What about me?
The world had gone from green to red within a short number of suns, and already leaves were littering the earth beneath the canopy and the forest was the rainbow of Autumn. Fenris’ powerful rays had begun to weaken and already the temperature was falling slowly, leaving the mornings and evenings chilled, with the days left either bitter or mild. Already the varg of Transylvania were altering to the season change and their pelts were growing thick and luxurious once more, showing off their true beauty and size. With prey starting to grow scarce as small lera were getting ready for hibernation and the herla were preparing to head off on their migration to warmer climates, the land of List was growing quiet, and the tension of an oncoming winter was growing eminent. So much so that the pack seemed to have separated for almost an entire moon and spent serious time on their own, doing as they pleased. Well not this day.
Alone within a clearing a male lay, his large body sprawled and limp on the slightly frosted morning grass, his chest softly rising and falling as small wisps of mist furled from his nostrils and faded away on the gentle breeze. The mann was in fact the Beta male of List, and many, including himself, would say he’d done a lousy job – for he had a terrible habit of wandering off and abandoning the pack for moons before a return. However, after being given the title of Beta, Drathlic – which was his name – had not strayed once from the lands and had in fact been ever vigilant on protecting the borders. Yet of course, it wouldn’t have seemed as such as there was little to no activity going on at the borders, not within them to take any action. His thick pelt, a beautiful mixture of ruddy browns and beige, bristled slightly when an ominous chilling wind stroked his spine the wrong way, causing him large body to flinch in an odd way. Lids lifted sharply before blinking several times on serene blue orbs – his most peculiar and cub-like feature. A grunt erupted from his vocals as he stiffly got to his haunches, pushing up with his tired forelimbs and lowering his head in a sluggish manner.
Many thoughts and wars had been going on inside his mind through the past several moons, and over the last sun he had finally put his thoughts to rest – allowing him mind to relax as a decision was made. Though this decision would not be one he would openly discuss with his pack members if they came within range of him – it was something he wasn’t proud of, but all he wanted was a life…to lead it how he wished. And with his final decision, he was one step closer to that life’ he longed for. Flexing his auds back, Drathlic took a deep breathe before lifting his head, letting out the air within his lungs and gazing at his surroundings. Not a peep from the forest…and yet he was suddenly aware that he was being watched…
(it's truly aweful, but hey...it's something. Now come on guys!)

List was changing. Already the rich emerald hues that had once filled the forest had faded for the up and coming arrival of Autumn, a sea of color in its stead. The days were growing cooler with each passing sun, the rays of Fenris, once filled comfort and warmth, seemed weaker somehow in comparison to the summer days when mighty wolf god had warmed the land. With the weather slowly on the decline the varg of List had been forced to adapt to the seasonal change, sprouting thick layers of fur beneath their already luxurious pelts, seemingly adding to their size and giving them a somewhat more pronounced beauty. What prey was normally available had already begun to grow scarce as many of them prepared for the long sleep they would undertake in the coming months while the larger lera readied themselves for the long migration ahead of them. Perhaps this had been the reason behind the pack’s recent dispersing, for it seemed like nearly a moon since the varg of List had chosen to meet and socialize amongst themselves.
A singular figure, feminine in nature, travel through the dying vegetation that made up the forest, thin body picking around the various obstacles that threatened to bar her way, all the while remaining seemingly ignorant of the countless pine needles that managed to find their way into her thickening pelt. She was Aiyu, avid stargazer, apprenticing storyteller, and youngest daughter of List current alpha pair and most likely, in her mind at least, their biggest disappointment. Her pelt, a delicate hue of ivory tinted with a rich hint of auburn, glistened radiantly in the dappled rays of morning sun that filtered through the tree, dew glittering like tiny multitude of tiny jewels within her pelt. Oculars drifted about aimlessly like disembodied emeralds, another passing remnant of her mother’s genes, wandering from tree to tree. Shoulders rolling forward she pressed on, slender muzzle parting in a slight sigh as she brought herself closer to her intended destination.
