She had been sleeping in the dens since she had been escorted back to the heart of the pack by her Dragga, Drappa and new friend Ayame. The chilled wind blew outside as Tor was at her peak and gazing across the land when the clouds allowed her. They drifted ominously black across her pale face, blinding her and casting the world into shadows for moments, many moments. These clouds brought the threat of snow, the little falling flakes not much to be threatening to the Listern Vargs whom were fit and healthy, but they were dangerous to the weak, including Silent.
Her silver form lay curled in a tight ball, reluctant of moving and losing the heat which had formed from the cosiness of the small den. It was no bigger than large form of her great Dragga Sudak, or her friend Ayame. But Silent felt as though it were just right, not having had the comfort of this pleasure in a while, the only time she had slept somewhere like this was in a badger's set during the harsh snow blizzards. But this she-wolf could not rest anymore, although she was weak, something plagued her mind, drew her into the waking world and would not allow herself back to the dreams she longed for. She could bear it no longer and slowly extracted herself from the warmth out into the slow falling flakes to wander across the lands and sit beneath the border of trees near a small pool of water.
It had not been long since her return, a couple of days at most, and all that time she had been in that cramped little hole gathering her strength to feel like her old usual self. Though her travels had aged her, she had become more wise, more agile and swift. She feared not the thought of her beloved packs alliance with the dreaded Balkar, she had accepted it with open arms. She was just glad to be back where she was appreciated and welcomed. The reaction of Gryffin had not but stunned her, it had made her loyalty for List stronger, and her friendship with the tri-hued Drappa more stable. But there were a couple whom weren't there to greet her back, she had not heard of her golden hued friend Renn, and had been told she had left not long after herself.
There was also one other, her beloved Drathlic. The young adult mann she remembered still lived strong in her mind, the vision of them sitting in the meadow with her friends Renn and Novex was like a fresh scent upon the ground. She could even scent him on the wind, everything seemed to remind her of his form. But Ayame had mentioned that she had not seen the Beta Mann in a while, which had worried the young silver one. It had chilled her more than the wind had that fatal day. But Silent could not accept that he had left, she knew he would return soon, she could sense it. But for now she sat there beside that pool of water, her lithe and emaciated body illuminated by the light of Tor so that her form seemed to glow in the shadows when the moon goddess could see her no more. She waited...
Times had changed, varg had changed, and with it all events had moved on swifter than ever. Within the territory of List things couldn’t be more different to what they were only a year or two ago – it was amazing to think there were varg still within the lands at all. Each member of the elusive pack had grown strong despite the predictably savage winter ahead, and each had their own purposes and troubles to worry about; whether that included members of their own family or issues that occurred outside their home. A family they still were, and together they would always be, but the vast expanse of terrain allowed them to wander, and wander far. One varg in particular, the beta male of the pack, found himself in a rather de-ja-vú situation where he would be gone for moons and return with his tail hung low and his mind plagued with guilt. This time however, things were a little different; as they always seemed to be of course. The moon hung overhead like an ever watching eye, an eye in fact that had not stopped haunting the young mann’s dreams since the day he fought the ominous First of the Balkar. Her calm, milky light seemed almost soothing in comparison to the frightening resemblance it held to the disturbing and unseeing eye of Carcharoth; unfortunately it was just one more thing to add to Drathlic’s list of terrors. With the chilling wind biting at his heels and the threat of oncoming snow storms, the beta made his way promptly towards the densite. There was a thick scent now marked into the terrain, a scent that never should have vanished in the first place, and he was hot on the trail to pursue this phantom odour. Was it seriously possible? Were the Gods simply doing this to toy with him and cause even more hell in his already messed up life? After moons of scrutinising his still powerful feelings for the lost Silent and toying with the idea of confessing his love to Shayla – the Ge-Rad princess – he had finally given up hope of ever finding his beloved silver queen returned safely to List and pushed himself out of the rut he had fallen into. Since his professed feelings for the second silver love in his life, Drathlic had many issues to sort out. First off was the main problem; Shayla was a member of Ge-Rad, not List. The only varg he had spoken to about his feelings for her was the pack sikla Aiyu, several moons back the pair had conversed and become what the ruddy mann had hoped was friends, and he’d left in trusting