Crystal ran around in circles, being a newborn there wasn't much she could do. She was 3 months old and parentless. She would surely die if she didnt' find her sisters soon. She had three long lost sisters, she knew at least two ahd to be alive. But the poor pup knew nothing. When she became dizzy seh plooped down under a tree. A shadow cast it's gaze over her. She gulped and looked up. A huge bear was hinched over her. Crystal stood up and ran. She tripped and fell. The bear gained on her. Who could save the poor pup now?

A lone she-wolf padded slowly through the woods. The winter trees were still of frost and snow, but it was thawing, For spring was coming. The air had a chill and the wind whipped throught the bare trees and brought many scents to her nostrils. She lifted her maw to the wind, but still slowly trodded through the underbrush. Suddenly, ahead she caught a familiar scent. It was that of a great Putnar. For the bear was not a creature to mess with. Indeed, that was the scent upon the breeze. Alert, but still calm, she lifted her grey maw to the great heavens above and let out an eerie howl that all amongst the tundra would be sure to hear. For the air was cold and the mist of her warm breath rose higher, but soon drifted away, engulfed by the greater cold. For it seemed even life was like that. A great moment of joy was not to last long, for reality would soon find it and smother it until every last emotion was gone. Falstaf sighed inwardly, as she brought up that subject within her mind. She had seen so much, and felt so much horror.
Yet, she continued on through the lifeless trees. But, she stood still as she scented the bear again. The bushes and grass in front of her was broken and strewn. The scent of bear was thick and she could tell it was quite large. But mingled in with the bear scent, was another too. A varg. Desperately, she leapt ahead. There could be a varg up ahead and she wanted to see one of her kind again. Swiftly, she broke through the cover of the trees and saw the scene below her fall into place. A bear was advancing on a small pup. Her hackles rose and she snarled, spit flying off her sharp, dagger teeth. She ran forwards, trying to plan her attack. Picking a fight with a bear was not a good idea. Especially if the bear meant trouble.

Little Crystal yelped when she saw Falstaf, her paw was broken and the bear was not more than 8 yards away! As Crystal watched the wolf approach she yelped "My paw! It is broken!" She could not move and she needed help. As the wolf came closer she noticed that it reminded her of her sister. Then, she slowly drifted back into reality and saw the bear. No more than 5 yards, the wolf, 7 yards away. She sniffed the cold air and closed her little eyes. The pain of her paw drifted awway. She lifted herself up and limped but the bear sent down a thrashing claw apon her head and knocked her out. Then, teh beast prepared to go in for the kill....

Falstaf glared coldly at the bear, with an aggressive glint within her silver eyes. For it was not normal for a healthy bear to go out of its way for a varg. The bears around Transylvania often only preyed upon smaller Lera and berries that could be soon found. She scented the air again, but it was still the same. The bear silhoetted by the afternoon sun and the small varg with a broken paw no more that a leap's distance away. She snarled again furiosly as she tried to catch the bear's attention.
Her claws gripped the ground, for she knew that she would need a stance in order to keep her ground against the bear's tremendous weight. But, suddenly, a though: a scene flashed before her eyes. Still, she was clever and she had a daring plan. For if she was to face the bear, she and the pup would meet doom and perish in the cold bitter landscape. She was ready for a fight, yet she could almost taste victory. No bear would get the better of her. She did not travel down life's paths to perish in such a matter.
She faced her foe, sizing it up and leapt forwrd without the slightest warning. Through her mouthful of bear she cried to the wolf. "Run! And quickly if you value your life! Ignore pain, because death is much greater." She let go of the bear and landed back on the ground. The bear's blood was bitter in her mouth, but she charged at it again, dogding a mighty blow from its claws.

Crystal could not let the poor wolf die. She may be little, but she was very clever. As she watched the two fight she finally understood. The she-wolf was her long lost sister! "FALSTAF!!!!!" IT'S YOU!" she let out a slight shreek as she saw the bear and Falstaf foghting. Crystal limped over to the back of the bear. With all of her might she howled. Howled as loud as her little voice could. She then used all her strenght to jusmp onto the bear's back. She sank her teeth deep inti the bear. The bear roared and backed away from the wolf. Crystal let go and dropped to the ground. The bear roared. Crystal stood up. She then looked at Falstaf. her eyes said " Let's go now" She limped, but was too slow to go on her own. Falsatf would ahve to carry her. But then she saw the bear's eyes glare at her. it light out a mighty roar. Then, it swiped at Crystal. it slasehd her side, and she began to bleed. She was losing muh blood very quickly...Tiem was running out...

