[glow=purple,2,300]The air that quivered through Ge-Rad was fairly buzzing with anger and the entire pack was furrowed with mourning, but for one young Varg, the sky wasn’t about to fall around her slim shoulders. Her blunt muzzle was alit with a vivacious grin as she trotted briskly farther and farther from her dam’s designated densite. A sly sparkle hued her bright eyes, a vivid cyan-courtesy of her mother, Lydair- as she thought about her mother and father’s reactions when they realized their only daughter had not only left without permission or notification, but simply the fact that she had left. For her two brothers, Kaemon and Koude, the pack was home. But for Caoimhe, the world was alive with wonders that she could explore at her every whim and want. The sun’s rays itched irritably at her back and she curled around to ruffle her fur with pricking ivories; at a little less than six weeks old the femme was finding her independence. Above her, the ever-watchful amber orb of Tarak gazed down at her small form. The femme’s legs had lengthened, and puppy muscles and sinews had grown tight and strong for such a tender age. Slender and lithe, the femme could slip about Ge-Rad unnoticed, it was her osprey companion that brought attention. The falcon now hissed at her, his eyes piercing, but she snorted and returned his glare, uncaring if the rest of the pack realized or not she had left. Giddily she pranced about, her paws kicking up leaves and tufts of the pearly powder that blanketed the packlands. The scents were marred and roiled, and the reek that clustered in the air made the small she-cub recoil with distaste. Tracks of a much larger Varg- several traces littered the area she had ventured to, a vast clearing studded with one or two trees- rapt her attention, but Caoimhe merely shrugged upon acknowledging the scent.
The flaming orb of Fenris was nearly unbearable to the youngster and with an angry snarl she bared her teeth at the bright sphere before lowering her head and darting forward to the shade of the closet tree. It’s branches were barren and bare but the drooping boughs were arched and curled and they caressed her fur gently. Nosing them, the femme yipped, her small tail wagging in delight as it arched over her back, and wrestled one twig from the branches. Plucking it from the selection Caoimhe gnawed viciously, her fangs grinding and leaving deep furrows in the tender twig. The then layers of bark were stripped away to reveal a glittering green. Fascinated, the she-cub known affectionately as Kalli simply stared at the limp specimen, her cerulean eyes glittering. As the hours passed, the young fae’s mind grew tired and she yawned with boredom, grumbling to herself before furrowing her brow and biting a lip. Reaching towards the conscious boundaries of her mind, the femme clawed at one until she felt the thoughts of Tarak. The bird, above her, looked down, and as she mentally begged for him to come to the chilled loam he readily agreed and a moment later was beside her. The cub grinned and pawed at his feathered breast; her protector pecked at her before sidling away. Dropping into a crouch, the femme started forward slowly, each step ensured to land where she pleased until she tackled the bird with a feral yell. Feathers exploded into the air and a moment later she was sitting on her rump, blinking as the snow cleared. Tarak was screeching indignantly above her, and Caoimhe stood, her tail pointed behind her as she uttered a series of angry barks, but she knew she was lucky to escape unscathed. Shrugging, the femme sat down again, but a feeling of loneliness spread over her. Tarak brooded above, and her godfather, Nocturnia, was not a Ge-Rad Varg- her parents and siblings had no idea where she was or could be, and, with a shock, she realized it could be hours until she was even discovered to be gone. Huffing, the femme tossed her head back, her howl melodic and gentle as it flowed through the air, predestined to not venture very far, but as she let the note drop she sat rather mournfully, her tail curling around her paws.[/glow]

