The days grew longer now, dragging a bitter edge through the winds, slicing, razor sharp through even the wolves thick furs. While most packs were settleing down a bit for the winter, some still had activity. But that activity was little and far between.
Even Ge-rad was slowing to a sluggish crawl as the cold sank deep into the bones of the land. The wolves huddled now, close together, or hiding themselves inside the dens and sheltered parts of the land.
Not this youngling. His burgendy paw stepped over the invisible boundry line, and he paused. He felt strange, stepping into another packs territory. He mental shook himself. Draeg had offered him a home here, a family, a pack...he wasn't sure of any of it... but Draeg was right. It was better then dieing alone.
His torn ear pricking up as much as it could, he listened for any sound of approach.. he heard none, and stepped foward into the packlands. He gave a brief howl, his own tiny voice echoing about these lands.

Small flashes of blurred white could be seen amisdt the bare trees as the Healer darted, weaving her way through the forest of Ge-Rad; her cyan eyes were sharp and cunning, glittering with intelligence as she lowered her head and thrust her muzzle forward; the wind moaned in her ears and it whipped her to the bone, chilling even her burly pelt as she performed the one job that she was not used to doing- scouting. Her job was Healer, but ge-rad terra was vast, and since Koan, her mate, had asked to move moved to warrior status, her pack had fallen short with a mere two scouts- and so, the social cobalt hybrid exploited her open lapses to search ge-rad for possible prey and intruders. A sudden pummel within her womb brought the femme to a screeching halt as she jerked sideways, still caught off-guard by the kicks of the cubs that now grew within her. The urgent slaps had begun only recently, and the femme was still amazed by the fact that soon she, too, would birth her own cubs. A sense of uneasiness grew tight in ehr chest as she thought for a moment that Sarnes and Balkar might slip over the borders in each passing moment only spurred the young she-varg's fervent attempts to rapt some of the forest during this sun; the quick thought of Shunke soured her face and brought a low growl to pass her lips; the Sarnes femme had not only an intruder, she had obviously been corrupted, and that alone brought Lydair into a frenzy- too many cubs ran haphazard through her packlands to have such Vargs within, when the knowingly followed a cub-killer for a Dragga.
A young howl whispered sweetly in her ears and she veered to the right, coming to a rest atop the crest of a low-sloped hill; a varg, obviously of a young age, had sought Larka's Blessing and the cobalt hybrid began picking her way down the slope, voicing a sharp yip in response. Wary and cautious she appraoched the Varg; from a distance he seemed to look older than he was and a ruddy black rather than the burgandy that he truly was. Blue-black hackles that had risen flattened and a thick tail wagged as Lydair gave a happy bark; this he-cub was well-known to her, and to others of Ge-Rad, for he had helped with the saving of Amaya, and it seemed to Lydair that he could become a Healer himself if involved in the correct training. "Good day to you, Nexus!" the femme called, voice gentle and friendly, "What brings you to Ge-Rad on such a chilly winter morn?"

Nexus gave soft growl of surprise as Lydair appeared. One of the few wolves that he knew in this pack, the Healer. He had a healthy respect for her; as she had saved his own life after the mangleing of his ear. He gave a small smile, his auttnum hued optics tilting downwards from her. "Ah. At least you won't try to chase me off." he growled softly. "I'm here... well... because your Dragga said that I should come here." Nexus dipped his head again, then looked at her shyly. "I'm trying to turn things around... trying to not be quite as scared as I've always been. It's strange, thinking that I won't get hurt for speaking my mind. "
Nexus rose to his feet, padding towards her, he put his nose foward, sniffing lightly. "I suppose I'll be here for a while... it would do well for me to remember your scent." He grinned again, and paused. "Something wrong?"

