The day was unusually quiet, with the exception of the insistent chirping of lera and the chatter and buzz of the insects that feasted on the rooting organisms and the insides of the mighty oaks. Fenris gazed down upon the Varg's home with a fierce smile; one particular Varg believed she could see his fangs behind the glorious amber smile. Or was it a snarl? When she was young, impulsive, and without a pack, she often wondered such things when her mother was not around to teach her the gifts of a healer. Perhaps if she had known more, she could have saved Draug... Lydair shook the vicious and sneering thought from her mind, instead she let her cyan oculars dart wildly from tree stand to tree stand, searching desperately for a small clearing in which she could perform her duties as Ge-Rad's healer fae. The cub she carried in her silvery-white maw had begun to weigh on the femme; she quickly wheeled to make sure the male cub was behind her and was relieved to find her was so. She mentally scorned herself and winced; what would Draeg and Cwen say when they found two cubs, neither of Ge-Rad, roaming about their packlands? Lydair sighed; she knew she had cost herself time- she would have to watch the cubs, unless another Varg stepped up as Nurse.
Suddenly her orbs flashed an odd green-blue and she wheeled, coming to a lapse in the trees where she could set her small burden down. she gently lay the black cub on the forest floor, again stooping to lick the blood from the femme's thick coat. Sighing, she whirled around to face the male cub, and her jaws opened as she spoke, voice strained with importance. "I need you now! Watch her- I'll be back soon. Do not leave."With that, the femme darted into the forest, brushing past trees, nothing but a blur as her paws graced the floor wildly. She slowed and came to a halt before a towering tree. rearing up, she placed her small paws against it and looked around the bark- tiny, eight-legged spiders crawled around their sticky webs. shrugging of the bitter smell as it stuck to her fangs, Lydair tore the webbing from the tree and began her trek back to the cubs.
Coming upon the duo she smiled her thanks to the male cub, for she was unable to speak. Pawing at he muzzle, the webbing hesitated before slipping off. She awkwardly picked it up with one paw and placed it on the cub's gory gash, using her nose to spread the stuff around- it would stop the bleeding, and Lydair could continue on without fear of the cub bleeding herself into a coma. She lunged into a sprint, leaves and benches skittering up behind her as her tongue lolled from an open mouth. In front of her lay a myriad of plants, some of her use, and some deadly to vargs. She picked her way around the plants until she came to a small patch of poppies- small, red-petaled flowers with black, or, rarely, yellow centers. She snatched them in her muzzle, reminding herself mentally not to chew or swallow, and walked anxiously around the grove, looking for a certain plant- Marsh Marigold. Its leaves were oddly lily-pad shaped, and she easily found the herb, Giving her thanks to Fenris, she rushed back to the pups.
Setting the poppies near the fae, Lydair chewed tediously on the marigold, nearly vomiting as the severely bitter taste flowed through her mouth. Lifting up a corner of the cobwebs with her nose, she spat the green ,mixture onto o wound and left the un-chewed flower with the poppies. Turning to the male and panting heavily, she drew in a deep breath. "Now...we wait." she barked simply, laying down.

