[glow=black,2,3]I know that in some places down in South Florida near the Miami area have already banned the breed, but it's exterminating them that really ticks me off. I mean, your going to kill an innocent loving animal that has done nothing wrong but bring joy to people? My friend has a pit bull, and he's the sweetest thing. Along with my other friend's lab/pit bull mix, Baby. She isn't a full breed, but her name says it all.[/glow]

yes, no dog is born evil, however, you can't argue the fact that the breed is naturally more aggressive, due to the fact that, ay a certain point in their life, their skull stops growing while their brain continues to grow, this caused them to have a head-ach, 24/7, and that makes them aggressive.
I'm not trying to agree with any of this or make it sound like I am, I hate the idea of killing all those innocent dogs. but the truth is you can't ban people, so the breed is the only thing they can think of.
Besides, have you seen any of the pictures of the hundreds of children who have been attacked by dogs? not just pit bulls, any kind of dog? its horrifying. My nephew was attacked by his dog last year, a dog he had grown up with and to that point had been nothing but an overly loving family pet. But, one day out of no were the dog attacked him, tearing out a chunk of his lip, biting open his head, and nearly bit out his eye. the had to bring in a plastic surgeon because the normal doctors couldn't fix the damage.
As much as I HATE to say it, I agree that in populated places, ((like large cities)) they could put a ban on the more naturally aggressive breeds
HOPWEVER, I DO NOT agree with the fact that they will be killing the dogs who are there. I believe they should at least give the families a change to relocate the dogs.

Tor, when I watched that video, it did make me cry. I love all animals whether they are braught up to hate or to love. I love them all. The first pictures of those poor dogs was horrifing. I am crying as I write this... Some may think me a big baby but actually, one of my reletives had a Pit Bull called Sally. She was so cute, black all over with a white crest. She was loving and she was NOT known to bark. (Ok, she did accasionally).
I think this should be stopped, and if anyone thinks it shouldn't, they can go to hell! I am sorry but I feel strongly about this. Those poor dogs that get beaten to death. Thank you for reading my note.
BAN THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!

Found this website, it's pretty cool if anyone would like to check it out. www.pbrc.net/home.htmlIt has some cute pictures. It's a hard thing to solve, I love all kinds of dogs(and animals) I always want to think of some kind of solution for all the problem. i don't suppose that some kind of breeding could get rid of their agressive problems? I don't know if it would "impurify" the breed or anyhting. Just kind of rambling... I saw a lady today with three pitbulls. they were really sweet looking and before she ran into the grocery store(while leaving them in the car for a moment) she gave them all kisses. It was really cute.

unfortunitly, it seems to be a trait specific to pit bulls, and I doubt it could be breed out. A friend of mine had a bitbull shepard mix named lucy, and they were hoping that the shepard in her would take care of the skull braind problem. and for a while they thougth it had, but out of no were, lucy snaped at thier baby girl hazel. Lucy also went to thier neighbors proporty and attacked one of thier dogs, doing some serious damage.
they quarinteend lucy to see if perhaps she had goten rabies, a reasonable explanation for her agression, however that failed. with further inspection they descovered that it was infact that her skull had stoped growing, and her braid had not.
even with the shepard in her, it didn't fix her problem.

This is just horrible...
Come on people!!! Not all Pitts are bad!!! I know three of them, all are sweet family dogs. I even know a huge Rotwiler... and let me tell you, he is the sweetest dog I've ever met..
It's not the breeding, it's how the dog is trained!!!!
I really don't understand... It's racist to discriminate a human because of their 'breed', but it's okay to exterminate a family pet for the same reason... I swear, this is just like what Hitler did, getting rid of all the people he didn't like, to create a "master race".
I think we're heading down the same road. *slams skull on the tree*

If the dog's didn't do anything wrong themself, they should not be killed. Yes I agree that any dog that does attack someone should be put-down humanely, but other than that the others deserve to live.

I, of course with no suprise, loathe the action of exterminating the breed. True, they are not my...favourite breed. But it is just against any type of moral, period. Usually it is not the dog's fault. The upbringing plays a large part. My brother has a German Shepherd at his house. I love him to death, but my brother was foolish and did not raise him correctly. He did not socialize him well. If there is someone or another dog that he had not been with for at least a few days, he will snap and go insane. I mean yes, he is a guard breed. But then why would they be enlisted in special services, such as therapy dogs? The same is for pitts. True, you don't see a pitt therapy dog very often. But they do have them. And besides. It isn't as common as you may think for a dog to just randomnly go berserk. They has to be SOME kind of provoking. For my brother's dog, although he can be sweet, if you suddenly appear near him he will bite. Some dogs are peeved by bicycles. Also, the dog may have been beaten by someone with a trait a passer-by may also have. Have you ever known a dog that did not like something about someone, yet they were always raised by a loving family? Some dogs also get bad "vibes" from certain things.
Aside from rambling, I will support your cause! I love German Shepherds, and people may target them sometime in the future. Besides, anything like this should be stopped! It's just like genocide.It IS genocide. Leave the poor dogs out of it. If someone can't have a dog without the little guy ripping someone to shreds, take the dog away! The United States government is working so hard to take things away, instead of trying to improve and grant. I could go on about this, but I would feel like an idiot, especially not even being American. Though I do live in New York at the time ^__^;

I used to know a pitbull, she was such a suck. Exterminating the breed is completly uncalled for. Though it seems these dogs are looked at like criminals and are being treated as such -growls- I wish there was something I could do for these innocent dogs but I'm not living in the United States nor am I American.
I'm just glad the breed was only 'banned' as they call it here. People who have the breed must 'fix' them and have them leashed with a muzzle while in public. We're allowed to still buy or adopted ones from shelters but that's it
