(it would be nice if Phantom replied first Kadie-poo)
Grey whispy clouds drifted across the pale blue sky. THe light of Fenris pale and weak as it pulled away from the horizon. Its dappled sunlight touched the forest awakening it from its frozen state from the night. The forest shivered as it brushed off the frost, the grasses and mosses decorated in the white crystals that son turned into nothing but water that damped the backgrounds. THe twittering of spring birds and rodents faded into the busy chattering of work as they prepared for the coming winter. Already it seemed the last days of summer were beginning to fade away as evident as the lush greens of leaves morphed into firey reds and yellows over night. Overhead a flock or two of traveling geese and ducks resounded in the morning light.
honk honk honk. Was the sound that Tarkah heard. "Augh leave me alone" The ivory she wolf growled as she twisted around in her sleep. Ears fell back as she lifted her head. She growled as she crawled out of her den, golden eyes lookign towards the sky as she watched the flock disappear in the mornign mist. "Stupid no brained birds" the drappa muttered under her breath as she stretched and began to pad across the terrain. Already her paws were wet from the dew as she drew up towards her favourite spot in all of koran and Translavania. It was a neat little outcrop, a small cliff that enabled Tarkah too look over all of koran. It was also the spot where she spent much of her time, waiting for the crimson dragga. Though she knew that now she could only find him in her dreams, the Drappa still loved this place. It was peaceful and beautiful. She could see the lush valley of koran before her and pride swelled in the drappa. She had many great years sharing this beauty with her mate, but Tarkah could not be selfish.
Her black lips curled into a smile as she looked to a pale pink summer flower beside her. She watched as a sudden breeze took a loose petal away from it. Tarkah grinned, "Summer is ending too soon for you isn't it little flower. But I s'pose everyone has their time, has their season. And the season is changing on you now arent they? But you will live on won't you? Your season will come again, yet in heart of another seed. A seed that has grown up, goign through and living through everything, making her strong. And in her the season will live on..." Tarkah smiled as she turned her head back to look out into the koran valley, "And so is my season.
Tarkah padded forward taking in a deep soothing breath. "Its time Andre. I know you will approve of my choice" Tarkah closed her golden eyes her muzzle lifting into the morning air as she began to sing, her song as she called to the Daughter of Koran.

She heard a voice. Calm, filled with love and so familiar. Her eyes blinked open, yellow points in the darkness of night. She was in the meadow, under a brilliant star-spattered sky. A huge crescent moon hung overhead like Tor's great claw, and casting a silvery blue glow over the tall, dark grasses. The air was warm and smelled of flowers and stardust. Phantom gazed before her. "Who's there? Who called for me?" she asked.
"Phantom, over here."
She swung her head. There stood her parents, and her beloved brother. Long dead they were, yes, but they looked as healthy as they had in life. "Mama, Father," she whimpered. "Ghost, too." She approached them slowly, her eyes misting over with wonder. They had come back to her, for just a while, they had come back to her...
But her expression of love and wonder soon turned to terror. The three forms before her began to weld together, changing shape. The three vargs of her past seemed to join their bodies together, rising into a horrible tower of fur and blood. There was the cracking and crunching of bones, the groaning of muscles stretching. Now a new form stood before her. The fur was dark brown, messy and caked with blood and dirt. Even more blood dribbled out of scars on it's muzzle, chest, and shoulder. Yellow eyes, stained with red, peered out of the beast's skull.
"What... what are you?" She asked, slinking back in fear.
"Don't you know?" the beast laughed. "Silly varg, are you blind or what?"
That voice... the varg! It looked exactly like...
"I'm you!"
...herself. "Ahhh!" Phantom gasped as she woke, her eyes flying open. They closed tightly again as a draft of dusty earth entered her lungs and sent her into a fit of coughing. When she could breathe again, she lay panting and trembling. She had not slept well at all these past few months. Though she had hidden her constant fatigue well, these nightmares were not so easy to control. Tor forbid if someone heard her screaming in her sleep. She didn't want to be fussed over.
A howl met her ears, making them tremble. "Tarkah." Almost immediately she was running. Phantom knew where Tarkah was; the overlook. Both she and the Drappa had special ties to that place. From up there, one could see all of Koran, and right into the setting sun. She flew up the slope, her paws expertly taking her to the stoney cliff. Phantom slowed her pace to a slow walk as Tarkah came into sight. She was staring out into the morning light, gazing over the territory. Phantom paused noiselessly and watched her for a moment. Tarkah looked a bit sad, but proud and strong, too. Just as she usually looked these days.
But there was something about the air that hung around the place. Something aged and urgent, but yet so calm and ready. Phantom tensed her body. Something was going to happen. Something was happening at that very moment, and it made the Beta tremble to her bones. She stepped forward, shakily. "Tarkah... Tarkah, you wanted to see me?"
Slowly, tired and almost cowardly, she crept beside the Drappa. "What's wrong? What is happening?"[/color]

