A warm smile crossed his face as she dug into the rabbit. Finally, she would be getting some skin on those bones! He didn't know how much of the conversation he had missed while he was out hunting, so he too was eager to here the name of the she-wolf before him. Scarlet, eh? For some reason this femme seemed to feel like she owed something to he and Dakota, when he was sure any Varg would have done the same for her. He wondered what had happened to her to make her so timid.
Hearing Dakota's stomach growl reminded him of the sharp pangs of hunger within his own. The taste of blood was still on his tongue from that rabbit he gave up...It was driving him mad. He was surprised he hadn't succumbed to the blood lust before these two.
"Pretty name" he finally said with his kind smile stretched over his handsome face. Turning his attention to Dakota, his features lit up at the mention of food. "Go ahead, I'll stay here. It'd be great if you could pick something up for me too! But, don't make it an obligation. I can always go out later." Looking once again to Scarlet, he waited to hear her thoughts on the kill he had made.
((My god..the lameness!! *dies*))

Both varg seemed happy enough with her name, and presence. She wondered why they were so kind to her. She offered them nothing, but yet they had provided her with a meal. She could not help but go back to that face she had saw...so much like her own.
Scarlet then notcied that her gracious new friends appeared to be very hungry themselves. How selfish of her! "Dakota you should go ahead and get a meal for you and Kai." the she wolf replied. No need for them to turn into walking bones such as herself. These varg had given her hope to live. If she even deserved it. How can I doubt myself like this? she thought. I don't even remember what happend.
Suddenly the feeling of sleepiness overcame her and she let a rather large yawn escape her sleek muzzle. She had not slept in several moons. Normally she just continued walking with no real goal in mind. "I would like to be able to trust you and tell you more but, I might need to get some sleep first." She said to Dakota and Kai. She really did hope she could trust them. (Sorry it was short! I could not think of anything to say.)

Nodding his blocky head Dakota turned and slunk off into the underbrush. Stepping quickly and quietly Dakota let his sleek legs carry him over the hard ground. As he moved streams of sunlight peaked through the forest's canopy and flashed brightly on his ebony coat. Sighing heavily to himself the mann-varg's thoughts started to get the better of him. What use would he be at hunting? Sure his leg had healed a bit...but it still hurt to really run and he hadn't seen any 'small' prey for some time now.
Walking a few more feet the young male finally reached a small clearing. Heaven on earth it seemed. The grass was cool and lush, each blade sparkling with morning due. The sky seemed clearer too...the horizon was painted a pale blue and small fluffy clouds floated across it, streaking the perfect back round. Taking a few cautious steps forward Dakota's bright green eyes finally locked onto what they were looking for.
Grazing pleasantly in the middle of the clearing was a small herd of deer. Each herla still showed signs of shedding out their winter coat...but their thick muscles shown underneath...leaving little room in Dakota's mind about how much power they possessed. It was then that he noticed a small newborn fawn laying a few feet from it mother. The herla that had borne it stood grazing with the others, its back turned to the new baby. Taking swift stride Dakota rushed in to grab the new baby...but he wasn't quite enough. Whipping around the mother herla charged at Dakota's thin form, throwing her head in the air and dangerously clawing the air with her knife like hooves. Knowing there was no chance he could take on a grown Herla by himself , let alone in a somewhat injured state Dakota shamefully turned tail and ran as fast as his legs could carry him back to the cover of the trees. Their darkness surrounded him..letting his ebony pelt melt into their essance...he disappeared, becoming only 2 emerald eyes glinting in their shadows.
Sighing again to himself Dakota opened his mouth and let out a loud mournful howl. Turning away from the small heaven he walked back the way he had come until sighting a cool shady spot under a particularly wide branching tree. Settling himself on the ground under it Dakota rested and before he knew it had nodded off into a somewhat restless sleep.

