Kai wandered aimlessly through the dark valley. The burning eye of Fenris had not yet made its way into the dark morning sky, and the temperature was too low for the sun to make much of a difference anyway. He padded quietly over the hardly packed ground, his large paws made not a sound as his long legs carried him over the earth without effort. In wandering all night, he had stumbled into the territory of another pack. In the back of his mind, a voice kept telling him to howl Tratto's Blessing, but he ignored it. He saw no signs of varg around, and decided that finding a quick meal and leaving would be his best bet. The pack system was like a huge grid, and he was tired of always having to stick to the borders. A large cloud of hot breath had formed in front of his face after he stopped to sniff the air. His amber eyes were filled with the hope of detecting the scent of a lera he could call a meal. A sly smile played on his muzzle as he resumed moving quickly through valley. Finally, he spied the source of the scent he was following- a white rabbit. Kai licked his chops silently, crouching low to the ground as not to be seen by his prey. Black ears stood alert atop his skull, listening for any signs of movement coming from the little lera. He was closing in now on the pathetic creature and was close enough, or so he thought, to break into a run and still be able to catch the rabbit if it happened to bolt.
He knew that it was now or never- possibly his only chance at a meal for another few days. His black form bolted across the white-covered grass, all the time keeping his golden eyes fixed on his target. As soon as the rabbit saw him, it took off into the brush, hoping to somehow escape, but it misjudged Kai's speed and iron will. Within seconds, the rabbit's neck was caught in a powerful vice and its life spilled into Kai's mouth and onto the ground, staining the snow with crimson splotches. As Kai devoured his kill, he couldn't have cared less if one of the pack members of the territory found him. The meat warmed his insides and soothed his aching belly. After he had finished, he settled down in the snow, figuring he would give his tired body a bit of rest before trekking onward.

A pair of golden eyes flashed in the crisp morning. The air was remarkably fresh and the scents of pine and tree sap stung the air. Winter was stil alive amidst the forests and especially in Koran.
Between the rows of bracken brush a streamline body rustled. A mane of thick white fur shook as it trekked through the snow covered ground, leaving pnly the trace of footprints. Paws stopped and golden orbs blinked to look out into the valley plains. A dark shape moved, contrasting out from the white snow. The lupine licked her lips and her black tipped ears twitched with curiosity. Tail flickered and she was on her way again but this time she moved towards the valley, and where she had seen the black image of a wolf form.
Tarkah panted lightly, releasing a stream of hot visible breath into the winte chill. Her eyes contracted pinning her vision on the black shape, now so close that she could scent his aroma. It was a young varg. Tarkah watched with interest as he stalked through the snow. Her tail twitched and she stalked after the young male.
Tarkah watched from her hiding, her golden optics following the varg's every move. Lickign her dry lips she watched as a hare bursted from the snow and soon the ebon wolf was after it. Muscles beneath the snow white drappa twitched as she felt every want to go after the hare herself, to expierience the joy and acceleration of the hunt.
A wolfy grin exposed itself on the drappa's maw as she padded forward toward the black male who had just finished eating his prize.
The male was a new wolf of koran and still Tarkah was testign him, to see if he belonged in her pack. For a pack was more then a gathered group of wolves. But a family. So far this wolf was doing well. Tarkah approached her tail up right and her head held high to show her dominance as she trotted up from behidn the black male. "Nice catch you made Kai" she said as she greeted him from the shadows. "Though i must say you're up early no?" Tarkah said with a yawn as she raised her eyes to the horizon where finally a slip of orange light could be seen.