(ermm hows about post after phantoms reply to this post?)
Tarkah lifted her muzzle, taking in the chilly air, It was purely evident that the coming of autumn was right on summer's heels. Tarkah sighed peacefully when the sound of soft paw pads alerted her of the arrival of Phantom. Tarkah smiled as she turned around to face her daughter. The dark hued beta might not have been a daughter of blood but she was the as close to it as one of her birth children could be. Besides Tarkah had looked after Phantom since she was a cub that called Koran her home.
Tarkah greeted the she wofl with an affectionate nuzzle before steppign back to give the she wolf room. The drappa could see apprehension in the fea's eyes, as if expecting Tarkah to announce that the sky would fall and the world would end at any moment. Instead Tarkah offered a warm smile of reassurence. "No no, don't worry Phantom. There is nothing wrong. In fact I think the time is quite right."
Tarkah turned and padded back to the cliff edge, her head poised with the air of pride. Tarkah looekd out onto the vast landscape that came to be known as Koran. She remembered back on its first days and how nervous Tarkah had felt. She remembered that tingling feeling and that shiver down the spine as she lead the first pack hunt, or when she made the first pack howl, starting off the melodious song.
Tarkah looked over her shoulder to Phantom. "Everything has its season. When one's season is over another comes to take its place. When a doe falls a fawn takes her place. " Tarkah spoke softly as her golden eyes blinked steadily as they watched an eagle soaring over the valley's looking for suitible prey before moving on to more suitible habitat for the coming winter.
Tarkah then turned and faced Phantom "Winter is fast approaching us once again. Who knows how bad it will be or how much prey we will be able to feast upon for the next few months. Tor only pray for us that it will not be one of wolfbane's winters" Tarkah began to pad over to Phantom her tail raised as her earswere perked and she looked as proud as ever. "You've grown so much Phantom and you make me so very proud of you. You're more my daughter then any of my birth-daughters" Tarkah smiled, and it was true, all of the drappa's birth cubs had grown up and flew the coop. and Tarkah could hardly even say that the 'nightmare trio' of sarnes were her daughters, although she still loved them deep down. "Not only have you been here with me and the pack through all the hardships, but you have been here as a beta, an advisor and most importantly a daughter. Tarkah pressed her muzzle ontop of Phantoms and her vocie was warm and mother like, but wise and proud. "As the forest grows, the seasons change, and my seasons are about to change...My daughter it is time for your season to unfurl and spread its wings. Tarkah spoke, her golden eyes bright and as warm as the golden sun itself. "It is yourtime now, as my reign of Koran will sink with the setting sun as it will rise with yours. Phantom, it is time for you to be drappa of Koran" The words swelled as the churned through the koran, and as if to agree with the drappa's words the winds danced and chimed a happy tune as it licked the changing leaves.