He smiled warmly at the petite femme, an expression that told her not to worry. "You can trust us, but you're right. Some rest would probably do you good first." As Dakota crept off, he trusted him fully in providing a meal for the both of them. However, if he was unable to catch something for him, he wouldn't hold a grudge. Afterall, his leg was still healing and Dakota didn't have to prove anything to Kai. Letting his body sink down, he stretched his ebon legs out and lay next to Scarlet. There were many things he wanted to ask her, to learn about her, but he held back for the time being. He and Dakota had been in the forest together so long, it was hard to believe that any other Varg existed.
The forest was relatively quiet, only the occassional buzzing of an insect or song of a lonely bird filled the air. Kai was becoming bored quickly, as sitting still was not part of his ctive lifestyle. In truth, he would have loved to go with Dakota to find something to eat, but they had Scarlet to watch after. It would all be worth it if a friend was the end result, and he had a feeling that Scarlet was having the same thoughts.
Piercing the silence was a howl filled with agony and sadness. Recognizing it as Dakota's, Kai started immediately and was on his feet, rushing into the forest. It wasn't until a few steps that he turned back and looked to Scarlet, remembering her presence and how he couldn't just leave her. Hoping she wasn't asleep, he spoke to her. "Scarlet...That was Dakota. It sounds like he may be in trouble. Do you have enough strength to come with me?" He hoped that she would find the energy to tag along, for he didn't know what kind of trouble his friend had gotten himself into this time.

Scarlet was feeling better now that she had someone to look after her. It was a huge relief to have friends to share her problems with. When Dakota got back she planned to tell him and Kai about her amnesia. Fatigue soon got the better of the young varg as she drifted off into sleep. As did happen some nights her sleep was followed by a dream that seemed oh so real.
"Today is a very proud day for your mother and I, for today is you and your sisters first hunt." said a strong male varg. He had a deep gray coat mixed in with silvers that highlighted his muscular body. His rather long muzzle was curved into a smile.
"Scarlet, Crystal I just know you two are going to take to this right away because you already work so well as a team, and that is the key to hunting." replied a beautiful female whose pelt was very similar to Scarlets, besides the fact that the red did not stand out as much. Her bright blue orbs were filled with excitement.
"It's about time we let them explore a little." came a sarcastic remark, "They are getting far to big just to sit around with me all day." A slender black sikla out of the den. Her hazel eyes also filled with joy for the fact that her packs pups that she had been babysitting since birth were finally old enough to go on their first hunt.
"Don't worry you guys! Scarlet and I won't let you down." said an excited Crystal. Her pelt was almost identical to her fathers. She stared at her sister anxiously, this is one of the most memorable moments in a young cubs life.
"Well? What are we waiting for? Lets go!" Yipped Scarlet. "Indeed." Said the their father as a small chuckle escaped his muzzle. He lead his family one by one down the path next to the den.
Scarlet was gently awoken from her dream by the sound of Kai's voice and a low howl in the distance. Dakota was in trouble? She willed herself to get up from her strange dream. "Let's go, theres no time to lose1" she replied to Kai in one of the most happiest voices that she had heard herself in, in a long time. Something did trouble her as she began walking in the direction of Dakota's howl, the name she had heard. Crystal. Her sister... (There is a little nibble of Scarlets past, just so you get to know her family.)

Stirring restlessly in the soft light Dakota continued his soft slumber. In his mind cloudy thoughts twisted and mingled with parts of various dreams...all familiar moments that he had carried with him his entire life. At one moment he was reliving the death of his family and then the next second he was experiancing the emense joy that had filled the air during his first run with Kai...and then back to terrior when they had almost fallen in the river while jumping across the rocks. Shuddering in his sleep the ebony male's chest started to rise in fall faster now as his breathing increased. Slowly the dreams became more vivid until at last he awoke with a jolt and sat straight up. Panting lightly Dakota blinked his emerald eyes and tryed to remember just exactly why he was laying here in the first place. "Where are Kai and Scarlett?", he asked quitely to himself. Lifting his heavy head into the air Dakota pointed his sleek muzzle up twards the heavens and tryed to smell his friend near by, when nothing came he gave a deep sigh and finaly rolled onto his feet.
Sniffing the air once more he shook his head and whispered "That Kai...he is probaly trying to impress Scarlett by taking her on a tour of the lands..." Setting off at a smooth steady gait Dakota proceded to search for his friends totally unaware of their own heated search to locate him.
OMG, I am so sorry for this crappy post. I seem to have misplaced my muse....if you see him lurking about please let him know that I have been looking and am not pleased with his absence. -_-

