It sure does seem like it.
What do you think we can do to wake up the activity around here? We've had another war thread, etc., but it seems like I've sat here and watched the activity steadily fall for at least the past three years.
I think it's about time for another wave of newbies, personally. Whenever a large group of newbs come here, it seems like the veterans bristle and come back to defend "their" website via RPing the hell out of it. >__> Some of you know what I'm talking about.

Not dying as such...just going through a sereve lack of activity.
I've not seen it this bad in a long time granted. It has gotten steadily worse since August.
We do need more n00bs, the rest of us veterans are getting older with a hell of a lot more things going on to take up our time now. I think that's the main problem tbh.

I wouldn't like to say that TS was dying, but merely being very inactive. It is a pity that people aren't more active, but, as you have both said, if a freshly baked batch of newbies come, then maybe people might want to be more active. We can only keep our fingers crossed. Anyway, hopefully TS will perk up a bit soon.

I agree with what Tor said. College, work, and other obligations sap a lot of time. I check in every other day or so, but rarely have time or energy to post. I did manage to get a post up in the war thread.. but that's back to being at a standstill, as is the rest of the site. I think it will pick up again once people overcome the laziness of summer and re-learn how to balance TS time with everyday things.
..Hopefully.

I don't think TS is dying at all. All points are correct, we do need a fresh flow of newbies through to buck up posts and keep threads alive.
Also, consider the time of year, most people will be busy readying themselves for school. People will slowly start coming back to this place but just give them time. Alot of poeple are loyal to this site and hopefully not abandon this place for too long. Lets just keep our fingers crossed!

While I agree with all the points here that have been made, I do think we need to do something other then sit and keep our fingers crossed that something better will come along. If you sit and wait for your destiny then your destiny may never come.
Has anyone really done any kind of advertising for TS lately? I mean, when I first joined (dear lord...back with the first TS in 2003) I had only struck luck when I heard about TS. Now if I lose the address for this site, I go into google and type in "Fiory Drappa of List" and I get a link two or three down the way that's the main home page (this was back when I didn't have it bookmarked, cause I'm a loser like that )
I've been roaming around the internet for a while now, and I've found a few RPG Collections sites that are active with people, that I think we should look into advertising on. In fact, I'm not going to ask permission to do so, I'm just going to do it. Hopefully with a little more advertisement towards this site, that new batch of newbs will flood on in, and the site will perk up not only in numbers, but in activity. ~*Fiory

I agree with Orian. I know I'm not a veteren or anything, but I've been here for my fair share and this place just seems... dead... I've started quite a few threads, and even in our war thread, we're all just waiting for replies. But something needs to be done, a new wave of newbies with some advertising and the like. Because all summer TS has been empty and just waiting for something to happen hasn't been working.

Just popping in real quick to say that I'm still alive and watching this place (don't always log in, but I do check) - I've just been super busy like everyone else. TS has done this before, I'm not really worried.
Though, I see no harm in going out and spreading the word. New members WOULD help liven things up...so yeah, have at it. Once my life settles down a bit more, I'll be back to posting more regularly.

I think advertising this site is a good idea. There are quite a few wolf role-playing sites around, and if you adveritse on those, then you can get the people interested in wolves to join. Has anybody advertised this site on: rpgcollection.proboards.com/index.cgi and if you want to, or did, then you need to add their mini-banner somewhere, otherwise they won't keep the advertisment.

Advertising is a good idea - I thought about it but wasn't sure where to start or where to go. Thank you Fiory for going ahead with it, I really appreciate the help!

Well, for better or worse, I decided to add TS to a furry wiki. The advertising is free for us, and it is guest friendly so all you oldies can edit my (many) mistakes. I didn't add everything I possibly could because that might scare newbies away. Here's the link if you want to look at it: en.wikifur.com/wiki/The_Sight_RPG... and just an FYI, I used Sudak's version of the map because it has all the in-game territories on it (like the Abandoned Settlement). Sudak, if you really hate me using it, by all means, go ahead and take it down. I don't want to use it if you don't want me to! Also, why don't we have a massive "TS Reread?" Basically, we all try to reread The Sight again, which might get our inspiration back up - considering that it was The Sight that got many of us inspired to come here in the first place. And instead of doing it individually, on our own time, why don't we sort of "assign" chapters or pages per week, so hopefully everyone will get finished at about the same time, and can maybe kick around a few new discussions (although speed readers are certainly free to read ahead ;D). Plus, for any of the youngsters who need a subject for an early book report, they'd get it. Just a thought. I'm not sure if anyone would really be interested, but I know I was skimming through the book again today (after so many years of it lying around), and I was really impressed by all the detail and passages I'd forgotten.

I wouldn't know what this place was like before I got on here but this place isn't that busy so I put maybe. People are hardly on here and some of the last posts on this forum are from early August which I thought was long time considering that there are a whole lot of people here.

Thanks Gratz! I actually like this re-read idea...even if people are busy, most peeps like to chill-ax with a book in the evening, and re-reading TS might actually spark a little motivation in them.
I've left my copy at home so at the moment I can't join in that...and at the moment it's a little late at night so I'm too tired to start something.
But I will certainly put it to the crowd and see who'd be interested in the idea ^^

I would personally enjoy seeing the site adopt a new look, but ya'll (being the staff members that I have formerly worked with here) have generally not agreed with that when I've offered before... /: But you know, part of the battle is looks of the site. If the site looks nice, a person will join, if it looks bad, most likely they will not. I don't know, it's not the worst looking site I'm just saying really that we've had the same thing for a REALLY long time... REALLY LONG... like it's been basically the same since version one. xD

I think what linnaea says is a good point. I mean, plain sites with a lame skin aren't going to attract people, but attractive skins will. It's the way people are. I have no problems with this skin as it is, but as Linnaea said, it's been the same for a while, and people like a bit of variety. Maybe you could make another skin that people could choose between this one and that one, then they would have their own choice. I know one site that had about five skins to choose from, which was interesting. Also, I agree about reading The Sight to get muse back up. Unfortunately, it's not in my library at the moment, but I'm reading other books that keep my muse up.