hope that she’d keep his secret to herself and the stars. It was going to take some serious preparation for him to break the news to Gryffin, and he needed to work out how he’d tell her. If the fact that he was now mates with a member from another pack wasn’t bad enough, the reason for his absence would be serious cause for a riot – but that wasn’t something he was willing to share with anyone just yet. For now, his mind was set on the present and the task at hand – was Silent honestly home? The aroma grew stronger on approach to the dens, and with it a mingling of other pack members; Gryffin, Sudak, Ayame and even Aiyu. The scent of Fiory was still evident everywhere, yet with each passing day it was fading with the weather. Drathlic couldn’t believe that they’d all congregated together, and he was incredibly thankful that they had stuck together after the passing of their beloved Nurse – it was a sad time and the best way to push past it was to support one another. Sadly, Drathlic had been too ashamed of himself to show muzzle, until now of course. Ahead the expanse of water came into view, the gentle ripples along the ponds surface illuminated by the Moon Goddess. He slowed himself to a halt as the emaciated form of his beloved ghost silhouetted against the water. Emotions flooded back to him and he was torn whether or not to believe his eyes. Stuck fast where he stood, a plume of breathe rose from his nostrils as a whine escaped his chest, loud enough for her to hear him.
(sorry it ended bad, but I have two of my friend's children bombarding me and I can't concentrate!)

Golden gaze floated across the waters surface, tending to relax and watch the shore where the small waves plucked at the small pebbles which created a small shoreline. Auds flicking forth and back as small sounds attracted her attention, she was so tense... and afraid. Her mind had been playing tricks on her, before it had been her mothers vision she had seen, taking her away from her pack, but it was that of the once ruddy mann whom had drawn her back, guiding her paws. This vision plagued her mind in dreams and now. She could see figures moving in shadows across the water, but it was just the winter breeze moving through the dark thickets. Tor shone down upon her, her eerie glow showing her confusion, her almost terror which plagued her unknowing mind. She was scared, but she did not know why.
Her silver form shuddered with the cold, her paws shuffling as she moved her joints to stop them freezing into one place, tail wrapping round her body to attempt to shield her paws from the chilling winter blasts. A small whine escaped her maw as she shook her head to rid her mind of the horrid thoughts that weaved themselves into her brain. Thoughts of death, mainly. She had not heard her friends and fellow pack members speak of her love in a while, the last she heard was that he had left and not come back. Just as the worst clutched at her heart, an audible whine, not one of her own, reached her flickering audits, causing her head to turn and catch sight of the varg behind her.
Heart leaped as recognition set in at first glance, them eyes belonged to no other, it had to be him. But then, it might not, it could be one of them visions, trying to draw her away again, to leave her beloved pack just as she had returned. Maw turned as she stared back down at her own paws, breath pluming, coming quick and short as she seemed to be so confused. Was this her love? Was this Drathlic?
Her form lifted as she turned slowly, as her energy had not been fully restored, to face the beta mann. Her golden eyes showing total confusion mixed with a terrified mind. "It can't be..." Her voice had come as a loud whisper, audible to the now adult mann, her eyes set upon him, studying his form. He had grown more handsome before and her love sparked up stronger than the time before she left. Her ears had set themselves into a forward position as she listened for any answer, anything, to set her mind at peace that it was actually Drathlic, and not one of those damned visions...
It wasn’t a dream, it wasn’t even his imagination playing tricks on him; Silent had returned to the lands of List. She was intact yes, but in good form; no, not at all. The silver faemme’s form had grown thin and weak; her once luscious silver pelt was thinner than it should be for this time of year and unkempt. Though it was dark and not all the details were clear Drathlic had analysed every little part of Silent before she had left, so the change was all too evident for him now not to notice how depleted she was. It startled the ruddy Beta and he whined pitifully, his ears flattening against his head and his tail lowered from its level position. Her frail words reached him eventually and they hit him hard like an aggressive bite to the neck; what had happened to her? Silent was now so frail that it looked like at any moment she may snap with just the tender caress of the wind. Slowly Drathlic inched forward, each step he took was tender whilst his paws trembled in fear that if he got too close his breathe would simply just blow her away and the Gods would leave their laughter behind. His previous thoughts of the past and his now beloved mate Shayla had left his mind blank and he was now left in the present, thoughts ticking over now on how to look after his lost love and make sure that she was ok.
