A Visitor
Moon had just woken up to find that Rusty had gone. She wanted to go look for him, but she had to stay in the den with Wolven and Dagger. Moon licked the red fur on Wolven's head, then the metallic gray fur on Dagger's head.
"Your name fits you, Dagger!" Moon barked in alarm as Dagger bit her sharply with his tiny white teeth.
Just then, Oak poked her head around the cave entrance. Oak was a brown wolf with streaks of gray with age. She was blind, which made her very wise. "Moon?" she rasped in a husky voice.
"Hello Oak!" explained Moon in a greeting, her tail wagging, "Did Kodan send you to look at the pups?"
Oak strolled into the cave, before she shook her head sadly, looking blankly at Moon, "Mist said that I should take a look at them. She said Rusty told her something that was disturbing, but I'm sure that Kodan won't mind. You know that Kodan always says that I have to look at the pups first."
Moon cocked her head, her ears perked up, her face fluffed. She barked with confusion, "Rusty told Mist something disturbing about the pups?"
"That is what Mist says," Oak barked, walking unsteadily over to Moon and her two pups. "Now let me see your pups." Oak sniffed each of the pups head's. She snarled quietly to herself when she sniffed Wolven.
"Is something wrong?" barked Moon with concern. Her head was still cocked. Her blue eyes grew wide with perplexity.
Oak barked fastly to reassure Moon, "No. No, it is fine." She looked at Wolven, her white eyes clouded with unknowing. "What are these weird scribbles on this one's fur?" Oak pointed with her nose to Wolven as she said this.
"I don't know," admitted Moon, "By the way, his name is Wolven. And the one that is all white with metallic gray fur on his head's name is Dagger."
"Dagger," Oak mumbled staring at the stone wall behind Moon's head, "He will be fine. His tail is a bit too long, but he will be fine. As for Wolven, he will probably have trouble making friend with the other pups his age. The scribbles on his fur will make look eerie to the other pups. Maybe, just maybe, the scribbles will disappear when he gets older, but I would not count on it. "
"Thank you, Oak," whispered Moon, dipping her head to say good- bye, "Good- bye!" Oak dipped her head too, and nodded. She turned to leave and mumbled very quietly to herself, but Moon heard her,
"Mist was right. It is happening!"
Moon turned her head to look at the stone wall that Oak was just staring at, but she saw nothing. She looked down at Wolven; his symbols were black on his white fur. Then Wolven's symbols flashed red, then black again, and then they turned back to red, and stayed. Moon cocked her head again, bewildered that her son's fur had just changed its color.

The Demons
Two months later……
Mostly all the wolves in Dagger and Wolven's pack gave them a new name: The Demons.
It had been two months since Dagger and Wolven were born. Dagger's tail was still too long, his claws were still too long; his teeth were too long; his paw was still crooked; and he only had one ear. Wolven's symbols were still there and he still had long claws.
When their eyes opened at two weeks old, Moon and Rusty discovered that Dagger's right eye was gone. In place of it was a very scruffy metallic gray patch of fur. One of Wolven's eyes was a pitch black and the other was a blood red.
Rusty was convinced that Stone bite Dagger's eyes out because Dagger always complained that it itched and hurt and because Stone hates Rusty and Rusty hates Stone. But, of course, Stone would not tell the truth about his own actions.
The other wolves in the pack that liked Dagger and did not call him Demon, and still don't, are Dagger's mother, Moon, Rusty, his father, Mist, his mother's friend, Wolven, his brother, Fisco, Dagger's friend, and Owl, who is the only female wolf pup that even looks at him, let alone talk to him. The only wolves in the pack that liked Wolven were Moon, his mother, Rusty, his father, and Dagger, his brother. Owl and Fisco ether pretended that Wolven was not alive or they would say mean expressions to his to make him feel a mixture of sadness and anger.
Dagger lay asleep in the den that he and the other wolf pups his age slept in. Wolven was among them. He was sleeping next to Dagger. All of the other wolves in the pack were sleeping soundlessly, but Dagger was not. His nose, paws, ears, and tail kept on twitching from a nightmare that Dagger was dreaming.
"Dagger! Dagger! Wake up! Wake up, Dagger!" growled a wolf puppy with a mixture of gold, black, brown, red, and white fur, her paws knitting the floor of the den.
"Dagger doesn't wake up for anything, Owl!" snapped a pitch black wolf puppy that lay on the other side of Dagger, yawning.
"Dagger! Dagger! Oh, come on Dagger!" Owl snapped, and she bit Dagger on his left ear, "DAGGER!"
"He is not going to wake up!" growled the black wolf pup, shaking his head slowly and grinning.
"OH, SHUT UP!" she howled as she turned to face the other wolf pup, showing her small, white, canine teeth to him, angrily.
"Oh, I'm really afraid Owl!" the black wolf pup barked sarcastically. Then he shook his head, saying solemnly, "But, he does not wake up for ANYTHING!"
"Oh, we'll see," she whispered. She knelt down on the floor of the dusty den and licked Dagger's white face with her long wet, sticky tongue.
Dagger jumped up in alarm. He swiped his paw over his face; and shook his head from side to side. "Ew, gross Owl!" he snapped angrily. He jumped over to her and gave her a big, long, wet, lick on her golden face.
"Stop, Dagger!" she yelled at, grinning, then she snapped seriously, "STOP!"