The words hit Phantom like a charging Herla stag.
She stood, ridged, then trembling as Tarkah spoke to her. The Drappa's voice was calm and proud. Her words wrapped around the Daughter's thoughts like a queen's robe, comforting but... heavy. Very heavy. It made Phantom feel an undeniable sense of gravity, and of the duties that lay before her. She began to feel the full burded of the pack settle onto her shoulders.
"I..." Phantom began to speak, but her thoughts came crashing down all at once. Deep within her, the soul of a Drappa was stirring. She could feel it; the howl of the hunt, the song of the pack. The power of words, the respect of the followers. The pride of being a leader.
But she felt something else, too. Denial. Denial of her own strength and intelligence. But mostly denial of Tarkah's age. Tarkah was not too old, for she still had a youthful spring, but it was getting obvious that life was taking it's toll on her. Phantom knew that Tarkah's time as leader was at a close, but what lay ahead of her was what Phantom truly feared. Tarkah would get older, weaker, and she would have to watch helplessly as time went by. She could not imagine Tarkah growing old and dying.
"Tarkah, you..." she began, stuttering at first, but soon her words broke out of her like a river. "You can't, not yet. You're still strong and wise and young enough to lead! You've got seasons and seasons ahead of you! What would Andre think if you gave it all up so soon? The pack needs you, Tarkah!"
Her words flew out in a panic, but she forced herself to calm. Phantom closed her eyes and bowed her head so low that her nose almost touched the stone. "I can't, Tarkah," she whimpered. "I'm not wise or strong enough to do this. I don't even know how to lead! I'm not meant to be a Drappa!"
Half of her words were true. Even though the spirit of the Drappa was stirring within her, she tried to ignore it's calls. Phantom didn't feel worthy enough to be a leader. Not fast, wise, or strong enough. But most of all, she didn't want to feel the pain of letting go of Tarkah.

(sorry internet was down)
THe ivory drappa looked across the lush valley a smile breaking onto her lips as she watched the scenery infront of her. A rush of cool wind hit her and she breath the cool air in as it ruffld her fur. She paused before turning her head to look to Phantom, listening to her reply.
The drappa listened to her voice as if she were distressed, yet Tarkah only smiled, her face warm. Tarkah blinked her golden eyes clear and bright as if rejuvinating and reviving her youth and energy in those sunny bright orbs as they starred deep into the eyes of phantom. Tarkah knew that her daughter would be a fine drapa, she could see it in her heart, no matter what Phantom thought. Tarkah shook her head, her paws padding a step forward. There was no sadness in her eyes today, only pride and a sense of knowing. "Oh Phantom. You know I'd never truly leave Koran... but time stops fo no one. True I might still be strong, but i think it is time to pass the rising sun to another. I am not as young as I was, and I'm afraid the trauma with Andre has made me realize that I really am older then i thought to be. " Tarkah took a pace or two forward and smiled, though a sad flicker of emotion ran through the drappa's farcade. "Andre... Tarkah murmered as he eyes blinkd back the emotions that tugged at her heart. She turned to face Phantom once again.
"Andre would approve. He would be proud." Tarkah smiled, he eyes sparkling. "I know he wouldn't have picked any other wolf for the job" she spoke. She sighed comfortably, "With andre gone now... I think it is right for me to pass on my leadership. I cannot lead without Andre here, with the dragga no longer here... I just feel, that it is the right time."
Tarkah blinkd then her head turned to see Phantom, her head dpped. Tarkah let out a soft whine and dipped her muzzle low to lift Phantom's. "shh, shh phantom." Tarkah whispered softly. " I trust in you, i know that you have what it takes. It takes more then wisdom and strength to become a drappa. You also need to follow your heart. It will become clearer to you soon. " Tarkah smiled as she ran her tongue along the dark she wolf's muzzle reassuringly.

Still trembling, Phantom listened to her mother's words. After the words sank in, the dark brown beta lifted her head, her eyes grateful but full of shame as well. "I..." she began. "I guess you're right. I'm sorry. I'm just frightened, and everything spilled out...
She sighed, thinking of her mate. He would be here soon, and Phantom mentally struck herself as she thought of his proud, amber eyes. Kadin would be just as shocked as she, but he would be calmer about it, and accept the position with honor. Guilt and embarrasment rose in her chest, but she held it off. Self-doubt would get her nowhere.
"Allright," she said, looking off into the scenery before them. Another thought popped into her mind. "I trust you, Tarkah. But, I have to know- what will you do once I'm made Drappa? Will you be allright?"

