how could he go back, a failure to the very promise he had made.
Each step taken weighed a hundred tons, and the weight kept stacking with every other step taken. The weight of guilt and defeat bore down on Ryu more than any boulder ever could, until at last he could walk no further. His wound was too deep and bled too radically. Yet if one were too look upon the beige male’s form they would see no injury. It was far too deep for one’s eyes to simply see. This wound bled from the very soul, where only one with unclouded eyes and a pure of heart could truly see. At last it was simply too much for Ryu to take another step, and the beige Deorian collapsed upon a meadow of purple flowers. At this point, he didn’t even know where he was. His body, mind and soul felt as though all the life and energy had been expunged from it. Like a fish hurled out of a river and left dry on land, he felt helpless and lifeless. “Mother… Father…” Ryu thought, eyes closed as he was lost in the sadness and sorrow of the mind. “My promise… I couldn’t keep it too you. I couldn’t keep you safe. I failed you, and father… you paid the ultimate price for my failure…”
“If only… if only I had been stronger…” Ryu thought. But as those thoughts reverberated within the young male’s mind, there was a voice that cried out. It sounded far away at first, as if the horizon itself called your name with an eerie chant. But steadily it grew louder. “Who’s… who’s calling my name?” Ryu wondered. It was a fae’s voice that much he knew, but it was muffled and unclear, perhaps held back by the fog of depression that acted as a cloud of poison within the mind. Soon that voice was accompanied by a blurred image in his mind, and it too gradually grew into focus. The image of a beautiful fae played before Ryu’s mind’s eye. But this was not just any fae, she was very special and precious to the beige male. They had shared many adventures together, and an ever growing friendship that blossomed as the cherry blossom trees of the summer season. “Jonas…” Ryu spoke allowed, and was soon followed with golden orbs that opened to the world once more. Their expression however was one of a fallen defender, a breaker of promises. Head still to the ground, his golden gaze moved to see Deor’s healer. “I failed Jonas… I broke my promise…”

The grey fae frowned, he was wounded but not in the normal sense of being able to visually see the cuts and open, bleeding sores. She whined lightly and gently placed her nose to his forehead, it had taken him a bit to realize she was there, to comfort him, but finally he spoke to her, speaking only but her name at first and it was enough to confirm that invisible wound she felt a strong sharp pain in her own heart knowing that the best thing for him was time but also, her aid. He continued to speak, she sat listening in an elegant movement Jonas was lying close to him again a soft whine escaped her tri-marked muzzle and she gently licked his cheek "Ryu...you're wounded so deeply inside.." her voice soft just above a whisper "Forgive me, I should of been more aware" she lowered her head and ears. Licking his side gently "You didn't fail anyone dearest Ryu...sometimes we cannot help what fate hands us...but you're not resposible...you were on a journey still" she tried to come up with something to help soothe the pain in him but she was failing. She was stumbling in her mind to find something worth saying to him to bandage the invisible but open wound he carried. Look who the real failure here was, another whine escaped her "Ryu, I know the pain is unbearable but if you trust me...well perhaps we can heal it...togeather" the words escaped her slowly and softly. Unsure if he would accept her help or not she still would be there for him, deciding that she would not leave him until he chased her off even then she'd sit and watch over him from afar, she felt a strong and strange pull toward the beige defender and it was this pull that would make her stay, she grew up as his friend, he brought her here to a place she could call home and also a varg she herself could call home, and she would do everything in her power to protect it, like he vowed to defend the pack against enemies and rivals. Her sapphire gaze looked over him, just in case he did have open wounds any varg would be able to see, but there seemed to be none except his broken heart and state of mind, pushing herself up she groomed his head gently, in hopes it would calm him...help his mind clear.
((Mines not great sorry><))

A moment of silence passed between the fallen defender and the healer of Deor. Jonas looked over the beige male with sapphire jewels of concern, though no physical wound could be seen; a wound deeper still was ever present. This bleeding gash could not be concealed from Jonas’ sapphire gaze, but the truth was that she wasn’t too sure how to help Ryu in his moment of weakness. How does one go about treating a cut which bled profusely from the soul? No herb or plant remedy could reach his wound, only words of comfort and security could hope to patch up the hole that had lodged deep within the young Deorian. Ryu could feel Jonas’ soft wet nose upon his forehead, her touch was warm like the light of Fenris’ eye. In one motion, Jonas would lay by Ryu’s side, and her kind words drifted off the healer’s open maw, a gentle stream that trickled its way into Ryu’s auds. They brought the very peace and security in which Ryu so desperately needed. But a question still plagued the young male’s mind, threatening to consume him if not spoken aloud, for he couldn’t understand why, and his growing need to know fueled his curiosity.
“But Jonas…” Ryu spoke upon the healer finishing her lyrics. The young Deorian’s own lexis felt foreign to him now, perhaps because he was so confused and vulnerable. “Aren’t you afraid? Everyone who is important to me is getting hurt, or worse. Aren’t you afraid, that something might happen to you to? What if I break my promise again, what if I’m not strong enough… to protect you?” At last, the true demon within Ryu had now revealed itself. The poison that surged through the young defender’s veins if not visible before was clearly displayed at the moment. That venom was fear, fear that those he cared about the most would be hurt again. This fear hung on every lyric spoken by the male, and dripped from every letter of every word like thick maple syrup off a fresh layer of pancakes. Then the reality struck Ryu, for as much as he cared about his dear friend, there would be nothing he could currently do to protect her if such threats reared their ugly head. “You must think me weak, don’t you Jonas.” Ryu whispered, more as a statement then a question as the healer of Deor groomed his head.