He was glad that Scarlet understood the urgency of the situation. Despite the fact that they had just met her, it was apparent that she already cared for the two ebon Varg, if not but a little. With a nod in Scarlet's direction that told her to follow him, he was off as fast as his onyx legs would carry him, rushing towards the direction the pained howl seemed to originate from.
It was no use. Images flooded his mind of what could be happening right now. What was happening to Dakota? A bear attack? Some horrible turn of events during the hunt? His mind flashed back to that day they had raced through the forest. So young, so naive...
The wind felt so good rushing over his streamlined body as he raced on, determined to leave his ebon-pelted friend in the dust.
Looking to his side, he found his friend was no longer there.
Skidding to a stop, he looked around, but found no signs of Dakota. He had been right there, beside him! his mind flooded with worry as he ran over his options. Search for him, and risk heading in a wrong direction? Finally, he lifted his head in a mournful howl, hoping his friend would hear and come running back.
Shaking his head of the painful memory, an idea dawned on him. If it had worked before, it could work again. Lifting his head to the heavens, his maw parted and released a song very similar to the one used the day Dakota had gotten lost in the forest. In his voice, his worry was revealed along with the hope that Dakota would follow his vocals or shout back a song of his own. Breathing deeply, his auds perked forward and he waited.

(Thank you Dakota for FINALLY updating!!)
Scarlet soundlessly followed Kai into the forest pushing herself to keep up with him. He was oviously distrat. She didn't know that much about Dakota, so that howl must have meant that something horrible happend. She took another glance in Kai's direction and studied his face. He seemed to be in deep thought, probably worrying about his friend. She really hoped her new friend was alright. Scarlet didn't want to lose him after just meeting him.
She then began to notice how good it felt to have the wind rush threw her fur. Often times when she had been on her own she would run out of fear or confusion, but running along next to Kai she felt safe. Scarlet sniffed the air and let her nose take in all of the wonderes scents of her new home. She had noticed that Fenris was beginning to melt away the snow, a sign that it was turning into Spring.
Her mind began to drift back to her dream. That had been her family! She felt so close to them and when she woke up it was like having them yanked away. Scarlet had had dreams of them before, but not as clear as this one. She felt expecially drawn to her sister, Crystal. Our bond must have been deep, Scarlet thought.
Scarlet's attention snapped back to Kai as she saw his expersion change, he had an idea. He lifted his strong ebony head to the sky and let out one of the most mournful howls Scarlet had ever heard. That howl stirred something in Scarlets brain as her head went dizzy, she stumbled around a little bit as a picture filled her orbs.
Sitting at the base of a mountain was a young fae that Scarlet regonized as herself. Before her eyes was a forest raging with fire. "No this can't be happening. Mom? Dad? Kita? No! No! No! CRYSTAL!" The young varg was desperatly screaming, but to no avail, the forest just continued to blaze. She lifted her head into a slow mournful howl, similar to the one Kai had just let out. She stoped and pirked up her long ears. Calapsing to the ground she fell in to a depressed blob saying one thing: Why?
Scarlet woke from her vision with a start realizing she was on the ground next to Kai. Never had she seen anything like this about her past. She let out a small whimper and said ever so quietly, "Why?"

[Hehe, Scar you must be flaming mad. I just realized this reply is practically a month behind] Lifting his broad head high into the air Dakota froze in mid step. Tipping his dark ears forward the ebony varg tried to catch any sounds traveling through the air. Just moments before he thought he had caught something...but now he wasn't quite sure. Deciding to investigate the male took a few steps in the direction he though the sound had come from. Keeping his emerald eyes open for any sign of prey that would provide a quick meal Dakota moved ever closer in the direction of the sound. Picking up a little speed now Dakota pushed through the thick bush only yo find himself face to face with Kai and Scarlet. "There you are!", he exclaimed happily. "I've been wondering where the two of you got off too." Grinning broadly Dakota stared at his two companions as if nothing had ever happened. [ No is that not the worst post ever]
