An ebon wolf crested the small dusty hill just as the golden sun had begun to peek through the trees' shield-like leaves. He was traveling at a gentle pace, body rocking in motion with his smooth gait. Yet there was no destination up ahead for the male. This was but a journey of time. One meant to give the grizzled male he'd left behind a chance to leave to scene of their battle. He was guess it wouldn't take long, Dane was sure to move on. As eager as he'd been to leave behind the memories they'd shared of blood and pain. No, it won't be long now. When that time came the brooding warrior would double back, placing his feet along the same path they'd been moments before. He'd glance at the same trees, looking as if little else mattered in the world. He'd come back through the break in the green underbrush. The break he'd caused in his departure. The male would reenter the field of their frenzied attacks. Here he would search out the path of the grey wolf. Here he would smell all the anger and hatred that had burned through their veins. The guilt that had washed over them both, that had turned the charcoal male to the path he was now destine to follow. Here he would follow his old friend's trail, he'd follow him back to the abyss, he would bring him home.
Mimicking the tempo of his heart, the male's heavy padded paws thumbed against the dusty earth. Mindful that time was slipping away, the black male rounded a bend in the trail bringing his heavy body back in line with the path he had just traveled down, feet barely missing a step. His emerald eyes captured a few rays of warm sun, causing them to flash brilliantly amid the brown woodlands. Reining in his coursing passions, the wolf slowed his pace slightly. He had to be sure that Dane was gone. Though there was a spark of something between them at the end of their confrontation, the male couldn't be sure of his old friend's true intentions. He'd left too suddenly, a promise wisping from his lips in the process. Such an exit had left his mind buzzing with many uncertainties - first and foremost the idea that Dane may not have taken him seriously. Were that the case, he was sure the bi-eyed mann would not take kindly to a follower.
None the less, he pushed on. Concealing the tinging doubts to the back of his mind, the wolf allowed himself to reveal once again in his new purpose. There would be a new life for them both at this journey's end. A lopsided smile graced his blocky muzzle for a quick moment, an old trade mark to his carefree youth. Perhaps he'd regain more then his friend in this. Perhaps Dakota would regain himself as he once was. Perhaps at last, he would be free to forget the shadows of his past. Slowly dropping down into a low crouching walk, the big male peered cautiously into the tattered field. There was no sign of Dane or anyone other being. Breathing deep in anticipation he moved forward, ready to take the next step along his path of reawakening.

The day started out just like any other. Wolfbane’s winter had fallen and given rise to Fenris’ spring, and the change of season was a welcome sight to all lera. The light and warmth of the wolf god touched every reach of the terra, ensuring that all would bask in the comfort of his luminosity. To those that would turn their gaze towards the heavens, they would be greeted by a cloudless sky, and to those that listened intently, they would be greeted by still winds and the song of life, sung by the majestic winged creatures of the land. Many lera had returned to their homes with the coming of the spring season, eager to continue their lives in familiar terra, and perhaps even spread and start new life. Herds of Herla also returned to the familiar stomping grounds of Transylvania, which excited the neighboring wolf packs, for the prospect of bountiful meat was once again a reality. Kerl’s would have to make do with what they could as always, and it was a lifestyle in which a bi-hued ebon and ivory fae had not gotten accustomed too so easily. Nevertheless, she adjusted, for her journey involved more then simply the on going problem of finding a decent meal.
Krystal was and still is a Ge-Radian. But do too many events that had unfolded in her life, the lead scout and former Zanguzen chose to venture out of the safety of Ge-Rad’s borders to embark on a journey. On her own, she hoped to answer many questions that plagued her, like a splinter in her mind, constantly festering and never failing to rear its ugly head. This was also a journey of strength and courage, a journey of enlightenment. So far, the bi-hued Ge-Radian has encountered and overcame many obstacles, and has learned much along the way about herself and the world around her. She has encountered many wolves, both good and bad, yet has learned and grown from those encounters. But instinctively, Krystal knew she wasn’t ready to return to Ge-Rad yet. The day would come when Krystal would feel that the time was right to return to her home. But for now, her ebon paws pressed the lead scout onward, deeper into foreign lands governed by the elements, ancient wooden sentries, and the kerls of the land.
The day was tranquil; Fenris radiance lapped at Krystal’s pelt and left a gentle glow on her fur. The bi-hued fae traversed the terra at a steady pace. Ebon paws carrying her on a path that held no clear destination. Yet it was the journey itself that proved to be more enjoyable then the over all conclusion. Somehow, fate had always placed the lead scout along the walkway of someone who would teach her something, someone who she could help, or perhaps they could help her in some way or some form. Would today be such a day where her path would cross with another? A sniff of the air revealed the presence of kerl scents both old and new. The air was still and did little to aid in the tracking of any potential friend or foe alike. Her bi-hued sapphire and emerald gaze caught no sign of lera or putnar alike within the walkway in which she traversed. The scent of fresh water hung loosely in the air, perhaps there was a lake nearby, which would give Krystal a chance to quench her thirst. The scent of a new wolf now hung in the air, and her bi-hued orbs searched the field for the owner of the scent, ebon auds up and at the alert as she searched.

