Dying Days (Deor and Friends)

Raikan layed on his back, dozing on and off as his brother padded in circles around him. The pup right now was exhausted and wanted to be left alone by his brother who was constantly complaining about boredom being kept inside the den. "Sure...sure...course I'm listening" said Rai sleepily. Ears perked up instantly as he heard his brother declare that he himself bored and heading out to explore. Spinning around on his back and getting awkwardly on all fours he called to his brother, "Hey, wait!! If you're going to have some fun bring me along.." Following his brother and left the den.

The cold air greeted him and the pup shivered but the thrill of exploring kept his mind off the cold weather. "Mom's gonna kill us if she finds out, but she couldn't expect us to hang around the den all day did she?" Rai muttered to himself. "We won't get in trouble anyway if we return before she comes back" Rai knew that his mother had probably went out to hunt or perform scouting duties. His father's whereabouts was unknown, but his question was soon answered as he saw a large amber form moving quickly and stealthily. The pup's curiousity increased and wondered where his father was going. Catching up to Zen he gave a sharp bark and quickly went over and attempted to nip him in the ears. "Where do you suppose dad's going?" questioned Rai. Deciding to answer his own question Zen and him carefully stalked his father and wondering when the fun will begin.

So then the two pups followed their father, moving their tiny paws quickly. Most of the time he could hardly keep up with Draeg and felt his weary paw putting prints on the snow. Feeling a bit tired after not having his nap then having to stalk his father, Rai decided to talk a rest then letting his brother go on. "Alright Zen, you can go on I'll take a small rest then follow you after." barked Rai. Slowly the amber pup layed himself down into the snow sniffing energetically and the things around him. Moments later he decided that it was a bit boring and that he had have enough rest.

Very soon without the pup's knowledge he had entered another pack's territory. But very soon as he found the place very familiar, this was the place where he was born. In the distance he caught a small glimpse of something amber and he barked excited wanting to catch up with his brother. Seeing that was catching his brother's attention it was a pack of wolves. The only ones that he knew was Chalos and BT. Chalos who was the Dragga and BT who was the nurse recognizing them both for their kindness. Rai yelped in surprise as moved just to find his brother dashing into the clearing consisting of wolves. Tripping over his own feet Zen went flying in a whirl amber landing in front of Draeg's feet. Breaking out into laughter, Rai ran directly through the group of wolves to his brother without have the thought on what trouble he would be in if Draeg found out he was here. "Hahaha...wow, Zen, are you alright? That was quite a tumble you just toke." Turning around and staring at the rest of the group, "Hi BT, Hi Chalos."

“Raikan, it’s good to see you.” BT murmured to the young cub. “But like I told you brother… you should be with your mother. She’s going to be worried sick about you two.” She wrinkled her nose slightly, but smiled and gave the pups a wink. She then looked to Chalos. “I shall share with you my past.” And it was there where she began to weave the tale that she’d experienced so many times in her sleep.

“She was a small pup. Though silver now, back then she was mostly black, and she was the runt of the family. Her brothers and sisters would bit her or scratch her whenever they got the chance, and her parents would have nothing to do with her. This pup’s original name was Reihiko, after her presumed dead aunt.
The pups grew, and Reihiko became nothing more than a thrall. Well, more like a tool for sharpening your teeth and claws, and matters got worth after her eyes had opened. They’re glassy silver color made her whole pack believe her to be blind. Trouble is she wasn’t. Meager chores were forced upon her, like fetching food, or chasing out wild cats.
But she became more and more determined to leave. But with each futile attempt to escape, it brought her painful punishment. Still, even through all this, she always found something to smile about, a glimmer of hope in her dark, and sorrowful times. As our young pup grew, so did her desires of freedom. Her siblings and herself were all old enough to leave the pack lands. Reihiko knew that she would not be allowed to leave until she would breathe her very last breath, so she formulated a plan.
Her plan was revenge, and with this revenge would come a new name. She decided that she would, from that day forth, be called Bent Time. And none were the wiser…”

BT paused to catch her breath. This tale was taking a lot out of her, she prayed to Tor and to Fenris that she would finish it in time. Glancing around the circle of friends and family she shifted her weight and continued with the grim story of her forgotten life.

