As Terin smiled and curled against his legs, Kerael allowed himself a smile, a warm feeling welling up inside him. He trusts me He thought in amazement. Terin must have been worn out from the strom, for he fell asleep quickly. Kerael lay down slowly, resting his head against his paws as he felt the warm figure curled up next to him, watching the storm outside.

[glow=red,2,300]Terin slept solidly, waking later, and raiseing his head. The storm still raged outside, and he felt panic riseing in him. he couldn't remember... where... or when he was. He didn't know whom the warm fur belonged too.... was it... him. He turned, and gave samll whine, and then sighed, relived. It was the wolf he called father. He hoped that he hadn't woken him... and yet... he almost wished he had... [/glow]

Kerael hadn't drifted off, he was awake, gazing at the swirling snow outside and thinking. His thoughts were like the wind, dancing from thought to thought. He felt Terin stir beside him, but he didn't move, hoping he would sleep as long as he needed.

[glow=red,2,300]Terin stirred again, and looked at Kerael's form. He lay his head against it again, and spoke softly. "Are.... are you awake..?" he said softly. "Can... can I ask you something...?" [/glow]

Kerael turned his head to look at Terin. "I was just thinking," He said to reassure him that he hadn't woken him up. "What is it you wish to ask me?"

[glow=green,2,300]Terin looked at his father, and relaxed. "Do... do you remember your family?" he growled softly, his little head cocked to one side now. The young wolf looked at the ground quickly, afraid that he'd been to foward. "Er... unless you don't want to talk about it."[/glow]

Kerael's gray eyes gazed out at the swirling snow. "Humans took me from my family when I was your age. For so long I couldn't remember them. But then I found my sister, Kenyi, and I remembered. Those were happy, carefree times, spent in the company of my siblings and parents." He fell silent as memories rose in his mind, a faint smile on his face.

[glow=green,2,300]Terin smiled, and raised his head. "Really? So... you had a good younger life....tell me... what... what was it like?" he whined softly. "My... my... the wolf who raised me at first... he never gave a kind word... all he had were critiqes of me... my life... my hunting... he was... not.. nice." Terin cringed, hoping that his scar wasn't too visible...[/glow]

Kerael's voice was wistful as he relived his youth in his memories. "I guess I was lucky, to have such a strong family. My father and mother taught us well, offering criticism when it was needed, and congratulating us when we suceeded. There were times when we got into trouble, but father rarely ever shouted. Most of our days we played in the woods near our den, and trained with the pack." He looked at Terin, no pity in his voice, just calm understanding. "It must be hard, to look back and see few good memories."

Terin laughed a little, and smiled at the bigger wolf. "You know.. Im not exactly the best behaved cub in the world... you have fair warning." he said. "Besides... there are... no real memories there. Just nightmares." Terin's grey eyes bored into his fathers. "Dad... promise me something... if I get out of line... you warn me first?" he said softly. "I... I don't... I don't want..." Terin couldn't finish. The self-confidence the cub normally had faded, and he cursed his weakness.

Kerael looked at his son, his tone serious. "I will teach you all I know, and if you do misbehave, you have my promise I will never hurt you. I may raise my voice, but I will strive to tell you when you are in need of correction." He smiled slightly. "You're a fast learner, I don't think I will have to do that often."

[glow=green,2,300]"I think so..." he growled softly. "Thank you. I.. I..." Terin struggled with the words in his mind again. "Dad...I..I l..." Terin couldn't say it. Instead the young wolf lay his head down, and closed his eyes. [/glow]

Kerael watched as his son slowly drifted off to sleep, marveling at how much the cub trusted in him. He turned once more to gaze at the swirling snow, his mind drifting once more, ambling from one thought to another. Slowly his head drifted down to rest on his paws, and his eyes closed.

[glow=green,2,300]Terin's eyes opened much later, and it was dusk. The freshly fallen snow sparked like dimonds in the night, in the light from the full moon which peeked into the woods. He smiled widely, and without thinking, bounded happily out into the snow. He lept into snow banks, and buried his muzzle in the cold, wet, icy snow. He lay, waiting for second wind, off too the side of the little den they were near, wherehe couldn't be seen... not a wise choice, but not intentional at all. [/glow]

Kerael stirred in his sleep, feeling a cold breeze against his side. He opened his eyes to see that Terin had left and got to his paws, yawning widely and showing a full maw of glistening teeth. He padded outside, glancing about to find Terin.