(sorry its taken so long to reply)
The raven-colored wolf trotted through the Koran territory, most thoughts at bay if simply to enjoy the scenery of his pack. He was proud to belong to one, even more so to this particular family. This place was filled with his past, so much so than any other place in Transylvania, and most of it those memories were happy ones. Kadin, the beta of the Koran, was glad to be here again.
He exhaled deeply as he came upon a small bluff and sat between two pitted rocks atop it, the trees around creaking and mumbling to one another as soft bouts of wind shuddered their bright leaves. Just on the breeze, he could taste the distinct, sharp odor of winter, and he sighed, hesitant thoughts momentarily shadowing his enjoyment. He was worried about the pack this winter, especially because he had naught a clue where many of them were. Still, he flicked his ears with irritation, and pushed those thoughts at bay. They would survive and get along well, especially with Tarkah's wisdom to guide them through.
And speaking of such wolves, he turned his head sharply to his left as he heard the faint voice of his Drappa calling for his mate. He sat a moment after her voice was nothing but the echoes off of far mountains, wondering as to the nature of her call. It didn't seem urgent, or a warning either. Curious, but not wanting to intrude, Kadin turned back to gaze just down the valley slopes for a few moments more, inhaling deeply the scent of this land and listening to the voices of nature about him - especially the loud honking noise of geese flying south. He lowered his brow and looked up in annoyance. It was the same geese that Tarkah had seen not long before, but he didn't know. He took it as a cue to leave and head toward Tarkah and Phantom, who would have undoubtedly arrived by now.
He made his way across the valley toward a small, neat little outcropping, his paws treading through midmorning dew. Kadin took his time, simply because he had not been called specifically. Maybe it was merely curiosity that pulled him toward the meeting. In any case, he didn't arrive until Tarkah had already told his mate of her decision. Although he hadn't heard anything as he padded toward them, now merely a few meters away, he noticed that Phantom seemed shocked. Worry blinked at him, but he noticed that Tarkah seemed calm and, if anything, more proud. He tilted his head slightly, as he trotted forward, his brow narrowed just so.
"Hello Tarkah, Phantom." He growled, padding up to them and pushing his muzzle into his mate's neck fur, before he looked over at Tarkah and dipped his head respectfully. "Uh, what's going on? Is there something wrong?" He asked, not sure why something smelled different, so-to-speak.

Tarkah looked affectionatly at Phantom, proud of the brown she wolf. "Good, thats what i want to hear" The white wolf chuckled, unable to keep a straight face as her lips cracked into a smile. She blinked pausing as if she were lost i nthought, yet her eyes were not glazed, she shrugged, "I'll always be there to guide you Phantom," tarkah spoke, "I'll stay in Koran, perhaps I can become the nurse." Tarkah chuckled, "Well hopefully I'll still be able to help Koran n some sort of way.
Tarkah then looked to her right to where the rustlings of undergrowth caught her attention. Golden optics found themselves upon an ebon hued wolf. Tarkah padde over and tapped Kadin's muzzle with her own in a greeting. Tarkah shook her head, "No nothing is wrong. I have called you two to deliver you news. Phantom knows already. Now kadin I have watched you and Phantom grow up from young pups and I do say I'm awful proud of you. You two have gone so far, so much has happened and still you two manage and you can recover from whatever wounds inflicted upon you. This is why Kadin I am deciding to entrust Koran's leadership to you and Phantom" Tarkah explained.

Phantom smiled gratefully. Yes, she should have known better. Tarkah wouldn't just leave, and the thought of Tarkah aging gracefuly into the position of the pack nurse brought comfort to the young Beta.
The falling of soft pawsteps and his sweet scenttold Phantom that her mate was apporaching. She shined lovingly, licking his ear as he buried his muzzle in her neck. Pressing close to him, she listened as Tarkah adressed him.
When the Drappa had finished, she gazed up at Kadin, waiting to see what his reaction was. She said nothing, but she didn't need words to talk to him. Her eyes held the message.
It's happened, Kadin. I'm scared, but it's our time to lead Koran.
//this is bad. forgive me.//