It was a chilly autumn day, when the bulky father stepped out of the den with a large yawn. And it was to his misfortune, that the now lean and experienced fighter BT, ambushed the Dragga, and tore out his throat without making any sound. The Drappa was next, being heavy with pups that would be born soon she was weighted down and an easy target.
Bent Time was lost to the blood lust by now, and I can barely remember slipping into the den and killing my two brothers and sister. I can hardly remember running away from there with a glint of evil in my eyes, and satisfied smiled upon my bloodied jaws. But I escaped past horrors, and I became the wolf you know now.”

She drew herself out of the story, a vacant and glassy look in her eyes, her voice was no more than a whisper. “So now…, Now you all know of what I have done… I wonder if I had told you this before… w-would you have welcomed me so easily into your lives?… My sins I have tried to repent… but they have caught up with me… and now… the last of my line is to die today.” she smiled, and laid her head upon her paws, straining her last seconds to hear their answers. She was fading fast, but holding enough life to at least hear what her Dragga would say. She needed to know if she could be forgiven for what she’d done.


Fading fast she gazed up at Chalos. Her eyes glazing over to a glassy white, darkness brimming her sight, and now plauging her existance. She took in a deep breath. But it was her last taste of the air of the living, as BT then released the feared, rattling exhale that was known forever and forever again as death's kiss. Her spirit departed, as she was called to the sun. And soon she was left to run with Tor and Fenris. To learn from Zostar, and forever be a memory of her friends.

However, BT did regret one thing. She never learned if her friends and family could've forgiven her.

[Chalos Autumn]

Not an ounce of attention was paid to the other varg in the area - those who had trespassed in order to visit BT would be excused and offered to spend a day or two with Deor to rest. However, he didn't even know whether or not any non-Deor wolves had come, for all of his attention was focused solely upon the old storyteller, ears perked and listening intently, eyes of emerald almost non-blinking. Even his body remained still, sitting erect and dominant to show his position, though it was now only in his nature as a Dragga to do so.

Her tale was a sad one, full of deceit, betrayal, even murder. To think of such a gentle, kindly-spoken femme doing such things made Chalos cringe, but not a hint of anger was sent towards her; instead, his heart ached for her, wishing that she could have lived a more joyous childhood, that such horrid memories could have been forgotten. She deserved not the treatment she was given as a youngling, and under circumstances the large alpha would have agreed that her retaliation against her pack was fair.. Though destruction of kindred had always - and would always, for that matter - be frowned upon, and he could find no way to beg the gods, to tell them that it wasn't her fault. In truth, it wasn't, but at the same time, it was - she chose to destroy her kind, no matter what emotional burden she was carrying.

Finally, it was time for her last movement, her last breath.. And Chalos looked down upon the dying nurse, their eyes met, and as quickly as they had locked their gaze, the soul left from its host's body. BT was gone. The Dragga paused, as if in a state of shock, before lowering his head and licking the respected she-varg lovingly upon the muzzle, speaking quietly to her, "And you shall be forgiven, Bent Time, most beloved of Deor varg." It was then that the realisation struck him - he loved this femme. There was no other way to explain it; the tugging on his heart whenever they spoke, the butterflies in his stomach whenever he looked at her.. His world seemed to come crashing down just as the words left his maw, "I shall always love you, BT.."

A sigh was given, eyes closed, and suddenly Chalos threw up his head, a bellowing howl booming from his throat and flying quickly into the still air, echoing all over the Deor packlands and further. The annoucement of death invited the others to join the sorrowful howl of sympathy, if only to honour the fallen nurse. The pack had suddenly been hit quite hard, and the Dragga had been left to lead his pack without BT's guidance, something the obsidian-and-rust male never believed would happen any time soon.. especially not as soon as this. Things would certainly be different within Deor now - if anything, the pack would be receiving much more demanding orders from their Dragga, for now, they had been left to man a war without the wise nurse's words, and it was high time the pack was put into order.