As he grew closer to her, Drathlic couldn’t hold in yet another whine as Tor allowed her milky light to shine down on her like a spot-light, illuminating every little detail and flaw that had broken her. Slowing to a halt only a foot away from the silver fae, his icy hues looked like they were going melt as they washed over her scrawny form. Craning his neck out delicately towards her the ruddy mann touched his nose to hers in a tentative manner, his wet nasal making warm contact with her dry and unhealthy nose and causing him to flinch back in fear. Drathlic’s mind began to slow and his memories of the past event began to seep back into reality. Silent had left, she disappeared without word or trace no matter how far afield Drathlic had looked he couldn’t find her anywhere. With the passing time and the ever gnawing loneliness, he had finally accepted his loss and the possibility of finding love in another varg he had known since cubhood. Shayla had shared his feelings and the two howled out their love to the moon. It had been with this new silver princess of Ge-Rad that he had been with during his absence, and with it was more stress and heartbreak than Drathlic thought that he could ever handle. Yet now, now the Gods really were having a good old laugh. They’d brought back Silent to her true home, but if that didn’t make matters worse her bad health definitely did. Trying to mask the heart shattering pain that was now ready to cripple the Beta male, Drathlic masked his expression with a tender smile and hoped to Tor that she would believe it was genuine. “Yes my dear, it’s me. But I’m afraid now that I am dreaming and the Gods are just playing with me like a puppet on strings. Is it really you Silent?” his voice was merely just a whisper, breathe rising in plumes of wispy mist.
(I'm so out of practice!)

The vision was reality after all. The whine that once again escaped his more was quiet, but it was loud in her ears, the sweet sound of a real Drathlic. It clung to her mind as her golden orbs closed with relief. She bathed in Tors soft light for a moment before opening her hues once more to gaze upon him. He was so strong, he had filled out nicely into a fine handsome mann, a great catch to anyone whilst she had gone away. She followed his progress as his paws drew him carefully closer. Them tentative steps to slow for Silents heart, was he as scared as she was? Was this meeting wrong? should it even be happening?
Another whine was emitted from him as he stopped before her. They were so close, she could feel the warmth from his pelt already, since hers created no heat to keep her bones warm. As their noses touched, he pulled back in fear, this made Silent whine, he was scared of her. It was her appearance which made him so tentative and afraid. It was then that her heart had cracked at the edges, the thought of her beloved Drathlic being terrified of her. His whispers were caught within her auds as she processed them in her brain, her own words forming around others, confusion welling up in her chest as she did not know how to reply. "It is I, Silent..."
Her words were quieter than his, almost like a mute had spoken them. The wind picked up slightly, bringing more chills to haunt her small broken form as Tor illuminated the scene below. A small whine broke free from her slightly parted lips and she stepped forth and pressed her head against his shoulder, trying to feel what he felt, trying to see what he saw. But then she pulled back harshly and turned to look at the water and a small chuckle erupted from her form. "What has become of me... A beaten up and broken deserter of this great pack..." Her golden gaze looked at the ripples on the waters edge once more, audits following a gentle motion of back and forth. Silence once again took over as the air was still, and slight tension built up slowly. Sadness overcame Silent's heart, but she did not know why, was it because she wasn't exactly shocked at how this respected beta reacted. Her Drappa and Dragga did the same, the sight of this beaten up little silver she-wolf seemed to be so much different from the sleek and keen young-adult whom had trained with Gryffin to become an emissary of her own pack. Maybe things had changed dramatically that she could not understand in her frail disposition. She turned her head back to Drathlic to gaze at him softly.