The proud Drappa had been stalking the lands frequently as of late after discovering one of her pack members had been captured by the savage Balkar pack and tortured mercilessly – more fearful than ever that her family, cubs and pack were in grave danger all because of her own stupidity with the First of the lethal all male pack. Wincing as her rigid back panged once more with a shooting pain, Cwen growled deeply and picked up her pace, trying to let the swift, cold breeze that ruffled her thickening winter pelt distract her from the pain. But the feeling of joy was eminent in her – as she was once again baring life within her. Draeg had asked her of late to bare him another litter, and after her accident and taking some numbing herbs, the couple had mated throughout the night with great success. However – though Cwen had felt it strongly within her, she had yet to tell Draeg of the good news. If she told him too soon, she knew that something would go wrong – it was just Wolfbane’s law.
Though her trail of thought was soon cut short as the high pitched howl of a youth caught her attentive auds and she quickly changed her direction with a swift bound, making sure to land lightly on her paws to prevent the shock sending more outbursts of pain to her spine. On entering a small dell that was on the borderlines of Ge-Rad, Cwen came to an abrupt halt as the sight of a young, ruddy male and Lydair came into sight. Flicking an aud questioningly as to why Lydair was greeting the youth so lightly without driving him out or asking what he wanted with Ge-Rad’s business.
Sending out a deep growl – Cwen was oblivious that Draeg had met this youth before, or Lydair for that matter, and that he as Dragga had given the cub authority to join the pack’s ranks – she glanced from youth to Healer, her rigid tail flicking and growing erect as her dominant stance and position took over. “Who’s this little whelp then?” she oozed sarcastically, the pain doing her temper no good as another sharp spasm jolted her spine.

Ah, how the times had changed. The cold of winter bite deeply into Koan's scars, causeing them to twinge. The cold sought them, like a blade sought chinks in the armor of a sturdy knight. He was padding through these lands, his amber eyes thoughtful. He'd become more introspective, as if late. But the once bitter wolf that had been him... they seemed like three different wolves. The submissive male of his youth, the bitter wolf that was still with him now, and this wolf. This one simply saw life as a changing of seasons. Death, life, birth, love, hate, anger. All were natural, but should one remain in any state for too long, it would be unhealthy... and unnatural.
After his recent agreement with Lydair, he had returned after a brief sojourn away from the packlands. He was still a little put off by the pack at large, amused and disgusted by their complacent nature. Kerl were never so soft. They had gotten foolish lately... and Koan could only hope that it would not come back to hurt them in the end.
He too heard the howl, and with little else to do, he headed towards it. He heard Lydairs friendlier tone, and grinned. His mate was here, and he had been lucky enough to be nearby. As he prepared to step foward and greet the pair, a new voice reached him. His heart caught, and he felt his heart harden. The darkness that seemed ritual seeped back into his soul. Cwen... he had met her once before, at Huts' death. This was the cause of his loss, his ache. She was at fault for many of the things... Koan tried for a moment to push off this hate; after all, he had come to accept that it was merely fate... but knowing that she was not the only one to blame when one was alone was very different then staring her in the face. He took two steps foward, stepping from the trees and shrubs that surrounded them. "Greetings, all of you." he said softly. "You, pup, I don't know. Lydair...and that makes you Cwen, correct?" The smirk was back on his muzzle, that smile caught betwixt hate and sorrow. "Perhaps he has buisness with one of us, perhaps?" He shot the young wolf a glance, followed by a smile."