Her mind was an endless stream of thoughts as she pondered over every aspect of her life, particularly the past few moons in which she had completely immersed herself within her training. She had thought that by isolating herself from her mentor and packmates she would have gain a better understanding of who she truly was and what she contributed to the rest of List - yet for all her dedication, for all her training she still hadn’t figured out what her purpose was within the pack. Nose twitching instinctively on impulse Aiyu caught the somewhat familiar, but unmistakable, scent of another varg, auds jutting forward in alarm as she realized in her pondering she had allowed herself to become distracted and inadvertently wander into the presence of one of the few varg she had tried so hard to avoid.
Cyan eyes watched the undergrowth surrounding him, picking up the disturbances beneath the canopy. Birds and vermin caused minor rustles, all of which were picked up by his radar auds, which swivelled back and forth aloft his head. The sudden snap of a fallen twig and the light intake of breathe sounded behind his seated form and Drathlic leapt to his paws, turning on the spot to bare his canines at a rather shocked and delicate looking Aiyu. Pressing his auds back and lowering his lips, the ruddy pelted man let a shrug roll over his shoulders as his muscles relaxed. It had been quite a while since he’d seen any sign of a varg within the pack territory, and even longer since he’d seen any of Gryffin’s cubs. He was incredibly thankful that it was not Sora who had stumbled across him; though part of him was actually disappointed. Letting a slight sigh pass his lips, warm air rising in furls of mist above their heads, he sat back once more onto his haunches and allowed his large body to relax. Glancing up at the weakest of the three youths, Drathlic let a little smile touch his lips. “It’s been a while Aiyu. How’re you getting on with Fiory?” he asked with true sincerity. He remembered well how much of a sikla he had once been, picked on by his brother and terrified of everything within life and even life itself. Still the scent and taste of blood stirred terror within his mind – not to mention the sound and sight of a raven or crow. Yet the brute had come far in his life already, and he wanted to see the same from Aiyu; having personal training with Fiory would surely give her a great head start.

Nose wrinkling at the pungent odor Aiyu cringed, emerald optics dilating to needle points as she scanned the clearing. Ahead of her she could make out a distinct shape into the bracken through the brush, its ruddy brown form was distinctly canine in nature and its scent offered a clear image as to the primitive nature of its breed. Quivering with fright she began to retreat back into he withering vegetation, gasping softly as a stray twig found its way beneath her paw filling the air with an audible crack. Any hope of slipping by unnoticed vanished in an instant, her cover blown by the faintest of sounds. Ivory tassel curling beneath her belly she fell to the ground, auds falling to her scalp to complete the submissive image. The sight that met her was that of a snarling brute, lips pulled back in fierce snarl as his oddly blue eyes bore down on her mercilessly. Instantly Aiyu identified him as Drathlic, co-dragga of List as well as lead warrior under her father. While she was not really acquainted with the large beta ivory youth knew him to among the more docile members of List, though his current demeanor was causing her to rethink her opinion. Whining softly she roll onto her back, exposing her belly to him in a gesture of submission. Her time apart from the rest of List had done nothing to diminish her submissive nature, and while she had grown more independent from the pack she still recalled her place within it. The threatening display lasted only a few seconds, the ruddy man relaxing after a moment and rolling his shoulders in a slight shrug. Soft vocals reaching her ears she chanced a quick glance at her superior, startled by the sincerity of his tone. Not used to such kind treatment by anyone other than her mentor she balked, not quite sure how to respond. “Okay I guess.” she mumbled softly. “I haven’t seen aunt Fiory in a while, she left me to train on my own for a while. We split up a while back.” While Drathlic had never shown any hostility towards her it was hard for Aiyu to believe that that would last, especially given his current relationship with her elder sister Sora though to be fair did have a bad tendency of rubbing people the wrong way. Tail tucked tightly beneath her quivering form she rolled onto her belly, ears flat against her skull as she rose to meet him; emerald gaze centered down solely on her paws.