Obediently, Dagger stopped licking Owl's golden face. "Sorry," he mumbled through his large teeth.
Owl barked excitedly, "It is okay, Dagger. Fisco and I came to wake you because your brother, Wolven," she spat his name out like it was a dieses," told us that he wanted us to tell you the important news!" she paused, "There is other wolves, in own camp, that say they have something important to tell the pack!"
"Wolven lies all the time. Why do I have to go, anyway? I'm probably not even welcome to come," he mumbled, looking down at his paws in sadness.
"Of course you can come, Dagger! Kodan says that everyone in the pack is aloud to come…, which means you can come too!" howled Fisco, the black wolf, in delight before they padded over to the den.

Meeting
When, Owl, Dagger, and Fisco exited the den, they saw two adult wolves and two baby wolf pups. Kodan, a silver wolf who is the pack's leader, sat next to the small pack of wolves. The whole pack was surrounding Kodan and the small pack of wolves.
"Attention! Attention!" howled Kodan over the loud barking of the other wolves in his pack. When everyone was quiet, Kodan barked, "Give the wolves in the center your full attention. They have important news to tell us!"
By now Owl, Dagger, and Fisco had almost reached the middle of the crowd. When, Dagger got close to the wolves in their pack, they snapped, "Ew, one of the Demons! Move so his ugliness does not rub of on you!" or "A Demon! Get away!"
When Owl heard the other wolves in their pack whispering about Dagger, she whisked around and snarled, "STOP CALLING HIM DEMON OR ONE OF THE DEMONS! HIS NAME IS DAGGER! DAGGER!"
"It is okay, Owl. I really don't mind," Dagger whispered to her, as he licked her white muzzle.
"Ew, look Demon's got a mate!" snapped a white wolf pup about the size of Dagger, Fisco, and Owl, who was standing behind them.
"STUT UP!" Owl snapped as she spun around to clamp her jaws around the other wolf pup's muzzle.
"Owl, Snow, give the wolves in the center your full attention, please!" howled Kodan angrily above the noise in the crowd of wolves.
The white wolf shrank low to the ground and put his paws over his nose.
"Yeah, Ow-l-a!" snarled a black wolf pup that had just came up to stand beside Snow, his eyes narrowing.
Owl turned to look at the wolves in the center.
"Finally, Ow-l-a listens to someone!" snarled the black wolf pup furiously. He threw back his head and laughed. The black wolf's laugh sounded like he was coughing up a fur ball.
Owl snarled warningly. She turned to Dagger to growl madly, "Come on. Let's go!"
The black wolf pup growled sweetly, in a mimicking tone, "Aw! She is going to listen to her dear old dad."
Owl stopped mid walk and turned to face the wolf pup that had just insulted her. Then she swiped a golden paw over the black wolf pup's face. "SHUT UP DARKNESS!"
Darkness, the wolf, fell to the ground with a soft thud. Glaring at Owl he scrambled up and headed to the rim of the crowd.
Snow, who was still lying on the ground with his paws over his muzzle, stood up and glared at Owl, too. Owl had broken through Snow's skin when she had bitten him. Blood was spread all over Snow's muzzle, making it look like Snow had just eaten.
Pawing the ground, Owl snapped angrily in Snow face, "Do you want to fight Snow?"
"You hurt my friend and me! You deserve to be punished!" snarled Snow, drawing his black lips back to revel his sharp puppy- like teeth.
As Owl was about to pounce swiftly on Snow, Dagger barked, "No! It's alright Owl, really! Just ignore him!"
"Yeah, Owl, come on!" barked Fisco to Owl, his tail drooping as to show their defeat.
"Dagger and Fisco do have a point!" announced a voice. Wolven appeared behind Dagger. With Owl, Snow, Fisco, and Dagger starring at him, Wolven felt a glow of pride. Blood red fur stood up in the air on the top of his head and ran down his spine. His one red eye and one black were starring into nothingness, which told them that Wolven was blind. His long tail swooshed back and forth, telling them that he was irritated about something. His long claws clicked loudly on the ground as he was kneading it. The symbols on his fur were red then they flashed black when he saw Owl glaring at him.
"Shut up, Wolven!" snapped Owl, meanly, "This is none of your business!" She turned back to Snow and growled deeply.
"Yeah, Owl come on!" mimicked Snow sharply.
"That’s it!" snarled Owl. She leaped at Snow, biting and snarling loudly. She and Snow looked like an oversized ball of fur. Scrapes of gold and white fur went flying through the air.
"Owl, Snow, come and sit by me please!" shouted an irritated Kodan, stopping their fight.
All of the wolves in the pack including the wolves in the center of the clearing were watching their fight. "Our guests would like to begin!" howled Kodan meanly. Owl and Snow fell apart instantly at the sound of their leader's command.
"Told you," whispered Dagger softly, before Owl weaved her way inbetween the other wolves to sit by Kodan.
"SHUT UP, DAGGER!" snapped Owl, drawing back her lips to show her teeth.
Confused by Owl's reaction, Dagger flinched, and slunk away to the back of the crowd.
When Owl and Snow reached Kodan, and sat down, Owl sighed.
"That’s what you get for fighting!" barked Snow in a mimicking tone, grinning.
Owl was about to say "shut up" when Kodan barked, "Now you may tell the pack the important information, wolves."
A large smoky black adult male wolf that had been the center of the gorge stepped forward and roared in an apprehensive voice, "Man is invading the forest!"