The pines rustled across a crystalline sky as a chill wind carrying the breath of fall on its invisible wings through the land beyond the forest. The days had begun to grow shorter already and the nights longer, twilight hanging on the brink of its darkness. Life seemed to be preparing itself for the harshness of winter, and everything living had a purpose as winter watched from the horizon, waiting to sprinkle from the nonexistent clouds in the sky snow. The new pack that had settled in the dense woods nestled away from the Carpathian Mountains was getting accustomed to its new home, and they were beginning to work together as was there birthright to ensure the survival of every member. The Dragga and Drappa, harmonious together, were good, dominant leaders and their flourishing family was kept in line. The two, even Cwen, seemed to offer trust to the once Kerls, and not one of them seemed to be resistance to their welcoming smiles. Still new, the ranks of Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Sikla had not fallen in yet as everything, including the season, began to assert itself. Lydair, the hybrid wolf, was kind and fun, a great pack wolf and loyal to the marrow. Uskiya seemed to be quiet and respectful, while her mate, Cal, was fun and amusing. Shako seemed rather reserved, but eager to please and belong and not the least bit shy, while the cubs grew and learnt, absorbing all around them.
Trile, one of the youngest of the four cubs, was growing stronger and faster all the time. Born large, he had not grown as rapidly as his brother Kop, but as he tussled and ran through the woods along with his siblings he began to strengthen. He wasn’t as strong as a List cub, who grew up on the rocky ridges of great mountains, but he was becoming fleet and his narrow paws were fleet along the pine strewn ground. His white pelt was so large it made him seem bulkier than he actually was, and his blue eyes were beginning to fade into deep amber after his father Draeg. Maybe not as dominant as his father and brother, he had obstinate streaks where he turned into a furious snarling monster and managed to dominate Kop. Usually he was happy being Beta of the foursome, and instead of listening to stories about gods, he would run after stray feathers and track faint scents until they disappeared and left him sniffing mournfully at the dust.
At the moment he was following a much newer scent, one of his pack mates, Lydair. He looked determined and slightly mischievous as he stalked through the weaving trees, his nose inches above the ground. He wasn’t meandering like a hunting dog her sniffed left and right, but erect like the wild wolf. He couldn’t wait to see the look on the she-wolfs face when he found her, and he was thinking of praising words and the look of jealousy on Kop’s face. His will to hunt had developed earlier than most cubs, and while his brother used his size to fight, he would use his senses. Patience seemed to settle over him as he went on, and somehow he felt he wouldn’t mind going on days before he found her. This was really instinct that he was feeling, for when he was grown he would have to trail after Herla for many suns before he was in hunting distance, and he would have to rely on stamina and will to see him through.
It wasn’t long before the scent became fresher and fresher, and lifting his head he burst forward into a run. She had come this way only minutes before, and she couldn’t have gone far. He sped up, now going as fast as he possibly could. He wouldn’t to see her NOW, his strange patience suddenly turning into urgency churning in his belly. Suddenly he came upon her, but she was not alone: a black cub and a silver cub were with her, and one was bleeding. For a moment he was frozen, unsure, but next he came a step forward, looking nervous. “Wh-what happened,” he growled, looking at the strange faces.

Lydair had perked her head as she heard soft foot-falls of a varg, and, lifting her muzzle into the wind she cented an unmistakeable scent-- Ge-Rad. She stood up and barked, wagging her tail as Trile poked into the clearing, seemingly stalking her and the two stranger cubs like the hunter he would grow to be. She could see he was lean but lithe, much like herslef, and her cyan orbs gleamed proudly as she grinned to the pale cub. "Hello, Trile.." her voice grew softer, gentle, as her muzle swung aroudn to check on the bleeding she-cub and then back to Trile. She frowned at his question, but hurridly trotted to his side, looking down on Draeg and Cwen's hunter-cub. "I'm not sure yet." She barked, tone light and wispy in the air. One paw was raised with uncertainty; her tail curled around her hips. "I came upon the onyx she-cub in the woods- and the other. I'm fraid none are of Ge-rad, but I could scent no Balkar or Sarnes on them, and as you can see, Trile, the fae is badly hurt." she spoke gently to the cub. She looked up, euyes sparkling wistuflly- how she wished her damw as here to see her through this. Worry cloudedher vision and she grimaced; what would Draeg and Cwen say? Looking backwards, she caught the gaze of the strange male-cub's eyes. "This is Trile- the drappa and dragga's cub. We mean you no harm, as I am sure you do not mean us any." Lydair pressed her nose into trile's ear to reassure the cub before returning to the black femmes side; the webs hadn't dried yet; neither had they shrank. The marigold mush had drainign slowly; good, obviously most of it was dripping into the wound, for little of its juices slipped down the femmora's heaving sides.

[glow=blue,2,300]Nexus's fall eyes raised up, and he nodded to the larger female. He was unsure of how he had gotten looped into taking care of this female; after all, she had rejected his help, and the young male was scarcely certain he needed to, but he would. You didn't argue with your elders and betters... at least when you were unsure of whether or not they were going to kill you or not.
His head turned to look at the young female. She had been badly savaged, and it seemed as though she might not make it. But now.. .she had stablized a little, in terms of breathing. His impassive expression didn't change until the larger wolf came back. He glanced at her, returning her smile with one of his own.
He watched her actions with intrest. The art of healing had always amused him. He liked thinking that he could close wounds, even if he, himself, could not.
The new cub smelled of youth, like he did, but he had the bearing of a Dragga's cub. Nexus' eyes narrowed. How many times had a cub of that same bearing thrashed him, and when he'd had the gall to mention it, been thrashed by an elder wolf. Many a day was spent licking the wounds that alpha's would inflict in the name of their cubs.
He relaxed a little, and dipped his burgendy head to the youngster. "I'm sorry I didn't give my name sooner. I was taught that it was better that anyone you fear might be a foe as little information as possible. My name is Nexus." His voice was lighter then it had been. Instead of the dead lef voice he had used before, now it was lighter, like the wind bearing leaves upward. [/glow]