{No worries, I havn't done this in ages, i'm just trying my best XD}
Her words were not even a whisper; to use that word would have been to describe her declaration like a proud speech given by a Drappa to her pack before battle. It was near inaudible yet the words were obvious enough, this was indeed his loving Silent. Back from the dead? It sure looked that way, and as much as he wished it never, it terrified him to the core. Silent herself was not the one he was afraid of, it was how he was to be with her, what he was capable of in her presence. Any other varg in the same condition he was in would have been fine, but Silent was so fragile and tender that anything the beta mann did or said was a risk at bowling her over. The sudden movement from the silver faemme caught Drathlic off guard and his body stiffened with fright, cyan eyes widening as he panicked. But before he could react further, she’s already pulled herself away and allowed her golden gaze to stare once more out towards the lake. Drathlic glanced at her momentarily before allowing his eyes to follow her own line of sight; his poor attempt at trying to act casual. A sudden chuckle shook Silent’s delicate frame dangerously, causing Drathlic’s eyes to once more flick back to her and make sure she wasn’t falling apart.
Her words were meant to sound humorous, yet an evident layer of sadness coated them and caused another tender whine to escape Drathlic’s ruddy muzzle. He knew she was flimsy right now, and he had been as careful as he could with her up until this point, but the pain that life had patently caused her was just too much for him to bear. Closing the distance between them carefully, the ruddy mann allowed his larger warmer body to press against hers and for their fur to mingle whilst his head laid itself gently aloft her own small skull, allowing her to nuzzle into his neck. It was an act of comfort and of love; despite his current position with Shayla his feelings for Silent would never disappear, and for as long as he lived he would never hurt Shayla in the same way her father had done to her own mother; it was a promise he would never break. Self control was something Drathlic rarely had to deal with, but in this situation he needed full grip on his emotions and actions. The silver faemme knew not of Drathlic’s affairs, and for this moment in time he would not mention it to her – too afraid that she wasn’t strong enough both physically and emotionally to deal with the truth. For a few moments he let the silence draw out, though he hoped now the tension was not as strong as it had been moments before. With a light breathe he sighed to himself, nuzzling into the top of Silent’s head lightly. “Don’t beat yourself up Silent; the Gods and the land have done enough of that for you already. We’ve all been absent from time to time; I mean I’m no angel,” he growled lightly, his own chuckle shaking his chest in a poor attempt to brighten the mood.
(sorry, wasn't sure how to end it)

The moments which passed added up to too many. Silent couldn't bear the silence that was held between the two whom had been so close, now seeming like strangers. But the words which had been exchanged had been meaningful, them short sentences penetrating the heart of the silver fae, making her warmer inside than she had felt in a long time. Her golden hues lay upon his strong form, almost wishing she could speak more to him, as though they could be like they used to. Great friends and almost lovers, she had not been able to declare her love for this beta mann before she had been drawn away, and she wished she had. It was just as she closed her hues once more that she felt his pelt brush against hers, then the firmness of his body support her own weak form and allow an act of comfort be held between the two. A small whine which almost sounded like a sob escaped hrom her silver maw as she savored the warmth and the feeling of compassion that he showed her at that moment. Hope fluttered inside her chest as her mind ticked over the happenings, maybe things were going to be as they were. She pressed against him slightly harder, just to try and gain as much from this moment as she could, in-case he drew, but she knew in her heart that something plagued his mind, but she would not stray to find what it was, she would just wait until he felt comfortable enough to tell her himself.
Words bubbled up inside her as she tried to think about what she was going to say at this point. As his own soft growling words drifted to her slightly muffled ears. They made sense. She shouldn't have thought herself as a traitor to her pack, it wasn't her fault that visions drew her away, them damned visions. His chuckle shook her, but it was a nice kind of shaking, it made her feel stronger than she actually was, her body seemed to thicked slightly and she pulled her head from underneath his to look into his cyan hues, "I know, it's just I left you for a long time, and I don't feel that was right..." Her words still quiet, but with more conviction to them, she waited for some moments before making her mind up, she shook her form gently and resumed her position against him, she felt so right here, it felt like she was truly home. Tor was covered by the shadows of clouds, casting them into almost complete darkness. But Silent knew where she was, she was home, with her family and her love. "Drathlic... I love you..."