The cobalt femme grinned to the burgundy he-cub and dipped her head to his words; she had been surprised at Nexus’ abrupt leaving of Ge-Rad; there was no doubt he would have been offered the safety and love of a true pack from her Dragga and Drappa; now, it seemed, Draeg had prolonged his offer and Nexus seemed, although a bit unsure, enthralled with the idea. “I’m glad you decided to return; I felt terrible when you left- afraid one of the Ge-Rad Vargs had said something to the young male. She held still as he padded forward to examine her scent; offering a warm smile Lydair again parted her short snout. “Do you desire a certain position? As long as it isn’t Lead Warrior or Emissary, I’m sure you’ll be able to get it. I’m only the healer, it’s true, but I wouldn’t know why Draeg wouldn’t grant you what you wished, so long as you are fit for it. ” Lean haunches relaxed and the femme sat back, letting her plumed tassel rest on her white hind paws; her thick pelt was harassed by the heckling wind as it drove deep into her skin. Cyan eyes narrowed- to her right, the brush quivered; from the tight forest stepped her Drappa, Cwen, who obviously held no acquaintances with young Nexus and didn’t seem readily happy to accept the fact that a stranger had crossed her pack’s border. “Good day Cwen; this is-” At the Drappa’s cold sneering of the word ‘whelp’, Lydair whipped her head around to face Cwen, her gaze steady and calm as she looked at the silver femme, although her heart thudded at the femme’s cold words. “No whelp, Cwen. Draeg offered Ge-Rad to become his new pack; he accepted. He helped me when Amaya was wounded, remember?” Lydair prodded Cwen; the Drappa seemed to have no idea of several of the going-ons throughout Ge-Rad; it was to be expected, Lydair supposed, for she had four cubs to handle, and a pack to guard and lead, but the Healer had no remembrance of the fae ever being with Draeg during such matters, except for the initial meeting of many of Ge-Rad’s members.
Again Lydair felt a sudden ripple sweep through her and she gulped and gasped softly, bracing her paws and mentally killing herself for forgetting milk thistle; she had done a poor enough job with Uskiya, neglecting to bring the gray fae any herbs, but she had given Cwen some as well as Cal, and so she was content that her pack had no more injuries that interfere with each day’s passing- she simply hoped that, during the time of her pregnancy, no Varg suddenly became ill, or fought another. Awkwardly she shifted, not feeling entirely secure with the fact that Cwen and Draeg still had no knowledge that she was carrying pups; even her love, Koan, had no idea, and Lydair sighed gently. Hearing Nexus’ words, she was startled by his seemingly intuitive phrase; had she made it clear that she was agitated? Shrugging it off, she grinned to the burgundy pup and shook her head. “No...nothing is wrong, but thank you for asking.” Again she heard the distinct sounds of a Varg’s paw-falls, and she glanced over Cwen’s shoulder to see the silver warrior, and her loving mate., Koan, padding toward them. Yipping excitedly Lydair stood, her azure orbs dancing as she stepped closer to the scarred warrior and nuzzled him delightedly; throwing him an uneasy glance- first of the matter of his dislike for Cwen, and then, with a gentle smile, of his unborn, unknown, cubs,- she nipped his ear and woofed to her mate. “This is Nexus- Draeg told him to come.”

Looking over as Koan entered the dell where the youth, healer and Drappa resided, Cwen growled deeply in greeting to him as he passed her with little more than a glance. Though as he greeted them all, Cwen’s lip twitched and her aud flicked dismissively towards his last comment. Of course she was Cwen – he’d met her before several times before. And the silvery faemme knew he was simply trying to be smart – which irritated her deeply. “Just because your new mate is here…there is no need to be so wise fool,” she mumbled subtly to herself so that none of the three could have heard her – it was practically inaudible. Looking back to Lydair now as she threw her Drappa a cold stare, Cwen merely kept her gaze steady on the faemme’s icy blue hues – knowing that her steely grey hues flashed with the unknown…something that was greatly unpredictable and unstable at the same time. But before she could say something in return, the healer gave allowance to the youth – claiming that Draeg had given Nexus permission to enter Ge-Rad and become a member. “Ah well there is much of this pack that members fail to tell their incapable Drappa. But never the less – now I know and have been put back in my place,” she spoke blatantly before looking down at the timid youth, her erect tail flicking with thought. “Welcome youth to Ge-Rad. Please – don’t be put off by my insolence, you’ll get used to it,” she spoke crudely before turning tail on the group and slowly padded away from the trio, aiming now to seek out a separate den from the main pack’s one where she would give birth to her litter in a moon’s time. This time – she’d be properly prepared.
((Sorry, shaudy post and short. Also - I'm being very bitchy if no one could tell. Well I'm not longer needed really am I? So you three have fun ^^ ))
