The young wolf trotted up to its mother. It's mother grinned and licked the pups nose. The pup yipped happily as its mother called her by her nickname "Sandhya" which meant dark, dusk or in this case 'Shadow'. Shadow wagged her fluffy black tail and started getting closer to her mother but the cub seeemed to be getting farther and farther with each step. She whined and went faster, then she awoke whimpering. She was alone under a pine tree, her legs layed flat out on her side, stretched out. She lay there whimpering for a few minutes then Shadow stretched her legs, and tried to pull herself up, hard at once, but ended up on her side again. She slowly got up and yawned squinting her golden eyes in the bright sun as she came out of the shade of her tree. Her black shiny coat glowed in the sunlight.
She walked over to the small narrow stream and put her front paws in and looked at her reflection. She pawed her reflection playfully and yipped. Shadow's stomach growled and she whined as she remembered she had not ate in days. The varg waded to the other side of the stream to the hunting territories and broke into a fast run searching for the sent of a lera. After quite awhile she was bout to give up, then she caught the scent of a black-tailed deer. She smelled the fresh scent to see the lera's health. It was weak but a large buck. She ran to the scent, then watched it graze while she hid in the shadows. When it got close enough her muscles buckled getting ready for the spring. She pounced landing on its rump. She sunk her teeth deep onto the lera's leg. While it jumped in pain she took the advantage. She lunged for the throat quickly snapping the neck, and the life out of the deer. She stared at the lifeless lera for a moment proud of herself from her hunt. She ate quickly. There was not much left of the carrcas when she was done. Belly full, she trotted to the stream and waded into the water and started lapping up the water. She walked to the other side and walked to her tree and layed down
She took a nap in the sun for an hour. Shadow's black, fluffy coat shining in the evening sun bristled in the warmth.
When she awoke she was full of energy. She ran full speed to the grassy plain. She ran all in the tall grasses stirring up rabbits, field mice, and birds. She pounced on a rabbit for the fun of it then let it go. She played there for the rest of the evening.
The she-wolf sat in a small clearing of the grass. When the moon (or Tor the wolf goddess as the vargs believed) was fully out. She howled to the moon. Then she trotted back to her tree. As she walked back she fought to not fall over and pass out from exaustion. The she-wolf's coat shining in the light of the moon. She made it to her tree where she fell down and slept. She curled into a ball, paws crossed with her head rested on them, she pulled in her back legs then curled her body, with her head and front paws tucked in after that. Then lightly curved her fluffy, black tail in front of that.
She slept for the next day to come. . . .
