My entry for the JTSSC - it's awful, please forgive me!
The water slid by without so much as a gurgle. The only sound emanating from it’s crystal-form was when a fish shattered the surface to snap up an insect. If anyone took the time to stare down into the surface, they would see shoals of little fish swimming together, and then occasionally a darker shade of a bigger fish, on the hunt. Above the water’s surface, the sky was an intense blue, and only a few scattered clouds were in the air. Scattered in the horizon. The river – if it really should be called such a grand name, for it really was not that big. Too deep to be called a brook, too small and too narrow to be called a river, the body of water moved by so calmly, it barely even tickles the branches of the willow trees who had dipped their long fingers into it’s liquids. The willow trees that lined the banks of the water were surrounded by long grass that rippled and quivered in the almost undetectable breeze, that would whisper past your cheek and cool you ever so slightly - a gentle respite from the heat that poured down from the sun in the sky above.
A figure, lone a silent, rested beneath the enormous looming willow that hung like a gentle giant over the trickling stream. With her back propped comfortably against the ancient trunk and head bowed forward, allowing long flowing locks of ringlet red hair to fall over her hidden face, the woman slumbered lightly in the shade; freeing herself of the intense afternoon sunlight. A sharp call rang out from the branches above her and a startled wood pigeon dramatically threw itself skywards, wings flapping erratically in the progress.
Slowly the woman lifted her head, her reaction unaltered by the sudden disturbance of the peace. Soft curls fell back from her pallid skin and revealed her bright, almost fiery, hazel eyes. Pink lips curled back delicately into a tender smile as she peered up through the branches to spot a rather disgruntled owl peering down at her, shrieking with distaste at what she was. A light chuckle shook her chest and she shook her head with little care.
“I hear you, I hear you,” she spoke, tones rich a intoxicating. Gathering herself together, she picked up her naked form and strode casually towards the clear waters, dipping her bare feet into the cooling waters slowly before crossing, climbing out onto opposite grassy bank and standing tall. The rich pigment of red in her hair shone brilliantly under the powerful sunlight as the gentle breeze playfully ruffled it.
A deep sigh escaped her chest, leaving the land silent and still. And suddenly, the woman but all disappeared from sight behind a blinding white light, leaving nothing behind but the small and sleek form of a nimble vixen. Broad auds perked up as the distant and near inaudible sound of another reached them. The very same vivid hazel hues that were all too indistinguishable on the woman resided within the fox’s skull; alert and bright, full of cunning and wit. Her three thick and brushy tassels flicked in spontaneous directions with thought as her ebony nasal twitched lightly, picking up the all too familiar scent on the breeze.
Fahlyn, come back to me…
Hazel hues were momentarily lost behind ember red lids as she blinked, long and thoughtfully. On opening them once more, a deep fire resided within her sockets, no longer that of a natural fox or human. However it was not a fire of rage and anger, yet of knowledge and wisdom; calming and warm like the summer sunlight. Fahlyn, otherwise known as the Chinese Fox, was nothing more than a symbol of bad luck to those who laid their eyes upon her. Many who had only heard of her beautiful naked form or her enticing three tails would have never thought it possible that such a curious being could cause anything more than joy, wonder and splendour. Yet it was those who had witnessed these things that knew of the true power she possessed, and regretted it for all eternity.
For a moment, recognition seemed to flicker within the fiery pools of her eyes before igniting and diminishing once more. Another silent moment passed before at last she strode forward, short and yet slender legs carrying her through the emerald sea of grass with surprising ease.
Blæc, I cannot and will not return to you. It is not my time, and it will not be my time for another eternity yet. Go, leave me in peace.
The unseen presence altered, changing the calm world into one full of tension and anger, stopping the fox in her tracks. Fahlyn’s ears flexed back momentarily before her form shifted once more in a flash of blinding white light back to the pallid, naked figure of a woman. Her fiery pits remained unchanged throughout the transformation, expect for the sudden spitting of fury and malice that was now evident within their depths.
The peace had been disturbed and now the world seemed cloaked by darkness as the presence and the tension grew stronger. The gentle breeze had altered into a bustling wind, whipping the fox’s locks of luscious red hair right and left. The apparently illusive clouds from before now began to roll in and furled aggressively in the atmosphere. A deep rumble that would have suggested thunder caused the earth beneath Fahyln’s bare to tremble, and yet words echoed through the air, reverberating forcefully into the delicate ears of the fox causing her to cringe and curl back her lips into a toothy snarl, fiery hues blazing now with power and wrath.