Daughter of Gryffin and Sudak Descendent of Leohlic and Shatocwn Niece of Fiory and Bristol Sister of Sora and Arias
The faemme adopted the obvious stance, submission. Drathlic knew Aiyu all too well and he merely flicked an aud at her behaviour, now un-phased by the fact that another would surrender to him, rather than it be the other way around. Her vocals quivered slightly, but the ruddy brute looked past it, knowing that she would come around after she settled – it hadn’t helped how harshly he had confronted her only moments before. He was quite shocked to hear, however, that Fiory had in fact left Aiyu to her own devices and that she had simply been wandering on her own for a while. Quirking a brow he shifted himself slightly and straightened up, allowing Aiyu to roll back onto her belly and assume a less submissive posture. “Well I’m glad to hear that you’re well, but it’s not good for you to be on your own for so long,” he growled in response. It was a slightly hypocritical reply, and Drathlic knew it all too well. He had been seeking the solitude and silence of his own company now for several moons – but for a fae so young and already so inadequate when socializing with other varg it was far from an ideal situation. She should have been interacting with other varg and learning how to communicate without having to fall down on her belly every time she came in contact with another; even he had never been as bad as a youngster, despite his strong timid personality. Though Drathlic knew it didn’t help when her two siblings were the complete opposite to her, and there was no one else within the pack her own age.
A sigh passed his lips in a flurry of misty white breathe as he peered down at the youth, his cyan eyes soft and his slight smile tender. “Never the less, I guess we’ve all been a little lonely as of late. I haven’t seen the rest of the pack for some time now, I’m glad you happened to run into me,” he growled with light tones.

Drathlic’s tone was a far cry from the harsh response Aiyu was used to receiving from her siblings. True she hadn’t done anything to warrant his wrath but she had expected to receive a harsher response from the imposing beta had been expecting. She was so used to being scorned and overlooked as a disappointment by her family that she was reluctant to believe that any of her packmates outside of Fiory was capable of compassion. Hesitantly she chance a quick glance at the elder male, his soothing tones and non-threatening posture encouraging her to relax. He seemed genuinely surprised that Fiory would leave her alone to fend for herself, apparently not having expected their former Drappa to have done such a thing. Seeing this Aiyu couldn’t help feeling a little indignant over Drathlic’s assumption, after all she had proven that she was quite capable of taking care of herself. “I can take care of myself.” she muttered bitterly. The feeling passed however, alabaster youth realizing that he was only showing his concern for her well being. Ashamed of her behavior and embarrassed by how she had nearly responded Aiyu looked down at her paws, ivory mitts shuffling uncomfortably beneath her. And as much as she hated to admit it there was a ring of truth to what Drathlic said, being neither scout or warrior Aiyu lack the necessary skills to defend herself in a direct confrontation. Due to the violent nature of her siblings and her own submissive nature she had never learned to socialize all that well with her fellow packmates leaving the young fae somewhat lost during both one on one situations and social gatherings. Fiory’s lessons had helped to build her confidence over the passing moons however it was becoming evident from her confrontation with the Listern beta that Aiyu needed to concentrate on learning how to socialize with her packmates, but who would tolerate her?
Light tones reaching her ears Aiyu let out a slight sigh, pearly maw parting to release a puff of misty vapor that dissipated almost instantly. Auds coming to attention she glance up at her superior, viridian orbs bright with curiosity. “Really, why? I always figured you wouldn’t want to associate yourself with someone like me, after all no one else does.”
The brute heard the frustrated mutterings of Aiyu, but he let them pass with a mere smile. He knew himself how frustrating it was – he was like Aiyu more than she would ever believe it, yet their histories were very much different. And as these thoughts churned through his ever working mind, Drathlic remained silent and observed the youth with interest. She was timid, shy and seemed almost as though her conscience was forever guilty – and this truth seemed ever more evident with her reply to his comment. The ruddy brute’s auds shot up and his cyan hues widened ever so slightly. He had never considered himself higher than any varg before, even when dubbed the title of Beta Male; it just wasn’t in his nature to dominate. He had however learnt that to prove himself and to prevent being beaten down by the world that he would have to adapt his outer-self, even if his inner-self screamed against each action he made. Just like Aiyu, he had had little interaction with another varg over the past several moons, and was now unaware of how others thought of him. Was he seen as worthless and petty still? Or did they think of him as a silent loner with a hidden beast within? Aiyu, though knowing that no other varg seemed to have the time for her, had obviously thought that he was the latter. At least, his mind seemed assure that this was the case.
