I've been thinking 'bout things
For a long while
I'm feeling so calm
I've got a big smile
For a long while
I'm feeling so calm
I've got a big smile
The morning dew fell upon the chilled earth, as Fenris began to make her peak above the colourful earth, scorching the sky with streaks of pinks and reds. Not only was it the dawn of a new day, but the chilly winds foretold the coming of fall. This was actually a nice and irritated change, for at least the weather was now cooling. However, as the northern hemisphere cooled the coats of the varg had begun to thicken, leaving most irritated and itchy. The same was true for one chubby Koran cub, who was obviously irked by the steady displeasure of his growing coat. Constantly scratching behind his ears even in the peak hours of the day, Monster didn’t understand why he was plagued by such a displeasure- it wasn’t like he was even getting a chill from the night’s drop in temperature. Even so, if anything it felt good- mostly because he had a thick layer of “extra cushioning” that acted like an insulator. He had a strong feeling that even in the bliss of winter his paw pads and nose would be wet with perspiration- something he was looking forward to leaving with the summer’s warmth.
Birds overhead that have risen with Fenris squawked and chirped loudly above the dense forest trees, making Monster moan in his half sleep. His small black auds twitched as his ebony lips wrinkled, showing how much of a morning varg he was. A thin blanket of dried leaves crackled as squirrels looked for food to burry for the winter, and rabbits began to forage for the drying foliage. One particular noisy woodpecker had begun to dig for his morning breakfast above the tree Monster just happened to be sprawled out underneath, making him tense his black and red paws against the earth. “Fine!” The cub snorted angrily, snapping open his silver oculars as several critters seemed to scurry away in surprise. “I’m up, happy?” Monster growled to no one in particular, heaving his large body upon his stubby four legs. Some would say this irritability was rather a bad thing, but for Monster- it was a sign of progress. Before, spending the nights in areas unfamiliar to him, Monty wouldn’t really ever sleep, but snooze only to wake up several times within the night, both fearful and paranoid. While this would make other irritable with exhaustion, it just made Monster more alert and shaken up. Getting enough sleep to make him cranky in the morning was a sign that he was finally getting used to his new home. He still held his polite composure, just in the morning he tended to grumble absentmindedly in the company of others.
Practically dragging his heavy paws, Monster was able to get his groggy itchy body moving, however odd it might look. In general, cubs were usually lean with metabolism and everlasting energy. Their ears were large, and muzzles showed signs of a healthy length. Monster, however, happened to be the complete opposite. He was much too large frame wise for his age, and had packed on several extra pounds to give him the image of a fat chow-looking thing, due to a thyroid dysfunction. His muzzle was thick and sort along with his face, and his auds were almost bear-like. Not to mention, the oddest of all- his pelt colouring. Almost completely ebony, Monster also had several points of a bright red along his chest, belly, inner ears, around the eyes, on the tail, and painted each digit. He also had a red paw print mark on his left hind quarter, something that had once marked him as “spawn of wolfbane”, back in his biological pack. Those days had passed, but still left a scar on the young cub’s heart.
Stubby legs shuffled to a stop as his head hung over a small puddle of water, left from an indention of the ground and a collection of dew from the leaves above. Monster gratefully lapped it up to quench his parched throat, all the while listening to his surroundings. The shuffle of leaves was not uncommon when he passed by other lera, but as he drank, it felt as though something seemed to be watching him. The prickling of his spine seemed to tell him this wasn’t just a squirrel or rabbit. Monty raised his head a little, his body stiffening as his oculars darted to the sides. Unsure what to respond to the presence, Monster remained silent, a worrisome look budding over his façade, as if some sort of preditor was about to snatch him from his new home.
I have a view of the sun
Right over the sea
And now I can feel
Life is flowing through me
Right over the sea
And now I can feel
Life is flowing through me