{Eeep a bit of a crappy ending, but Si' Si finally said what she feels! Dun Dun Dun!}
Call me a sinner, call me a saint Tell me it's over I'll still love you the same Call me your favorite, call me the worst Tell me it's over I don't wan't you to hurt It's all that I can say. So, I'll be on my way
Tor’s milky globe was soon consumed by the swarming of clouds above, the land plummeting into darkness and hiding the two lost lovers from the eyes of onlookers. Silence followed his words and Drathlic’s breathing eased up as he calmed with the shrouding of shadows; she was home and safe back under his wing again. All seemed as though it should be, but of course they weren’t, life was never that simple and generous. If only this moment had come moons before their situations would be entirely different with a much happier prospect. Silent’s former words struck a chord with him, and as much as he agreed with her he held the words close to his heart, this was not the time to share his grieving with her – she’d gone through enough troubles and did not deserve more heartache than what he already had to put her through...when the time came of course. Attempting to be as nonchalance as was possible for him, the ruddy mann shrugged and smiled kindly. “These things simply can’t be helped sometimes Silent. I’m sure you had a very valid reason for leaving when you did; Tor knows I did it to you and I know how much it hurt you. But we must move on and just accept what life throws at us,” he growled lightly in condolence, hoping to ease her worry and sorrows.
Despite the chilling breeze of winter, the gloom of night brought with it some warming comfort to the couple sitting beneath the starless sky. The silence that fell didn’t even seem to be gripped by tension anymore and Drathlic allowed himself to relax, appreciating the feel of his lost love by his side, to feel her press against his larger form once more in support and love. It was at that moment, when his guard had fallen and he had let himself fall into a false sense of security that the words were spilt from the innocent maw of the silver fae. Cyan eyes widened, ruddy auds perked and an aching heart skipped a beat several times over. Once more his breathing returned to a more erratic state whilst his body stiffened and became statuesque. Yet this only lasted for a brief moment as his self control swiftly took over and controlled his emotions. All he wanted to do was break down and howl to the Gods; howl out his pain and despair, howl out his disgust for their wretched games, howl out his wish for freedom and for his puppet strings to be cut loose. But no, he kept himself under strict control and levelled out his breathing faster than he’d ever thought possible, though unfortunately there was no way to keep his heart rate under wraps and just allowed it to speed along with the time that passed them.
The silence was going to have to be broken, and the sound that was going to snap it was evidently the low whine which broke free of Drathlic’s chest. His auds flattened from their erect stance and he lowered his muzzle, nuzzling into the side of Silent’s small cheek. A sigh of misty air rose into the sky and evaporated into nothingness as his cyan eyes opened, falling onto the golden gaze of Silent. ”Oh Silent, I love you too,” he whispered back. Yet before she could respond he closed his eyes and shook his head sadly. ”But...I don’t want to hurt you. I...I can’t...” his words were cut off as a lump began to develop in his throat, closing off his voice and paining him to the extent that if tears were able to flow from a varg’s eyes they would. The ruddy Beta’s mind went blank; there were no coherent words he could think to form that would even begin to explain his woes and sorrow to his broken friend and love.

The silence became almost too much to bear, waiting for his words to sound inside her ears, the longing of his voice was almost a necessity at this time. Her heart pounded as his words flicked into her ears and once again was processed inside her brain, the comforting baritones of his voice reverberating through his form into her own, She pushed closer just to feel the sensation even more. Her golden eyes blinking away the fear as they stared into his thick fur, audits listening for any reply to her confession.
The silence once again scared her, what if he didn't answer her. Her whole body began to shake as the cold wind began to drive the worries into her skull. But feeling the relaxed muscles of Drathlic calmed her nerves as she rested her head more into his side, a relaxed sigh emitting from her maw. But when her confession had wrung out into the night air, the form that comforted her, relaxed her once more became stiff and rigid. The quickness of his breath made her retreat slightly and take in the state that he had taken. But his whine seemed to worry her more as his words fluttered about her like reluctant butterflies to land on the sweetest flower. His words seemed to fall upon numb ears as she watched him, but the soft touch on the cheek brought her senses back to her frail body.
