The snow was still thickly spread across the Transylvanian lands, the forest seemed smaller as the blanket lay so thickly it reached high up the tree's trunks. For once the skies were clear and the great sun god Fenris poured his golden glimmer across the land, no heat it seemed could melt such an icy air and crack the ice that threatened to slice one's skin...but for a day at least, there could be a change...
It had been a long night of trecking my sister's scent and still i could not catch up to her...or at least find her anyway. Panting heavily and searching the dazzling white horizon with my steely grey orbs i sighed and let my head droop as i padded forth towards the river which supplied the forest with the great need for water. I half expected it to be thick with ice and my needs shattered like a stone falling through it's exterior, yet - pleasantly surprised - i heard the distant trickling of water. My auds pressed forward and my spirits lightered as i pushed forward, pads numb with the cold straining to keep me from cripling, jsut thte need for water driving me forth. Snow had been my main supply of water, or the odd lera i caught would also help keep my energy up and thirst and hunger down, but it was too cold i found and hurt my head...if i found fresh water it may have been warmed ever so slightly by Fenris...this was my main hope. Reaching the river i saw it was still thick with ice, yet running along the top was a thin layer of crystal clear liquid. Smiling to myself i padded forward and crouched at the river bank, craning my neck down to lap at the cool, fresh water. It was cold, but at least it was no snow. After having my fill i stood up and looked around - there seemed to be nothing but silence...and it annoyed me. No songs of distant birds or mild muffles of near by rabbits and hares. I was all alone, and i didn't like it one bit. Growling deeply to console myself i turned and looked at the inviting snow. It was soft, but cold. Only my paws could feel it's chill as my pelt had grown so thick over the winter i couldn't feel even the slightest breeze - which satisfied me for the amount of blizzards i had travelled through. Yawing widely i padded to a spaced spot closer to the forest's edge and lay down, groaning as my muzzles began to spazm for lack of movement and my lids began to droop. Falling asleep in the open was not a good idea, but the distant heat of Fenris began to stroke my black back and slowly i began to drift off, concious mind turning into unconcious slumber...shadows began to take me and warmth welcomed me.

Shadow Dawn was walking past the river when she saw the black varg lying in the snow. She walked closer, her pads numbing in the snow and ice, but she ignored it. She stepped over the trickle of water and was close to the wolf.
She sniffed the body and nudged it, seeing if it was still alive. She could see the steady rise and fall of the chest, so she knew it was alive. She sat down and lapped at some of the water and looked at the varg. "Not a wise idea falling asleep out here in the snow." she mumbled between one lap.

((Just so ya know, i'm not black, it's just my back *coughs and points to his picture* ))
The sky's blue exterior glistened even brighter as Fenris rose higher into his abode, warming the land ever so slightly with his crisp, winter touch. A young female approached the sleeping male as he had only jsut a few minutes before fallen into a deep clumber, tired and worn out from his treck - following the only remaining member of his family and bloodline that he knew of...for where were his parents? They had not tracked the siblings down once they sneeked from the den. Had they been caught in a blizzard and merely suspected their cubs to be dead? No matter, that was the past - three moons possibly, Moth could never keep track of time now adays. Being a Kerl was harder than he'd expected, but at least he was getting along fine in life.
There she was...Anca. I could see her, not far from my grasp...standing happily with that cheeky grin she often bore and that high tail - testing my stance and her own luck. I couldn't help but laugh, she was indeed silly. But deep down in my heart i was worried, worried that i would lose her again. Through the winter months it had been the worst. We were always seperated and there was no hope of finding one another for days on end. We had gotten lsot together, and i was always drowned i fear of losing her permanently to a wolf like the Balkar or another savage pack Moth had only heard about on the wind; it was probably jsut his imagination of course. A voice? Who was it? Could it have been Anca. My lids opened slowly only to shut tightly in pain as the bright, unwelcoming dazzle of sun on snow hit my eyes. Growling deeply i rolled over and sat up, body now larger as i grew out of cubhood and into adulthood, yet still my paws were large and so too were my ears...it was a clumsy age. Just then she caugt my eyes. Who was this youngster who had suddenly stumbled into my presence and was now judging where i slept? Or had she even said anything...was it my own mind again? Who cared, she was rude enough to just stoll up to me without even fearing me...this was Kerl territory and she should be less careless - even at her age.
Who are you to judge?
My voice was hoarse and deep after sleep, and my stomach began to ache as i felt the comings of hunger tuch at my guts. Winter truly was a hard time for a lone varg.

She smirked and turned around. "Just saying so if you don't want to get ill, and can't survive."
She turned back to the water, lapping some of it to take the edge of hunger from her gut. It made her head hurt, and she had to wince a slight bit, but she felt better after awhile.
Standing up, she turned to the varg. ~So he wasn't black like I thought. Feh, might as well.~ "Name's Shadow Dawn, loner after I was chased out of my pack."