He started at the approach of the femme, as he hadn't heard nor saw her coming. Turning, he saw that it was Tarkah, the Drappa of Koran. He remained on the ground, to show that he was indeed lower than her, and bowed his head slightly too. He had chosen the Koran territory for his hunt, because he was in the midst of being tested for acception. If he proved worthy, he would be able to call Koran his new home, instead of leading the life of a lone kerl. He knew he probably wouldn't have a porblem proving himself, afterall...Koran was all about loyalty to family, a characteristic he possessed well before venturing to this land. He smiled a goofy grin up at Tarkah, and was thankful that it was this kind, beautiful femme that had found him here, instead of someone else that might have attacked him for trespassing.
"Thankyou, Tarkah. Had I known you would be paying me a visit, I would hve saved some for you.." he eyed the empty carcass that was starting to gather files and other insects, no doubt flying scavengers would claim it after the two varg had cleared out. "You know the old saying, 'the early varg catches the hare'," he chuckled to himself at his recalling of the saying his father had shared with him, days before he was supposed to go on his first hunt. It never happened though, due to the tradjedy that struck his faily early on...he had to learn to hunt for himself, and with the added help of his friend, Zhentee. He hadn't forgotten the kind, old varg he had met near the river, who had shown him the kindness he had never known. He made a mental note to visit Zhentee soon, now that they were soon to be of the same pack.

The mouth-watering scent of blood touched Kahuri’s nose as she padded through the snow. Immediately she halted, muzzle up, picking the smell from the others that swirled into her nostrils with each breath. Along with that came the scent of Tarkah, the Drappa and one she could not categorize at all. From what se could tell it was a male, and a stranger to her. To investigate further the she-wolf plodded towards the smells.
Her bright, polished emerald eyes were soon fixed upon two forms- Tarkah and the new comer. He was a dark shade of black, blood and fur that was not his own flecked his muzzle. Bones littered the ground not far from his paws. They were speaking, she picked up the name Kai, and being unfamiliar she presumed it to belong to this young dragga. Well, no point to hide and spy now. Go and see what’s up. Slowly she padded form her shelter in the shadows and approached.
“Hello.” She barked cheerily as she came closer. “What do we have here? A new member?” She pondered, eyeing Kai with a smile. Her bushy blue hued tail raised and swayed back and forth. “Or just a visitor?”

Aside from Tarkah, a new scent floated through the air and alerted his senses to the presence of another. Not yet familiar with the Koran pack, he could not distinguish the varg as anyone he had ever met before, though the scent gave her away as being a femme. Amber eyes searched the horizon for signs of another, his breath swirling intricate designs arounf his dark muzzle and face.
But a few yards off, he saw the light she-wolf approaching. His expression held no fear, for she looked friendly enough with her friendly smile and wagging tail. As the sound of her voice entered his ears, his own black fan of a tail began to wag and he opened his mouth in a panting smile. After licking what remained of the gore from his maw, he spoke. His voice was young but strong and held a certain potential.
"Hello!" he barked happily. "I'm Kai, the newest member of Koran." The smile on his maw spread widely, his proud head held high, though not to rival the dominance the femme held over him. "Who are you?"

Tarkah smiled and dipped her muzzle into a nod of greeting. She chuckled and her tail gave a swift wag as she grinned. "Not to worry Kai. I've already eaten" Tarkah said with a simple nod and smile. From Kai's saying Tarkah laughed with a hearty chuckle. Her tail swishing Tarkah's golden orbs looked toward Kai, "So getting a hang of the Koran territory yet?" Tarkah asked, her eyes swerving to gaze toward the forests with a heavy look of pride.
Tarkah then cocked her head, nose twitching as she turned her head to look over the snowy grounds to see a blue-tinted she wolf padding toward the,. Her tail wagging and a large smile on her lips Tarkah skipped over toward Kahuri, her pink tongue hanging out slightly as she gave the blue wolf a nuzzle and licking her on the muzzle as a greeting. "hello kahuri" Tarkah said stepping back as she turned her golden gaze onto Kai. Tarkah smiled, "Yes Kai here is our newest member, and I do hope he will fit in well with Koran" Tarkah said with a smile.
"So" the white drappa said turning to the story-teller, "How have you been?" she asked as the white drappa sat down on her hauches.