The whispers that he had ushered were that of soft security, but the pause allowed her no space of time to speak her own words, he continued. The words which escaped him to were not ones that Silent's mind could handle. The 'But' seemed to replay itself inside her mind. I don't want to hurt you... The thought took upon itself to create other thoughts to plague her already fragile mind. Why would he hurt me?... How can he hurt me?... She took several steps back at his words, at her own thoughts, they frightened her, what had happened to this male that made him like this?
"I don't understand, Drathlic... Explain to me why would you hurt me... I just... don't understand?" Her words were riddled with confusion as her form began to shake once more. She knew this wouldn't be easy, she knew that fate wouldn't take him down another path, one which didn't have her lingering at the end. She suddenly felt weaker than she did before, her legs began to quiver as she leaned back upon her haunches, eyes searching him wildly for any answers. "Drathlic... Speak to me..."
And I wish that I could give you something in return For the precious time you wasted on the tears I've never earned For reaching out to help me 'cross the bridges I have burned
The warmth of her body suddenly left his side as she backed away, confusion and worry now plaguing her beautiful yet broken features. Drathlic’s heart ached so badly now he staggered forward, his legs feeling dreadfully weak for a moment before he managed to sturdy himself. What made the pain worse was knowing how much more this was hurting Silent; all hope and faith she had in them was swiftly fading before her very eyes. His mind began to spin in turmoil with what little options he had left; remain with his beloved Shayla and break Silent’s heart, give Silent hope and announce his love for her so that the pair could finish their courtship which would leave him in the situation where he’d be going back on his promise to Shayla – having two mates like her father did. Sadly that last one was not an option. The ruddy man had made his decision before, and now that life was throwing him no bones he was simply going to just have to deal with the agony, and so too would Silent unfortunately. Taking in a deep breath the Beta slowly let it out, trying to get his wits about him and simply just telling Silent the truth of the matter. She needed support, she needed friendship, not a mann who was falling apart at the seams and tripping over his words. Yes it was true she might not want anything to do with him after this, and that was one of the biggest fears he was trying to smother. Drathlic hoped to the Gods that if he was unable to love Silent as a mate he could forever love her as a friend, possibly his closest friend. Unfortunately nothing was ever written in stone, neither were the Gods always so generous.
Cyan eyes rose to meet her golden pools once more, weakness had always been evident in his heart and no matter if he was Beta or sikla it would remain – Silent knew this better than anyone and she was being extremely kind to him right now, something he didn’t deserve. Suppressing another whine that threatened to erupt from his chest, Drathlic controlled his vocals and tried his best to be strong. ”Please forgive me Silent, I never intended for this to happen. You were gone without a trace for moons and I had been driven into a state of despair!” he spoke on fragile words, no hint of his strength evident at all. A frown furrowed his brow as his gaze faltered, falling once more to the earth before her paws. ”But since I met her there had always been some underlying connection between us, it only truly sparked once you left and I was alone. She needed me and I needed her. It took me a lot of soul searching to finally get the courage to declare my love for her, if you need clarification then please speak to Aiyu as she was the only friend I uttered my feelings to,” he concluded, words laced with guilt and sorrow. He loved Shayla with all his heart, but that same heart also cared for Silent equally.
Taking a step towards the weak form of his silver love Drathlic offered his support in case she faltered, though made sure he stopped a short distance from her in preparation for a backlash – one he so rightfully deserved. Sitting back in his haunches and hanging his head sorrowfully, the ruddy mann allowed the whine to escape. ”Her name is Shayla, and she is the Ge-Rad Beta female and the Dragga’s daughter. Not only have I done wrong to you, but I have gone against my pack and become mates with a faemme from a different pack. I don’t ask of you to keep this quiet because I deserve whatever I get from Gryffin and Sudak for not letting them know...I just don’t want to lose the second closest varg in my life,” he growled in conclusion, all energy gone from him now as he sat by Silent’s side. With one last ounce of hope, he lifted his head and peered into her emotionally over-loaded stare and awaited her reaction with dread.
And in the end you'll finally see That, baby, I've done everything I possibly can
