// Okay.... Phantom is stuck at home *is sick, bleh* so instead of watching Pirates of the Carribean 2 for the twentyeth time in two days, she'll make and random post! Whee-oohh!! *sings* I got a jar o' dirt!!! I got a jar o' dirt!!! //
Phantom woke with a start, yellow orbs glittering brightly in the darkness of the den. Damn, she thought. Not again... She gave a low groan and lifted her head. Her sleeplessness had thought to have been finally thwarted, for she had drifted off with the rest of the pack some hours ago. Now she was, yet again, fully awake at Tor only knew what hour.
The Beta got to her feet, slowly, trying to to disturb her slumbering packmates. She looked down at her mate, curled up in the earth beside her. Phantom smiled, giving him a gentle lick on his ear. "Be back soon, Love," she whispered. She turned and picked her way to the den's entrance. The cold air embraced her as she emerged from the ground. Snowflakes fell soft and silent from the cloudy skies.
Phantom peered about her, taking in a long breath of the sharp air. The future Drappa adored snowfalls like this, when the night was silent as the stars and washed with the white of falling snow. She grinned playfuly and padded forward, looking back at the huge pawprints left behind in the silver. They were neatly placed in long strides. She was reminded of a day long ago, where she and Snowy had played together in the snow all day long. Though she was young, Phantom felt that her cubhood was too far gone.
But the grin remained on her face. Phantom looked up to the gray heavens, and, through a break in the clouds, rested her eyes upon a few solitary stars, shimering in the night. Yes, it was a beautiful night.
//this sucks. But what can I say? I'm just a bored wolfie stuck at home with a cold. *chugs Dayquil*//

Abisso took advantage of his youth and the snow. After returning to Koran after a short while out, (He swore it was short, no more wandering for this warrior-in-training, he SWORE) he had decided that he still had energy to burn, being that it was in his nature, and so he just had to wander around aimlessly in the territory goofing off. He did that best.
Like the foolish, lumbering hybrid he was, the youth lept into the air with powerful hind legs, snapping his strong maw that punctured the silence like a gunshot. It was all in good jest, however, and he had no idea that others were trying to sleep, or trying to enjoy the silence that snowfalls brought forth. The small lighting of the night flickered at the backs of his eyes, and the mirrors made his orbs look like two amber candlelights in the dark. In silhouette he looked more like a large dog rather than a large Varg, and at a quick glance, one would be fooled that a tamed beast wandered onto Koran territory rather than wild and free Varg.
Large mitts caused snow t overturn as he walked, and his large ears swirved to catch sound. Finding none, he continues onward, snapping at snow here and there with his trap-like maw.
After a few minutes or so of meaningless play, he caught the form of a familiar Varg. He immediately stopped his romping in the snow and shook white fluff off of his husky and german shepherd patterned pelt to catch wind. Despite the cold nipping at the innards of his nares, his heart leapt because he actually recognized the scent. He could actually place a name to the scent rather than wonder who such Varg was, as he did often in his own territory. He needed to socailize with the pack Varg more...
"Phantom!" he calls out, banner waving as he goes to meet the older Varg.

((I had a nice, long post typed out, and then my computer had to go and freeze up on me and close the window. >_< This will have to do, I'm afraid.))
Snow fell peacefully outside of Kai's den, adding to the profusion of white already covering the ground. He was curled up in the back of his den, fluffy tail curled around his nose in an attempt to keep out the cold and stay warm. Had he so chose, he could have easily bunked with the rest of the pack in one of the larger dens, as most often did during this time of the year, cuddled closely together in a big, cozy group, thriving off of eachothers warmth. Something appealed to him though about sleeping alone, and since he was not freezing, he had no reason to venture to the family den. Amber optics watched the snow falling outside with wonder. He had always liked winter for one reason or another, for with it seemed to bring renewal and the chance for redemption with the new year.
Though his eyelids were heavy with fatigue, he was not yet asleep. The events of the day had worn him down as patrolling the border was hard work! Though he wnjoyed his job, he knew that Koran would have to find some more warriors soon, as he wouldn't be able to do the job alone. Letting out a contented sigh that ruffled the fur on his tail, he let his amber orbs hide behind their lids and drifted off into a light slumber.
Snap!
His eyes shot open and his ears pricked forward as an unusual sound echoed outside of the den. What was it? Letting out a disgruntled sigh, he stretched out his long, ebon legs before rising to his paws and padding outisde. It seemed that he wouldn't be getting much sleep tonight.
Upon exiting the den, a gust of cold air hit him head on, sending a chill down his spine. Standing in front of the pack den he could see Phantom, the packs Beta, staring at the descending flakes that now blanketed his ebon pelt. It wasn't her that had made the nouse, however. Not far off he spotted the hybrid Abisso, running around and snapping happily at the falling snow.
He couldn't blame the young pup for being excited, for something about the weather often awoke a feling of joy somewhere inside of him. As a youn pup he couldn't have been happier playing in the snow, though it seemed like forever since he had had such a feeling. Since the death of his parents in the not too distant past, he had straightened up sonsiderably and had perhaps been forced to grow up faster than any young pup should. Putting on a smile, he padded over to Phantom and bowed his head slightly in greeting.
"Have trouble sleeping?" he inquired. She seemed to be enjoying the snow as much as Abisso, but in a different, ore gentle way. He supposed it gave her a feeling like it did him, one of amazement at the beauty of nature."Abisso would make a great warrior if he could learn to harness some of that energy" he said, the smile still playing on his maw and his banner waving behind him happily.