The she-wolf gazed back at Cyrstal. For the wolf had proclaimed her her long lost sister. How could it be true? For all her sisters were dead. At least the younger ones. Through the bloody ragged slashes down her face, she could still see the bear hovering over the scene and Crystal coming back over. Even if she was related to her, coming back put her in much danger.
"No, you must leave! If you value your life!", she repeated again. The now diming sky was filled with sunset clouds. The red sun seemed to leave slashes through the sky that seemed like livid wounds. For, in her eyes, they reflected her situation. Suddenly, in swift movement, she grasped Crystal lin her bloody jaws. She had no choice but to abandon her plan. For she now saw that she would have to leave the bear. To fight or flee. It seemed that this was what every wolf had to choose from in times of danger. It was now their time to flee.
Quickly, before the bear came back to its senses she dashed out of the clearing into the shadowy forest. She moved with liquid grace as she leapt over branches. But she had to stop to wipe to blood from her eyes.... for it fell like tears: blood red tears of pain.
Soon, she was exhausted from her combined efforts of defendning off the bear, carrying the small varg, and fleeing through the land. She let go of Crystal and lay there panting, gasping for breath. But, faintly, she could still smell the bear. It would now be further away. For she had at least bought them time.

[glow=blue,9,300]Nyobe had heard sounds of yelping and growls. Not just one quick end, but a series of this. She gazed down at her meal and looked up at the hungry birds. Shaking her head, she took off. Bounding through the trees like the perfect Putnar, she made no sound as she continued hurriedly. She slwoed in a graceful manner as she approached the bear. Its teeth were stained with blood and a small trail of it led to the foot of the bear, indicating that the prey survived. Nyobe followed the trail with her keen eyes to find her sister and some other wolf laying hidden from the bear. wait a second, thought Nyobe, It's her... she stared at the other wolf in awe and gazed back at the confused bear. It gave a loud growl and stomped on the ground in frustration.
She glanced back and forth at the two scenes, and decided. With a determined look and narrowed eyes, she snuck up on the bear. Slowly advancing while crouching, she silently made her way to the back of the bear. When it turned at just the right angle, she pounced. It yelped in surprise and pain as Nyobe dug her teeth and claws into the bear's thick hide. Blood quickly stained her creamy coat and she yelled at Falstaf and the other varg, "RUN!" And with that clasped back onto the now thraashing bear.[/glow]

Falstaf, her eyes narrowed now, was still exhausted and confused. How ever much her pain and problem, she knew she must get up. For the bear would soon come crashing through the bush, furious of its lost prey. She knew this as she remembered the many times a hare had fled from right underneath her. Suddenly, her eyes widened as she saw a swift shape approach. She stuttered and then finally recognized the varg. "Nyobe! you have come!" But, through the blood covering her face and her mangled fur, she was not as reognizable. As Nyobe approached the bear and got a hold of it, she feared for her. The bear, if Nyobe missed a jump or wasn't quick enough, would finish her off. And very soon at that.
Ignoring her personal pain, she quickly got to her paws and shook herself free of the ground's binding gravity. She was about to pick up Crystal again and pad off through the dense forest, but she couldn't leave Nyobe behind. Not after all they had been through. "Nyobe! You must not fight it! We all, must run, and quickly if we want to survive." She growled softly as she thought about death. No, she wasn't ready for it. It might only be around the corner, but she would only accept it when the time came. Now a time as this.
Standing there, still, she waited for Nyobe to react to her plea. "We must go...", she whispered softly to Crystal. "All of us, because life is sacred and it must never be wasted. Never." Her last words were frim and she stood by them. They almost had a hint of a dare to defy me... Luckily, on their side, it wouod be moon rise and she didn't think the great bear could see through dark, unlike the varg.

Nyobe heard her sister's pleas, but jus gripped tighter. She edged her paws towards the front of the bear and dug in as much as she could. It gave out another scream of pain and its teeth grabbed for Nyobe. Their eyes met for the slightest second, and Nyobe knew this would be her end. With one last effort she crunched down onto the bear's throat and tasted the warm blood in her mouth. The bear gasped as it tried to yelp again and breathe, but Nyobe has crushed its windpipe. The bear, too, gave a last effort and swiped its huge paw...hitting nyobe. She went flying backwards towards the duo and a yelp of agonzing pain escaped her. She landed and rolled a few times before stopping. Immediately, as if nothing happened, she got up and grabbed Crystal, "C'mon! let's go before others come!" And with that she glanced back at the fatally wounded bear and took off...she only hoped Falstaf would come to her senses from all the shock and follow.

