The fiery colors of autumn had begun to fade, the trees once beautiful with rich color had become brown and bare. Gusts of frigid wind blew through the trees sending dead leaves in a whirlwind on the forest floor. Delicate paws covered the dying terrain, the chocolate and tan cub was exploring alone today. Only a few suns ago she was accepted into the pack and she was still learning the lands. On this day her “sister” Sorcha was off with her dad learning the ways of the healer. Mayta smiled as she thought of Sorcha, she was such a caring spirit, she was going to make a great healer one day, and she already was to the two tone fae.
Her golden orbs scanned the territory, trying to memorize where everything was. She had always been good at direction and now that she had grown from her chubby pup form she could usually get places fast once she knew where she was going. Mayta paused briefly and looked at herself, her once large paws were now small and delicate, and her ears now fit perfectly on her skull. Her tail was fluffy and long and matched her slender and sleek body. She was a small fae, but strong. Her muscles rippled under her two tone pelt as she ran. As she thought of running a smile came across her maw, it’s the one thing she truly loved in life. When she ran, she felt like one with the earth, excitement ran through her veins, she truly felt free and alive when the air ran through her fur. She chuckled for a moment and shook her head, her parents would never believe the fae she had become. “May the gods keep you safe until we meet again.” Mayta missed her parents, but one day they would meet again amongst the red flowers. Until then she had a family again and a place to call home.
Mayta shook her head back and forth, one thing is for certain, she still got distracted easily. Laughing at her self, she continued on her travels around the beautiful lands of Ge-Rad. Suddenly her auds perked, she heard something in the distance, something near the boarder of the pack lands, and she tilted her head back and forth puzzled because she had just come from there. Turning around she began to trot back that way, her eyes were squinted trying to see as far as she could; there in the distance she saw a blaze of ebon and ivory with a small patch of green on their shoulder. Mayta began to wag her tail and a smile came across her maw; it was Krystal Zanguzen the packs lead emissary and scout. Her golden orbs began to sparkle, it was if the emerald specks were stars dancing around with excitement; her trot broke into an all out run. As she ran, she lifter her muzzle to the sky and let out a friendly howl to call to the scout in hopes that she would pause long enough for Mayta to catch up to her; or even better, meet her half way. The two tone fae was intrigued by the ebon and ivory scout and she wanted to know more about her, for some reason she felt very comfortable with the fae, even though they had only met once before. The young fae began to ponder what it would be like to live the life of a scout…

The time of Wolfbane’s winter could be seen on the horizon, as darkening clouds signaled the oncoming event that was to befall upon the land of Ge-Rad. A cool gust of frigid air combed the landscape and brushed the grass blades as if they were body hair, reaching right down to the follicles and beyond. Ge-Rad hung in a state of limbo between autumn and winter, where the beauty of autumn churned in a caldron that also held the frigidness of a hostile winter. Leaves bathed in orange and red flavors danced the tango while governed by the movements of an ever changing wind. The trees were slowly but exponentially losing the very leaves that gave these elder sentinels their royal mystique. Many had all ready gone bare, reduced to nothing more than a skeleton of their former selves, powerless to protect the land of Ge-Rad in which harbored their naked remains. Yet life as they say goes on, and preparations needed to be made. It was only recently that the land of Ge-Rad now mothered a new litter of wolf cubs, the sons and daughters of Ayasha and Kaemon. But there was much concern for the safety of the cubs, and their survival chances to weather such a harsh season.
For the moment, the temperatures remained favorable, which was a much welcomed relief for a two toned Ge-Radian who had been taking the brunt of a very recent heat wave that had stricken the land. She stood on the edge of the borders, scoping out the open terra with bi-hued sapphire and emerald pools. Her gaze was met with the majesty of Ge-Rad’s open plains, each bristle of grass swaying gently in the brisk wind as if choreographed. The lead scout was on morning patrol once again now that the heat had gone down. Carefully Krystal studied the land for any sign of unusual activity. She understood that the pack was going through a very vulnerable stage, nursing a new born litter and facing the challenge of a Wolfbane’s winter that lay in wait. Fenris was kind on this day, his light gently lapping at the terra and varg of the region. Krystal’s pelt gave off a warm sheen to its soft texture, which revealed the emerald symbols of her Zanguzen heritage embroiled on her right shoulder and left hind hip. Such ties were inescapable, for the blood of her ancestry flowed through every artery, vein and capillary as water runs through a raging river.