Lydair's eyes narrowed as Nexus cast Trile a glare, and she grolwed softly, lips curling backwards to reveal her glintign canines, but as Nexus relaxed, so did the hybrid femme. She glanced sideways at the ebony femme; her breathing regulated and the marigold and webs had achieved their job. She mentally let out a sigh of relief and turned back to Trile, eyes glittering with laughter and amusement as she spoke with a grin. "Did you track me, young hunter?" Trile may have not been related to her, but he was, of course, in her pack and Lydair felt rather proud of the pale he-cub. "You must stalk like a hunter a well, for I didn't hear your paw-steps until you broke through the brush." She thought about sending out a call for the drappa, or dragga, but decided to wait until the raven-pelted she-cub awoke- she knew that she may very well be in shock, tharned, and too many Vargs could scare her back into a faint. So Lydair waited for the cub to wake up, but int he mean time Lydair pinned her ears and settled back down, lids drooping over cyan eyes. She was hungry; Lydair's belly was gnawing at her mind, and she sighed softly and she lay her small head on lithe, dainty paws; her chin and throat blended with her legs, for they were both the same dazzling white.
Lydair was a naturally social Varg; she enjoyed large groups though she was quiet and seemingly reserved- but on her own or with another she was boisterous and quick to laugh. Many cubs enjoyed her company, for although it may have not of been her place, she was rather wise and intelligent for her age and often offered words of such. She thought back to her time in the Stone Castle; she had met several cubs- a ruddy, sickla-mann named Drathlic, a rather rude half-varg like herself named Amore, and a large, dominant male named Kop- Trile's brother, she supposed."Trile," she barked, voice softer than usual as she struggled to wake up. She shook vigorously and blinked her eyes. "Have you been on a real hunt, yet?"

Trile saw the quick frown settle over Lydair’s face and a flash of worry enter her cyan eyes. He nodded at his pack mate’s words and than looked at the unconscious black cub, blood still oozing out from under the cobwebs. The young cub knew very little about healing, but his stomach churned as he imagined himself baring those wounds. He looked away at the other cub. Eyes of fall met his own blue ones, and the look of hate coming from the new cub was like someone had bit him on the face. What had he ever done to this cub? Trile’s hackles bristled along his back and his lips raised to the tips of his white teeth. Immediate dislike rushed through him, but he relaxed a little as the cub gave him his name. He snorted slightly, still watching those eyes for that look of hate, but nothing entered them.
He was brought out of his thoughts by Lydair, and he looked up. Thinking about all the times he had ever tracked something down, he nodded his head. “Well, I’ve never been on a hunt, but I trail after things and I pounce my brother and sister,” he answered honestly.

((hope you dont mnd me joining:))
Kairi padded, her paws dragging across the forest floors as she wandered Ge rad. Her ears were almost flat against her head and her tail drooped to the side as she walked. Everything around her was changing. Ge rad was forever changed now. Ohh how Kai hated change. The young adult was birthed here in Gerad and everythign had gone well when all of a sudden the new alphas had come and taken over. Kairi could not believe that such intruders could have taken over her beloved pack, her family.
Because of this she cried. Because of this she had a family no more. Kairi let out a puppish whimper and padded on. Her father haad left gerad lands and her mother no where to be seen. This land that was her birth right to call home was now more alien then ever. The cool breeze that used to be warm and pleasent now sent shivers and chills down her spine.
Kairi sighed and padded on. But she stopped when she heard and smelt other vargs. Afraid that it was the alphas, afraid to see them, to remember what life was lost she decided to pad on but their scent was of a femme, one she now recognized as the Healer. Kairi let out an irritated growl, remembering that the fae had not liked her at first glance. But Lydair did not know what happened to her. No, she did not know what became of her family.
Kairi turned anyway and padded toward her, she was in no mood to be the bold varg all she wanted to do was wallow in her own self pity at the moment. So she looked up into the hybrid's eyes and let out a waeak smile. Sotmhign that was rare for Kairi ever since her parents had drifted apart. She watched the young pups and her eyes grew warmer, rememebring the days when she was a pup herself, tracking and trailing and exploring the Ge rad lands. She looekd to Trile, "You'll make a fine hunter someday" Kairi said as she turned to look at Lydair unknowing if the fae would chase her away. Kairi didn't understand, they treated her like an outsider, and intruder, when she was more at home here then anywhere else, or anyone of else for that matter.

