Sunlight was filtering through the leaves of the small poplar tree that Running Star was resting under. Ever since her good friend Talar had left, Star had decided to wait on returning to her parents. She had felt so...empty without a playmate around. Running Star breathed in the cool morning air. With the air warming, other pups ought to be out, right? Oh, well, thought Star, if no one shows up by the end of the day, I guess I have no choice but to go home. So the young Varg waited, hoping that someone, anyone, would come to play with her, and soon.

<<Hope you don't mind me joining>>The day was warm, spring had sprung and the bitter chill of winter was gone finally though with spring came the annoying chirps of the birds waking up when the sun rose, they hopped from tree branch to budding tree branch singing their sweet songs. Much to the discontent of a little black ball of fur, she had been wide awake hours ago and was feeling restless as always, her bi-colored eyes glared up at the trees, silver tipped ear twitching in annoyance she wasn't a fan of the birds...never was. Aria snorted as she continued on her little journey, she still had bigger paws to grow into but she'd learned to walk gracefully on them, head high as she explored outside the packlands. The black she-whelp shook out her shiny coat, and wagged her fluffy tail as she looked around her, taking in the surroundings that she hardly knew, only knowing she was big enough now to explore these areas, granted she'd get scolded for venturing outside the packlands when she returned home. She smiled, tipping her head slightly, as a group of birds hopped around in front of her, maybe she could catch one of the annoying things...maybe.
Lowering herself she moved forward, ears tipped forward eyes watching them intently, then she bolted forward yipping at them. As the birds took flight she snapped her small muzzle at them most she ended up with were the feathers, flopping onto her rump she pouted, spitting out the tail feathers of some birds. She looked up at the trees, snorted and laid down, playing with bits of dirt, then spotted a bug crawling along the ground, getting up she stalked after it, tail up and nose to the ground she growled at it, when that didn't get it riled she started yipping at it, again it didn't do much but continue on its way down the path it had made. Growling Aria continued her chase, pawing at it seemed to make it move faster, thus she danced around it, smacking at it getting a good game out of this, now if only someone were around to take part in this game as well, the it would be real fun. A new scent caught her nose and she looked up to see another young varg in front of her, standing up, she wagged her tail wondering if it was a safe idea to venture near this new varg...or if it was a danger to her

Running Star tilted her head. This Varg pup was playing a game she vaguely remembered from her first days out of the den. Her eyes clouded as she lost herself to a flashback. Darkness was all Star had known for many days now. She was just about to fall asleep when her mother bent down and said to her, "You don't want to sleep now little one. Not when you've been waiting for this day to come." At first, Star was confused. Then, as she understood what her mother was talking about, excitment bubbled up in her and she wagged her tail. Her mother lead the way toward the front of the earthen den, toward that mysterious light she was told strictly to avoid. But by being told to stay, Star was even more drawn to it,constantly hounding her mother to take her out, and now the day had come. The young pup creeped forward, eager and nervous at the same time, to the den opening. That first step outside would change Star's life forever. A strange brightness blinded her, thousands of smells invaded her nose, and dozens of sounds pounded against her eardrums.
All of a sudden, Star came out of her trance and was aware of the other pup. A wolf smile came across her muzzle, her ears pricked, and her fluffy tail wagged. She stepped forward and said, "What's your name? I am Running Star." Then she sat back on her haunches and waited for her reply.

Aria figured this wolf was harmless, her ear twitched as she sat and watched the wolf in front of her go into a dazed expression. Her tail twitched a bit she too thought back to when she was playing with her siblings, she missed them...but now they were a rare sight, as were most of the Deorian vargs. She sighed gently looking at her silver dipped paws, the only real interaction she had was with the packs healer Jonas, though kind the varg was much too mature in mind to play pup games.
She was snapped back to attention when the pup spoke to her, Aria grinned lightly wagging her tail "Nice to meet you Running Star" she played with the name it being her first real encounter with a strange varg, and a kerl it seemed at that. "I'm Aria, daughter of my packs Drappa and the beta" a bit of pride slipped through her as she spoke about her parents, though some sadness reflected in her eyes for they too were rarely around. "It's nice to finally meet a new face" a small smile inched across her face "You are friendly right?" she tilted her head to the side slightly

Running Star chuckled to herself."Why yes,I am friendly." The tip of her fluffy tail twitched slightly, and she wondered if her parents would scold her for being away from home so long. No,she thought, once they see that fat mink I caught, they would be too busy congratulating me on my very first prey. Star focused her attention back on the Varg pup in front of her. As the day wore on,the air grew warmer and warmer. The first sprigs of green grass marked the coming of spring under Star's paws. To add to the peaceful atmosphere, a goldfinch began singing in a nearby tree. The clouds drifted across the sky lazily, seemingly enjoying the warm weather. Star thought about what Aria had said. "Well it's nice to meet you as well,Aria." Star replied. All of a sudden, a growling noise filled the air. Embarrased, Running Star smiled and apologised,"I'm sorry, I haven't eaten any real meals for some time now." What she didn't add was that her pride wouldn't let her eat the mink mother before she made her parents proud. Star shifted on the her paws, listening for signs of something as big as a rabbit or squirrel to eat. The day was already to old to think about hunting unless she got lucky. All of the animals would be in their burrows and dens, waiting for the cover of night to hide them. "Would you care to hunt with me atthe end of the day?"Ventured Star, unsure if this pup could stay out that late.