Drathlic’s auds flattened almost instantly after these thoughts passed his mind and his head sunk slightly, shoulder blades now protruding and giving him the look of a hunched over old brute. A sigh escaped his muzzle as his eyes diverted for a mere moment towards his paws. The realisation hit that if no one else was going to befriend and help the youth, it was only his duty to take that place. After all, he was – to his belief – the only one in the pack who could relate at all to her sikla stance; other than Silent who seemed to have vanished without a trace. Shaking his head slowly he raised his head once more and peered down into Aiyu’s young face, her dazzling green hues so clearly like her mother’s. His smile returned and it was soft, hoping to appeal to the yearling. “I would never think such a thing Aiyu. You don’t know me very well, and that’s all fair as I haven’t always been the most faithful varg to List. However, whether or not you believe it, we are very much alike you and me. Though I may carry the title of Beta, in my heart I’ll forever be a sikla,” he growled gently. It was difficult for him to explain it, for he didn’t much like thinking or talking about his past. But if it helped Aiyu to see exactly what he meant, then in might have to come to such a thing.

Seeing the reaction her words had invoked from the ruddy beta Aiyu winced, cursing herself for her stupidity. She shouldn’t have been so blunt, now chances were that Drathlic would probably discipline her for upsetting him. Oh why hadn’t she just kept her mouth shut? However Drathlic seemed more surprised than angry by her baffled quip, his features falling ever so slightly as he glance momentarily at his paws. Torn between the urge to flee and the need to apologize the ivory youth just stood there, unsure of what to do next. Part of her wanted to flee, to put as much distance between herself and the Listern beta less he decide to punish her for her insolence. Unfortunately despite her silent protest the white youth’s feet failed to head her commands, paws rooted firmly in place as if frozen by some unseen force. Fortunately for her Drathlic’s wrath never came, instead Aiyu found herself staring up at the ruddy male’s smiling visage. Instantly any anxiety she’d had about the imposing beta vanished, pressed back to the farthest corners of her mind to await the next seed of self-doubt that would allow them to surface. His words were kind and comforting, almost reminisce of her father before he had become Dragga. Before he’d changed. But Drathlic wasn’t her father, if anything the kindly brute could have been her brother for he was too young to have sired either Aiyu or her siblings. Indeed he treated her in very much the same way Aiyu had always imagined her siblings should have treated her, a fact that filled her with a deep sense of bitterness and longing towards her brother and sister.
Emerald hues flickering to her paws the ivory fae found herself staring blankly at the ground, thoroughly sullen by her own observation. She had often wondered why her brother and sister had hated her so, she had never fully understood how her siblings never could tolerate her existence while at the same time remaining so close to one another. Sora despised her for being weak, something which she had never failed to remind Aiyu, and it was reasonable to assume that Arias had for the same reason. Perhaps once the three of them had gotten along though if they had Aiyu certainly had no recollection of it. It was probably a good thing List had drifted apart after Fiory had stepped down since Arias had departed for the Balkar and Sora had disappeared from the face of the earth entirely, the only downside was that the pack hardly convened anymore if at all. It sadden Aiyu to think of how List had once been, the realization of just how much things had changed rather depressing to the soft white youth. A sigh escaping her muzzle she looked back towards the hulking brute before her. How much longer would it be before his rank went to his head and he found her presence intolerable, before he followed the same path her parents had walked turned into a cold shadow of his former self? Meeting his gaze she straightened, trying to appear more like her mentor instead of the worthless sikla she was often portrayed as. “Perhaps for now, but that will change. Maybe not right away but eventually you’ll become like all the rest.” she growled almost bitterly. “Power corrupts, I’ve seen it and so have you. I’ve seen what it did to my parents, how it changed my mother and father. They’re not the same varg they once were, they’re different, they’ve become as cold and distant as List itself.” Voice cracking she looked away, hurt and ashamed as though not wanting to admit what her family had become. “Father frightens me and mother shuns me for not being more like my siblings and following in our grandfather’s footsteps, though she’d never admit it you can see it in her eyes whenever I’m around. I know they love move yet at the same time they don’t want to accept me for who I am.”
