Eyelids fluttered though within another second shut tightly closed once more. The darkness was comforting, quiet and warm. While hard earth below brought cold, damp discomfort. From the distance a drip, drip, drip was heard, followed by the same pattern. The sound echoing throughout the small confinments. On and on it continued until it was quieted by the sound of a soft groan. Those eyelids fluttered again until it gave up and opened to reveal bright cyan orbs. Within another second in shut again trying to block out the light that seeped in through the entrance. It was morning already.
The tan canine lifted herself up, eys blinking slowly as her nose flared, taking in the damp scent of earth. With a deep yawn the tanned she wolf looked around. The den was empty except for herself. The earth beside her lay cold and unoccupied.
Firefly gave herself a shake her tail jittering from side to side until it raised itself, perked and curled into a spiral, the tip of it touching her rump. It was a n obvious trait which tied her to the ancestry in her mother's side. That of a dog. Canis familiaris. By now though the tan hybrid had tried to put the past behind her and walk on with the new dawn.
She lifted herself onto her thin stilts, her foxlike muzzle leading the way toward the entrance as she slipped out. The rays of light blinded her momentrarily before her eyes adjusted to the heavenly glow. Paws proceeded as she stepped out onto the gerad soil, and out into the new dawn.

The morning was perhaps her favorite time of the day, as Fenris rose high in the sky, coloring the world around. The leaves of Ge-Rad had begun to change and fall to the floor below, as the wind became dryer and colder with each passing day. One didn’t have to be a scientist to know autumn had just begun, or was well on its way. Only the sound of chirping flocks of birds could be heard overhead, as their migration had also just begun. Kehré stared at the color stricken horizon, her blue green eyes following the tiny birds as they disappeared behind the tree line. She couldn’t help but wonder what kind of winter this one would be, since last winter had been like hell.
Rising to her silver paws, Kehré stretched her body for the first time this morning, her muscles flexed and extended with a great refreshing feeling. Yawning widely, the yearling soon wondered from her makeshift den of dirt she had dug herself under a bush several suns ago. The last few nights had been so cool, that she wanted to spend them outside, rather than in the heat of the den. Besides, the cooler the temperature became, the brighter the stars in the sky would shine.
But it wasn’t just the cooling temperature that made Kehré sleep away from the pack, it was the fact that soon she would be turning one. True, her body wasn’t fully grown yet, she was roughly the size of a young red wolf. Still, she had probably grown bigger than her bother, but she knew that wouldn’t last long. Even if females matured faster than males, males grew faster in one period of time. Soon, the two of them would have to make the decision, remain in the pack or leave like some others did. This was the main struggle in her mind, the main reason she had been really sleeping away from the others. Kehré loved to explore, but as much as she did, she couldn’t bare the idea of leaving her family. Ge-Rad was all she had known, and up until now, had always considered it her permanent home.
Shaking her ivory body, Kehré let out another wide yawn before padding through the woods, looking for perhaps a field mouse or even a squirrel to catch for a nice morning breakfast. She didn’t get very far however before she caught sight of a lean tan figure. Kehré stopped for a moment to take in the sight, she didn’t personally know all of the Ge-Rad members, but she could put names to faces quite well. And this particular varg’s form was defiantly unmistakable, for there was only one other varg who looked a little of the dogs species, and even his tail didn’t curl as much as hers did. “Hey Firefly!” the young cub jeered happily, her bushy white tail flowing happily as she trotted toward the dame.

