The wind howled and screamed outside, hurling itself against the base of the huge tree Semmorra had found, where underneath she had found an old fox den. "surely the gods must be against me to have brought such a storm." she though bitterly. The rain began to pound furiously, here and there splashing upon her fur where the den had faded away.
Semmorra whimpered, how she longed more than ever now, to be with her pack once more, to hear her mothers' gentle voice, and her father whispering softly to her of the dark stories of the north. He'd once told her that the wind screamed because it was a She-wolf that had lost her entire family in one day, her new pups, her mate, everyone, she was completely alone. So bereft upon her grief, the she-wolf howled at the sky, the notes climbing higher and higher until the gods could stand no more, so they stole her voice.
So now, when ever a great sorrow had been done, the she-wolfs' voice would be returned to her so that she may weep for the living as well as for the dead. Semmorra put her head between her paws, somewhere inside, she knew how the she-wolf felt. A thunderous boom filled the night sky, flashing brilliant white inside the den, blinding her momentarily. How she hated storms, they frightened her, as another crash of lightning, seemimg to rumble just outside, she started slightly and growled nervously.
Semmorra shut her eyes tight and waited for the storm to end, dreaming of her old pack, the comforting smells of the rich earth, and warm dampness surrounding her, with the wind singing its woe upon the world outside...............
