Have to agree, but over the years they must of gotten mixed up in some kind of chemical, cause boy! some dogs look nothing like wolves. (for instance, the chihuahua) but the peek-a-pom in this picture is SO CUTE! I like small dogs, and some big ones too. www.4.50megs.com/images/9292.jpg1. Peek-A-Pom

Anyone know of the Spitz aka the American Eskimo Dog? I have one, they kinda look like miniature samoyeds. I have an American Eskimo. I think that my favorite types of dogs are the ones that look like wolves. But I have to admit that pugs are cute!

I know of the spitz. I've seen a few in the shelter I work at. I own two siberain huskies and they are by far my favorite dog.. second would probably have to be the GSD (German Shephard Dog) for those that don't know what that GSD means. Also for a reference Alaskan Huskies are not technically a "breed" of dog either. They're all mutts of some kind or another.. just a general term. I did notice how wolves were up there and I was a little confused too.. whoever mentioned that earlier.. yep they may be smexy but they're not dogs.. canines yes.. but not dogs.... but yes.. my vote.. huskies

I have two dogs, a chihuahua and a mini schnauzer. (How ever you spell it!) They are both so cute! But still I would like to have a Taco Terrier or a Large Munsterland.

*agrees with Sudak* I absolutely adore huskies. I wish I could have one, but my side of the world is not a good climate for the breed. That and my house isn't the best place for a dog that needs alot of activity. I've thought about getting a husky many times, but every day he/she would be alone at the house since my whole family works, me included.
Vote for huskies! You know you want too....

Taco terrier? Haha, that's funny. Sounds like a Chihuahua and rat terrier mix to me. (and looks like one too).
I like huskies too, but I prefer rotties. XD I don't know why, but I just fell in love with them, especially after the people behind me had one, who kept getting out. Seth was such a big sweety, and he was bigger than the breeds standards. But after he died, it inspired my neighbors to get a rottie of her own. Minka (the rottie) was so fun to play with, she would jump in the pool and actually walk on the bottom with her hind legs, almost like a human. I don't get to see much of her anymore, though, because they just had two kids. Minka is great with them though. People think their mean, but they are really super protective of their territory and their owners.
But I also love mutts, and they really are better than pure breeds health wise. My three dogs are all mutts, one a boarder collie mix (possible beagle or pointer), the second a chow lab mix, and the third a rat terrier and jack Russell terrier mix. All three of them were abandoned, one abused. All of them are perfectly healthy, even the aging 14 year old boarder collie mix.
I also like the looks of the Chinese Crest, I don't know why. They have a really unique look about them!

True mutts can have better health then purebreds Shunke but it all depends on the breeds and if the parents were sickly like many backyard breeders do. I have absolutely nothing against mutts as I've owned them and work with them on a daily basis. Just saying it really all depends on the breeding and pedigree of the dog.

Mutts have to be the best dogs, although, they are more behaving if they have a little collie in them. So, maybe I'm more partial to collies.

Collies? Behave? HA!! Yeh fair enough they're good dogs to train and all, but a lot of collie's I've met are arrogant and are just too focused on what they want to do, sometimes so much so they forget you're there *coughMegancough* I love Boxers. I want one soooo much, but can't until I get my own place *sigh* But I am also loving Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Malamutes I prefer to Huskies. And Japanese Akitas are great dogs too. However from my experience at the dog kennels they can be a bit...funny.
I agree Shunké, Rotties are ace dogs. But If I was on my own and not with Dean, I don't think I'd get one.
Greyhounds are amazing - and that brings me to lurchers. Fantastic dogs! But I guess they kinda tie in with 'mutts' are they're a cross-breed. Whippets are too aloof for my liking, greyhounds are deffinitely better.
Ok, big love of dogs here. Sorry I can never pick >.< But Boxers I must say - probably my top dog!

I mean genetic wise- like Dalmatians with deaf, and mixing it with, say, a chow- they are less likely to be deaf, than with a pure bred Dalmatian. (that is, being that the parent isn't deaf, yes).

It tends to be a white coated version of a breed that becomes deaf in dogs. White boxers, white collies...I don't think it's Dalmations in particular. Or was that just an example?

One of the major health problems in the Dalmation breed is deafness, and ya, it was used as as example.

Collies? Sure they can be well behaved, but its in their blood to 'herd' you. they're herding dogs so yes they'll tend to boss the family around more haha
greyhounds are great, cept if you take one outside and off the lead, and it wants to catch something, you've totally just lost your dog, it aint coming back
oohh boy you know how painful it would be to have a rhodesian ridgback tackle you xD eeek
I'll stick with my shepherds lol