Dakota's concentration had been so focused on his one goal that it seemed an eternity before he sensed the approaching stranger. Leaves crackled softly behind them, sounding off each of the intruder's steps. Silently cursing himself for allowing anything to sneak up so close, the male crouched lower into the ground. His big muscles tensed into rope like bunches beneath his dark skin, preparing for the power and force they must soon propel into the male's pouncing attack. With a thunderous crash, the dark wolf suddenly shot his head upward though the overhanding brush, meaning to surprise his follower. What he saw instead made him clench his teeth in frustration and embarrassment. A lone fae was approaching, seemingly unknowing of his position. Her strange bi-colored eyes were alert, ears pushed forward searching for any sound. For a moment the mann remained frozen in his spot, body still half ready to attack. In another life, another time Dak would have been all to willing to help the lady or whomever crossed his path with whatever endeavors they were currently on. The overwhelming desire to be a shining knight, to offer his protection, had boiled deep within his blood ever since he'd first learned how to fight. When he'd first learned to use his blocky physique for such an advantage. Now however, for the first time the male felt something else pulling against these emotions. He had more pressing matters at hand. Someone that needed him more then a random passerby. Such distractions would only serve to put him farther behind the one he wished to pursue, and yet he could not leave this fae without at least stopping for a moment. Perhaps just to be sure she wasn't lost...
Pulling the remainder of his body from the tangles of his hiding place, Dakota moved into the clear path of the fae. "Hello, Miss", he called, voice deep and husky. "Do you need help with something?" He paused for a moment, regarding the fae's appearance. She bore strange markings, unknown to his mind and past knowledge. This alone pushed the male's mind into further confusion. As a cub he'd been very in tune to the stories of the gods. Soaking in all the knowledge he could, the young male had soon developed a healthy sense of superstition. Still, that had all been before the series of events that had led him to this point and time. Now Dakota rarely regarded the great gods with more then a passing annoyance. Like a scorned child he had turned his back on their teachings long ago, learning with a world shattering accuracy that the laws of the land were all that mattered out here. Thus the fae's strange shoulder marking did not turn his mind to the mysteries of other worldly bodies but instead served to remind the male to remain alert. He did not yet know if this meeting was truly a coincidence or if he had been trailed along his path for some time now.
Taking a tentative step forward, Dak looked at the fae with questioning eyes. He was not sure quite how to approach this and knew that time would soon waste away unless their meeting progressed with some level of momentum. Deciding that the path to such an end would lie in avoiding a fight, the male folded himself into a sitting position resulting a much less threatening presence. He cocked his head to the side, continuing to watch the fae, waiting for her answers. "My title is Dakota.", he finally said helpfully. "And you are?..."

The bi-colored ebon and ivory Ge-Radian remained alert and attentive to all her surroundings. Scent had given the stranger away, but his presence on the field was still a mystery too her bi-hued optics. The forest for the moment was still and void of any lera or sound. The scent of this new presence held a strong, abundant odor that indicated to Krystal that who ever claimed ownership to the aroma was very close by. Whether this kerl or pack wolf was a friend or foe was yet too be certain, and so the lead scout took the utmost caution, as tentative ebon steps moved Krystal forward a bit, for further investigation. Soon however, all would be revealed to the former Zanguzen, as a wolf, with fur as black as the darkest night on the coldest day. For a brief instant, the Ge-Radian thought she had by chance run into Koran’s Beta, the ebon warrior Kai. But a closer inspection of the kerl revealed the truth that this was indeed a different wolf entirely.
Having appeared and approached so suddenly, Krystal’s instincts went on the defensive. Her ivory daggers bore at Dakota, fearful that she may be attacked. A growl accompanied the display of defense. “Who are you?” Krystal responded in a demanding tone, displaying that all she felt was caution, and not fear. Fear was the last emotion anyone wanted to show a stranger, especially one who looked as Dakota does. Bi-hued sapphire and emerald orbs scanned the charcoal male. He carried a large frame that resembled the body build of a Balkan wolf, which only helped to make Krystal even more cautious. Though Krystal is the lead scout of Ge-Rad and a capable warrior of Zanguzen bloodline, such traits mattered not to someone of Balkar, whose pride lay in the sheer mass and size of its prized fighters. Even with her unrivaled speed, there would be no way that the Ge-Radian could take on a wolf of Balkar linage in a one on one confrontation. One of two results would unfold. Death, or sever injury if she was lucky.