The dark brown female's ears twitched as the soft crunching of Snow echoed behind her. Turning her head, she watched as the young Abisso lalloped through the snow, snapping tirelessly at the falling flakes. He called her name, and Phantom barked back to him, her tail waving in the air.
"Abisso, hello." Phantom smiled at the youngster. Her eyes flickered with amusment at his playful antics but questioning, too. "What are you doing out of the den at this time of night? Shouldn't you be sleeping?" Again the Daughter of Koran heard pawsteps in the snow. She lifted her head and turned to see a black shape etched against the bright silver of the snow. Kai, her senses told her. He was fairly new to the pack, and had gained respect and ranking rather quickly. She had been keeping a distant watch on the black male, looking for certain traits of which would prove useful in a new Beta, but she had yet to speak with him and get to know him properly. Phantom dipped her head to the warrior in return to his greeting.
"No, I'm afraid not. Looks like you're restless as well, Kai." She grinned at his comment on Abisso, and gave a lighthearted laugh. "Yes, he would. Abisso has the spring of a rabbit in his stride."

//Sorry for the wait...//
"I know I should be sleeping, but I guess I couldn't..." he yips towards the Beta, amber eyes glistening with excitement of the winter snow. Adrenaline rush, who could blame the poor lad?
He spotted the other Varg, and though Abisso knew, considering he was a fellow packmate, that he should know of him, sadly, the young'n failed to. It annoyed him of his foolishness to not get to know the pack, but he was shortly going to fix that.
Trotting up towards Phantom with a goofy grin places upon his maw, the large cub was the same size as she. And as stated many times before, he still had some growing up to do. Not just mentally, oh no, that would take a miracle to get rid of his giddiness, but in size rather. That surely shouldn't take long, for youth seem to discontiue growth after their second year. But there was something about this Varg that seemed to say he'd keep going, far after that...
"Hello!" he says to the unknown mann, seeing that he already knew his name. This bothered him even more, but he still did not show it. "So you know that I want to be a warrior?"
//Whoo, craptastic...//

((Don't feel bad, Abisso. My post is nothing to gawk at, either.))
Smiling in turn at Phantom's comment, the young pup soon came bounding over to the two of them, his happy-go-lucky grin still pasted to his maw. Kai smiled down warmly at his younger pack mate, amber orbs glistening as he noticed a similar energy shining in Abisso's orbs that had been present when he was a pup, and sometimes still shone through.
Kai, too, shared the problem that he knew little of his own pack. In truth, he had never actually met Abisso, just heard bits and pieces from conversations about him. Mostly what he heard was that he was a young and energetic hybrid, full of life and with aspirations of becoming a fine warrior of Koran. He was extremely large for a pup, already the size of Phantom, but if he could learn to use those muscles, he would make a fine warrior indeed.
Bowing his head respectfully to the pup, he spoke in a light tone. "I don't believe we've ever been introduced. I'm Kai." For once, he left the title of Warrior off of his introduction, perhaps because he was talking to his own pack members and figured that he didn't need to add it on. "I've heard mention of it a few times, yes. And I think that with a little work, you could shape up to be a fine warrior indeed." Koran was in dire need of warriors to defend it in times of hardship, and with youth like Abisso running about aspiring to fill the job, why not let them? Besides, Kai had already started liking the pup, since he had seen even the smallest glimpse of himself in him.

Phantom licked her lips thoughtfuly as she watched Kai and Abisso converse. Her eyes become lost, though, as her attention swayed to the falling snowflakes. But her focus snapped back just in time to hear Kai's last comment.
Phantom gave her head a small shake, then growled happily; "Kai is right. You'd make a fine addition to our warriors, Abisso."
Phantom turned to the ebon warrior, her yellow eyes shining. "I may be just a Beta now, and I'm not truly in charge of such things," she began, her soft voice as crisp as the air. "And I'm sure we'll need to speak with Tarkah about it, but, Kai, would you be interested in training Abisso?"
