This may seem like a silly question but I've been debating wether or not I should pick up the DCD's FireBringer and actually read it. Every time I go to the bookstore I stare at the book and read the description but I thought you would all know best. So is FireBringer worth reading? Does it even compare slightly to The Sight? Will I be disappointed? Are the deer as intricate characters? These are all questions I have running through my mind. If any of you could help me I would greatly appreciate any input but please don't post any spoilers. Thanks everyone!

So you're staring at a dark blue cover with a large stag, his crown of antlers and tines obscuring the cover. Fire Bringer, in bold yellow wriitng, sharply stands out. The description gives you a clueless feeling, but since it's by the author of The Sight, you wonder if you should give it a try.
Fire Bringer, to me, was almost better than The Sigt, and that's saying something. The main plot is cleverly lihnked with so many others. It's a tear-jerker yet little things make you laugh, and you cheer along with the characters' achievements. Each deer has a fantastic personality that is clearly suggested and the story is never a broing one. The main plot: when the lore is bruised and broken, shattered like a blasted tree, then shall Herne be justly woken, born to set the herla free. Which, after many stanzas, ends with ]i\Fawn of moonlight ever after, so shall all the herla sing...[/i] so on, so on, born a healer and a king. As you can see, I haven't *exactly memorized* the herla's lore, but, you get the just, perhaps. It's an amazing book, and if you took the time to read The Sight, the time should definetly be taken to read Fire Bringer... [/color]

Well you are quite convincing! *wink* Thanks for taking the time to give me some more information on the novel and perhaps I will read it. Let's see what a few of the other members think. Thanks though and I just wanted to say I think your characters look beautiful! (points to your signature)

Oh, yes. you most definetely should! As Cao said above, it has a very interesting storyline and was almost as good as TS. I think you would thoroughly enjoy it. I own both books, and just reading the book jacket of Firebringer sent chills down my spine. Very dynamic characters, you'll be up all night reasing it! Definetely check into it, and then post again and let us know what you thought^^

I suppose I'll have to go out and purchase it next time I'm near the bookstore. Unless anyone has some negative things they wish to tell me before then. Thanks for your opinions of the book!

I loved Firebringer, but there are some cons to the pros in it. It's very much like Watership Down and The Sight, just another animal messiah, though with deer instead of with lupines or lapines. The storyline is just a tad different, but it's basically the same thing - you'll also notice that Rannoch, Firebringer's main character, was spoken of in The Sight by the wolves, so clearly Rannoch happened before The Sight, although Sight wasn't mentioned in Firebringer.. so.. the entire mentioning sort of falls in on itself, seeing as Sight was an ancient ability and everyone had it, etc., etc. The deer should have spoken at least once of it. Ugh. [/rant]
Other than that, I give Firebringer an 8 out of 10, right up there with The Sight at 8.5 out of 10. But, then, I'm critical about my reading. I still say you should pick it up and give it a look-see!
Lydair stop being so descriptive for no reason -shoots- x:

Fire Bringer was acctually the first book I read...before The Sight I mean. I enjoy that book a lot. You should read it...it has everything a good story should have, action adventore, drama, romance, horror...everything!!!! Even an evil dictator. Hahaha! It's pretty similar in some areas to The Sight. You'll like it...and if you don't...well at least you took a chance...

Fire bringer is AWESOME! I'm not into deer that much, but man, it was a great book. If you loved the Sight, you'd sure like this one as well.