However, there was one trait that Dakota held, that seemed to exile the male from the brutish Balkar pack. His emerald green eyes were not full of the usual egotistical and over bearing killer instinct that was standard for any who dwelled in the savage warrior pack. Rather, his eyes showed concern and compassion, emotions that could only dwell in the heart. It eased a few worries for Krystal, but she still remained defensive, even after Dakota revealed his title, and inquired the fae’s name. “Mine is Krystal Zanguzen.” She replied to Dakota. The bi-hued fae decided to leave out the fact that her home be the land of Ge-Rad, for fear that the midnight varg may very well be an enemy, she needed to be sure first of otherwise. “Forgive me,” Krystal continued, her voice shifting a bit from caution to a more respectful tone. She even bowed slightly to the male, a showing of respect. “But you startled me, and I yet to know of your ties or alliances. Are you a kerl of the land, or do you carry a pack title as well?”

Startled by the fae's sudden change in demeanor, the black male felt his body again tensing. Getting ready for the attack to follow such an explosive demand. Yet, the fae seemed to ease with each passing moment, recognizing him as not a threat but simply a fellow wolf she had happened upon. He studied her thin, steam line frame further. She is not the rank of fighter..., he thought quality. The male did not doubt her ability to defend herself, nor the ones she cared for. After all, when pushed to the breaking point any and all creatures would fight fiercely for their lives. Still, there was a clear difference between the two wolves. The fight, should they ever be pitted against each other, would not be one of equal caliber.
Breathing softly as it became clearer that this would not be a violent encounter, Dakota offered the fae a reassuring smile. "Krystal.", he spoke, trying the name out in his own deep vocals. His voice was tinged in good natured laughter as he spoke again, eyes lighting up in a rare moment of carefree happiness. "You are forgiven." The male bent one leg then, tipping his own bulky body in a low bow. "I hold no alliances to these lands.", he answered in response to the fae's careful question. "Though..", he reassured. "I have no taste for the dark wolves...I do not belong to their ranks. Rest easy, for I hold no malice intent for your well-being"
Throwing his head back momentarily, Dakota glanced over his broad shoulder. He could see clearly into the valley though the small break in the brush he'd caused. The grass was waving softly in the wind, seeming to call to him. Call him to the scents that lay there. To the path to which they would lead. Twisting his head back to Krystal, the male reassured his own self then. Those matter which waited just beyond the forest, they could wait a moment. The scents would be there still when he was able to pursue them once more.
"I am sorry, Krystal.", he said, breaking the silence. "I did not mean to startle you....well not once I saw who you were I had not been facing the path from which you came, I was not sure of your intentions anymore then you were mine." Meaning to cover his true intentions for being so carefully concealed, Dakota smiled again, glancing about the trees surrounding them. "I had been hunting these lands.", he said. "Concentration be the death of me, but I was not expecting you to suddenly show up" Tilting his head, the mann considered Krystal for any reaction. She had not offered any information besides the stiff formalities and he wondered if she too, truly wished to be alone. Perhaps in his own way, the male had intruded upon her solitude just as she had unknowingly his. None the less, they had both been interrupted now and seemed a shame to leave on such shaky terms. After all, he'd aimed only to help her along her way in the first place. Perhaps this purpose was not yet lost, perhaps he could still offer her some sort of assistance. Tipping his muzzled in her direction, Dakota's strong voice came again. "What of you?", he asked? "What brings you to these parts and to which lands do you call home?" His ears flicked restlessly, waiting upon her words. Wondering all the while, if fae would prove to be an alli or burden upon his growth. Would this meeting be another to inspire him, or only serve to cost him time he could not afford to spare?
[Heh, not my best - sorry! Kind of ran out of ideas there in the end. And thanks, me too ^^]

It was clear from the movements and mannerisms of Dakota that the male be a wolf who carried much knowledge and experience. Too Krystal, a Ge-Radian whose kaleidoscope optics have seen the ways of Balkan characteristics and manner of speech, this male who stood before the former Zanguzen who resembled the figure of Balkar’s pride, defied what she knew and understood. The ebon and ivory fae had too take a moment to allow the scene to properly register, for Dakota’s politeness and etiquette seemed almost unreal to a varg whose teachings marked the fae to believe that all Vargs who looked as massive as he did, must be Balkan and therefore must act as all those from Balkar do. Ebon auds twitched a bit as they took in and dissected each lyric spoken by the ebon kerl. Though Dakota may not have allegiances to any accept him-self, his build portrayed the frame of a warrior, and his words spoke richly of the intelligence that sung in his tone. He’d make a fine addition to any pack, if ever an offer was tempting enough to accept.