Kop watched his niece from his vantage point amidst the trees, he had been watching the pup like a hawk for the past few minutes after having caught the her scent earlier during his patrol of the pack boundaries. In all the chaos following Serg’s attack on Ge-Rad and Krael’s unfortunate death much of the pack had grown angry and restless as the realization that the war had finally begun finally dawned upon them, most of the packs attention had become focused towards planning for the war though a select few still mourned for their recent loss. Injuries had been sustained during the battle as was natural however it had left the pack’s healer, Lydair, with a great deal to do as she was forced to tend to every injury received during the conflict, as a warrior Koan’s services were also required to patrol along the edge of Ge-Rad and make sure that no one managed to slip into Ge-Rad unnoticed again. Kop reasoned that this was the reason that Caiomhe, more commonly known as Kalli, had been able to sneak from her parents unnoticed.
As far as pups went Kop was particularly fond of his niece and had always been rather protective of her, it was for this reason that Kop had felt it necessary to keep a watch over the pup upon discovering her so far from her siblings. When he had arrived Caiomhe had been playing with Tarak, the strange bird was Kalli’s constant companion and Kop couldn’t remember a time when he had ever saw the two apart. Kop had never exactly taken to the Caiomhe’s self appointed guardian and the two were constantly at odds with one another, as such the grizzled varg had had to restrain himself from bursting out into a fit of uproarious laughter upon seeing Tarak shoot up into the canopy and screech indignantly after having been tackled by Caiomhe. Giving out a slight sigh as the pup’s tiny howl reached his ears Kop finally made his way over to his niece, padding up behind her before speaking. “What have we learned today Kalli?” he growled thoughtfully, lowering his head and nuzzling her affectionately before licking her head.
((Uh, this sucks. Sorry, writers block))

A small brown ear flicked as familar paw-steps padded lightly over the thin layers of the ivory powder, and a mischevious grin flashed over her dappled maw; for a moment the fae struggled with the exact owner of the rustling sounds but as she whirled around, her bright eyes narrowed, she realized she was gazing into the face of her grizzled uncle. "Kop!" The cub squealed, lunging from her standstill to dart before the elder male. Her thin tassel whipped the air as she pawed at his leg; lowering into a playful bow she hopped from side to side, growling. The male's voice rang in her ears and she frowned, reflecting with a shrug. "That tackling Tarak may not be the best thing I could have done," she began, his face serious, "And that even if I was hungry I shouldn't have thought about eating him." Above, the bird glowered at the two, hunching farther into the crevice his hollow shoulders pitted. Snorting, the she-cub pointedly turned her back to the peregrine falcon before grinning again as he nuzzled her. Rubbing her head against his foreleg affectionetly, Kalli sighed and gazed into her uncle's warm orbs, her own azure eyes frustrated. "You're not going to make me go back to the dens, are you?" The faemme backed a step away, her brow furrowing in frustration. "Mom's never able to play with me and daddy is too busy being a warrior. And grandma Cwen never talks to me anymore...and grandpa Draeg is..." The cub huffed, dragging her paw through the snow. "What happened that made everyone so sad? Even you..."
The cub sighed, frowning as she turned away from her uncle. "Koude and Kaemon wouldn't come with me," she growled suddenly, sliding around to face Kop. settling into a crouch, she crossed her front paws thoughtfully. "Do you know why Ge-Rad is so...huge? I thought I met everyone, but then I saw a femme named Shayla and a femme named Yelae and a large mann that was with Ayasha's family, and another mann that was with Mommy for a while before he was with the white femme." her words were jumbled and her mind was fuzzy with confusion, but as she spoke of 'Ayasha's family' she seemed to brighten. The ebony she-cub, older than Kalli in the least by a full moon, was different, and in being so drew Caoimhe's attention. The she-cub had isolated herself from her blind and deaf sister Chilaili but it was quite obvious she loved her brother Skep, but the tan male was constantly with his eldest sister. Kalli herself has taken a distinct dislike for the hindered silver cub- though she was openly tolerated, Chilaili had stirred jealous feelings in the mottled she-cub when the femme had recieved the same affectionate greeting from her Uncle Kop that she herself did. Sighing, the fae threw herself from the miasma that frayed the corners of her young mind, and smiled at her uncle.