Returning her gaze to Drathlic she gazed at him almost nostalgically, finally finding her voice after a moment. “We may have been kindred spirits at one point but I’ve heard stories about your training with my father, the reports of your progress and even about your little stint with Sora.” At this Aiyu’s lips tightened, faintest hint of a smile tracing her white maw. She continued, quivering tone laced with humor. “Though I’ll admit I would have liked to see that. You can deny it all you want but the truth is you’re different from the varg you were before, as are Renn and Silent, you all changed along with the rest of List. Power corrupts, you may be able to resist it for now but eventually something will happen and you’ll fall victim to your own ambitions.”
The ruddy brute remained where he sat and observed the youth, watching as her cogs began to turn, as thoughts and memories were regenerated inside her mind’s eye and the way it affected her expression. She was forever thoughtful, much like Fiory herself, and Drathlic’s aud quirked with interest. He longed to find out more…to find out what Aiyu had been taught by the previous Drappa and now present nurse. She had lived a long life and was one of the original members of the pack. It would be useful to know. And as Drathlic’s own mind ticked away, he almost missed the sudden shift in the youth’s expression. Her eyes met his and for a moment she seemed dominant, that was until she began to speak and her words held a slight tremble. Of anger? Maybe…but all Drathlic knew was that it came from the heart, and from what she knew. Her words stung him and he pulled his auds back with bitter thoughts. He knew exactly what she was talking about, where she was coming from. Gryffin and Sudak were once kind hearted; at least on the inside. Yet now that they have taken over they were converting the pack back into the old ways, corrupting it with brutality and strength. Though Drathlic had a fair understanding why they had done such a thing, he didn’t exactly like it.
Memories flooded back to him of that day when Fiory stepped down and he was dubbed a warrior. The fear and terror that had flashed within his eyes his alphas had recognised immediately, but they knew they had to beat it out of him, and of course they did. The training was terribly hard for the trio of warriors, and Drathlic’s temper had merely gotten the better of him over Sora. Though despite what Aiyu claimed, it had nothing to do with power-hunger. It was mere frustration and true hatred for the younger bitch. He had never ‘hated’ anyone or anything in his life, yet Sora had managed it. And she would suffer only for the suffering she had put his friends through, for the advantage she had taken over him. Whether he was claimed sikla or Dragga, it mattered little to Drathlic.
Suddenly finding his voice, the mann growled and shifted his seating slightly, his auds remained pinned back against his skull. “Power has no influence over me Aiyu, and if you are so sure that it will corrupt me then you are just as doomed as I. The incident with Sora had nothing to do with power, as we were all equals that day within the training course. She pushed me to the limits, and no other varg has managed to do that before. Only ever have I felt fear, pain and sadness; never have I felt hatred. Do not judge me when you know nothing of me Aiyu. I told you that we are more alike than you’d ever believe, but maybe I was wrong. For I have never judged another before getting to know the true side of their heart first,” he growled quietly, making his point clear as his cyan hues met the emerald jewels of the Alpha’s daughter. Her words had hurt him, and as much as he had wanted to get to know her, he now suddenly felt betrayed by another so like himself. Renn and Silent were the only varg who knew him well within the pack, but the only true varg that seemed to share his soul was Shayla, and she was a whole world away. But with his friends gone, he needed another to confide in. Aiyu may have been his only chance.