The every changing of the Translyvania seasons kept all putnar on their toes, ever present behind any herla that might be preoccupied with stuffing their bellies in preperation for the coming winter. The coats of the vargs were beginning to thicken to help them stay warm when the cold bite of Winter came. After last winter all of Tor and Fenris's children were preparing themselves earlier than normal. Though in Ge-rad life had taken on a different meaning. The war that Ge-rad had been put through had caused everyone's loyalty to come in question, perhaps not out in the open, but indeed there were feelings of discontent. Uskiya was the exception, she held no bitter feelings for any of her pack mates, what was the point of that? Why go through all your life angry and suspicious when your puphood had been like that. What was the point in making your life that much more unpleasant? Uskiya barely saw any of her pups, only one of her blood pups still resided in Ge-rad, but she rarely saw the ebon fae she once called daughter. Her other daughter Krystal was often fufilling Emmisary duties that the gray fae's old mate had done. So with all these poor things happening in her life, she found it unecissary to add more by being unpleasant herself. This was the reason for her particular early rising today, she wanted to check on her packmates, seeing if anyone needed any help. [/color
This morning would prove to be a rather pleasant one, she would make it so. Stretching her limbs the grey pelted beta femme crept from her den, the early light of Fenris sparkliing off her pelt, golden orbs adjusting to the the brightness. Despite the colling temperatures of the season the she varg was comfortable in her coat. Her paws padding softly from the dirt and onto the more soft and lush grass. Perking her auds to try and catch andy voices from her packmates she peered through the tress, catching a glimpse of what looked to be another pack mate. Perking herself up she trotted past the dens, quietly making her way into the trees. Up ahead she recognized one scent to be Firefly, a good friend of Uskiya's. IT would be nice to catch up on what the she varg had been up to. The second scent Uskiya recognized as one of Yelae's and Shako's pups, Kehre. Uskiya had been present at the birthing, she held two duties within the pack, beta femme and nurse. Having aquired the first duty when Lydair had dissapeared and still wanting to keep her duties as Nurse.
As she appeared before both vargs she flicked her tail and dipped her head to both. "Good morning Firefly, Kehre. What brings you two up at such early hours." She spoke cheerfully, her own reasons for being up early allready being fufilled. She sat down on the ground, her rump landing gently on some newly fallen leaves . The brisk air was quite refreshing to the grey she varg, her pelt being a more thicker coat them some, Ayasha had luckily gotten a less thick coat, seeing as she was black pelted. Uskiya on the other hand was a mixture of grey colors, almost reaching black but staying lighter, she was also colored with a cream color underneath. Her golden orbs standing out against a simple coloration. Those orbs constantly expressing her mood, which at the moment was happy, glad to see some pack members who appeared happy. Ge-rad had been through a lot, the death of Cwen, leaving Uskiya to becom surrogate mother of Cwen's last pup Sorcha, and Draeg had been left to mourn. The pack then aquired their new Drappa Firefly, although she was sometimes not often seen, but so many members could be said the same thing for. But Uskiya held hope that perhaps Ge-rad could make a comeback, if they all realized that the most important thing was remaining a family, but even that seemed like it might be threatened.
At the moment conversing with her packmembers was the priority, and so Uskiya focused on that. "Tell me, how have both of you been? I know that with the coming of winter you Kehre are getting older? Is there perhaps a birthday coming up?" hoping the youth would indeed confess to a birthday of hers coming up. A birthday might even be the thing Ge-rad needed . "And Firefly, I must admit I haven't seen you for a little bit." She wagged her tassel, happy to see her friend once again, Yelae who was another close friend to Uskiya had been gone for a whil, along with Uskiya's heart sister Lydair. So many of Ge-rad were disspearing it seemed. But regaurdless of that fact, Ge-rad was a wonderful home for her, and would always be.
She became silent now, waiting for both vargs to speak, maybe tell her what they've been up to. Any conversation would be nice though, often one could find themself slipping from the pack, drifting off into the depth of solitude, and it was nice to come back and still see that there were familar faces. Though many faces had gone, left possibly for good, there would always be some left, and Uskiya would make sure that she would be one of those faces, a familar face that stayed, a constant there for those who might need a friend, help, anything. Uskiya was a giver, and she was used to giving, that was one reason she was a nurse. She was here to help, but she found that often she didn't do enough of that, and so she would do more of that, starting now. Ge-rad would live again with it's members more present, strirring the very breath of Translyvania. This tie that held Ge-rad together would only be strengthened.

Firefly winced giving her head a slight shake before padding further. Cyan orbs caught sight of a small puddle left over from last night's rain. Dipping her foxlike muzzle she began to lap up the chilly water. Its liquids refreshing. Fly licked her chops, enjoying the warmth that the sun was radiating. Her curly tail giving a wag before she turned and began to walk toward the main area of gerad. Possibly to where the rest of the pack members were now. But before she could travel far a high pitched yip could be heard, calling her name.
Firefly's ears perked up, giving a twitch as she looked over her shoulder to see the happy form of Kehre bouncing toward her. Fly smiled, her tail swishing from side to side as she walked toward her. Her slender legs pausing as she looked toward the growing pup. "Good morning Kehre" the hybrid spoke as she planted a gentle lick on the yearling's forehead. A greeting gesture. "Good to see someone with as much energy around here as you" chuckled the tan wolf as she gave a small yawn. "Maybe I'll borrow some for today" She joked with a warm smile. Firefly noticed that the growing pup had begun to sleep away from the main dens. She thought it could mean that Kehre wanted to leave Gerad. Fly remembered her son's. It panged her heart to have to let them go. She looked to Kehre and too felt a pang of sadness. Then again Firefly had often slept away from the main dens. Ever since the death of Cwen and the placement of Drappa on her shoulders she didn't believe that she would be able to live up tp Ge rad's eyes. It felt awkward and Fly just hoped that she would belong here. Her gentle nature enabled her to be this way. And silently she feared that she would disappoint Gerad.
Her head turned again and she saw the elegant form of Uskiya making her way toward them. Firefly nodded her head with a warm welcome. "The dawn is quite the lovely time of day. It's nice to wake up too. I just ran into... well Kehre ran into me" Fly chuckled with a wag. "I've been around, after the raid on Gerad my injuries have slowed me down a bit" explained the tanned hybrid as she gave a last stretch. "What brings you to this part of gerad?" inquired Fly out of curiosity.