Satisfied that this region is secure, Krystal turned her attention ahead. It was time to move to another region, and for this bi-hued Ge-Radian there was no better means of travel then running. Krystal was well known in the land of Ge-Rad for being quick on her paws; the former Zanguzen could traverse the terra faster than any other pack member. Her speed came as a result of a consistent and steady training regimen. Every morning the two toned Ge-Radian would be up with Fenris’ eye, covering as much ground as she could with volley after volley of sprints that would take the former Zanguzen from one corner of the region to the other. A strong heart and lungs, coupled with toned leg muscles honed in the craft of Zanguzen, assured that Krystal could endure with energy to spare. Body tensed, Krystal crouched slightly as blood began to rush into her limbs and fuel her legs for the trial that was to come. The conditions were just right; it was time to see if the lead scout could break her usual time in which it took to move from the southern region of Ge-Rad’s plains to the northern region. She could feel the energy building in her subconscious, limbs absorbing every bit until at last the tipping point was reached.
In an instant Krystal took off, kicking grass blades asunder on her initial push off before quickly reaching sprinters speed. The wind rushed and combed at her ebony and ivory pelt as each limp propelled the fae forward. Long strides assured maximum velocity as the lead scout powered her way across the open plains. She was in complete control, and having just snacked on two field mice several minutes before, Krystal had plenty of stored energy to burn. The former Zanguzen was making great time as she sped across the terra, the life of a scout in constant motion and constant training proved a healthy living style for an active fae. It was only when a howl broke the sound of streaking wind did Krystal finally slow down to an inevitable halt. Kaleidoscopic orbs of intrigue scanned, and ebon auds honed in like radar dishes. A chocolate and cream fae could be seen in the distance, and Krystal instantly recognized her as being Mayta, the newest member of Ge-Rad’s family. Krystal yipped in response, and with a smile on her maw, sped towards the oncoming fae who held a similar age to Sorcha. She stopped halfway and took a seat, tail swishing contently as she yipped again to the young chocolate and cream colored fae in encouragement.

She ran, ran as fast as she could, her claws gripping to the ground, kicking up dirt and dead leaves behind her. The wind blowing through her pelt, making each fur seem to come alive. Her strides were long making her able to cover lots of ground fast. In the distance she saw the ebon and ivory varg change her direction and start to come towards her, yipping and smiling. This brought a huge smile across Mayta’s face, Krystal was glad to see her too. She began to bark and growl excitedly, it was turning into a wonderful day.
As she got closer to the Ge-Radian scout she slowed her pace and then eventually came to a trot, there was no need to run into the fae and send them both flying backwards like she would have done when she was still a pup. When she came to a stop, she bowed her head respectively and then sat back on her haunches, “Hello Krystal, it’s a pleasure to see you again. How are you on this beautiful day that the gods have granted us?” She smiled and her long fluffy tail swayed behind her, she wanted to be closer to the fae, something was drawing her to Krystal; but she kept her composure and sat there patiently.
Mayta’s golden gaze kept slipping to the green crescent moon on the scout’s shoulder and brown fae wondered what it could mean. She had never seen such a symbol and marking before and it intrigued her. Forcing her gaze back to the kaleidoscope sapphire and emerald hues in front of her she smiled, “Krystal…” pausing not sure how to ask, “do you mind me asking...” Suddenly she decided to change her question, she thought it would be rude to bluntly ask what the crescent moon stood for, seeing as it was only their second meeting, “what were you doing before I called out to you? I hope I’m not disturbing you.” Her gaze fell to the ground; she hoped she wasn’t intruding on something and that it was alright she called out to her. Mayta was just lonely and excited to see another pack mate, she hoped that she could still consider Krystal her friend.
With her muzzle still to the ground she looked up and the two-tone scout, hoping that she wouldn’t be mad at her. Mayta still worried that no one would like her, and that instead of being welcomed she was always a nuisance. She once again slowly wagged her tail, as if to say please forgive me if she had done anything wrong.