(sorry for the awful ending)

To the ivory fae it seemed as though her words had a more profound effect on the elder brute than she had anticipated, as the once curious and inquisitive gaze he had carried vanished beneath her pessimistic views. Seeing his downcast expression Aiyu couldn’t help almost regretting ever speaking to the ruddy male, he had seemed nice enough at first glance, but her own insecurities had driven her to push him away. She longed to share in the same companionship she had with her mentor, but at the same time the fear of being hurt, both in hypothetical form and literal, kept her from bonding with anyone outside of Fiory. Drathlic’s gaze falling upon hers Aiyu flinched, emerald gems turning away from his captivating cyan hues. She could tell that he sympathized with her observations regarding the management of their pack, yet the young beta had grown visibly uneasy by their conversation. It was obvious that her blunt analogy had hurt him though that came as somewhat of a surprise to Aiyu. His words held a strange conviction within them that made her feel ashamed of herself for acting as she had. Drathlic hadn’t deserved that. Thanks to her solitary nature and reclusive demeanor Aiyu found it hard to converse with others for fear of them turning out to be like her sister, in those rare instances that she did find herself locked in conversation she often didn’t know how to interact properly. She was used to being alone, but for someone like Drathlic, who surrounded himself in the company of others, Aiyu couldn’t imagine what it was like for him to suddenly find himself alone. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.” she apologized, ears falling flat against her scalp. “I’m so used to be overlooked that when someone actually notices me it’s hard to open up.”
Aiyu had never been close to her siblings, if anything Sora and Arias had been the bane of her existence, and with her family drifting apart the only varg it seemed she could talk to had been Fiory. Yet her mentor had chosen to let her fend for herself, leaving her alone for the first time since her apprenticeship beneath the Stargazing Drappa. With no one to confide her thoughts to or socialize with life was becoming listless. Was it possible that Drathlic possibly felt the same way? If so, then perhaps a symbiotic relationship was needed for them to cope with the recent inactivity that had plagued their lives.
((better than mine. you think my post too pessemistic?))
Daughter of Gryffin and Sudak Descendent of Leohlic and Shatocwn Niece of Fiory and Bristol Sister of Sora and Arias
Drathlic continued to stare at Aiyu, suddenly forgetting about his sikla like demeanour after the way she’d spoken to him. As it turned out, his status of Beta was indeed winning over and he found it easier to become dominant over others…though this situation had nothing to do with status or dominance, it was sheer emotion and a wounded friendship that compelled him to watch her every move, to judge and anticipate her next move. Though the two had not declared any sort of friendship over the entire time they’d known each other – hell Drathlic had only truly spoke to the pearly faemme for the first time today – the ruddy male had always sensed a familiarity between their personalities. If only she hadn’t judged him so crudely and spoken without thinking, their conversation could have continued its merry way. But no, she had to spoil it.
Observing her, Drathlic noted her flattened auds and averted gaze as guilt began to wash over her. She remained silent and he continued to watch, awaiting her reply with slight hesitance to her next words. Yet, it was an apology and a worthy explanation as to why she’d accused him of such rotten things. Perking his auds, softness replaced the hard expression in his cyan hues as he now suddenly felt bad for his own harsh words. Though Aiyu had deserved a sharp telling off, Drathlic had forgotten what it was like to be looked down upon every day, and remembering that this was her first encounter with a varg for moons it was understandable that she didn’t know how to open up…or what exactly to keep to herself. Still, it was no excuse for her to judge Drathlic the way she did, and he still felt the sting of her previous speech.
A sigh escaped his muzzle and he got to his paws, padding softly towards her he turned round and sat himself by her side, cuffing her lightly in a playful way across the head. A smile replaced his stiff lips and he shrugged. ”It’s ok Aiyu, I didn’t mean to react in such a crude fashion. But you know how it feels having to defend yourself at any opportune moment. It’s what happens when you’ve got sikla instincts. I should know, I’ve always been one,” he growled lightly in reply. Hoping that what was said could just be, and not have it brought up again in the future.