The ivory and silver fae dipped dipper her head a little and closed her light blue green orbs as firefly stroked her wide pink tongue over the cub’s forehead. Kehré understood is was a gently greeting, but it still didn’t mean she exactly liked it. “Way to get your breath on me,” Kehré joked, opening one eye before the other and giving a gently grin. She shook her head lightly before laying her eyes once again on the tan fae, and for the first time did she notice how weary Firefly really looked. “What’s up with you? Late night?” Kehré asked the drappa, tilting her head question. Even though Kehré always knew Firefly to be rather easy going at times, today someone seemed to be different. Then again, the young fae had never really seen much of Firefly, not since the raid. Supposedly it changed a lot of vargs, her father included.
Gentle vocals distracted the young fae, as the appearance of Uskiya had appeared. Kehré wagged her bushy banner again, her auds perked forward at the nurse. “Early? Fenris has streaked the sky already! Why are you up so late?” Kehré retorted earnestly, lolling her tongue. It was true, Kehré had always been up at if not before the crack of dawn, anything else had to be considered “late” in her eyes. Even her own brother liked to sleep in, something that annoyed the cub greatly. At the sound of her birthday, the young fae couldn’t help but suppress a frown. Sure, a birthday at her age should be a happy thing, but as of now things would start to become complicated. Kehré had an important decision to make, one that was sure to change her life. The only thing she had to consider was each choice for the better, or the worse. “Yeah, I guess. In the next couple of moons,” Kehré grinned at the nurse. “Dad’s not so happy though, he says it makes him feel old,” the cub added with a light chuckle. Anything to lighten the mood, to hide her uncertainty. “I’ve been around. It's hard to sleep in the den, Dad and Draeg like to have snoring contests at night," she finished with a chuckle. Which, was half true, she knew many of the members to have horrible snoring habits. However, it never did bother Kehre, she always slept through just about anything.
Pleased with her comment, Kehré settled upon her bicolor haunches, listening to Firefly’s reply. “that’s right, and the early bird always catches the worm. So if the bird wakes early, so do I if I want to catch it for breakfast,” the cub chuckled. It seems that Kehré was half right, firefly’s demeanor had to do something with the invasion. Still, it happened so long ago, it must have been pretty bad for some to still be effected by such an event.

Uskiya listened to Firefly and Kehre, it seemed that both femmes were rather missing from the main part of Ge-rad. But mainly Ge-rad had seemed a little closed off. "Well, seeing as both Draeg and Shako have been rather busy lately, and since I am beta femme I figure that I should make the rounds and pick up a little slack." She smiled and took a small breath before continuing. "And as nurse I wanted to check to make sure that everyone's injuries had been treated. Either of you need anything?"
At Kehre's comment about her father Uskiya let out a chuckle. "Well, he should wait till you get to the age of Ayasha, then he can begin to feel old." Uskiya noticed that the lack of anticipation for her birthday, but she didn't want to press the issue and make the pup upset. Though she was aging and the term pup would soon be long gone. She sat on her haunches, she thought back to Ayasha, and how soon she would be an adult, two years in November. She let out a sigh, that would be quite the day she turned two. Turning back to the conversation she smiled.
"I suppose I should be getting up this more often, but sometimes it is nice to sleep in." The femme let out a yawn, her golden orbs squinting for a moment before looking back to her packmates. A silence fell upon the beta as she cleared her mind from her previous thoughts and dreams. They were rather strange dreams, they seemed to have haunted her dreams lately, a strange feeling. A change was in the wind, but then again winter was approaching, which was her time, she loved the snow, the cold weather. She hoped that this winter wouldn't be as harsh as the last one. Wolfbane really sunk his teeth into the land of translyvania last year, but hopefully he would be more lenient, but one could only hope.
///absolute horrid thing here, sorry ran out of muse///