Within moments the two fae’s now sat together, but as Mayta approached the yin-yang fae she was met with sapphire and emerald orbs on intrigue. What first came to mind for the former Zanguzen was how quick Mayta was on her paws for her age. Tor had blessed the chocolate and cream colored youth with natural quickness. If honed she would have the makings of a great scout and emissary. Krystal’s tail swished contently behind her, swiping at the grass blades which made up the vast terra of Ge-Rad. This was the second meeting between the two faes but from what Krystal learned about Mayta at their initial meeting, it seemed that the youth would make an excellent addition to the family of Ge-Rad. All ready her entrance into the pack was far easier, and less complicated then Krystal’s had been. Aside from the Dragga himself, Ge-Rad as a whole felt indifferent upon Krystal’s arrival. There were hundreds of possible theories to this. Nothing about the former Zanguzen’s appearance was normal. Two toned eyes and the markings of her heritage set the Ge-Radian apart from others. Aside from Draeg and Uskiya, no others know of the extent of what it meant to be born from the blood of Zanguzen.
“I’m doing fine Mayta, just doing my morning patrol like always.” In truth Krystal was very happy about this sudden and unexpected break in usual routine. It wasn’t often the two toned Ge-Radian got to stop for pleasantries during her runs. “Yes, she is kind to us.” Krystal added on. “I pray that we continue to get days like this. Wolfbane’s reign feels so close now, I just want to enjoy what time we have left of peace.” Suddenly, curiosity had painted itself within the golden orbs of the younger fae. Though Krystal couldn’t tell at all what Mayta seemed to be staring at. Krystal was about to look behind her when Mayta spoke up, ebon auds alert and erect for the young ones question. It was not at all what Krystal had been expecting, but never the less she smiled, wondering a bit why Mayta would consider thinking in such a way. “Not at all little one.” Her voice came out, soothing and gentle as a calm river stream, meant to bring life and hope. “Believe me I don’t mind. Draeg’s got me running around all over Ge-Rad every morning. I’m supposed to patrol the boarders and check out anything unusual.”
At that moment, a gust of wind would comb the landscape, gently swaying Krystal’s ebony and ivory pelt and bringing relief and comfort to the lead scout. She closed her eyes and allowed her mind to carry in the fondness of the breeze, words slipping out easily in toe. “I don’t mind the patrols either. Running brings me such freedom and happiness; it’s in my blood you could say.” Opening her eyes once more, she brought her gaze upon the young fae and yipped at her playfully, in hopes of cheering Mayta up and making her more at ease. “So you and Sorcha must be close.” Krystal continued, moving the conversation along as best she could. “Has she shown you all of Ge-Rad yet? If she hasn’t yet, I wouldn’t mind showing you around, though I wouldn’t want to take away that privilege from her if she really wants to show you around herself. Sorcha seems really fond of you, are you going to learn the ways of healing like her?” The day was getting better and better by the moment, and if possible Krystal would help to ensure that Mayta’s first days in Ge-Rad would be as pleasant and welcoming as possible.

Her emerald speckled hues began to dance with excitement as the warm, caring words from the scout entered her auds and a smile came across her maw. She was so happy that she was not upset with her that her tail began to wag happily behind her. Gentle light breezes danced through the chocolate and tan pelt of the young fae and Mayta was once again glad for such a beautiful day before the storm known as Wolfbane’s Winter. Mayta began to wonder how she would cope her first winter. She had heard that it is the hardest time for any one single varg and just as hard for a pack. She made up her mind that she would help her new family any way she could.
Krystal’s voice brought her back to reality as she mentioned running and how it made her feel free. She began to giggle, “Really? That’s exactly how I feel every time I run. I love to feel the wind flowing through my fur; it makes me feel so alive and free!” Mayta jumped up and twirled around and began to yip, she was so excited to have someone who felt the same way, and to find out she wasn’t as strange as she thought. “I thought I was the only one that felt like that!” Settling back down on her haunches again, her tail steadily wagging back and forth behind her, she was so glad she had run into Krystal today.