//AHHHHH! So sorry I haven't post in SO long!//
Kahuri smiled, a new member! That was great!
"My name is Kahuri, storyteller of the pack." She said proudly, raising her tassel before turning to Tarkah. "I've been great, and happy to see some ofthe winter wearing off." Though she looke down at the snow that gathered at her paws. Though it's not over yet.
"Not to long ago a cub came, her name was SIltrhim. She was daghter of my good Midnight, the scout that. Well, use to be here." A twinge of sorrow ebbed at her tone, because of her long lost campanion and who was Siltrim's father. Drake. HEr enemy, and brother. "Then I found out Drake was her father. He, he was brother and a Night Hunter." It pained her to think of such things. She wanted to love her sibling, yet the truth was still their and created such a gap between him and her. He killed them. She thought bitterly. He killed then all Slowly she raised her head, mentally shaking off te beganning feelings of the hate she felt towards Him. Time to change the subject!
"So Kai, what are you thinking of being? Hunter? Warroir? Scout?"

Tarkah padded toward Kahuri and smiled, her own tail swishign delightedly for the companionship of the blue tinged she wolf. Tarkah nodded, "I do hope the winter wears off soon" she said with a hopeful glimmer in her golden hues. "Though I haver to say, i think i'm smelling the scent pf spring on the south winds." Tarkah said thoughtfully as she then turned to gaze at Kai and smiled.
Tarkah looked to Kahuri as she began to spoke of the raven black she wolf midnight. Tarkah remembered her scout well. but even remembered the sad day of when Midnight had came to Tarkah and had ask for permission to leave the pack. Tarkah of course had obliged and watched as the she wolf left. THe white drappa could not control the destinies of her pack members nor could she force them to stray from what their heart yearned. But to hear Kahuri speak of Midnight's daughter was a surprise to Tarkah. THe drappa had wondered if Midnight had a mate, even so she would never have gussed that she had her own daughter as well. "How is Silthrim then?" she asked breathlessly. Though Tarkah's lips couldn't help but twitch with menace at the thought of a balkar no matter how fond she was with midnight.
Tarkah was even more surprised as Kahuri spoke of Drake. The ivory pelted drappa had remember Kahuri telling her before that she had a brother named Drake. Tarkah's ear's twitched as she saw the glimmer of resentment in her eyes that trapped a twinge of pain. Tarkah dipped her head and touched her nose with Kahuri's shoulder in a silent understanding.
The Whtie drappa made no objection to Kahuri's change of subject and so turned to Kai. Tarkah smiled. "Yes Kai. I suppose you've been with Koran long enough to have a job now" she said with a happy swish of her tail.

((Sorry for the wait you guys, I've had bad things to deal with lately..))
With the topic of winter floating around from one Varg to another, he couldn't help but look around at the serene landscape. Koran. This was where he belonged now, this was his home. Home was something he hadn't thought of for a long time, and he certainly never thought he would have another one. To think, him, joining a pack! His young pup's mind had embedded the idea that he would be a kerl forever. He was glad it wasn't so.
There seemed to be a tone of sadness in Kahuri's words, though he knew naught of the Varg she spoke of. A friend, who had been close to her, left? His ears twitched at the words 'Night Hunter'. Though he had never encountered one of the Balkar, he had heard enough stories to last a lifetime and knew enough that he never wanted to meet one. How hard must it be to have one for a brother? As a part of your family? He was glad that was not the case for him as well, though he did feel sympathy for the old storyteller.
He had been staring somewhat shyly at the ground until he was addressed again. His tail swished comfortably from side to side as he considered what job he would like to have. Hunter? He already knew he was capable of hunting, the rabbit filling his belly was evidence enough of that, though he had never hunted with a pack for big game and was unsure how he would fare with that. Warrior? He didn't really have the brawn for it, though if he had to, he was sure he could fend of a good-sized Varg. His frame was more lanky than muscular and he decided that without proper training, he would never make a good warrior. Scout? He was fairly sure he was sneaky enough to creep along the brush without being heard. He had come a long way from being that cowering, noisy cub Zhentee had found by the river. Finally, he decided that any of the three jobs sounded suitable for him.
"I will go wherever I am required," he said respectively to the two elders, "Though if I were to be a warrior, I'm sure I would need some sort of training..."