His eyes still focused on his niece Kop couldn’t help but chuckle as he watched Caiomhe rush over to greet him, a warm smile forming on his muzzle as she began pawing at his leg in an attempt to rouse him into a game. Lowering himself down into a playful bow he batted a paw at the young pup, his tail swaying above him as he gave out a slight bark and growled. He gave out a howl of laughter as Kalli responded to his previous question, her expression completely serious. Still chuckling he cast Tarak a triumphant glance before turning his attention back to his niece, a smug smile still etched on his muzzle. “Well that too but I was really talking about the fact that you shouldn’t have wandered off by yourself, you know how I feel about you being alone with that bird around.” Casting another quick glance towards the indignant raptor Kop snorted scornfully, thoughts of Tarak swooping down and flying off with Caiomhe clasped firmly in his talons invading his mind again. However he quickly forgot this as the pup began rubbing her head against his leg affectionately before gazing up at him, frustration evident in her crystal blue eyes as she spoke. “No, not yet at least. Right now I’m just here to make sure nothing happens to you.” Seating himself back on his haunches he allowed Kalli to continue, letting his ears droop slightly and sighing as she grew upset. How was he supposed to explain this to pup? “Kalli listen, a few nights ago some bad varg snuck into Ge-Rad and started a fight. Your grandmother had just given birth to a little dragga, my little brother and your new uncle, but left him alone to help Grandpa Draeg drive out the bad varg. While they were gone a lynx found the den and stole the cub, when your grandparents found out it hurt them both very badly and they both haven’t had enough time to get over it yet which is why they are still very sad.” Bending down the grizzled youth rubbed his head affectionately against the pup’s head before pulling back and lowering himself into a playful crouch. “Look I can’t do anything about your grandparents but I’ll tell you what, as soon as I see you mother I’ll tell her to start spending more time with you and your brothers so that she can play with you more often, your dad too. How does that sound?”

"That wont be nessicary." Koans voice growled. The young father was still young enough to remember that feeling of needing to wander, so he hads watched the young fae do so from a distance. He was close enough to help her, should she need it, and far enough away that she would never have known. He had heard everything.. He felt a pang roil up in his belly, a sadness he hadn't known in a long while. He stared at the young wolf that was his daughter, and sighed. "Thank you Kop... I'm glad you've been around for them. It's more then I ever did for you. Which reminds me, you want to go fishing sometime? You said you wanted to spend more time together."
Then he looked at his daughter, chuckling. "Kalli... everyone isn't sad. Grandpa and Grandma just.. their upset. As upset as I would be if something happened to you." the gray wolf stared at the falcon, glaring at him. He was more tolerent then most of the creature, but.. even he was leery. "So do me a favor, Kalli. Next time you want to go wandering, at least tell Uncle Kop that your going. So.. well, then I dont have to be like Grandpa Draeg." Koan's heart ached for his father, an ache he knew to well. But some part of him gloated. Now he knew what it felt like to lose that which was precious. Koans dark half thought so, and he felt even worse for it. (just ignore that, draeg. I'll post more later)

A voice sounded out from amidst the shelter of the trees and Kop whirled around to face the intruder, his hackles raised and his fangs bared as he placed himself strategically over Kalli's tiny form in an attempt to shield her from any attacks that might be sent their way. However he relaxed upon realizing that it was only Koan, Caiomhe's father as well Kop's elder brother and warrior of Ge-Rad. Letting his hackles fall flat against his neck and lowering his tail submissively the grizzled youth dipped his head in a respectful bow, stepping away from his niece to allow her father the chance to speak with her while he kept a close watch on Tarak who had yet to move from his perch atop the treetops. His ears perking upon hearing his name Kop tore his attention away from the majestic flying putnar and turned to face his brother, his features brightening considerably upon hearing Koan's invitation. Yeah!?he barked eagerly, his tail wagging furiously behind him. The thought of spending some time with elder brother was enough to make Kop forget all about watching Tarak though he suddenly felt as though he were forgetting something important, an appointment of some kind. A panicked look came across his features as the realization suddenly sank in, he was supposed to meet Renn today. Letting out a wild yip he scrambled to his feet and nearly bolted right into the trunk of a tree, taking a moment to collect himself young apprentice made a quick gesture with his tail and dipped his head respectfully to his brother before padding over to Caiomhe. I have to go now Kalli okay? You be good for your father until I get back, I promise I'll play with you as soon as I return.?He growled fondly, giving her cheek an affectionate lick before darting off into the wilderness and disappearing into the tree line.