An even bigger smile was placed on the young faes maw when the scout mentioned her dear adoptive sister Sorcha. “Oh yes! I don’t know what I would have done without her; she kept me fed and safe and brought me to my new home. I’ll never be able to repay for her kindness she has showed me.” Everything Mayta said was true, she loved Sorcha like her own sister and wanted to repay her for her kindness but she didn’t know how. “No, Sorcha hasn’t had the chance to show me around yet, she has been training very hard to be the packs healer, that’s where she is right now.” The ebon and ivory fae’s next words made her laugh, and shake her head. “No, I am not a healer, the names of those herbs make my head spin, and trying to figure out what to do with what, and I would hurt someone more, rather than help them.” She continued to chuckle. “I don’t know what I should do for this pack; I want to do something and something that I’m good at to help them. I just don’t know what.” She looked up at the Ge-Radian scout, “How did you know what you wanted to be, how did you know being a scout and emissary was your calling?”
Mayta didn’t see where Sorcha would mind Krystal showing her the beautiful lands of Ge-Rad, she had more than enough keeping her busy being the Dragga’s daughter and healer. “I would love it if you showed me the way of the lands, and what a gorgeous day for a personal tour!” She jumped up and began to run in circles around Krystal, “Come on lets go!”[/b]

Mayta’s excitement and energy almost seemed to serve as a sort of air born plague. As the chocolate colored pup bounced and twirled and yipped all in one motion, the feeling of exuberance transferred to the lead scout, causing Krystal’s tail to subconsciously sway and in turn release her own set of yips. Unknowing to Krystal at the very moment, this was the first time in a while the lead scout had an opportunity to spend quality time with one as young as Mayta. The former Zanguzen’s time was generally spent on dealings that would ensure the safety and protection of Ge-Rad, she had little time to indulge in the joys of peaceful living and an overall tranquil state of mind. Much like there was in the former Zanguzen, Krystal noted the potential that lay within Mayta. Sapphire and emerald orbs locking on to the hidden promise that lay sealed away within the young one’s form. At nearly a year, Mayta’s form still had a ways to go in development, but as a former Zanguzen, Krystal could pick up on the traits that lay dormant within. And slowly the ebony and ivory varg began to realize…
“She’s just like me, when I was her age…”
However, there was one key difference. The families in which these two fae would grow would be as opposite as yin and yang. Here in the land of Ge-Rad, Mayta would not suffer from the torment and teasing of corrupted siblings. She would neither have to deal with mockery of many for being considered deformed, nor the ridicule and scorn of being annexed by an entire society, and to be casted away and alienated by the members of your own pack like the bubonic plague. She would not be told on a constant basis that she is ugly, and a mistake Tor had intended on tossing away. Mayta would be absent to all these things, for she holds the fortune to grow up in the land of Ge-Rad, rather than the realm of Zanguzen. “Not at all little one.” Krystal at last responded; forming a smile on her ebon maw as such memories faded away into such. “Many think like this, for we are Varg. Meant to feel the wind in our fur and the air in our lungs, meant to roam free as we all do.” Unlike the chained dogs of man, wolves are the symbol of the wild and free animal. This fact is what separated the two species, the untamed and wild verses the tamed and caged.
Krystal couldn’t help herself but giggle at Mayta’s enthusiasm, and waited for an opportunity to comment. “Sorcha shares many if not all of her father’s traits. She’s growing to become a fine young fae, I only wish I could have had more of a chance to get to know her. I suppose part of it is my fault for always being so busy.” Carefully Krystal listened to the chocolate fae’s lyrics, auds erect and absorbing the dialect. Upon ending her words with a question, Krystal tilted her head a bit, and pondered to herself. In truth the former Zanguzen had never bothered to ask herself this question and now that such a inquiry was put out there she had to ponder it for a brief moment. “Well to be honest,” Krystal began. “I didn’t know myself. It was a position that our Dragga had given me one day out of the blue. He says my gifts as he calls them, would be suited for such a role, and to this day I’ve been using them as such, keeping the pack lands safe and pack alliances in check. I’m pretty sure the day will come when he calls on you for a role. We all play a part in the nurture of this land; yours too will come in time.”