Midnight- she was a scout. Kahuri thought mournfully, yet forced the bothersome thougts away. They were gone onw. Both of them. Hopefully somewhere up in the heavens watching her, and Silthrim. Finally she looked back up at Kai, seeming to arise from her thougthsas if awaking from a dream.
"We could always use a hunter- as I can tell you seem to be quite talented in that area. But we do need a few warriors..." Sh rambled on, her voice dwindling as she forced herself to tink about something else. Then she turned to the white drappa who still stood near by. "What do you think Tarkah?"
//Oooh! The shortness.//

(sorry for the uber late reply... boggeddown with hmwk)
Tarkah looked to the skies herself. Wondering where Midnight had gone. Letting out a soft sigh she then turned to Kai and smiled. "Well we could always use hunters true, but we'll all help you hunt as well" Tarkah said. Now it was her turn to ramble as she took a step or two forward, her mind in deep thought.
Tarkah examined Kai. Her golden orbs blinking as she watched. He had a muscular body and his legs seemed to hold the strength of a hundred herla. With a quick flick her tail she nodded to Kahuri. "I think that would be a good idea don't you kahuri? A warrior would be a nice addition to the koran pack" she said with a smile. "Well yes, you'll need some one to train you" she said and began to think. Who would be suitable to train the male. Not Markaz, a varg that had been her beta male, yet had passed away and traveled to hunt with tor and fenris.
Nor Demon, though Tarkah had not seen her sister( though not related by blood) for awhile, and soem say that she was now the Seer of the valley. Tarkah was still unsure. Then she looked to Kahuri, and the decison clicked, "Well Kai, if you want to become awarrior Kahuri and I can train you" Tarkah said with a bark of cheer. "Of course Kahuri if you don't want to I can still train you myself" she added, looking over to the blue hued she wolf to see if she disagreed or agreed.

He didn't mind being dubbed a warrior, he was just happy to finally be assigned a job. It made him feel like the pack really needed him, like he really belonged. His tail wagged contentedly behind him like a black fan. He didn't see why he couldn't be trained as a warrior, and be a hunter as well, though his naive mind could be racing to conclusions and not fully understanding the effort one job took.
His head cocked to the side as he listened to Tarkah list off names of people nusuitable to train for a warrior, and was surprised when she decided that the two femmes would be training him! He did not object because they were his superiors, and because he knew nothing of their skills as warriors. One could not tell the skills of another simply by looking at them, he promptly reminded himself.
"Sounds good to me," he said cheerily, "When can we get started?"

(hmm sorry i thought I'd wait till kahuri posted buut oooh well!)
Tarkah nodded her tail swishing to the side. It would be good to have another warrior for Koran. The winter was harsh but now with the coming of spring the wolves could live prosperously again. "Right" Tarkah said and standing up from her haunches. "Well, Kai, when ever you're up to it" she said with a small nod. Her black tipped ears made a swivelling flick as she thought of an appropriote time. "Would you like to start at dawn tommorow? The spring air in the morning is a time fit for training" she suggested with a thoughtful lick to her lips, "and besides, we could probably go hunting afterwards for a late breakfast" Tarkah said with a laugh. The drappa was in a light mood today. All events of the past that were grim seeming to melt away along with the snow. It must have been the spring air or somthing, but either way Tarkah didn't feel it in her heart or tongue to be snappy. Yet she felt like her old self again. A playful pup hardly recognizable as the drappa of a pack fit for a varg. But her she was wagging her tail off as she swept a white paw across the slushy snow.

"A warrior!" She said with a smile. But there seemed to be something behind it... "I would love to help train him. Fighting has never been my greatest ability though." She added, cocking her head with a strange look ong her face. Yo u beat your brother once. Killed him. An dhe's a Night Hunter. A voice whispered slyly in her head. I didn't kill him! She retorted. Then realized with a fright she was 'talking' to herself. That's not good. Shaking her head softly Kahuri forced her grin again and looked up athe two kind faces. "Tomarrow at dawn." She said with a nod. "I'll be there!." //I wrote this quickly- expect some spellign mistakes. //