Amaya forced open her heavy eyelids revealing her violet hues beneath. At first she was dazed, unable to find out where she was. The laughing sound of the river was gone and the ground di dnot seem so damp. Her deep purple oculars rolled over in the direction a few other Vargs, then to the young stranger who she had meant to to long ago, or had it? Time seem to be at lost any more. Awkwardly she felt comfortaed to ahev something familiar near by. Amaya slowly attempted to get up, however spurts of horrid pain burst down her side, slashing down her spine. A shiver vibrated her small body and for a moment she lay there once more. But then tried again. Finally, still trembling she was on her paws, but swayed as if to fall once more. The whispers of the other wolves' seemed muffledto her ears however at one point she picked up the familiar word 'Balkar'. An uneasy growl rumbled in her belly. The Night Hunters! Her first reation was to look around, but there seemed to be none. With great care she tried to speak, finding it hard since her thraot felt so raw and sore. "W-where am I?" Once more Amaya's eyes swooped over her surroundings, then they fell on the cobwebs that covered the gash on her side. Her lips wrinkled back revealing small, but sharp canines. What is that for?... She had no knowledge of healing since that was just th eopposite her father did. In fact this was what her had done! The growl rose, reverberating in her maw as she thought with great distaste about her father.

Lydair struggled for a moment between resentment and kindness, and finally the latter showed in a smile that graced her muzzle. Her cyan optics gleamed; although the younger Varg had rashly appraoched Cwen, Lydair did not know why and knew only that, as pack healer, everybody was her family. And true families wouldn't scorn and send away others. "Hello, Kairi." Lydair barked, light voice chirping happily on the wind. All suspicion of the fae had drained; Lydair knew what it felt like to have others hate you and she avoided putting such feelings on others unless it was absolutley neccessary. As Kairi gazed at Trile and spoke words of encouragement, Lydair relaxed and sat back; her tassel warpped around her hidnquarters and her glance moved to the purple-orbed ebony cub. Lydair saw her stir and hope sparked in the helear's heart; a moment later she struggled to her and Lydair nearly tripped in a mad scramble to the cub. As she sniffed the cobwebs and curled a lip up at it, Lydair bit back a gentle laugh and made her way to the cub. "I'm afraid you passed out, young one." she spoke softly, eyes full of compassion and sadness for the femme. "You are in the protection of Ge-Rad- I am Lydair, the healer of this pack." She stoope down, nosing the seeds that had been shaken from the poppies. "Can you swallow these/" she barked, tunring back to the cub. "It will help with the pain. And I'm afraid I'll need to dress your wound again...what is your name?" The hybrid femme asked. Pointing with her thin, short snout she waved towards the three wolves- all young, although the femme was the oldest of the cubs- Lydair was surprised to realize she was the only adult- usually there were others to criticize her as she worked. "That is Trile, one of our drappa's cubs, Nexus- he found you, she-cub, so i'd be rather thankful to him- and Kairi, our lead warrior."

[glow=black,2,3] A large white and grey male trotted through the Ge-Rad woods. His fading gray tipped tail was held high, swaying slighly, but sub-consiously. His muscles rippled under his white coat, the muscles in his fading gray legs flexed in perfect rythem. The fall wind made it a perfect day for a jog, just to be out and about and patrol the boundries. Though it wasn't his job, he liked to find himself useful.
A strong gust of wind blew, picking up the browning leaves around his stong gray paws. The Ge-Rad warrior caught a wiff of the air, and stopped head. He could smell the scent of a non pack member, perhaps two. Curiosity let him follow his nose toward the scents' source. Onward he padded, as his nose picked up even more scents: one belonging to his friend, Lydair, another to Trile, a cub, and a third belonging to- unless his was much mistaken- Aurora Kai, his warrior trainer and former member of Ge-Rad. All three scents were mixed with the two other Vargs.
With no hasitation, Shako picked up his pase to a steady canter, his paw pad muffling the thud of his paws and the crunch of the leaves. Ahead of him, he saw the fimiliar crimson plet of Kai, and the odd- colored one of Lydiar. He also reconized Trile's creamy coat, all wee looking at something infront of them. Slowing his pace, he came up on the three Vargs, his golden eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Good evening, Lydiar, Trile, Kai;" he said casually. Now, close to the group, he could clearly see two cubs- one silvery, the other ebony. They both seemed to have receved some herbs from the quick thinking healer, Lydiar. "And who are these two young one?" he asked, once again, casually, but with a hint of curiosity too. [/glow]