Leave you in peace? I am no where near peace myself! After the eternity of hell that you put me through I feel that the only way to resolve this unfortunate turn of events is for you to be mine. For you to live the life of the damned you encounter.
A rippling of bumps ran across Fahlyn’s ivory skin as all hairs stood on end. The chilling beat of the wind began to make her feel raw and beaten. And yet, through all this she stood tall and firm, flailing red hair only helping to fuel that look of malice and fury within her creased expression. With a powerful step forward and throwing her arm out towards the powerful presence, the palm of her hand splayed open as though reaching out for something to hold onto, she parted her clenched teeth to speak.
You cannot change fate Blæc, no matter how hard you try to condemn me down the same road you chose to take. It was you who stumbled across my path, and it was you who laid your eyes upon me. It was you who chose to take me and it was you who could not let go. You have trapped your own soul in purgatory, not me. I am not the monster I am made out to be!
The furious winds suddenly eased, though the tension remained distinct within the atmosphere. Instead, fingers of an invisible breeze caressed the body of the fox, stroking her firm stomach and wrapping themselves around her slender back and neck. The fire within her eyes was suddenly and all too quickly put out, replacing it with those pure hazel orbs once more. Fatigue suddenly took over her firm limbs and she fell limply forward into the sea of green beneath her, eyes rolling back in her head as she landed with a soft thud onto the earth below.
Another rumble quaked the land, though the fox did not stir this time, remaining wilted where she fell.
No, you are no monster. You are a cursed beauty who has destroyed the life of many, including mine. Until you are once more by my side, I shall not rest; My Love; My Fahlyn.
Silence and peace fell once more as the tension began to ease gradually, slipping away with the sands of time. And with this change the clouds and the chilling winds reduced, caressing the fallen body of the fox with warmth and comfort once more. With the return of silence and serenity, a bright light once more enveloped her naked human form, causing the world to be blinded if but for a minute before it settled, revealing two bodies lying limp in the emerald sea.
Stirring if from a tranquil slumber, Fahlyn opened her pale lids to reveal hazel eyes that were void of knowledge and wisdom, empty of time and experience; human eyes. Lifting her head and propping herself upon her elbow, she peered at her trembling hands, clenching them with confusion as to the lack of power she held within them. The soft grunt of another startled her and caused her heart to stutter slightly. Though this act simply caused her more confusion and a deep frown furrowed her brow before she peered slowly over her shoulder. Hazel hues landed on the form of a man, naked and yet strong. His muscled body twitched as his sharply featured face turned towards her, lids opening slowly to reveal rich eyes that were as deeply pigmented as the blades of grass in which they were laying. His ebony black hair shone under the growing glow of sunlight and his eyes sparkled with a wicked knowledge and something else, something far more powerful; love.
“My dear Fahlyn. I have you now,” he spoke in deep tones, voice lush and yet a hidden malice few could detect underlay those words. “You are mine, and nothing can take you away from me, not now, not ever,” he continued whilst sitting up, also propping himself onto an elbow whilst reaching out with his free hand to stroke a stray ringlet from her pallid face, and in response she recoiled slightly, though almost reluctantly she was horrified to find.
“Blæc? You cannot take me, you cannot be here. You are…I am not like you. This is not possible,” she spoke in sheer confusion, averting her once proud hazel eyes away from his over powering green stare. And then, finding something within her soul was missing, fearful hues flashed up and bore deep into his. “What have you done to me?”
Is smile was that of iniquity, of malice and true dominance. The love that he had showed was still truly evident within his exterior expressions and movements, yet the doorway to his mind was open wide and the mess of emotions had spilt out for her to see.
“The fox has replaced my soul within purgatory Fahlyn, so now you and I can live forever together in love. No fate and no haunting of the damned can ever tear us apart. Experience now My Love, the life you have condemned so many to,” Blæc grinned broadly, getting up onto his feet and holding out his hand for her to hold. Unwillingly yet dutifully she accepted his help as he pulled her up and she weakly sunk into his muscular arms. A smile tickled her lips as silent tears began to leak uncontrollably from her now dull and lifeless eyes.
“You may have control over my actions and life Blæc, but as long as my mind continues to remember what was once mine, then I will never be truly yours,” she whispered softly into his ear, the horror and fury barely even readable in her voice as he lead her on, supporting her trembling and weak form.
In response he merely chuckled lightly, hiding away his cruelness and locking up the doors to his mind once more. Instead of speaking, he merely kissed her delicately on the forehead and swept her up into his powerful arms and continued forth, leading her back into a world she was soon to forget.
