((Been so busy with other threads that I forgot about this thread for a bit, sorry))
Lestat’s frantic squeals and barks caught Draeg’s attention and in a heartbeat he was at the pup’s side comforting him with soft, tender licks, his meal left unfinished and forgotten. The amber varg was beginning to worry about the cub’s well being, it was painstakingly clear that Demon hadn’t wanted him and she wasn’t even making an effort to tend to the child despite his obvious distress. For a brief moment Draeg considered stealing the pup and taking Lestat with him so that Cwen might rear him alongside their own brood, effectively doing both the cub and his mother a favor. However he decided against it, knowing that while he could easily take the pup from Demon in her current state doing so would plunge Deor into the depths of war with Koran and jeopardize the safety of Cwen and their litter. Besides, Demon said she had plans for her son which meant that she would need Lestat alive. Still he would make it a point to watch over the child, even if it was only from afar.
He pulled away from Lestat when he noticed Demon glaring coldly at him, having been clearly angered by his laughter. Her entire body trembled with rage and her words like ice but despite this she made no move against him, The knowledge that attacking him would cause the amber varg to leave her alone to deal with her loneliness by herself was enough to stay Demon’s paw. Draeg hated it. He longed to sit a talk with the Demon that had help him sneak across the Transylvanian border like he used to opposed to the strained conversations of the bitter Demon that blamed him for her problems, but Draeg was beginning to doubt that he ever would again. “I’m sorry I laughed at you Demon, you know I didn’t mean any harm by it. Forgive me if I offended you.”
When Demon hesitated to take Draeg’s offer the amber varg gave out a brief whine and nudged the hind toward her with his snout, attempting to get her to partake of the bounty he was so generously offering her. Sensing her apprehension Draeg stepped further away from his kill and began cleaning the gore from his bloodstained muzzle, licking his paw until it was nice and damp and then running it down along his muzzle before repeating the process all over again. He couldn’t help but smile when Demon finally tore into the already broken carcass, pleased that she had swallowed her pride and taken up his offer. “You know I would never think that Demon, we both know you are far too capable of fending for yourself to be considered helpless. But there’s no harm in accepting a little help every now and then either, besides the stronger you are now the stronger the your son will become.” He said kindly. Draeg watched as Demon ripped a chunk of meat from the venison and began the process of feeding herself, never once turning his gaze from the grizzly scene though he couldn’t help but shudder when he saw her set a portion of the meal beside her son before devouring it. “Demon?” he whined after a moment, pinning his ears and lowering his tail slightly. “Do you think its possible for us to go back to the way we were before the castle? Back when you didn’t hate me.”