It was within the territroy of Ge-rad the gray fae could be found, wandering aimlessly as she explored her knew home, there were still packmates to meet and places to find but all this would come with time. Time had been of great importance before Uskiya had joined a pack, time had been something that was never on her side. No it mattered little to her at the moment. She would pass time by as if she never knew of it.
The trees above were losing their leaves and many littered the floor in front of the gray colored paws that padded silently across the littered ground. As she made her way through the trees her auds picked up the sound of small creatures that crawled dangerously close to her paws. She lifted her paw to avoid mashing small bugs and instead continued walking, though her pace was slow she soon found herself somewhere different. This place was foreign to her, many trees reached tall into the sky, as if reaching up for Fenris or Tor. Voices reached the fae's auds and she recognized one of them as Lydair's, the healer she had just recently met. The others she wasn't quite sure of, on sounded familar but she wasn't sure. Curiousity and the thought of seeing Lydair again caused the fae to trot off in the direction of the voices, when she arrived she noticed there were may vargs, only three did she recognize from elsewhere. There seemed to have been an air of urgency priar to Uskiya's arrival, she noticed that there were seeds upon the ground and wondered if the healer had done something. "Hi." she said coming slightly closer to the group of vargs but still sticking back some so as not to crowd anyone. She was curious as to what had happened but thought it better to stay quiet. She of course knew Lydair, and had heard Shako introduce himself before but knew little of him and the fae also knew from sight and voice Kairi, though she hadn't spoken to Shako or Kairi she would lke to get to know them when she could. The other vargs she would like to get to know as well but it seemed rather not the time, obviously the healer's knowledge had been needed, someone had been hurt but things seemed to be less threatening now.

Lydair's muzzle swung around; her eyes flashed and the odd, unnatural feeling of being watched and stalked came over her like a smothering bcloak. She shivered slightly, and her cyan orbs narrowed, but as she saw the white-pelted Shako emerge from the brush she grinned and yipped happily, trotting forward to greet him with a dip of her bi-colored cranium. "Good day to you also, Shako." her maw voiced, light tenor in the air and her azure eyes sparkled with happiness; she had met the he-varg before and he was sweet and kind. "The male cub is Nexus." she explained quickly, turning around to trot towards the others; she threw the word over her shoulder. "And the ebony cub- she just woke. Attacked by something, I'm afraid." Lydair hadn't realized she would be needed so soon, but pride swelled in her heart as she realized that she probably had saved the cub's life. Nexus, however- he was the one who had found her; Lydair had followed his scent untils eh came upon the she-cub. "Nexus found the she-cub. Saved her life..." She barked simply, smiling at the young male.
Again she heard the footfalls of another Varg, and she lifted her snout upwards to try and catch the scent. She recognized it; it belonegd to the she-Varg, Uskiya, the pack's Nurse- Lydair had yet to actually have a protuctive and interesting conversation with Ge-rad's Nurse, but she hoped to in the furutre, and she knew she would have many chances. As the gray uskiya appeared, Lydair smiled warmly at the fae, blue eyes sparkling. "Hello, Uskiya. How are you today?"

A swift breeze carried the scent of a wolf to the young whelps developing nose. He stiffened momentarily, lifting his muzzle in the air, his eyes alert and his body erect. For a moment his instinct wrestled inside of him, telling him to run yet ordering to stay and see what was coming. He relaxed as he suddenly realized that it was only Kai’s. Trile knew her as a grey wolf speckled with red, and he wasn’t so sure of her. She seemed almost resentful of her fellow pack mates, and something in her eyes made his fur bristle in discomfort. Next moment she was looking down at him, and he dropped his head to show his respect for her. The praise was startling, and he looked up, clearly surprised. Now he was even more unsure of what to think. “Er, thanks?” He growled, looking at her in question. He didn’t understand her sudden compliment, and as unjust as it was, he didn’t think of her as much of a Varg of Ge-Rad.
His attention was averted to the black, injured she wolf, and he clenched as she fell to the ground, in obvious pain. He thought she was going to fall once she was up, but she managed to stay on her paws. The Balkar? He knew of them, and his parents only spoke with fury when they mentioned them, though he didn’t know why. Vargs came and went, and he began to become restless.
