- [Epithet] Xoryu
- [Sex] Mascu
- [Age] One Summer and Six Moons
- [Genus] Gray Wolf
Genetic:
- [Visual] Xoryu’s eyes are an amazing, bright blue. They are very pale and can - at times - seem almost pure white. However this is mostly due to intense sunlight or bright moonlight, though in the moon‘s case the blue would turn silver.
- [Pelt] Ryu’s fur is thick and well-kept. It’s a deep black that is sullied only by various flecks of light bluish-grays and dark grays making her fur out slightly in a crowd.
- [Structure] A gangly adolescent. Xoryu isn’t built for strength, but rather stamina and speed. When he gets older and has honed his skills he might prove to be a valuable fighter, but he won’t be as strong as the larger wolves.
- [Vocal] His voice is rich and deep, having gone through the change from pup to adolescent he has grown into his voice.
Individual:
- [Scars] A slender line across his flank.
- [Origin] Southern Ukraine He calls it Fa’Diel.
- [Persona] Xoryu is quite polite, and not one to start mouthing off to his elders. He’s a very reserved and quite wolf, not one to start conversations unless he really feels the need to. If he gets too nervous he will either shut out everyone entirely or begin to ramble, though he seems conscious when he does. He is jumpy at times, he seems to be worried about or hiding something. Xoryu is an intellectual type, he also has trouble with father figures.
- [History] Xoryu hails from a land, just north of the Carpathian mountains. It is a beautiful land that the humans call “Ukraine” however the wolves have always called this land Fa’Diel.
Jumi, that was Ryu’s pack’s name. Their pack had once been prosperous, but they soon fell to ruin as humans and their dogs began taking over their territory. The once strong pack was beginning to fall prey to hunting and famine.
When Ryu was born he would’ve had three siblings. However as his mother [Lian] was not healthy at the time and she had two stillborn cubs [they would’ve been Sintlu and Gnat]. This left Xoryu and his brother, Nuyhu, with Dahali [their father], Lian, and the only other pack member, Satchka [an old warrior].
Lian and Satchka assumed the position of Mother and Nurse throughout the years that the two brothers needed them. Of course Satchka couldn’t ignore her duty to hunting with Dahali either, and though she was becoming too old for her profession, she did it anyway. She was determined to help in anyway she could. For that, Xoryu envied her spirit. Satchka died when the brothers Xoryu and Nuyhu were only three months leaving all the work to Dahali and Lian.
Time flew by and Lian took to teaching Ryu and Nuyhu about their goddess. Lian called her the Mana Goddess, it seemed that she possessed no name. She spoke of how the Mana Goddess was a magnificent wolf with all the colors of the rainbow in her pelt. She told the cubs that she sacrificed her self for all the wolves’ sakes, that she became a giant Mana tree that is said to exist in Fa’Diel somewhere.
Nuyhu was always amazed by the Mana Goddess’ power, and he often told Xoryu his fantasies of becoming a God and becoming her mate, he told Ryu that he would turn her back into a wolf and that they would both rule over Fa’Diel and protect it like a treasure. That they would together drive out the humans and bring the Jumi pack back again. Xoryu always told him that those were silly fantasies, of course now he regrets ever calling Nuyhu silly at all.
One summer and six months had passed since their birth, and the brothers were playing in the tall, spring grass. Nuyhu was talking again about how he was going to be the Mana Goddess’ mate and this irritated Xoryu. “You are so childish, you know that could never happen, the Mana Goddess never existed!” he’d yelled. Nuyhu was speechless. Up to this point the brothers had been unfalteringly loyal to each other, and it was quite the shock for Nuyhu to have his brother suddenly turn on him. “Take that back! Mother says that she is real, so it must be true. Mother doesn’t make up stories!”
The brothers both snarled at each other for a good long time before the set into an actual fight. The brothers were very equally matched and by the time that Dahali had found them, they were both at a stand still, yelling at each other and trying to prove who was right and who was wrong. Dahali stepped between them and demanded to know what was going on. Xoryu spilled the whole story to his father, whom he admired most of all, but Dahali stared disapprovingly down at him.
Dahali sent Nuyhu back to the den, he limped back to him mother and she comforted him with more stories of the Mana Goddess and her great powers. Meanwhile, Dahali was teaching his son a lesson. “Jumi do not turn on their brothers like you did. I see not how you two could’ve become so wrapped up in whether Lian’s stories are true or not, but this is no way for a son of mine to act.” He spoke sternly to Xoryu, and Xoryu was deeply ashamed. He had not meant to make his father so angry. “I’m-” But Dahali cut him off. “Xoryu, I know that you can be better than that. Go home and apologize to your brother. The two of you will need each other in the coming days. Our pack is not what it once was, and Lian and I need you two to get along.” With those last words he sent his son back to the den and left to patrol the borders.
Xoryu got back, his mother had gone out, leaving Nuyhu alone. When Ryu entered the den he was greeted by his brother. “Sikla.” He growled. And this made Xoryu even moodier than before. “Look Nuyhu. I’m sorry okay, I didn’t mean anything by what I said.” He tried. But Nuyhu would have nothing of it. “Sikla, you are no brother to me. You are no Jumi.” Nuyhu spat. Xoryu attacked.
A splatter of blood across the ground and Nuyhu was lifeless. Xoryu was stunned at what he’d done. He stood perfectly still. He was ashamed, and he was terrified.
Xoryu was still standing there when Dahali reentered the den. He froze. “What happened?!” He shouted, snarling at Ryu. Xoryu jumped and scurried away from Nuyhu’s limp body. “I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to… I lost control.” He stammered, very afraid of what was going to happen. “Go.” Dahali said coldly. “You are no Jumi. You are no son of mine. You are not alive to us any longer. Go Xoryu.” It was the worst a father could do to a son. Send him away as if he were no longer related, as if he no longer was apart of the family. Xoryu felt as if his heart had been torn from his body. He ran passed his father and through the meadows and forests. He ran away from Fa’Diel. Never to return. Never to trust his father again.