Getting up on her paws now, Krystal stretched out her limbs and back; allowing the blood to flow and circulate and recharge. Upon finishing, the lead scout began to bounce a bit, checking her limbs carefully to be sure that they were ready for the event that was about to take place. Shaking them a bit at first then planting them firmly on the ground after satisfied, she looked at Mayta and smiled. An idea had formulated itself within the mind of the ebony and ivory fae. She was curious to see how fast Mayta really is, and this seemed to be the best way to get such results. “All right,” Krystal said with a smile and several swishes of her tail. “I have a place in mind but…” There was a momentary pause as Krystal bent down on her front paws in a playful manner, ebon banner wagging contently. “You’re going to have to keep up!” With that said, Krystal took off in one fluid motion toward the forests of Ge-Rad, kicking up blades of grass in her initial launch before moving into a nice steady pace. Krystal turned her sapphire and emerald gaze back, to see if Mayta was following.

Mayta just sat there, her emerald speckled orbs dancing with excitement of what today would hold for the two faes. Smiling as the ebon and ivory fae let the lyrics roll off her tongue of how she became a scout, Mayta hoped that their Dragga would do the same for her, she wanted him to give her a good job, one that was needed in Ge-Rad. “Oh I hope Draeg will assign me to my proper position, give me a job that is just perfect for me.” Her chocolate and tan tail began to sway rapidly behind her, she was so happy to be with Ge-Rad’s scout on this beautiful day.
She rose to her paws, standing up as straight as she could, her head was held high and her tail swayed proudly behind her, she pranced around in a circle to give Krystal a good look, “Do you think I have what it takes to follow in your foot steps? Do you think one day maybe I could be a loyal scout with you?” She stopped prancing and looked deep into Krystal’s kaleidoscope orbs, looking for answers and truth. She hoped that she would say yes, above all else she needed a purpose in the pack, something that she could do to repay the Dragga for taking her in right before the hardship of Wolfbane’s Winter. “I just need somewhere to belong.” Mayta looked to the ground and sat back hard on her haunches, not knowing what to think.
Suddenly excitement filled the Ge-Radians scout’s voice, and before the two-tone chocolate fae knew it Krystal took off sending blades of grass flitting through the air, one blade landing on her muzzle, teetering back and forth. Mayta shook her head back and forth to send the last blade of grass dancing to the ground, “Oh I’ll keep up, don’t you worry!” She barked loudly at the disappearing fae. Digging her claws into the ground she sprang forward, sending grass, dirt and dead leaves flying behind her. With every step she took, she began to run faster and faster, the wind began flow through her pelt making her feel alive. The trees around her began to become a blur and soon she was catching up to the scout with no problem. Steadying her pace she came just behind the ebon and ivory tail of Krystal so close that it tickled Mayta’s little nose and she began to giggle. “Where are we going?!” In truth she didn’t care, she felt like she could run all day, her muscle rippling under her shiny pelt as she ran, her long, sleek tail flowing behind her, running is when she was truly happiest, and to run with Ge-Rad’s scout gave her a challenge which drove her to improve on her running skills. A good run with a good friend is exactly what she needed on this beautiful day, it was turning in to one of the best days of her life.

//ooc: God-Moding Allowed//
Flying lera and putnar of all shapes and species scattered like frightened field mice, abandoning the love their nest and younglings at the sight of the two fae’s. Their sudden appearance had disturbed the natural silence and harmony that came with Ge-Rad living, and caused the frightened life forms to flap and flee from these pair of oncoming wolves, both moving across the landscape at a speed in which humans could only reach in the realm of dreams. For their forms were not and could never be capable of capturing the movement, stamina and agility needed to run wild and free as wolves do. On this day, two wolves ran free under the sun of Fenris’ ever watchful gaze, maneuvering in what seemed like effortless and choreographed series of dodges in order to avoid and oncoming trees. The wind itself was cut in two as Krystal and Mayta glided across the forest towards a destination in which only the lead scout knew of between the two of them. Glancing back for a moment, Krystal took a look at Mayta’s progress as they ran. Kaleidoscopic orbs intrigued at what they viewed.