Crystal yelped. She looked Nyobe in the eye. Problem, she couldn't run, she was bleeding and needed help immeadetly. She howled again, slowly and sadly before closing her little eyes adn laying her head on the cold dark ground,. The once burning sun slipped past the earth, and darkness swept over the land. The three wolves, helpless to the fate of two putnar, savored as much life that they possibly had left. How much longer could they live, fight, and hope? What could they possibly do....

As she recovered from the scene of the great bear, Falstaf finally turned around and faced Nyobe and Crystal. "Yes, we must go. For life itself." She quickly padded off through the darkness and entered the cover of the trees. Every object still glowed, as if the sun's final rays were still lasting. But as her eyes glinted in the dark, she knew it was because Tor gave the varg the power to see: to see when darkness consumed all.
She stopped and gazed behind her. "I know a safe destination, where we could go. Just follow in my footsteps." She peered up at the great Moon above her and thought of Tor, smiling down upon them. Perhaps they were in danger, but the gods knew all. She padded off quickly, bounding over a fallen log and the mist from her breath rising in the air. It was cold, but the cold you would find in the nighttime air of spring.
The trees above were still bare and jutted from the darkness, as if to grab her and drag her to her doom. She suddered slightly, but eyed all her surroundings closly. Many Putnar may be out, some greater than the varg. Some that might rather be hidden for the time being. Still, she kept her pace and soon stopped to see whether Nyobe had followed behind her, in the silence of the vast forest.

Nyobe started to go with Crystal in her gentle grasp, but halted when she heard a tiny yelp. She gingerly put Crystal down and called back at Falstaf, who was only 50 meters away, "Falstaf! We can't leave! Crystal is hurt. Go and find the Brurdea Berries, it should help." Her eyes glanced back at the pup laying on the ground. There was nothing to do, or could do, so she stood there with ears going in every direction searching for danger. Not a sound...everything seemed so peaceful for once in her life. Evrything had been so chaotic...her pack, the sepreation of the survivors, finding them again, losing Analiese, Death becoming colder, Nayati's death, and Ty's return...

Falstaf took a few steps towards Nyobe and listened to her words carefully. The Bururdea berries...yes...she knew of them. "I shall be back Nyobe, but, meanwhile, I add my strength to your paws. " She gave a glance back at Nyobe and turned around, her tail curling behind her. The black tipped fur of her pelt swaying in the night breeze. She padded forward quickly and searched the ground for the berries.
Swiftly, like Tor herself, she made through the forest. Her eyes flashing in the consuming darkness and her mind cunning and agile. Suddenly, in the moonlight, she caught a glance at a burrow of rabbits, several out at night for feeding. She snuck to the cover of a nearby hedge and made sure the wind wasn't towards them. She slyly snuck behind them, but they bolted as they caught her hunter's presence in the shadows. They dashed to the nearest hole, but they could only get in one by one. Panicing, the last rabbit abandoned the chaos and ran to the cover of the trees. Falstaf, sensing what it had done, padded after it.
She gained on it ever more and could see it pant with the effort. She overtook it and gave it a savage nip just above the spine. It suddenly stopped running and fell to the gound. Her maw stained with its blood, she howled a song of the Putnar to Tor above. Although, realizing that she must find the berries, she picked the up the rabbit in her jaws and continued on.
With the scent of blood all over her face, she could smell nothing other. She would have to use her cunning and sight to see within the shadows. Coming on to the edge, she saw a clear feild filled with corn. There were humans near, but, yet were the berries she sought. Padding along the edge, she soon came to up turned earth which many plants were growing out of. Sensing that the berries were there, she put the rabbit down and pulled off the berries. Along with them, she picked up the rabbit and dahsed back to where Nyobe had been.
Leaping over the lanscpae, her paws eating up the ground as she ran, she had soon come back to Nyobe and Crystal. She put the rabbit down in front of them and the berries in front of Nyobe. "I have completed what is to be done.", she said simply, but queitly. She glanced back at Nyobe.