The Ge-Radian tilted her head inquisitively, as she listened to the valiant black knight carefully. Krystal knew that it would only be a matter of time before questions arose, and soon enough her hunch was proven correct as Dakota inquired as to the nature of her own allegiance and reason for wandering these lands. The male had been truthful to his own background when inquired upon, so Krystal saw no reason to keep such information secretive. “Concentration be the death for both of us.” The two toned Ge-Radian explained. “Though the wind had betrayed your presence to me, you were still too concealed for to properly be aware and prepared. I guess being away from home has caused me to grow soft in my skills.” Krystal looked up toward the heavens for a brief moment, recalling quickly how much she missed the open plains and red wood forest of her homeland. Mother Ge-Rad called out to her every night, praying that one day; hoping that her bi-hued daughter would come back to her open arms.
“Ge-Rad is my home.” Krystal continued, her lyrics spoken with a gentle tone that eased supply from her midnight maw. Hinting to the love and admiration the bi-hued fae held for a land that mothered her, and took her away from the loneliness of kerl living, and introduced Krystal to those she now calls family and friends. “I am her daughter,” Krystal speaks proudly. “and lead scout of the pack. But I’ve been away from my home for two seasons now, so I guess my skills have faltered some.” Krystal was referring to not being able to pick up on Dakota’s true positioning on the field, though she figured that being a foreigner to these lands didn’t help her cause either. “I’m here because… well…” Krystal paused for a moment. The bi-hued fae realized that she had never put her true reasons for leaving Ge-Rad into audible lyrics. Instinctively, the former Zanguzen understood her intentions.
“I’m searching for myself.” Krystal at last continued, breaking the silence. “For my strengths and weaknesses, for my purpose and reason, and to find all those things, I had to leave the safety of my home. I’ve encountered much on my travels, have seen things most varg would never lay eyes upon in their entire lives, and learned a lot about myself. But what of you Dakota, I may be wrong but your eyes have the look of searching on them as well.” Krystal hoped she wasn’t prying too deeply into the affairs of the male. In truth she had no business asking the kerl such a question. But being a lead scout, the Ge-Radian was trained to be in tune to the body language of others and the hidden messages they concealed. A naturally curious and inquisitive mind also played a roll, as Krystal waited patiently and politely for Dakota’s reply. She knew what Dakota would do next, would foretell how this encounter was going to play itself out.

[Sorry for the delay! ...and this is probably going to kind of suck. I'm running short on muse right now.]
Dak cocked his broad head slightly as the fae watched him. Her eyes seemed to scan his body in a curious fashion, considering every detail. "You look at me with strange eyes, Miss", he said aloud. "Am I not what you were expecting? Surely my eyes are not that different from your own and I hold not the markings that you bare. If anything I should be the one giving you a second glance." The male winked one emerald orb and laughed good naturedly. It was all in fun, of course. Though he was not used to one being so intent upon his body structure. Then again, Dak wasn't used to coming in contact with others period.
"Well lady Ge-Rad", his deep voice rumbled quietly. "You are a far bit from home...I hope the paths lead to what you may seek." He stopped shortly to consider her next words. It was possible that she'd seen that look in his eyes - they were in fact to his emotions. Exposing things he wished to keep hidden. There was passion in his eyes, running directly to his heart. Yet there was also the pain and wanderlust that filled his day to day life. No, Dakota wasn't surprised when the fae mentioned her findings. He laughed again, allowing his voice to echo across the trees. "I search for a similar finding, I guess you could say. I know who I am, what I am...I now work to make myself useful in the world. I belonged to a pack land once, Deor if your familiar with it, but...circumstances soon drew me away." The dark wolf paused again, seeming to carefully consider his each and every word. "I search to end these means and circumstances, perhaps even to end my journey as a kerl. One day...one day I am sure a family pack will call me home."
For a moment, Dakota grew nostalgic thinking of his times traveling with others. He'd enjoyed it for what it was, the closeness and bond that had been developed. The opportunity to depend on others. It had all appealed to him on the very base level in which he was a pack animal, never truly meant for a life of solitude. This seemed to present a whole other set of problem for him though, inevitably. For firmly planted in the male's mind was the idea that his brief stint within the Deor pack had ultimately led to he position he was in now. If he hadn't been caught up with such things, he wouldn't have forgotten his duties to others and thus would not be on such a desperate search now. There simply would have never been a need. These thoughts alone were enough to keep Dakota on his solitary road. At least until he could be sure that no other similar occurrences would result in his absence.
Casting a lopsided grin in Krystal's direction, Dak moved to steer the conversation away from himself. "How have you faired thus far?", he asked. "Surely you've found some of what you're questing for..."