The lead scout was in no means taking it easy on Mayta, nor was running at her max speed. Knowing well that such an act would be impossible within the red wood labyrinth. A simple miss step or wrong decision could very well lead to disastrous, if not dire consequences. What surprised the lead scout was how well the two toned yearling was keeping up, and by no means was this act an accident. Bi-hued sapphire and emerald hues caught on to the precise movements of Mayta’s paws, as they helped navigate the fae across the terrain of Ge-Rad’s forest. “She’s a natural.” Krystal thought. “She’s a little rough around the edges and tight turns, but she’s very fast without any training at all.” It was quite clear to Krystal that Mayta’s natural talents and body frame made the chocolate and tan colored varg exceptional scout material. The two wolves continued at their pace for a bit farther, till suddenly the path way cleared up and revealed a clearing, hidden within the ever thickening maze of sentries. It was this clearing in which Krystal had referred to earlier.
A gentle pond lay in the middle of the clearing. Its waters the purest of crystal in complexion reflected the brilliance of Fenris’ light, filling the area with radiance. Wild flowers of all shapes, colors and scents blanketed the area. Their aroma guided eloquently across the clearing and into the awaiting nares of the two Ge-Radians, who had gently come to a halt as to not disturb the environment in which mothered the richness and majesty of this plant life. Bi-hued orbs took a moment to take in the wonder in what is come to be known as Cwen’s Pond. It had been a while since her last visit to this hidden sanctuary of Ge-Rad, but was glad to see that it’s majesty hadn’t been lost in that time. Turning her gaze now onto Mayta, she smiled and spoke. Tail swishing in tow to the rhythm of the supple breeze that blew in as she spoke. “This is Cwen’s Pond.” Krystal spoke. “Named after Ge-Rad former Drappa; I myself never got to meet her, but I hear that Cwen was a proud and strong Drappa. In her death, this sanctuary was named in her honor. And to answer your earlier question, there’s no doubt in my mind now that you’d make a wonderful scout. You’re very fast for your age. I’m sure Draeg too will see that. I can help you become even faster, and teach you the tricks of being a scout, if you’re interested.” Taking a seat now, Krystal smiled, and awaited the response from Mayta.

There is nothing like running when you are a varg, it’s something that they are born to do. It makes them feel alive and free; but some are more destined to be runners than others. The two faes now running through the forest of Ge-Rad were natural born runners and you could see it in their eyes and form as they ran. The chocolate and tan yearling followed the two tone scout with every step, making sure to not to stray from the path that Krystal had laid for her, one wrong step could impale her into a sturdy tree. For such a young fae Mayta had accomplished great skill, all of her running talents were natural, the gods had blessed her with a great ability; but she still would have much to learn. A smile came across her maw, “I wonder if Krystal would be willing to teach me everything she knows, I wonder if she will teach me to be a great scout just as she is today.” She thought to herself.
Krystal began to come to a slow gallup, and it was then the yearling noticed why; they were coming to a subtle clearing. Mayta found all of Ge-Rad beautiful, but this new place was breath taking. Her chocolate auds perked to attention as she listened to Krystal’s lyrics she spoke of this sacred place. Smiling at the Ge-Radian scout and bowed her head in both acknowledgement of what she had said and to show respect to the fallen Drappa. “This place is so gorgeous Krystal. Thank you for showing me this very important place that means so much to our family.” Mayta knew this was just the beginning of her personal tour from the scout and there were many more places that she would be shown today, but she couldn’t imagine anywhere as beautiful as Cwen’s Pond.
After running with Ge-Rad’s lead scout she knew exactly what she was meant to be, where she could truly be the most help to her pack. It seemed Krystal was in agreeance with her thoughts and excitement once again filled her veins, Mayta jumped in the air twirling around in a circle landing exactly where she leapt from. A huge grin seemed to be permentaly placed upon her maw. Maybe it was the puppy that still remained within her, but before she knew it she pounced towards the ebon and ivory fae, sending her backwards. Mayta landed standing over her and began licking and whining uncontrollably. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I can’t wait to learn! You must teach me everything you know, just everything!” Her fluffy two-tone tail wagged rapidly behind her out of control, giggling she stepped back away from Krystal knowing she was probably ready to get up. “I apologize, I hope that I did not over step my boundaries, but I just couldn’t control the excitement anymore.” She dipped her head low as an apology.
