Name: Skyla
Nicknames: Sky or Little-Sky
Age: 2
Gender: Drappa
Birthday: December 7th
Appearance:
Skyla was born largely grey in colour, but as she grew her pelt began to lighten, leaving her with the coat she bares now. She is white over much of her body, save for a much darker bar across her shoulders, which runs down part of her spine also. She has a kind of grey 'mask' above her eyes and on the back of her head, and the tips of her ears are the same shade as the mark on her back. The tip of her tail is also this colour, but her eyes are an icy blue-grey.
Personality:
Because of her age, Skyla can be somewhat naive at times, and this can often leave her vulnerable. However she is not easily trusting, and can seem almost prickly on the outside before she allows you to see deeper. She has a fairly short temper, and can be incredible stubborn at times, at first finding it hard to accept when she is in the wrong.
Though young, her views are changing fast. When once she believed completely in the stories she was told as a cub, she is beginning to doubt that they are as true as others believe. She was once sure that everything had a destiny, and that her own had already been written. But after what happened to her pack, she has lost faith in that too, and now believes (or rather wants to believe) that she has more choice in her fate than that.
It is because of this that she finds it quite hard to see the good in life, when her entire life has been ruled by 'lies and blood'. She is however incredibly selfless, and incredibly loyal to those she calls friend.
History:
Born to a small family pack in the forests of the west, Skyla loved to hear the tales that her mother told her within the den with her brother and sister, and she would spend the nights dreaming of the world beyond, imagining how it would feel to run wild and free.
But not long after, the Balkar shattered the little cub's world. Their beta, and her uncle, died defending the little family. Their Sikla was next, as he was killed allowing the others to escape. When at last the rest had found safety, only her parents and siblings were left. This made it incredibly hard to find prey, and her father finally succumbed to the temptation of human food.
There is no doubt that he would have been discovered and killed sooner or later, were it not for the help of his mate's sister and her pack. They took the little family in, and gave them another chance at life.
Skyla was a part of her parents' first litter, but miraculously she and both of her siblings grew strong and healthy. They often went off on their own, feeling safe and secure in the forest that they called home. But fate ,it seemed, would deal them yet another blow. One night, the three youngsters were investigating the edges of the trees. Skyla was play-fighting with her sister, and had just let go when the she felt the earth fall away beneath her. She had fallen down into a man-laid trap that had been covered by leaves and dead branches.
Because of her size she had narrowly avoided the spikes that had been placed at the bottom, only puncturing her paw slightly. Foolishly, the three cubs began to howl for their parents - unaware that they were alerting the humans to their presence. Hearing this, their father raced to their side and attempted to aid his daughter. Luckily, the branches had fallen slightly at an angle, and so Skyla was able to clamber out that way. However her father was not so lucky. In aiding his daughter he had sealed his own end. The humans returned to their trap and, finding it empty, followed the tracks that the retreating wolves had left behind.
Skyla's father was killed when he turned back to give his children the chance to escape.
Since this time, Skyla has never again believed full-heartedly in the stories and promises of old. Believing she was the reason for her father's death, she left the pack before her brother or sister, and has been a Kerl ever since. She seeks no pack or forgiveness, and instead simply wishes to understand a little more about the world that she believes has cheated her.
