The wold hovered in the solemn darkness of twilight. When time rests between day and night. A soft glow warmed the sky, lighting up the massive forms of the mountains. The growing radiance turning the bluish black sky soft cyan tint, thus evolving into the smooth shades of lavender and then pink. Raising from that the orangey glow grew into the heavens, turning into a bright yellow. Finally the brilliant orb of fire breached the mountaintops and sent golden rays onto the waiting woods below.
Restlessly Kahuri slept. Turning and shifting on the spot she lay on, but the whole time her eyelids remained shut. The she-wolf’s lips moved as she whispered words from the dreams that played in her head. Sometimes her brow furrowed in the look or fear or worry. Then that would change into a silent snarl. One of the beams fell on her face and slowly her eyelids lifted, revealing the bright emerald pools beneath. Her gaze shifted from side of her to another, blinking once or twice before slowly getting to her paws. Standing she shook the tiny crystal drew drops from her bluish gray fur, the beads of liquid flying off of her. Once more Kahuri glanced around her, then bowing forward she stretched out her long limbs. Digging at the earth with her claws and yawning. Her jaws opened wide, lips curling back and baring long white teeth. Then once more she straightened her self up.
The soft patter of her own paws blended in with the sprouting chirps of birds. Their nimble forms dancing through the air. Fenris crawled sluggishly into the sky, the day raising its head higher. The darkness had been chased back by now, the sun light nipping at its heels and herding it somewhere else into the world to light the day some where else. So for now, everything was brushed in the amber gaze of the giving orb. A breeze shook the trees like the soft breath of a god as he sighed. Relived to see the waking life below once more. Kahuri herself was quite relieved, it had been raining consistently for many days and for a while it seemed Fenris had left the Varg to wander in the cold damp world. But not he opened his great eye once more after slumbering behind the clouds for so long. Puddles spattered the ground and tree branches slumped, hanging in a slouch, still heavy from the rain they had taken. Drops still fell from the leaves, sometimes falling down on the fae’s limpid maw. Above at times a bird or squirrel would shift the branches showing the ground below with water, each bead of water fell, catching the light then shatter on the ground.
Though it was a beautiful day, the sun out, the lovely fragrance of moisture from the recent rain refreshing her lungs as she inhaled it deeply. But awkwardly Kahuri felt sad. A strange sorrow that drained the excitement from her body. Sapping the strength from her soul. It could have just been from the fact summer was leaving and the simple change of season. But that was not it. The remorse that now wedges itself into her heart had been there for a while, but now it had dug deep enough that she could feel it. The true reason had been brought to her from the contemporary dreams. That had made her remember event that had occurred in the past. Something she despised. Though some where happy, that only made her feel worse and others would bring anger. All mixing together and dulling the happiness she should be feeling.
Beginning way back, when her parents (gently of course) had forced her from the den. Then leading to when she returned home, only to find another family in it, and then all the memories of her brother. Drake. Finding his covered with blood that one day and him trying to kill her. Then the fight they had. Taking place upon the Stone Den. Kahuri felt a cold chill streak down her spine. She had tried to kill him, actually did or so she thought. But now he was back! And now, now he and her closet friend becoming mates… Balkar and Koran, friend and foe. And as she thought about it all, about how much that has happened over her life brought this sorrow.