She rose to her paws again, all this excitement made her extremely thirsty. She gracefully made her way over to the pond, her tail swaying happily behind her. Lowering her muzzle slowly to the crisp, cool water, her ebon gums parting ways so that her pink tongue could lap up the refreshing water. Mayta turned back to face Krystal, her emerald speckled orbs meeting her emerald and sapphire orbs, “This place is so beautiful, I hate to leave it, but I’m so curious about the other places still left in Ge-Rad that I haven’t seen, will you show me more?” She walked over to her mentor, and nuzzled her gently. It was her way of saying thank you, thank you for everything, and most of all a way to say thank you for being her friend.

Jubilation had filled the young fae before the former Zanguzen, giving her such energy and excitement, that is was no wonder Mayta acted as she did. The pup within the yearling was strong, such exuberance was no doubt one of the many secrets that lay hidden within the chocolate and tan fae. Krystal smiled, and felt content with the decision she had made to tutor what would become Ge-Rad’s future scout. There was no doubt within the former Zanguzen’s mind that with the right training and guidance, Mayta would undoubtedly become a vital asset within the community of Ge-Rad. Though scouts don’t normally jump into frays, their eyes, ears and speed provide the much needed security around the borders of the land. It is this union ship between scouts, warriors and healers that make a pack strong. And Ge-Rad held these qualities in spades. Krystal smiled, but before anything more could be done or said, she found herself being tackled to the ground by Mayta. What the bi-hued Ge-Radian felt now however, was an emotion unlike any that had preceded it. For as the bi-colored fae was well aware, her closest friends in the world, had all become mothers with healthy pups. They basked in the warmth of motherhood, and to this Krystal knew not the feeling.
In fact, she knew not the feeling of love from a mate, for she has always been without one. This emotion now though felt soft to the soul, content and peaceful. As Mayta showered Krystal with gratitude and affection, perhaps this was what it felt like to be a mother, caring for the well being and safety of her young one. Seeing the joy on her pups faces, with goals and aspirations of the future, and wanting to make sure that those dreams were made into reality. The lead scout couldn’t help but let out a content sigh, and felt somewhat sad when Mayta had taken it upon herself to move off of the lead scout. In a sense, it was a reminder of what reality really was. Krystal was no mother, and nothing in life gave any sort of guarantee that she would ever become one. Folding her ears, a gentle whine allowed itself out of her ebon parted maw, for a moment Krystal had forgotten where she was, and what had transpired. Her soul had yearned for that feeling, the feeling of motherhood, and had tasted but a sip of its sweet nectar, before being taken away.
“It’s fine.” Krystal spoke quickly, as she shook her head a bit. Reality had settled firmly back into place, and Krystal now stood on her four paws. “It’s fine Mayta.” The lead scout now spoke in a calmer manner. “I’d feel just as you would if the roles were reversed, so no apologies. I’ll do my best to teach you what I know, but teaching is new for me, so please bear with me if I make mistakes.” Krystal watched with her sapphire and emerald pools as Mayta now drank from the crystal water’s of Cwen’s Pond. As Mayta drank, the former Zanguzen’s thoughts wandered, playing flashbacks of her most recent past like a movie in her mind. Much of it involved the long journey of self enlightenment the former Zanguzen had taken, and the many lessons she carried from the wise kerls she had met along the way. One of them stuck out in her mind. His kind dark features like a beacon in the mist, always smiling and carrying a gaze of golden innocence. His tone reverberated within the fae’s mind with such clarity; it was as if she had just heard his voice yesterday. He was a handsome male, with the weight and responsibility of his Beta title clasped firmly around his strong shoulders and warrior like frame. Yet his kindness and humble generosity did not bend from those weights. He is as he always was, a strong, humble, and bashful male that Krystal found herself thinking about from time to time.