Eyes falling to her paws Aiyu studied the ground, making a feeble attempt to avoid the accusing optic’s of Drathlic’s hardened stare. It shamed her to have spoken so out of term to her Beta like that and the sikla within her compelled her to cower against his imposing form and submit to the elder varg, more than a little intimidated by the sudden show of dominance he displayed towards her. In all the time the she had seen him Aiyu had never once seen the muddied male in such an agitated state as he was in now, this was save, of course, for the few times in which the ivory fae’s sister was present. Had it not been for her crude, albeit hasty words they might have gotten along grand or at the very least found a minute smidgen of common ground before going about their separate ways. But no, Aiyu had just had to open her mouth and accuse the brute of something he hadn‘t necessarily succumb to.
Regret seeped into her heart as the young fae realized that she might have driven away the one varg in List willing to befriend her. Even without looking at him Aiyu could still feel his ominous gaze boring into her, cyan hue’s burning a hole into her back. Wordlessly she awaited his scornful rebuke, auds listening for the harden tones that would no doubt greet them any moment. However, much to Aiyu’s evident surprise, they never came. Against her better judgment she chanced a quick glance toward Drathlic, emerald hue’s skimming across his muddled form. It was a rare lapse in her normally submissive routine, something that scarcely ever occurred though Aiyu supposed she could chuck her sudden flicker of defiance to her sessions with Fiory. The ivory youth had expected her actions to meet with anger or at least some semblance of hostility from the elder varg, instead she found a softness shining in his eyes that she had not seen in quite some time.
Raising her head higher she felt a soft whimper escape her pearly muzzle, soft oculars centering on the rising mann. Seeing him approach she flinched, wincing slightly as his paw found her skull though it was more out of habit then anything. Somewhere in her mind Aiyu registered that his actions were meant to lighten the mood causing her to relax, fur falling flat upon her back and matching his warm smile with her own. “Even so it shouldn’t have happened, Sikla or not it was disrespectful to you and your position. You had every right to chastise me.” she returned cautiously. She was still wary of the Listern Beta, that much could not be helped - it was her nature after all- but at least she was coming to see that maybe he was not that much different from herself after all.

(I have since become mates with Shayla, but this thread takes place before it…hope you don’t mind me bringing it back up!)
The ruddy brute listened to Aiyu’s response, noting her flinch as he had cuffed her in a playful fashion. Making a mental note, he knew for the future not to act in such a fashion around her as it was clear she was uncomfortable with it. A slight sigh escaped his chest and he looked away from her emerald hues, gazing now at the clearing in which they sat. The thoughts that had plagued his mind before their meeting had since vanished from his mind, yet now that a silence had fallen between them they were swiftly returning. He had no other varg to console his thoughts to beforehand, yet now Aiyu was in his presence and it appeared that some form of alliance had formed between them – even if it was only new and the threads of trust were still thin between them. Yet perhaps if the mann spoke of his worries to her, she would find a way to trust him further, and in doing so he could possibly trust her. The plan was definitely not full proof, for if she did speak a word of his thoughts to Gryffin or Fiory, he could get himself into trouble. But anything was better than having them eat away into his soul.
A slight whine passed his lips and his auds flattened across his head. Still avoiding eye contact with the youth by his side, Drathlic flicked his tail and simply went for it, hoping the consequences were not going to be dire. ”Aiyu, I’d like to consult in you some thoughts that have been going through my mind as of late. I hope that you will not pass the words onto anyone else in the pack, this is something between you and myself,” after this statement he then turned to look back at her, focusing his cyan hues onto her own jewels. His point had been emphasised, and he hoped to Tor she had taken heed of it. Turning away again, he continued. ”Without the presence of Silent, my old feelings for another friend have grown stronger now until I can’t bear them anymore. I am torn. Whether to remain in wait for Silent to return, or to go ahead and declare my love for the other,” he concluded with another sigh, gaze now falling to his paws as the skin on his muzzle began to grow hot with embarrassment.

Drathlic’s query came as somewhat of a surprise to Aiyu, catching her off guard. She hadn’t expected him to approach her with anything of significantly real importance, and yet the Listern Beta had conferred with her the need for counsel. Regarding him carefully for a moment the ivory femme found herself wondering just what was it that had put Drathlic on edge? Cyan hues burning into her own emerald jewels Aiyu flinched, lowering her gaze submissively and looking away from the dominant male. It wasn’t so much from him breaking a sacred taboo amongst their kind that had made her turn away from him but rather what he was asking of her. He was asking for Aiyu’s silence.
