[glow=purple,2,3,00]((This won't be too long, just long enough to finish this thread or something. Sorry for my absense folks.....))
Golden hues sparkled with a brand new meaning. It hadn't been her time yet, and here now she lay, stiff with the rocks and ice jutting into her spine with blood running silkly down beneath her body. She was surrounded by her friends...no, her family...Gingerly, feeling a renewed strength in her boney self, Fiory placed her two font paws beneath her, her hind legs slowly following suit. A loud shuddering moan escaped that raven black muzzle, a growl and a dark snarl taking the enchanted smile away in a whisper of the wind. Her back hurt like arrows peircing her all over.
Arrows, ah, she remembered those wretched things that those humans hurled at vargs. Back when List was still new, with Shatocwnn and Leohlic, when Fiory and Bristol's puppy love was beginning to grow, ah, she remembered that heart shattering sound and the skin tearing feeling of an arrow as it peirced her shoulder. The stinging sensation, the burning of flame that seemed to eminate from it was almost unbareable. Compared to now? Fiory would take the arrow to her shoulder. A deep whine like groan rumbled in Fiory's throat, her coat slowly shifting as her weight was placed on those righted paws. The pain was immense, almost crippling again, but no bones were broken Thank Tor and Fenris for that. If her spine had broken, Fiory the proud and wind rippling drappa of List, who loved to run and chase falling stars, would never have been able to trot, let alone run, again. If her back had busted, her spirit would have been crushed into oblivion. But something was off with it, it was twisted in a sickly fashion, and yet in this crippled position, Fiory was standing. Her spine was slightly tilted skyward, the middle of it creating an uncomfortable arch, but for now she was standing. And something new had shown it'self upon that agile backline. Scratched into her fur, just between the shoulderblade's withers upon her spine, was the scarring impression of what appeared to be....A Star. Down along her spine, one in the middle directly and two flanking it, one on the right and one on the left...Three streams, jagged, but streams all the same had been carved into her flesh, racing one another down her back. The left ended about her mid back, while the right followed the same pattern, though the middle won said race ending at the base of her long feathery tail. From the sky's point of view, it appeared that there was now a shooting star implanted upon the ebony drappa's spine.
Whining in immense pain and breathing hard, Fiory suddenly threw her head up, forcing her spine down. A hideous crack echoed forth and a loud pain filled whimper shot from the drappa's muzzle, her eyes tearing with the pain, but it soon subsided, her breathing steadying and relaxing. Blood stained her ebon coat, dripping from her new starry scar down her chest and along her back. Those yellow gold eyes and ears swiveled softly, her eyes opening once more to look at her packmates. A genuinely grateful smile came to her muzzle, holding herself back from whining in grattitude for each of them staying by her side as they did.
"Thank you...All of you...for being with me...from times before and now...It was your hearts that brought me back....I can't express in words how thankful I am for each and every one of you....." Her tail gently swung behind her in her own happiness, star twinkles glistening in those sparkling gold eyes. She would have wagged her long feathered tail further, but most movements right now were painful, so she restrained her glee for the moment.
"Now, let us feast....I am sure there are herla up there that are just...dieing...to see us again."
Suns went by, and so did the corresponding moons. It rained and it shined, the snow melted and warmth was given to the land of List. Flowers bloomed and the trees were alive with life once more. Birds sang their screeching songs and twitters, where as small lera now leapt from here and there. The rest of the herd of herla had rejoined the lands of List, and now food was beginning to become plentiful to all. Since the accident, Fiory had not changed, at least not a lot. She was still kind and gentle, but with a new twist to her design. The scarring upon her back had changed the coat color of her fur in those specific areas. Now, instead of black plagueing her entire back, a greyish white replaced the areas where the star and it's three streamers were held, every so often inbetween and around these new markings little grey, white, and blue speckles sprouted. She was no longer an ebony shadow, filled with blackness and covered with it say for her ears...Now, she truly deserved the title, of Stargazer....and she had the marking's to prove it.....[/glow]