Mayta’s voice is what awoke the dazed fae from her thoughts, quickly followed by a set of nuzzles that showed gratitude to the letter. Smiling, Krystal licked the young fae’s forehead gently; each lapping of the tongue contained hidden dialect that if decoded properly, would reveal the gratitude contained within the bi-hued fae. For the first time in Krystal’s life, even if for only the briefest of instance, she felt what it was like to be a mother. For this, the lead scout was eternally grateful. “Of course I will little one.” She spoke gently. “Ge-Rad holds many secrets and wonders, we might wind up spending the whole day to see them all, so be sure to have your fill of water before we go. And along the way, I’ll try and explain some of the roles a scout plays for their pack. For you see little one, scouting is not just all about running around to your heart’s content. A good scout must be in-tune with all their senses. Smell, Sight, Hearing, Taste and Touch, you must learn to use them all as a team. Most importantly of all, she must know her home like a mother knows her child.” Once finished, Krystal placed her paw gently on the grassy surface that lay just before Mayta. Keeping her bi-hued pools focused on her ebon paw the lead scout continued. “Ge-Rad can feel as we do. She smiles when all is well, and cries when she is in danger; it’s our job to read those emotions and find that danger.”

//I'm gonna go ahead and apologize for this post now, I'm so rusty with this character. I hope it gives you at least something to work with when you return.//
The chocolate and tan fae couldn’t control the excitement that was continually building inside of her, the once clumsy cub she was had grown into a graceful adolescent and now had a purpose in life and a teacher and friend who would teach her everything she needed to know. Mayta would have probably tackled the ebon and ivory fae once more, but something seemed to be wrong, for a brief second her ears were folded and a whine escaped her maw. The muddy colored fae tilted her head back and forth as a worry filled her emerald speckled hues, what had she done that had hurt the fae so much, she couldn’t grasp why Krystal was so sad. In the next instant it was gone, and she seemed to be getting back to her old self again, but still curiosity filled the scout in training, she wondered what the noble scout in front of her was thinking about.
Krystal had seemed to brush it off, and her kind, warm words filled Mayta’s auds once more, causing a sweet smile to form on her tan muzzle. Dipping her head in respect to the bi-hued fae, she sat there with her long, fluffy tail swishing back and forth behind her in happiness and excitement. Soon the Ge-Radian scout would teach her everything she knew and would pass on years on knowledge and experience to her, Mayta would forever be grateful to the scout and she would be sure to show it in every move she made. “Oh Krystal, I know you will be a great teacher, and I will be your most excellent pupil…or at least I’ll try my hardest.” Mayta winked at the fae before her, though she would be a great student to the wise scout, there must be room for play, without play life would be dull and boring, it would be no life to have at all. With that thought Mayta was up and twirling again, she had so much energy that it was hard for her to contain it, and she began running circles around the scout once more, almost as if to say, catch me if you can. Finally Mayta slowed once more, collapsing on her side, and began to paw at the scout’s tail playfully as she rolled on her back, the tip of her tail lazily flopping from side to side.
A gentle lick to the forehead seemed to bring the chocolaty fae back to reality, there was so much kindness in the gesture that a giant smile formed across her maw, as she rose to her paws once more to listen intently on what Krystal had to say. Nodding and understanding her wise words, Mayta knew that what was unfolding between them was more than any normal friendship; they would have an unbreakable bond that she would be grateful for long into her life. “I promise you Krystal, that your teachings and words will not go to waste. You have my full attention and with any luck, you will help me hone my skills to be a great scout one day. So please tell me more, tell me how I can feel what Ge-Rad feels, and know how to combine all of my senses to be as great a scout as you. I am eager to learn, I need to have a place within the pack, I need to have a purpose, today you have given me that purpose and I will never be able to repay you for that.”
Mayta placed her paw gently over the ebon paw of the scout as an attempt to feel what she was feeling, to try to grasp everything that Krystal was trying to convey. She looked deep into her emerald and sapphire kaleidoscope orbs and smiled tenderly and licked her muzzle. After doing so she leaned into Krystal, burying her head in her ebon and ivory scruff; there was something so different about the fae that made Mayta feel at home. She felt as if some way they were connected, though not by blood but something deeper, something more mysterious. Mayta gently pulled away, “Krystal I am ready. It is time that I learn the ins and outs of Ge-rad, that I truly learn what life as a Ge-Radian means. Tell me more, tell me everything you know.” She licked the two toned fae’s muzzle once more and rose to all four paws, her tail wagging excitedly behind her, stepping aside Mayta looked ahead to the unknown parts of Ge-Rad excited for what lies ahead of her.