The white wof didn’t even have time to make a decision before Drathlic related the source of his immediate distress to her. “What!” For a moment Aiyu merely regarded her companion in shock, so that’s what was trouble the young dragga. Drathlic was on the threshold of choosing a mate, not only that but with someone outside of List no less. But why come to her for help? Aiyu didn’t know whether to be honored that her beta had chosen to come to her for advice or wary of what the repercussions of his actions might be. Provided the varg in question wasn’t of Koran descent the Listern Sikla knew that her parents would probably allow Drathlic to court whoever he pleased, they wouldn’t care so long as his actions didn’t effect List negatively in the long run. But then why was he being so secretive?
She wished Fiory was there with her, knowing that her mentor could have advised the Listern heir through his problem with no real difficulty. But Fiory wasn’t here leaving Aiyu to decide for herself just how she needed to go about the situation. Thinking back she recalled her lessons with Fiory, realizing with a start that she had a general idea of how the Stargazing Drappa would have handled Drathlic’s present predicament. “Drathlic I have no knowledge in love for I have never experienced what you’ve felt and feel might now so it would be pointless for me to advise you on the correct course of action.” she explained, gaze fixed on her paws which shuffle awkwardly beneath her. Having said that she looked up, emerald orbs fixing themselves upon the mann’s muddied shoulder and staring past him in typical wolf fashion. “Silent will always hold a special place in you heart no matter what happens, but right now she’s gone. If you feel so strongly for this friend of yours then you should act on those feelings while you still have the chance and find out if she feels the same way.”
Before she had disappeared Fiory had taught her apprentice the ways of the Stargazers, since then Aiyu had learned to seek the truth within herself. Though her training was far from complete the ivory fae intended to impart what wisdom she could to the trouble beta, under the title given to her. The Trailing Star.
Daughter of Gryffin and Sudak Descendent of Leohlic and Shatocwn Niece of Fiory and Bristol Sister of Sora and Arias
The shocked explanation from Aiyu did not surprise the ruddy male, yet the pitch at which she spoke cause the Beta to flinch in fright. He winced and peered at her from the corner of his eyes, for now he truly was ashamed. Drathlic had consoled in her a secret he wasn’t yet willing to break to his alphas, and seeing as she was their daughter he now had a sudden regret that she might go off and disregard his word. Yet what he got in response forced his auds up and his eyes to flash back round to Aiyu’s emeralds. She had spoken very wise words for a faemme who thought she was a lost cause and nothing more than a sikla. If Drathlic could have been proud of any varg, it would have been the sweet daughter of Gryffin who cowered at every varg’s paws. His shocked expression was swiftly replaced by a smile as his ears relaxed once more and the breath that he had been holding onto escaped his chest in a sigh. She was right of course, with Silent gone Drathlic could do nothing but mourn her loss and long for the day of her return. Yet where was this going to get him? No where.
Despite Shayla being within the borders of another pack land, and one she would hold onto tightly he knew, becoming mates with her would be very difficult indeed. Not to mention what Gryffin or even the Dragga of Ge-Rad would say about it – to them the idea would likely be preposterous! Yet wasn’t that love? Love was ridiculous, at least ridiculously painful and hard. Scoffing himself for a moment Drathlic looked away, glancing back down at his paws as his thoughts consumed him. Who was to say that Shayla even loved him back? He knew she loved him as a friend, after their more recent meeting at the river it was plainly obvious to even a stranger. Yet to feel that ache in her heart that he felt over her whenever they were apart, or to not be able to say the words he wanted to speak into her velvet ears.
Sighing again he peered back up at Aiyu and nodded gratefully, lifting a leg he patted her shoulder with his paw in a way of saying thank you. ”You know, you’ve learnt something useful off Fiory. I’d say you were a natural,” he growled in response, his grin turning toothy.
(Sorry for the late reply)
